The breadsticks with cheese are yummy! It is the size of a small pizza, so be prepared to be full once you've eaten these. The salad bar, although tiny, is fresh and tasty. A pitcher of beer comes out in a frozen pitcher with frozen mugs! If you get the breadsticks, get a thin crust pizza instead of the new york style!

I gave it four stars because as mentioned in one of the below reviews, when they're on the pizza is excellent. However, the problem over the past year or so seems to be consistency. One time you'll go in there and the pizza is outstanding. Then the next time you go it is disappointing. Their prices are high but I don't mind paying the prices if it's cooked like I know they can cook it. But it's tough to stomach paying those high prices when they're having an "off" night.

Great pizza! Downfall is they don't deliver and they are located on Mansfield road. But it's worth the drive for their pizza! If you get a chance, try this place.

Hands down the best pizza in town! I mean it! If you like great crust, good ICE COLD BEER in frosted muggs, then this is the place. The drive is out of the way a bit, but well worth it!

Great pizza and environment. This place is truly my favorite on this side of town but they are a little slow. I make sure I have plenty of time to sit back and enjoy my pizza when I choose smittys! I recommend for everyone to try this local place its totally different from these corporate pizza places and much homier!

Smitty's? More like Shi**y's! We went for the buffet at lunch and there were two pizza trays out, both obviously old because the pizza wasn't even shiny and hot. We sat down and ordered drinks before we looked at the buffet, 2 waters and 1 sprite. Once we saw the buffet we decided not to stay because they said the only thing fresh they were going to put out would be a breakfast pizza and then the buffet was over. There were a bunch of rules on number of visits and things like that associated with the buffet too. When we decided to leave we told them up front and they still forced me to pay for the sprite even though it hadn't been touched and it was their fault we were leaving. (Their rules said last fresh pizza out at 1:15 and it was 12:30 when they told us only one more pizza then closing it down) they were so rude when we told them that we decided not to stay and one very unprofessional employee yelled "why don't you just go to Johnny's across the street" at us as we left. I assure you we were very nice and apologetic about leaving, even though it was because of the lack of food, yet they were still very rude! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!

I have to give this place five stars for several reasons. First off, I think it is the only local pizza place in Shreveport. I can really think of no other. Sure, we have chains galore (Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Domino's, Little Caesar's, even Johnny's) but local?...I'm drawing a blank here. Okay, Smitty's is a bit far for those that may be more centralized and yeah, you may need a camel, some flint stones, a flare gun, two-days rations worth of food and water, some salt tablets and a change of clothes, but it is well worth the epic journey to get there...I kid, I kid. It's really not that far out...if you're Ferdinand Magellan! Okay, I'll stop! I'll stop! But when was the last time you got a good Magellan reference in a Yelp review?...Yesterday?...Dang it!... Anywhoo, it really isn't that far out, I just like to jab at the folks that live out that way on Mansfield Road. My wife and I happened to be over that way, and I saw this place, and it has intrigued me for years, I've just never had the desire to enter the place. I had noticed in recent days gone by, that Tim Fletcher in his morning talk show on Centenary College's radio station KSCL 91.3 FM (plug!) had been giving away free pizzas from this place and I figured, if it's okay with Fletch, then it's okay by me. So my wife and I entered the restaurant one afternoon at approximately 3:45. Now, I realize, from experiences past, that this time of day, late afternoon, at restaurants can be iffy. Restaurants that have big lunch buffets or tremendously busy lunch hours, can at this time of day, have restaurant conditions, food, and a waitstaff that is dirty, worn out and picked over. Like you walk in at this hour, and there's still dirty tables, and the buffet looks like a team of jackals went after it. This was so not the case at Smitty's. This place is probably the absolute cleanest restaurant I have ever been inside. It was spotless! Upon entry, we were politely asked if we were dining in or out, and we said we would eat in and they said we could sit anywhere. We chose a nice cozy booth. Our waitress was extremely polite and efficient. We ultimately decided to go with the Medium 12 inch Smitty's Special, New York Style. It has always been my experience to go into a restaurant for the first time, and order the item that is the restaurant's namesake (If they put their name on it, it has to be good, if not...well, you know what that says about the restaurant). At Smitty's, you can get thin crust or NY style. NY style is not too thick, not too thin, just right and all pizzas have their homemade sauce. The Smitty's Special has cheese. pepperoni, beef, sausage, mushrooms, black and green olives, green peppers, onions, jalapenos and anchovies. (We asked for no anchovies, but they get props for having them.) My wife wanted a side salad, and the waitress kindly said she could make her own at the salad bar (jackals?). I went over to the salad bar to check its' current state as my wife filled her plate and much to my surprise and this should be a litmus test for all restaurants, the salad bar was extremely fresh and replenished with all vegetables, cheeses and fruits, shiny, crisp and glistening at not even four in the afternoon! My wife and I were very impressed. Our pizza arrived hot and fresh in less than fifteen minutes and it was choc-full of all the delicious ingredients on the menu. The medium was more than the two of us could handle and we got the rest of it boxed up to take home. We both agreed, that if we are ever on this side of town, we are definitely going to eat here again! This is the best pizza restaurant in Shreveport, without a doubt! They also offer something unique here called Pizza Logs, which is pepperoni and mozzarella, rolled up like an egg roll and baked, not fried. We will try that next time! In addition to a Monday-Friday lunch buffet (11am-1:30pm), they have a kid's menu, hot wings, and spaghetti and meatballs. It is a big place, with six flat screen televisions, tons of LSU decor and an interior that looks like a really cool, old steakhouse or Italian restaurant (It used to be a Pizza Inn, and has been Smitty's since 1995!) Check it out sometime, if you love really clean restaurants (my wife says even the restroom was spotless-another restaurant litmus test!) and want the best pizza that this city has to offer! A+++++++++++++ All The Way!!!!!!

I decided to try Smitty's Pizza as I was curious how Shreveport's small local pizza cuisine is, and I am glad I did. I really liked the pizza I got from Smitty's. You can get thin crust or NY-style (I did NY), and it was excellent. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and not some prefab-type stuff some of the chain places use. The location is a hole in the wall and didn't look the cleanest (I got it take out, so i didn't really get a good look at the entire dining room), but the pizza was excellent. I will need to try the cheese sticks and plan to do so next time! Also, they don't do delivery, but you can do take out.

The staff is always courteous, the food is always good, but the water there tastes like most restaurant's unfiltered water in Shreveport... Like dirt that you poured out of your freshly-watered plant. I bought a water filtration device at Bass Pro to combat this problem and I'm not embarrassed to use it at these restaurants that don't filter their water. Save yourself the hassle and buy a beer or a Coke. But... The pizza and chicken wings are good! The crust is a wee bit bland (not much salt, I guess?) but the toppings are yummy!

There's something about the crust at Smitty's that makes the pizza oh so good. We always order the hamburger pizza on thin crust and we've never been disappointed. Pepperoni is good too. They don't skimp on the toppings like some other places. Can't beat Smitty's!

Best pizza in Shreveport. If you are in the area you need to try it. Great price for what you get.

Years ago this place was 5 star good then something happened. The pizza got too salty. Sometimes it wasn't cooked long enough and came out with soggy crust. I'm not sure what caused the drastic downward shift but since then they've been trying to get back in the groove. Now it's basically a gamble when you go. If you catch them on a good day everything's great. If you don't you will be disappointed. We've begun asking them to cook the pizza a little longer to avoid soggy crust but then sometimes it comes out too crispy. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The cheese sticks are a must. The cooking time is slow so do yourself a favor and call your order in beforehand even if you're dining in.

Just got off the road and was hungry. I didn't expect the kindness shown to me when walking in the door or how good the pizza I ordered was. I will be coming back again.

It's edible. It's not great by any means, but it's great for Shreveport. I admit I am a little biased because I am from New York, but the pizza in Shreveport is downright laughable. Smitty's Pizza is "OK" pizza in a city that boasts some of the worst pizza in the nation. The prices are outrageous though. I paid nearly $20 for a pizza that only fed 2 adults.

This used to be the best place in Shreveport to get pizza, but after the big write up on them a few years ago everyone started coming and it has gone downhill ever since. Smitty's was THE pizza place and we would go no where else. Pizza is bad along with the service. Management has not learned how to manage a busy restaurant. I hate this because we are right around the corner, but prefer now to drive 30 minutes for our pizza. We will not be back!

I know the south is slow but geez the service was ridiculous. So slow there was only three other groups dining in so no excuse in my opinion. We had a group with six pizzas, first the waitress brought out a pizza not belonging to us, then brought out two it was another 10 minutes before two more came and then finally they were all there by the time the first half of our group already ate. One pizza order was wrong. The food was good, have had better.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
