We visited here after church on Sunday. We were seated immediately. The salsa was good, but the chips could've been thinner. I had the ranchero shrimp which was very good; the shrimp were a nice size. My husband had the chicken chimichanga and he enjoyed it. He really liked the refried beans. Our server was nice, however after our food was delivered it seems like she forgot about us. It took forever to get our check and to pay. Skip the fried ice cream as it's not worth the money. Overall we had a good experience but they need to step up the service.

The service here has always been top notch, the wait staff move with a purpose, and are excellent. Eating here at lunch has always been fast, able to get in and out in under 45 minutes. The food is good, about on par or slightly better than the average Tex-Mex restaurant around here. The ground beef they use could use a bit more seasoning, and a bit more spice. It is somewhat bland. The fajitas are usually decent, but sometimes the meat taste a bit 'old' (slighly stale, chewy and refrigerated). They have grills on the backside of the restaurant, and when they do have those fired up the smell drifts around the parking lot, it smells incredibly delicious. I eat here at least once every two weeks on average. The food is usually good, but they do have their off days, when the food just isn't as good as it should be. Their queso is the white queso, similar to Moe's or Freebird's. It is nice and thick, very tasty. The standard fare is good; burritos, tacos, etc. but some of their other offerings are above average; the fried chimichanga is awesome. The tamales are not spicy, and not served with the wrap, but it does have good flavor and is served with the white queso. The rice here has always been cooked right (never under/over) but it could use a bit more seasoning and spice (a bit bland). The lunch Ranchero specials have all been good experiences, but be aware they are pretty rich with the queso. While the taco salads are good, the fried taco salad bowls are consistently stale, like they are fried days before hand. I usually like to break off and eat some of the bowl as I am eating the salad, but with these bowls, it would kill the flavor of the salad. If you are very hungry but cannot decide on any one particular item to try, I would suggest trying the Molcajefe Jimador, but be aware that it is a significant amount of food. It has a bit of everything in it.

Oh boy.. this one is going to be SUPER HARSH yet very informative.. This place is in the ghetto.. sorry to offend but really? Skent a dent? Super Food 1 grocery store? Oh no! I clutched my purse super tight while walking into this place.. As the HUBS and I entered.. I swear it smelled like a cross between ass crack, sewer and athletes foot.. I was ready to go but the HUBS said I was over-reacting and that I had preconceived notions about this place. Okay.. I budged and we were seated. They has a sign on the door about a liquor permit. I was under the impression it was granted since the date on the permit had lapsed/expired.. ehh.. NO! No drinks as told by the waitress.. BUMMER.. Attitude in full effect now.. I ended up just drinking water and eating chicken soup. Guacamole was good and the husbands carne aside was flavorful.. BUT! That all ended as we started seeing big *bleep* garbage black flies flying around. Even the diners behind me said something about the big black flies coming out of nowhere.. We paid and left. I will not return! It was dark in there and you pay for what you get. CHEAP! Two stars for the very attentive service despite what other reviewers have said and the soup and carne aside was more than edible. -A girl from the big city

I am super excited about the latest local restaurant to plant yet another flag in the Shreve City area! El Jimador, after a couple of years of solid success in the southern part of this city, has opened up a second location here. This move comes, after the most recent move by another local restaurant, Athena Greek and Lebanese Restaurant, opened up a new location here in this same area this past September, and just down the road from this new El Jimador location. El Jimador just opened here in Shreve City this month, and its' new location is as historic as it is illustrious. In the 1970's and 1980's it was the infamous local legendary lunch and dinner spot known as T.S. Station, which was complete with an actual railway car that adorned the front of the exterior here as decor back then. In the 1990's, this location became the highly respected and highly popular south Louisiana seafood franchise of Mike Anderson's. I remember eating here one Saturday night as it was Mike Anderson's with my sister, an LSU undergrad at the time, and watching LSU quarterback Jamie Howard exact his revenge on those Auburn Tigers in Death Valley. And earlier, in the 2000's, this became the delicious, all-you-can-eat Chinese/Asian-fusion buffet, Hong Kong City. HKC closed its' doors about a year ago, and now, thankfully it is now the fantastic El Jimador. Liquor License as of this date (3/26/15) still pending, so FYI, no margaritas, no cervezas as of yet. We dined here for my wife's 40th birthday, and found the food every bit as tasty. the service as extremely friendly, as the other location here on Alkay Drive. I ordered from the Dinner Combinations portion of the menu (18 items, all $9.99), the number 3, which consists of 2 tacos. 1 enchilada, and 1 chile with beef and cheese, which I devoured along with their complimentary chips and magnificent salsa that is so perfect in taste and texture that I could drink it from a glass, and would do so! I was so full by the end of our meal! My wife had a great birthday here, and we are so happy this place is here, in our own personal zip code, and we will most definitely be back! they are open from 11am to 10pm daily. There are also two televisions at the bar with ESPN, which will be great for watching sports, when their liquor license comes through!

El Jimador was fantastic! They just opened and we took a chance on it. My wife and I are so glad we did! The carnitas were awesome and the service was great. Definitely one of the best mexican restaurants in the Shreveport Bossier area. Please disregard the guy comparing it to Taco Bell. Ridiculous comparison.

I just moved to Shreveport from Dallas and have been looking for a good Mexican food restaurant. El Jimador is right down the road from me, so I decided to try it. It was absolutely amazing. The food was hot, the presentation was great, and the food was delicious. The service was great too!!! This will definitely be my normal Mexican food joint!!!

We ordered fajita nachos and Fajitas. Unfortunately we didn't care for it. Of all times we usually eat in Bossier, we were feeling adventurous today and came across to Shreveport to eat at Hong King City. But we found it was closed and has reopened as this Mexican restaurant. So my hubby said we are eating here. I wish I had made him drive to Ming Garden. Anyway, my hubby ate maybe 3 bites of his fajita nachos and I tried a bite but I have to say- I didn't eat another bite. As for my Fajitas and beans and rice, I didn't eat even half of it, and I'm not taking any of this home for later. The service was okay and I can say we will not be coming back here. Oh and if you do come here- please tell me what the taste was that I was tasting in the beans and rice. I couldn't figure it out. Nutmeg? Oh and the rice comes with whole kernel corn in it too! That was a waste of $24.00!!!! Chef Ramsey where oh where art thou?

I've never written a review before but I felt the need to after eating here. The service just terrible! Waiter never came to the table not even once to refill our drinks. After sitting for 25 min finally had to get up to hunt down our check. Oh and the food is worse than Taco Bell.ground beef was very weird tasting!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
