Enjoyed the Apple smoked pork loin. Each slice was well seasoned, with three 1/8 inch thick slices on a moist cornbread stuffing and a side of fresh seasonal veggies. For this night they were a mélange of several different squash, eggplant and onion, sautéd just enough to leave some texture. Very good olive oil used. My wine selection was the Coppola ? It was just a tad overpowering of the flavor of the meal. There was a two for special on the wine, so I'm sitting in the theater with my second glass, enjoying the music and missing my better half. The meal, two glasses wine and tip totaled $28. Good job guys and gals, good job.

I know that the Bistro and Film Center have been having money issues which is why there is a constant staff change, but I still support the restaurant. The service is not amazing, but the staff has been polite and calm my last few visits. The food has also been delicious for me! I love the Turkey Burger and the Chicken and Waffles. I know they recently changes the menu, and I plan to try it soon! I hope the locals continue to support a non-chain restaurant downtown!

Abby Singer's is a full-service bistro and bar located on the second floor of The Robinson Film Center and features an intimate, inviting atmosphere and Shreveport's only public dining balcony -- and the food... the food is FANTASTIC. I was in town on a business trip and was invited here and looking at it, I hadn't expected a lot; but, boy was I mistaken. Every dish we tried was wonderful, the waitstaff was pleasant and helpful, and the lovely evening on the balcony was a great topping. We had: Duck Confit Salad -fresh blackberries and raspberries, pecans and Dijon vinaigrette -- wonderful. Goat Cheese Tartlets-savory tartlets with smoked tomato -- wonderful. Crabstuffed Avocado-pimenton aioli, apple-smoked lardon -- out of this world. Three-Cheese Tortellini -- the best I've had anywhere. And a host of other dishes that all were fantastic. One word of advice/caution -- it apparently can get VERY busy in the hour just before a movie shows in the film center and the waitstaff did say that although they do their best, it often overwhelms them and the kitchen... do yourself a favor, either arrive a couple hours before the movie, or go DURING a movie and let the kitchen and waitstaff treat you to perhaps the best meal you'll ever have (seriously).

it's great that Shreveport has a place like Abby Singer's. It is a fun venue although I can't really say that the food met my expectations. The menu is uninteresting. I get the feeling that they are trying to offer something innovative and metropolitan to Shreveport, but they fall short in the execution of dishes. Fried avocado? I was hoping it would be better than it sounded but I was sorely disappointed. The servers are pleasant. I wish they offered more in terms of variety. Fries are good.

Abby Singer's Bistro located in the Robinson Film Center is a fair choice when in downtown Shreveport. The pork chop and New York strip steak were flavorful. The cheese plate and the spinach and asparagus cream pasta were disappointing. The cheese plate was made way in advance and refrigerated with the crackers, making the crackers soggy and the cheese taste off. The pasta was flavorless. Stick with the salads and appetizers. Beautiful restaurant with a friendly staff.

Okay, so food and service when I have been here before have been very good. But tonight when I had made a reservation they acted like I had not and told me I could not get a table for my party. This is the same hostess who had been rude to us previously, basically telling us we should go somewhere else. I'm not sure who manages this place but you 1. Need to check your messages on the damn answering machine or don't have one. 2. Maybe should think about replacing the hostess.

Major improvements since my last review, years ago. Excellent service, drinks & food. I wish you weren't so quick to close early when it's not busy, though. But overall very good. Now just stay open on Sunday & Monday!!!

Glad this place has made it through the years, through transformations, menu changes and staff tag teams. It seems that they have simplified their menu somewhat and that is fine, you have to find what works and what doesn't. Love the Royale with Cheese burger and chicken with waffles, how could you go wrong. This place has an ambience all of its' own and I love the balcony-patio! A great place to dine and/or have drinks. I also enjoy taking said drinks into the Robinson Film Center theater below, for a film. There is also an off-chance that when visiting this establishment, you might see a star from any list be it A through D. I also enjoy their movie-themed drinks and food offerings! Support Abby Singer's and support the Robinson Film Center!

Great food. Fantastic flavor, presentation, and southern flare. Our favorite Shreveport spot. The strawberry cake, if you are lucky enough to catch a night the chef is making it, is amazing! Best part, you can bring it downstairs to the movie.

This place has a very cool vibe for Shreveport. The staff is super helpful and Kirstie and kellie were super great for planning events. The food came out perfectly and tasted awesome.

For lunch - love the Chicken & Waffles and an Abita Root Beer. For dinner - love the Crabmeat Stuffed Avocado appetizer and the Spinach & Artichoke Cream Pasta! Good bar/hangout place!!

I want this place to be successful but they tend to get in the way of themselves. This place could/should be busting at the seams and it just can't keep it together in terms of management, wait staff, etc. What a shame.

I support the Robinson Film Center whole heartedly. I just wish I could say the same about Abby Singer's. We used to enjoy dinner there before a show, but now we make alternative arrangements because we've had too many poor experiences. For one example, my husband ordered the Chicken and Waffles for a dinner entree, which he was psyched about. He was served a golden battered chicken breast and a half of a tiny waffle dusted with powdered sugar. His waffle was approximately the size of half an eggo-waffle. Hungry, he asked to order more and was told that if he ordered another half-waffle he'd be charged the full price of another meal. The Good: The staff are good about getting your check before the start of your movie. The staff are also very apologetic about the kitchen and know how to smooth things over because they know the kitchen and managment sucks. This should not be on their shoulders, but at least they're able to handle it gracefully. Kudos to a professional waitstaff. The Bad: The kitchen and managment - they've driven a great restaurant into the ground. Portion sizes: they'll charge NYC prices and serve you an artfully arranged garnish. They use a lot of cheap spring garden mix to hide the fact that your meal is missing. Also, don't be surprised if the restaurant is closed for a private function, it often is.

Only had one experience at Abby Singer's, but it was really good at lunch. Definitely a place to go when I return to Shreveport on business. Definitely recommend the cheeseburger -- huge, lots of flavor. Couldn't eat it all -- which is rare for me. The restaurant couples with an attached set of movie theaters inside the same building. Although my work colleagues and I didn't have time for a movie during lunch break, they (being residents of S'port) said it makes for a fun evening out with a dinner and movie. Decor inside the restaurant is all movie themed. Appropriate being that StageWorks Film Studio is a few blocks away. Although only one experience, I'm a fan. Will plan to go back again upon my next visit to Shreveport.

BAM. Re-edit. I gave this 4 stars months ago. After being a patron for over a year, and see it go downhill-- veritably pushed down a hill in wagon-- I have to come back and tweak it. Here's the problem: Management. For awhile the problem seemed to be people in this area not taking advantage of their amazing film center. To a point, that could still be partly an issue. We would come 2x a week, and sometimes see we were the only people in the place. It was mind-boggling. The happy hour prices were (and still are) great, the food was great, our servers were great. Then it just sort of hit a brick wall. The managers changed. A few times, it seemed. The kitchen was consistently weeded (that is to say, "overwhelmed and falling behind"), and the servers would get flustered and start running willy-nilly through the swinging kitchen door. SO many near-misses and accidents occured when people started getting flustered and just crashing into each other at that door. There never seemed to be discernible sections, just "someone" would get you. That may mean you have to wait 20 minutes during lunch to get someone to just ask you your drink order, because apparently no one knows what's happening, and the newbie manager is on the floor, but doing nothing of import other than running around blindly, or just sitting and idly chatting with the imposing mafioso-looking fellow who'd recently started running the RFC would be seated alone enjoying a steak, which was clearly prioritized over any paying patrons. Which is just delightful. Just last week we learned that the kitchen was out of basically everything. You know why this happens in a restaurant that's not particularly busy? Because the manager and chef didn't get their orders in on time. They were out of six things on the menu, didn't have a soup du jour, and the things they did have on the menu came with bizarro substitutes (instead of green tomato relish on the chicken and waffles it was strawberries-- and instead of a maple syrup berre blanc, it was Log Cabin). I hope this place is restored to the former glory of last year; it was essentially the one thing I embraced when I moved down a year ago, and to see it just become such a haphazard mess is depressing.

I love this place! I really wish there were more spots downtown like this one. They have a great atmosphere and awesome food. The sweet potato fries are wicked delicious and the royale with cheese is the best burger in town. Do yourself a favor and visit Abby Singer's Bistro, your tummy will thank you.
