I felt like this is a great place for a tourist passing through Louisiana who wants to hop off the interstate and get a taste of Louisiana food for the first time. But if you are doing more than passing through, take the time.to discover some of the other wonderful places to eat in south. Louisiana.

Excellent seafood as you'd expect! Oh, and the rolls are homemade and delicious. They only give you one per entree, you have to pay for more :-( But, if you're very sweet to your wait staff, they might give you one more. I split the Huge fried seafood platter with my husband. Everything was perfectly fried: crisp, not soggy, hot, fresh. The food could not have been better and our waitress was friendly.....so, why 4 as opposed to 5 stars? Well, my husband ordered a beer and they gave him a SMALL mug (12oz) for $6! We are used to a 16 oz mug for that price. Also, the pecan pie was a TINY sliver of pie. The platters of food are huge, but the desserts are tiny. The pie was cold - I'm used to most restaurants serving room temp or warm pecan pie. This one was right out of the ice box. Don't let the small beers and desserts distract you :-) I would go back here due to friendly service and large, well prepared entrees. It is worth the trip!

Tried the po boy with fried crawfish, fried shrimp, and fried oysters. I was not impressed, nor would I order it again because everything was not in good proportion. There was such small amounts of lettuce, or any other toppings. The bread was so thick I had to peel a lot of the bread maza out. I ordered extra lettuce though so it was better. I also took out all the fried oysters because they didn't taste good at all. With all the adjustments on my sandwich I decided to just eat the inside with a fork and eat the bread separately . Ordered the cheese sticks. No complaints there Ordered the oysters Rockefeller and they were tasty but I couldn't get over the amounts of melted butter. Ate two and shared the rest because I couldn't feel good about myself knowing the amounts of butter I was eating

Average. Small salad. Red snapper was tough. Had to cut it with a knife Baked potato can with all the ingredients in little plastic containers and not in potato ??? Very nice service. On side of the highway. Would not make a trip back It was recommended by my hotel.

Another great Cajun restaurant in the Lafayette area charbroiled oysters are to die for. Boudin balls are yummy. Service with a smile. Nice atmosphere. Very casual.

We really enjoyed this place! It was right next to our hotel, so a perfect place to go. The beer was very cold, which was quite impressive! The service was great! Wouldn't have done anything different if it were myself waitressing. We started with an appetizer of fried alligator which was really good. Definitely recommend trying it. I had the "Crawfish Festival." You have several options of what all you want on it. I got the grilled catfish served on a bed of rice, and smothered with crawfish étouffée. Served with a fried roll(pistolette), and a side of your choice. I chose French fries and they were great! My husband got the hamburger steak. He is a huge fan of hamburger steaks so it's almost hard to make him really happy with one, and he loved theirs! You could taste the spices in the gravy! His also was served with a fried roll, and a side of choice.

This location used to be so good but has been going downhill for the past few years. Food not as good as the one in Crowley and seems like maybe too many young, inexperienced kids working there in Scott.

I ordered the oysters and they were delicious but a little smaller than I was expecting. I also had the Abita beer but it came in a 12oz glass to my surprise I thought draft pours were min 16oz. Overall the food was okay along with the prices I would come back again.

Fezzos is by far my favorite place to eat in Louisiana! The boudain balls are amazing! They have everything from poboys, salads, and gumbo to cajun pastas, seafood and steaks. I haven't had anything there that I don't like. It's all good!

  • Mike P.

Spent a couple of days in the Lafayette area and was told to hit Fezzo's. Absolutely amazing Cajun food. We were treated to crayfish stuffed Pistolettes with a Cajun sauce over the top. Had a great experience!

  • Jona G.

Excellent service and food the crab cakes were delicious and so is the shrimp étouffée. The catfish was grilled perfectly as well. I loved how they had a la petit menu for smaller portions. Will definitely be back!

I've been to fezzos twice now while traveling for work. The second experience was not as good as the first. I sat at the bar and had a friendly bartender. I ordered a cold beer in a frosty mug and it was great. Then I ordered a bowl of red beans and rice. It came out quick and was a generous portion. It came out with a spoon, but I was not given a napkin. The guy next to me had the same with his gumbo. He asked for a napkin and was given some of the little black cocktail napkins. The rest of the people eating had nice cloth napkins. The red beans and rice were not as good as the first time I ordered them. The red beans were luke warm and half of the rice was hard. For these reasons I deducted two stars from my review. I ordered a small bread pudding for dessert and it was awesome. All in all I paid about $20 and left full. I was overall satisfied but it could have been better with a little more attention to detail.

Like over priced deep fried batter? How about service that wanders around like ghosts in Ms Pac-Man? 21 dollars for 12 medium sized shrimp? How is this Cajun? The crawfish, what a joke. I guess if you are 5 sheets to the wind this is a five star restaurant. The locals are idiots. I was told by everyone this is the best place in town. They are either alcoholics or have no idea what good food is. No sausage in the red beans sausage and rice which were sweeter than moms Apple pie. P.S. Even the iced tea was burnt

Really enjoyed this place. Stopped in for lunch and the parking lot was packed. Even so, the service was excellent and my meal came out quick. Had the Creamy Tasso and Crawfish Pasta and it was fantastic. Great Cajun Cuisine in a nice clean atmosphere.

Great Fresh Food, the Oysters are very good. The red beans and rice is delicious. The fried foods taste awesome. The place is very clean consistent and produce quality foods. The staff is knowledgeable and take pride in their work.

The food here is ok, the oysters Rockefeller and a couple of the pasta dishes were fine but not over the top. The service was excellent, but they are pretty pricey

My review last time was spot on. It's the Cajun Applebees. I was dragged her kicking and screaming by a coworker because he wanted oysters. Do the oysters in New Orleans, don't try to replicate that here in Lafayette. The locals seem to like this place because it's not touristy. Guess what, I'm a tourist. Some semblance of ambiance might help this place. The drafts were 8 oz, and very expensive, unlike Applebees. Get out of here with that weak stuff! That ish don't fly with a native Texan.

Fezzo's is an occasional lunch stop for my family and I when we are driving back and forth between Houston and New Orleans. They serve a typical array of Cajun type dishes, seafood, and steaks. The food is pretty good, but I have always been a little turned off by the prices... it is, I think, unreasonably expensive for the type of dishes served and the for the local market. There are a couple of other restaurants in the general area that are similarly themed and better priced. BOTTOM LINE: Good food and atmosphere, a little overpriced.

  • John S.

2 adults on a Saturday night. Service was friendly. Food was above average, yet a bit pricey. Had the crab and corn soup, good yet could have been hotter. Had the Caesar salad, had olives in it, interesting, with a mix of romain and iceberg lettuce. Wife had a half of shrimp poboy, was ok. Overall nothing remarkable to bring me back.

This is a small, relatively new "chain" of two restaurants. Both offer real authentic Cajun seafood & meats. The stuff which is not available in New Orleans ! The owners and cooks are from the area and know what they are doing. This is wonderful Cajun country cooking; can't be beat. If you are on IH-10 and miss the exit, there is another Fezzo's in 15 or 18 miles, in either direction.

  • David A.

I had the chargrilled oysters and a cup of seafood gumbo. Best gumbo I've ever had. Oysters were pretty small but the flavor made up of it. Will order the exact same thing next time I'm in town.

Stopped at Fezzo's after coming from Lacassine on a work trip. I am originally from the Southwest LA area so I expected some pretty good food. I was disappointed. I had a shrimp etouffee baked potato and the etouffee was not a good consistency. It tasted like it came out of a jar. I also had the hand battered onion rings as an appetizer and they were extremely bland. I know Lafayette has better restaurants than Fezzo's and I definitely won't be returning. The food just wasn't good. It was also pricey.

    (2)
  • Erik R.

Freindly staff. Fair prices. Reasonable side salad served on a plate much too small. Sauce and seafood on the pasta dishes was very good. I would return if passing by but would be unhappy if this was the best place to eat if I lived here.

Haven't had such good Cajun food for a long time! The boudin balls were delicious. The crawfish étouffée was wonderful and so was the seafood gumbo!

We went to Fezzo's after sitting in a boatload of traffic. I ordered the shrimp special. It comes with shrimp gumbo, a salad, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, shrimp etouffe and stuffed shrimp. The shrimp gumbo was among the best I have ever had (I don't take that statement lightly). It is a shrimp and okra gumbo and it tasted phenomenal. Everything else was also awesome. This really was an excellent meal. Lauren S. was our waitress. She is also awesome. She has the #2 accent on my accent rating scale (Boston #1, Acadiana # 2). I highly recommend this place.

We were driving back from Florida and decided to stop here for lunch. We'd had some bad meal experiences in Florida and had some poorly done seafood. I needed to rinse my mouth and erase the memory of the sub-par food we'd had- Fezzo's def did that! They offer a lunch menu- which I love- and I ordered the fried catfish off of it. You also get a salad and a roll on the side. -The salad was simple but tasted cool and very fresh. -The catfish was fire-hot, fresh out of the fryer. It was light and perfectly cooked. Devine! -Don't miss out on eating the roll- it was awesome! I was spying on other people's dishes around me and everyone's food looked super tasty- I look forward to eating here again when passing thru the area next time.

Ordered the grilled oyster app, very good. Crab cake just ok. Hubby said same about étouffée. Expensive for what we got.

My 1st experience at Fezzos it was awesome the food was delicious!! And my favorite appetizer "Fresh Oysters" !!! The service was 1st class! So if you come out to Scott Louisiana you got to try this place!!

  • Bruce B.

Leave your favorite hot sauce at home because their dishes are seasoned like Cajun food is supposed to be. Smothered eggplant was a delicious appetizer and the crab and corn bisque was memorable. Gumbo roux was darker than I prefer but good down to the last drop. Fried catfish was cut into the proper sized strips but could have been crispier. Side selections were high quality, suggest the onion rings, sweet potato fries and grilled veggies. Atmosphere was nice. And everyone encounter had a smile on their face and was very pleasant.

I had made this a regular stop on our yearly trips from Florida to Texas for several years, but for the last two years, we had not made this trip. On our trip this year, we once again stopped here for lunch. The place was extremely busy with all kinds of holiday parties and get togethers going on. We did get a table fairly quickly, and ordered our lunch. When we received our food it was not hot but luke warm at best, and the food certainly did not match the quality that we had been accustomed to in the past. We left feeling let down by the experience, but the worst part was yet to come. We had never had an issue with the food here, but on this trip, both my wife and I had indigestion and I got a mild case of diarrhea, which is not good when you are traveling. After this years stop, I think we will look elsewhere for a good lunch stop for our trip.

having spent years in louisiana was passing I10 lunch time on way to houston figured would grab a quick bite tourist trap...gumbo was overwhelmed by roux and bland very little seafood, no crawfish or crab visible, small frozen salad type shrimp poboy "dressed" was floating in mayonaise and only had about 6 shrimp save your money and go to McDonalds next door wish I had seafood clearly frozen imported shrim

My son and I stopped here on the way back to New Orleans. The atmosphere is very nice, and the service was great. The food was delicious, too. My son had the kid's fried catfish plate which came with fries. The catfish was the fluffiest, and best, I've ever had. It was delicious. I had the grilled shrimp and crawfish salad, and added the crab meat. It was also very good. I only gave it four stars because of the one thing that will probably keep me from going back: The prices. The kids' catfish was $7.99, and the seafood salad I had was $14.99, and the crab meat add on was $3.99 (not bad for crab). Many, many other places, both dishes can be had for less. Most of the menu items are in the $16-$25 range, and many seemed too pricey for what they were. Everything was delicious, but unless someone else is paying, I probably won't be back.

OK - so I know NOTHING about Cajun cuisine. Other than what anyone knows who lives in New England. Nada, really. So here goes: 1) Ambiance: Basic Warehouse with a few Wooden and Brick Accents. Lighting: standard Industrial. (Should I be manning my forklift?) 2) menu: deceptive. We ordered a grilled shrimp dinner, after We were told by the waitress that the shrimp were fresh local Jumbo Gulf shrimp. The shrimp that arrived were at best medium sized, half-dollar in diameter, not even remotely Large. And many leagues away from Jumbo! That said, they were deliciously seasoned. The salad was a small soup bowl of shredded limp-ish romaine trimmed with two cherry tomatoes, box-croutons, and Ranch dressing. Beer plentiful - steins very small. Service serviceable - brisk & efficient. Price for 4 beers and one grilled shrimp dinner (that sad little salad and one side, 16 shrimpy shrimps): $38 and tip. WAY too much moolah! Yikes! Never again!

Stick to the Cajun food here. The waitress talked me into ordering seafood enchiladas which were so inedible I sent them back after two bites. They comped that and I got the seafood gumbo instead which was much better. Boudin balls were good. It took forever to be seated and waited on. The wait staff and hostesses look like they're in high school and they haven't been well trained. Expensive for what you get.

The fried alligator was tender and oh so yummy. I have had better crawfish étouffée but I still enjoyed it. Definitely a good place to stop on I10 for some cajun food. The menu is HUGE so be ready to have lots and lots of choices. The seafood poboy was huge and had lots of different seafood inside.

Eating at a restaurant on the side of the interstate highway doesn't usually equate to good food, but Fezzo's sure hits the spot. I had the Creamy Crawfish and Tasso pasta. A rich and flavorful sauce with succulent crawfish tails and Tasso (spiced ham) over angel hair pasta. Oww Eee! It was so good, and just thinking about it makes my mouth water. A couple of pieces of toasted bread helped me sop up the sauce of the plate. Waitress asked if I licked it clean; sho look like I did! Next time I drive to New Orleans I plan on stopping at Fezzo's to and from The Big Easy.

We are here for a soccer tournament first of all, traveling with 45 parents and players. Anyone who has done this knows that eating as a team can be a nightmare, but the staff here was amazing!! Wr reserved a table..tables..and they were ready for us, not only was it just us but several other teams also. Not one order wrong, fast service, fast food and was warm when we got out, simply the best service we have had as a team! I had to find the manager and actually thank him and his team of excellent servers and cooks.

A solid local option along otherwise bleak I-10. The service here is warm as is the restaurant environment. They can accomodate a good number of people and it's clear they do a brisk business. I've visited several times and find that the food is consistent. Maybe not outstanding, but surely very good, especially in comparison to other nearby alternatives. On this visit I ordered the "Fezzo's Trio" of soups. One chooses three soups, which are all served at the same time on a small platter, but in their own individual cups of course! I heartily recommend the crawfish bisque, which was rich and full of crawfish, and even contained one small crawfish shell stuffed with a delectible dressing. The red beans with sausage were flavorful and surely conveyed the Louisiana comfort food qualities one expects. The seafood gumbo was disappointing, as the only seafood noticed were small shrimp with the shrunken, mushy quality exhibited after being in the pot too long. Overall, however, a solid experience that will encourage me to stop again when shuttling between Baton Rouge and Houston.

Cajun food at it's most mediocre and be sure to check your bill for food you didn't order , at these prices every bowl of bread counts unless you can throw money away, the pasta is the worst joke ever don't get it, the etoufe is a joke I would have sent it back but it took so long to get the food i just wanted to get the heck out of there, I ate there several years ago which is why we went back, I will not go back there are lotys of great places to eat the area with good food. Maybe the owners should sell to someone who doesn't have full pockets yet and still care about the customer. all in all I felt very ripped off when I left the place

Shrimply delicious! Had the shrimp dinner half grilled half fried. Next time I would get all grilled! 8 pieces would not have been enough, 16 pieces was just right! The roll was more like a donut without iciing, not what I expected. Attentive waitress, thank you, Shea!

  • Ashley N.

Great stop if you are driving I-10 near Lafayette! very nice atmosphere! The crab cake is to die for!!!! The best I've had! It is covered in Crawfish Etoufee! OMG....now I'm hungry just thinking about it. Prices are moderate, not bad for the amount of food you get, and it's really good food!

  • Aquene D.

One word: LAME! I may be a Yankee, but I can cook like a Cajun. My Lafayette friends can attest to that, but when I was told to go to Fezzo's for their "amazing" gumbo, I was shocked! My friend was in town visiting from Maine and he wanted to have gumbo on his last day here. We went on a Sunday afternoon. I ended up ordering the shrimp half and half (grilled shrimp and shrimp étouffée) and he got a sampler trio of chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice with sausage, and corn and crab bisque. Maybe it was an off day for them, but still... Everything was lacking spice, taste, and I can't believe I'm saying this, SALT! Come on people, Cajun food is supposed to be salty and spicy! The roux of the gumbo was light and thin, and the sausage was bland and dry. The crab and corn bisque tasted like the only ingredients were milk, crabmeat, and corn. My étouffée was okay, but I could have easily made it at home. The grilled shrimp were tossed in their house Cajun seasoning, and were pretty good, but that's something that's nearly impossible to mess up. The best part of the meal was the bread, and that's the reason for two stars. Service was slow and lacking as well. Sorry, not going back.

We're in town for the German Fest in Robert's Cove, and we headed over to Fezzo's for dinner tonight. I was a little tipsy when we ate here last year, but this year, I was stone cold sober, and the food was still awesome. Our waitress seemed a bit overworked, but she made it all good by acknowledging that she had not been on the ball before we had a chance to complain. Served us some Bread pudding on the house to make good. I'm not a bread pudding fan, but it was pretty tasty. I love their boudain balls, and the etoufe (spell?) is the best! I crave that stuff, and can't wait to get to LA to eat it! We'll likely be back tomorrow night for more great food.

The food here is decent, but not great. It is a little pricey as well. I would come back to try it again, especially since the service is very good.

I agree with the reviewer who said it was like cajun Applebees. It was close to where I was staying and the grilled catfish was good.

This was my first time at fezzo's restaurant and I must say this was the worst place that I have been to.the customer service is good but they overdo it ,I had a hamburger and I was disappointed with my Appetite and I laughed at the New York strip steak because it was awful but all in all It was not A GO and that's my review of this place.

Been here once and it was okay and nothing really memorable about it. Probably wouldn't go back here since there are a lot of better places to eat in the area.

Welcome to all side of the highway seafood places! It was extremely hard to not get something that wasn't deep fried or slathered in butter! Veggies.... check (deep fried)... Pasta, swimming with cream. It was a pretty good place to eat, fairly priced, service was ok... The drinks (water or soda) all had an interesting taste too it... and by interesting, I mean wayyyy too much chlorine! Not much else to report, but if you're looking for a nice place to increase your cholesterol, by all means hit this place up!

  • Bev S.

My husband and I have eaten here before and loved it. We weren't disappointed this time either. We wanted a good, but not too heavy lunch. So, I opted for the seafood gumbo and he had the chicken and sausage gumbo. We both ordered bowls instead of cups. Wow! The bowls were huge--probably 8" across and about 2" deep. The rice was served on the side, white and fluffy. Both of us had generous portions of meat or seafood and the roux it was simmered in was delicious. I couldn't finish all of mine, but I enjoyed every bite. The wait staff was attentive, but not aggravating. Our bill was brought in a timely manner and handled efficiently. We didn't feel rushed, but we didn't have to wait an unreasonable time either. All in all, another good Fezzo's experience.
