I ordered my food and got my drink, but that was it! Other people's food looked good but I left after 20 minutes of no wait staff checking or updating me on my order!!!!

One of the best meals I have had in a long time. I am a lover of Louisiana seafood and Tommy's is outstanding. The service was over the top! Our server, Morgan, never let us want for anything and extremely attentive. The boiled crawfish were full of flavor and some of the best I have had in years. The crab dip had chunks of lump folded in and was superb. I tried some of my daughters huge oyster poboy(on real NO French loaf) and I must say it was one of the better ones I have had. Very casual atmosphere with an eclectic crowd. A very nice touch was how the manager brought by samples of fresh smoked pork tenderloin for us to try and another time the owner stopped by to check on us. Definitely worth the drive from Baton Rouge. We will be back!

This place has very tasty food. They are known for seafood and that is what they should stick with... Their crawfish and other seafood items are great. I love the alligator balls they are great, even the fries are good!! They have wing night on Tuesdays they are not so good. They know nothing about wings. This was disappointing but on the bright side the rest of the food is very reassuring. The staff are very friendly and nice. They are always smiling and seem to really love their job. They are also so polite and makes you feel at home. It is always cold in this place like freezing which can make it feel a little uncomfortable but the food and great at home atmosphere will warm you right up.

Tommy's was good for a few months when it first opened, then it nose dived. Bad service, mediocre food. We stayed away for a couple years. Recently, there's new management team and staff in place, and they've remodeled. The food and service are MUCH better. It's worth going if you've never been, and worth going back if you were one of the disillusioned former patrons.

First time to eat here. Would have given it 4 stars but I just felt the waitress should have know more about the items on the menu. Good service just lacked information. Food was good. Will try again soon and see it it gets the extra star.

Great service and delicious food. We were very impressed with the portions and cleanliness. Cute decor!

Heard mixed reviews but wanted to try lunch for myself. Kind of dated dusty atmosphere. Ordered calamari for appetizer. All rings and all same size like prepackaged frozen, and tasted like it, chewy and bland. Normally fresh calamari comes with the separated tentacles and the rings are not all the exact same size. Ordered hamburger and fries. Fries were so so and hamburger to bun ratio was disproportionate. Hamburger tasted good but was smothered by the bun. The wait staff appeared to have lots of free time to goof and guffaw while there were areas that could use some extra attention. Just because the decor is like an old garage doesn't mean the dirt and cob webs should be a part of it. When dust and cobwebs hang from ceilings it's a simple assumption that it's in the food.

Being from San Diego, CA. This was our first time here in louisana and this was our first stop ... found this place by using yelp. And I must say we weren't disappointed at all! The red beans and rice was by far the best! We even tried some frog legs - not something we normally eat but it wasn't bad at all. Always fun to try new things when visiting new places. I wish I lived near by because I would totally take advantage of buying the fresh seafood in the raw bar! Tha KS for the great food and experience.

I finally got to try this place after hearing good things for quite awhile now. I was unfortunately pretty disappointed. It was not what I thought it would be. It's possible it was an "off" day, which is why I gave it three stars instead of two. We had the boiled shrimp which didn't have much flavor. They did put it back in the pot to help it out, but it only made a slight difference. We also had the Catfish w/crawfish étouffée. It was pretty good. I was in the mood for a crab cake sand which, which done right is very delicious. This is where we had the problem. The crab cake was huge...but dry. It had a ton of breading and very little crab. It felt like I was eating a sandwich with a piece of Texas toast in the middle. The waitress didn't even pay attention to the fact that I didn't eat the food. We told her and it was just like "oh I'm sorry!" And that was it. No offer to make the situation better... Simply put it was 12.95 waisted, smh. Don't think I'll be back any time soon.

Finally home and stopped by to get something to eat the bartender was great but the fish was really good and well seasoned.. Will be back very soon

Great place. Shrimp n grits are legit.

Came here after a day at blue bayou. Had the pepper jack crab dip and a couple combo platters. The food was fresh and delicious. Fried seafood was not over-battered. Our waiter, Collin was amazing and very helpful. Also, the macaroni was so good.

SO glad we stopped here! Recently moved to the Baton Rouge area and, after driving past this place over a dozen times, took the plunge. Ordered the combo platter with Catfish and Gator (DUH) and was very satisfied. 4 stars because 1) They say on the menu they charge .50 per each additional tartar sauce and the one they gave me was 1/2 full.... (They didn't end up charging me tho, so I dunno how stern they are on that rule) 2) Our waiter was either new, or clueless, or both 3) I feel like the gator was a little overcooked. It was a little rubbery. DAT CATFISH DOE!

4 1/2 stars. I found Tommy's Fish House after playing a round of golf up the street. I called to see if they were open still BC they close early on Sunday and Christian said to come in but he only had crawfish left. We started off with a dozen of oysters on the half shell for only $6.00 and ordered 5lbs of crawfish for $19.97. The quality of oysters and crawfish were outstanding and the craw-fish was the freshest and some of the best tasting I've ever eaten! Christan who's the owners son was hospitable and so friendly. I chatted with him about their seafood distribution business and restaurants which I found out are family run. This establishment is not only a restaurant but they offer fresh seafood for purchase and was completely sold out being it was the end of the weekend. The place seemed like a locals favorite BC many of the patrons were coming in just to pick up the boiled craw-fish to go and is made with their own special recipe. If you're in the Baton Rouge area don't miss this gem of a place or check out their finer dinning location in New Orleans called Redemption. The building just turned 100 years old and was a church at one time and is their second restaurant location.

This seafood is exactly what I needed! I've wanted a good, old-fashioned fish and shrimp platter for a while. First, the decor was very authentic, as if you were on a fishing dock in New Orleans or Pensacola. The smell was exactly what I'd been missing when I'd dined at other seafood restaurants - a mixture of salt water, fresh seafood, and hot grease frying Gulf coast seafood. This can probably be partly attributed to the seafood market connected to the restaurant. My order came out swiftly and was piping hot! The salad vegetables were crisp, and the perfect appetizer to enjoy before diving into the seafood platter. The fries were buttery and crispy and the fish and shrimp were fried to perfection - not too soft or too hard. The fish just flaked off and melted into my mouth and the shrimp had a sweet and briny flavor. I enjoyed watching Sports Center as I dined, and the waiter was attentive. I ordered a slice of house-made cheesecake with raspberry sauce to-go. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the creamy, sweet treat! The cocktail was delicious, but the only reason I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars is because I think more flavor could be imparted into the hush puppies (corn kernels, bell pepper, and onion) and tartar (thin out a little and add more sweet relish and onion) and remoulade sauces (more spice, horseradish, etc.). Everyone should visit Tommy's Fish House to experience a beautifully cooked, old-fashioned , Louisiana seafood platter! Sometimes you just want it how you remember it...GOOD!!

Super casual place to grab a quick bite to eat. We got there for about 5 and there were maybe three tables occupied. I ordered the grilled shrimp po-boy while the hubs ordered the combo plate. He had shrimp, alligator, and catfish on top a bed of fries. There were SO many shrimp on my sub! It was really yummy! Husband lived the gator, said it was cooked perfectly. Missing star is for our waitress. She was hanging out way too much with some young patron, possibly a boyfriend. Several times we had to wait on her to come to the table.
(4)Angie H.
Service was great. Overpriced for the food quality though. Got raw oysters and crab cakes. The oysters were just ok. The crab cakes had so much shell in them that I finally gave up on trying to eat them. I was also really disappointed at the TV choice. We were eating lunch, about 12:30pm, with our three young children. They had some movie blaring that was extremely violent and had way too much foul language. Not good at all. We will probably not return.
(3)Marie S.
Food was pretty good. It was packed on a Saturday night. They ran out of crawfish, but the tuna steak i had had a nice sesame sauce glaze that was fantastic. Got the calamari appetizer and it tasted like it was frozen and not fresh.
(3)Laurie J.
The atmosphere is FUN! We had an adorable young man as our waiter. He made a few mistakes but was so darn nice about it I can't complain. The food was FANTASTIC. The batter on the fried shrimp and oysters was very delicate and delish! I WILL be going back there.

I grew up New Orleans and moved to BR in 1995. I've been looking for a good casual New Orleans style seafood restaurant since I moved here. I finally found it with Tommy's Fish house. I started with the raw oysters. They were big, plump and salty. They also provided the ketchup, Worcestershire and horseradish, and lemons to fix up your own cocktail sauce like any good oyster bar should. I ordered the BBQ shrimp, and it came out with the shrimp heads still on and the sauce was loaded with just the right amount of garlic, lemon, Rosemary and cayenne. It also had six pieces of real NOLA french bread for dipping. I had a side of cheese grits that was perfect for mixing with the sauce. It was as good or better than any BBQ shrimp I've had in NOLA including Manales, and it sure beat the pants off another restaurant in BR that serves the be shrimp already peeled with actual BBQ sauce on top (gross). My wife ordered the blackened grouper and I could tell it was very fresh and not overdone with seasoning. We finished with the bread pudding topped with melted white chocolate sauce and it was piping hot and too large to finish. The service was also excellent. I asked to speak to the owner at the end to find out where he was from, and he told me that he's from St. Bernard and has relationships with the fishermen and the guys that work the docks so he is able to get the fresh seafood shipped up. He also owns the restaurant that used to be Christian's in mid city and he has brought the chef from there to work in this restaurant. I've been to that restaurant in once and it was also very impressive, but it is a fine dining establishment. Anyway, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good casual seafood place that reminded me a lot of you would find on the lakefront in West End. I can't wait to go back and try their roast beef poboy!

Nice place. It is one of my wifes favorites, she's much more of a fan of seafood than I am. I like the atmosphere though, it reminds me of some of the old school catfish houses in the country that I would go to with my family many moons ago. They have a nice little market attached to the restaurant which seems shut down sometimes but we've bought shrimp and other things there on occasion. They have amazing fresh shrimp and prawns etc and good prices. I find their market seafood to be much higher quality than that of a grocery store market. Overall I think its a great place.

BEST place to buy fresh seafood!! I have only eaten here a few times and the food has always been good...especially the potato salad!! Their soft shell crabs are another favorite of mine, but the real money spot is in the back. The selection of seafood always varies but is always fresh and delicious. Rumor has it that they are opening a meat market too...can't wait!!
(4)Jill T.
Had dinner there this past weekend. The raw and fried oysters were very good! My son gave his hamburger the same rating. The service was PERFECT- friendly, timely, and accommodated my special requests with ease. Andrew and Molly are the two servers that I have encountered and they are very friendly and helpful. I can definitely tell there is better management, etc. Great atmosphere. I will be back soon!
(5)Carol L.
Inconsistent. I have a problem paying 12.00 a glass for wine in a mediocre restaurant. Service is great and there is an Iraq vet working there. Its just if I am going to pay that much for a glass of wine I prefer better overall food.
(2)Emily M.
Pretty good little spot--not amazing, but not too bad, either. I guess I would really give it more like 3.5 stars. The boiled shrimp are awesome, and the comfortable atmosphere is nice--very family-friendly. The salad dressing was watered-down and the sides weren't great, but the fried fish and fresh seafood were tasty. *update: bumping it up a star due to really tasty fried seafood to-go last time. Awesome hush-puppies and onion rings, as well! We'll be back soon!

I have eaten here several times. The food is good but the service is inconsistent at best. My last visit was during LSU first game of the season and They were very slow. I sat at the bar to eat. When I was asked what I wanted to drink I ordered a tea at which the staff member made a face of disgust and left. I was then waited on by another who was friendly but never returned after my meal Was delivered. I never was offered a refill even though staff was constantly there either getting drinks or in the case of One was sitting on a stool a few Feet away. Several times Staff looked at my empty glass and Just walked by. A manager type came Out and sat at the bar and chatted with others but did not direct any staff. When I finished I got up and Went to the regeatet where the person On the stool actually looked away and 2 others just looked at me while I held out my credit card. Finally the manager told them to take the mans money. Not going back.

First time for lunch. Tried the fried catfish and was flavorful. Thought it should have come with hush puppies. Cole slaw was good too. Service was excellent but then again was not a busy lunch crowd. Will be back.
(4)Rebecca T.
Poboys made with Liedenheimer bread from NO! Just one of the many reasons I'd go back. Friendly service. Reasonably priced seafood. I liked the potato salad. Shrimp poboy was delish but there were several interesting menu items.
(4)Sarah H.
The waiting staff sucked. Sitting at my table I could hear the boys bragging to each other about "who nailed what girl". The girls weren't much help either. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come get our drink orders. $71 for a salad, hamburger steak and fries, a cup of soup, a bowl of etouffe, and a poboy. It really wasn't that amazing. I should've just stayed home and cooked myself. I heard some good stuff about this place but was completely disappointed.

Awesome food great service and decor makes you feel like you down in da bayou,.. I visit often
(5)Damona G.
The food here is excellent and the prices are reasonable. I have been to Tommy's on two occasions. The first time we had shrimp and oyster poboys. They were the closest thing to a real New Orleans poboy that you can find in the Baton Rouge area. We have also had the boiled crabs, which were meaty and just the right amount of spice. The fried seafood combo was great as well. Unfortunately the service is just not good. Our first visit was in the late afternoon and there were only a few tables. It appeared that the server was overwhelmed, although it was not busy. Since this was our first visit we were willing to give it another try because the food was so good. Our second visit was on a Friday night and I can only describe the service scene as chaotic. We had to ask for everything from placing our order to water and silverware. I eventually had to find another server and ask for refills on drinks...twice. I found out later that a server had quit that evening but I am not sure an extra server could have helped the situation. I will not be back nor can I recommend this restaurant, which is a shame because the food is very good, just not good enough to overcome the deplorable service.

Loved this little quaint place. The decor is very much like an old fish house. The food is tasty and a little bit cheaper than other cajun places. We went on a Saturday night and the place was kind of empty, but it was nice to not have to wait and the service was excellent. I had the shrimp and grits which was great and my husband had the fried seafood platter which he said was good. They have great tartar sauce too. All around a good little find!
(4)Vicki K.
Something has happened to the quality of the seafood! The fried shrimp used to be large, butterflied, beautiful, golden and awesome. Now the fried shrimp are small (the shrimp platter is supposed to have larger shrimp) greasy, overcooked and tasteless! What happened??? The fries are limp and very greasy and if you don't eat them immediately, they are awful. What happened??? Tommy's used to be the "go to" for seafood. Now, I do not think I will go back. Very disappointing. My friend had a crawfish/pasta dish and he remarked on the taste of the dish - none. It really breaks my heart to have a wonderful restaurant go down like Tommy's has. Also, the house cocktail sauce is ketchup and the tarter sauce is watery mayo...yuk.
(1)Marchand W.
Went for lunch with a coworker on a search for the best shrimp poboy. We were pleasently surprised. The service was good. Had a welcoming atmosphere. Will probably return. Great fries.
(3)Mark B.
Good lunch place. Had the shrimp lunch special. Small but tasty. Casual attentive service .
(3)Jim G.
Good food but the wait was painfully long. We were hungry so we ordered our meal without appetizers. That was a mistake. If we had an appetizer it would have helped us get past the hour plus wait. We might go back but there are a lot of other places we want to try first. The food was good but not worth the wait.
(4)Tonya G.
What a charming lil Seafood place, fresh seafood and cooked to perfection! if you are looking for fresh seafood and really great service, this is the place! Their fried shrimp are amazing!
(5)Chris V.
Tommy's Fish House features fantastic, uber fresh seafood with unbelievable service. Since this place has opened, its popularity has surged in the Baton Rouge and Prairieville areas. The shrimp poboys this place serves are large enough to feed two people. The staff here are really friendly also, and they make you know that they appreciate your business. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys eating seafood.
