I've tried this place two times. Both times were just not good. Appetizers are generally ok, but entrees missed the mark. French fry poboys generally come dripping with gravy. At Galvez Seafood, you have to ask for the gravy and the waitress looks at you like a freak. Crawfish étouffée was just way too salty. The grilled shrimp plate was flavorless. I most likely won't be going back.

Great food for lunch or dinner. Server Pam was great and friendly. We ate southwest eggrolls which were delicious with a jalapeño type dipping sauce....great!! And my husband had fried catfish very crisp and fresh. Always has daily specials and great dinner options!

My family & I come in every week and usually have a decent time. We get the same server most of the time (which is okay with us because she is always wonderful and never leaves us waiting) but this time we come in and have 5 in our group. (Usually have more, not a big group correct?) well the hostess told us it would be about 10-15 min wait for us, which was not a problem! As we waited not only did I see an option for them to push a table together not once but TWICE. The girls were obviously too busy talking to one another than to actually work and push two tables together. She was just waiting for one of the big tables to come open. I honestly think she forgot about us or just didn't care. I have worked in a restaurant and this isn't how you will keep your guest in your restaurant. But when we finally got tired of waiting, we just stood up and left, as the hostess and servers just looked as us as they were in shock. But it's okay we took our money to Dutch's, and enjoyed our meals.!

Not happy. The shrimp poboy and fries were decent. Truly an average dinner. My issue is with the wait staff. I went and picked up my supper to go and the girls behind the counter were exceptionally rude. They were playing in their phones and didn't even see me for several minutes. There was an issue with my bill and they basically told me I was wrong ( nope- they were). I was very unhappy with the service and they will NEVER get my money again.

Owner refused to honor a restaurant.com gift certificate I had. It was valid, I purchased it myself. (It is a Groupon type site) My fiancé and I were treated so rudely when I presented it we will NEVER be back.

If you want a ok meal with bad service this is the place for you. Wait staff is always on there phones are talking to there friends forget about get a refill on your drinks been here at least 6 times before hopeing they get better

On the road, places begin to blur together into a drab shade of Meh. While visiting family in BR, we needed a quick lunch and ended up at Galvez Seafood. I couldn't decide on which po'boy and got two halves. One crawfish and the other fried oyster. My companions also ordered the boudan balls as an appetizer. All of our meals came prompt, hot and quite tasty. The po'boys had just the right mix of veg to meat and the buns were perfect for the support role. Driving past you might think this is a strip mall fish shop. Stepping in, you might think it's more a sports bar with a restaurant. Tasting the food and you will know they got it right. I'm a fan and if I'm ever driving through Galvez again, I'll stop by for a visit.

This was our first visit and I didn't go in expecting very much, but I was surprised. The fried shrimp had a VERY good seasoning in the breading and the steak was fantastic. It was cooked to the right temperature, seasoned well, and had a great grill char. Baked potatoes were fresh. I'll go back.

My little boy and I dinned in.. He had the kids fried catfish, which was completely over cooked and looked like it had just floated in the oil entirely too long . I ordered a bacon cheese burger with no lettuce and tomatoes and it was brought out with absolutely clear raw bacon with lettuce and tomatoes, I told the waiter and he was really nice about it and sent it back. The burger came back with cooked bacon and lettuce and tomatoes still on the burger.. Food was not good!

Hands down best steak I have EATEN! and I try steak everywhere we go. service is usually decent but when we had a large party in the server freaked and rushed us the entire way. seafood salad is my 2nd tag but it's a 50/50 shot on if the fish is fishy.

Gumbo and shrimp and corn soup are to die for!!!!! And don't leave without their bread pudding! Their food is good but the soup and bread pudding is an always must!

We've eaten here several times and it's been great! The service is usually good and the good is fresh and really good. Their fried food is all good, but their steak is amazing!! We really enjoy the steak and shrimp because it's a taste of both. The steak has a fantastic grill flavor that keeps us coming back. They some of the best boudin balls around and the atmosphere is always friendly and relaxed. It's great for a quick lunch or a nice family meal at the end of a long day.

Ok, there are a few reasons why I like this place! It is very close to home, and one of the ONLY places to go grab a (good draft!) beer in this area aside from Nooley's. I like the atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly. This place COULD be my go-to spot for a beer or a sandwich, but there is one reason I decided I'm not going to be going back here for while and here is why: The food is just not good enough for the price. The menu is pretty boring! Theres nothing wrong with a boring menu if the food is excellent, and I don't mind paying for excellent food either... but this place does not have excellent food. It just doesn't. It's just ok, and sometimes its not even ok. One night I had the spaghetti and meatballs special... was SHOCKED at the price. It was just a simple plate of angel hair pasta with what was very obviously jar or can basic sauce, with two giant cold meatballs that were the only homemade thing on the plate. This plate of food was FOURTEEN DOLLARS! I was so shocked I decided that I just couldn't rightfully go back there again anytime soon for such mediocre food at such a crazy price!!! If the plate was 8 or 9 dollars (still way more than it's worth!) , I'd say heck yeah. But not $14!!! I have had other unusual experiences here (think chicken fried steak gravy rinsed off the steak under the faucet and put back on the plate, right before my eyes!!! TRUE STORY.) but I won't get into those. I hate to leave a crappy review of a restaurant in my area, but I'm only doing it because I WANT to go here. I like it! I like the staff, too. They're great. Just rethink your menu and your prices! Make your menu a little more fun and adventurous and I will be back for sure. Better craft beer selection would also be a plus :)
