Always great every time we visit. Their lunch specials are wonderful!

Awesome original Louisiana fare with just the right touch of piquant and THE BEST cheeseburger on the Northshore!

This place is mediocre at best. I've been a few times, and haven't been overly impressed. My meatball sandwich had one whole meatball cut into quarters, and when I asked about it, they did bring me another two meatballs. My fries were cold to the touch, but I figured I wouldn't fuss about that after I'd already complained about the meatballs. The service was good, but I think the server left her good attitude at home. I probably won't be coming back. All in all, I'm not impressed.

My sister and I have been here several times and are always impressed. Excellent food and service. We highly recommend the shrimp and crab au gratin appetizer, veal parmesan, and thin crust veggie pizza. Excited to try something else!

We are visiting from Maryland and decided to give NOLA a try. The dinning experience was excellent. We really enjoyed our Shrimp au gratin appetizer, Shrimp Po Boy, and 1/2 pound cheddar bacon burger. The bread pudding was a stand out. We will definitely dine there again.

Stay with the regular menu. It is really good, all if it! The best has to be any of the veal dishes. I can only give two down sides to NOLA. They don't have draft beer (bottle only) & the chef's specials are not always so special... just pricy. Considerating how much is on the regular menu, two not so great things is pretty good. :)

Haven't ever had anything bad here! Great food and staff. Highly recommend their burgers or fish especially the redfish. Will be back definitely.

Enroute to Florida for the Christmas holidays, when we had to detour for an Urgent Care clinic visit - long story....for another Yelp review ;-). Off our beaten path, where shall we go for a (non-fast food or chain restaurant) yummy late lunch on Christmas Eve? THANK YOU fellow Yelpers for recommending Cafe NOLA, which, while a bit pricey ($70+ for lunch and drinks for 2 adults and 2 toddlers), was worth every cent! The hubby ordered the 8oz filet and steamed veggies, plus an add on of shrimp and crab? au gratin. Um....can we say "the BEST tasting steak I've ever tasted at a restaurant" good?! EVERYTHING we ordered and ate was absolutely mouth-watering, fantastic deliciousness: Steak, steamed veggies, seafood au gratin dish, and my shrimp alfredo (lunch special), even the little side-salad (tip: try the bleu cheese dressing!)! My tots loved the kid's meal of chicken strips and fries (one order was enough for them to share, with some leftover). Our entrees came with slices of french bread for dipping, and my lunch special came with their famous bread pudding. Yes, just as the other Yelpers have reported: It's the best bread pudding I've ever had. Service was awesome: Everything came out quick, hot, fresh, and exceeded any expectations we had, and our server was helpful, courteous, friendly, and efficient. FYI: Bathrooms seemed a bit dated and ....well, used. ;-) However, there was a diaper changing table, which makes them awesome in my book. (Hubby says there isn't a changing table in the men's room, for any dynamic daddies who might be wondering.)

The lunch prices are a great value. Specials change daily and I have tried most of them. The root beer reduction sauce is a little sweet for my taste, but everything else is really good. I'm picky about seafood, but the fried shrimp plate was really fresh and perfectly seasoned. The wait staff was attentive, but not intrusive. The atmosphere is modern and casual, great place to grab lunch with a few friends.

We were visitors to the area and came here because of reviews on Yelp and because our hotel gave us a coupon for "Buy one entree, get second 50% off." We were there on Sunday - I ordered from the brunch menu - the "stack" of 2 eggs over 2 crab cakes and a biscuit with grits on the side. My poached eggs were perfect and the biscuit was very nice - but the crab in the crab cakes was non existent - seemed like mostly filler. I love grits and these were "okay" but really had way too much cream in them. My husband ordered the meatball sandwich off the regular menu. He ate the meatballs and a few french fries, but said overall it wasn't great. The service was good but the ambiance lacked a lot. I envisioned something more upscale, but what we found was a place set back in a small shopping strip, with TVs all blaring the football game. I wasn't looking for a sports bar for Sunday Brunch! To top it off, we couldn't use the coupon - they said it was for another part of the restaurant that offered take out meals that one can prepare at home. Please tell me why they would give coupons for heat-at-home meals to a hotel!! We drove on through Ponchatoula, exploring some of the area and found several other places for sale. In my opinion, they would have been ahead to buy one of the smaller older homes on the main route for the restaurant and have a nice place without the TVs. A little ambiance might have even made the food taste better!!!!

The food is great and the service is very good as well. I've eaten here and done take-out many of occasions since they opened and never had a problem. I've always recommended the place and its a treat to take the family here. The seafood is great, love the Mojo oysters. The burgers and sandwiches are very good. The steaks aren't too bad either. Its a little pricey. Yes, the food is good but be prepared to spend a bit more than other restaurants like this in the area.

Probably some of the worst customer service I've ever had. The waitress acted like we were asking her to walk to China when I asked if I could get a refill . The food was horribly overpriced and not that great.

There are few non-chain places to eat in Ponchatoula, so when something like Cafe Nola comes along, you have to love it. And they don't disappoint. They're one of the many stories of Katrina restaurants moving to a new location and opening up with the same concept, just in a new city. We went for a birthday lunch on a Saturday, so the place was pretty empty, except for one other large group. Thus, we got pretty quick service and the food was prepared well. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: The Frenchman sandwich: 5/5 I loved the fried green tomatoes next to the large grilled shrimp. Very good! Eggplant Zydaco - 5/5 Also a hit. The crawfish and eggplant were both prepared perfectly over a huge portion of angel hair pasta. Muffaletta - 2/5 It was cold in the middle and had barely any olive salad on it. A disappointment Hushpuppies Side - 2/5 For $3 or $4, you get for small hushpuppies. Though quite tasty, doesn't seem worth the price. Fries Side - 5/5 On the other hand, you get a huge basket of big, golden french fries for the price Red Beans Special - I didn't try it so can't give a rating but they ate it all, so that says something! Bread Pudding 5/5 Save room for the bread pudding! Great flavor and texture. Yum! Looking forward to going back!

What's the point of ordering a salad if you are just going to cover it with deep fried oysters and croutons? Uh...because it's delicious?! (Don't worry though, I intentionally skimped on the dressing...and I'm doing 30 extra minutes of cardio as we speak...) Seriously, the oysters were breaded, seasoned, and deep fried to perfection. Yum! I think the crab cakes are another great option on the menu. The crab meat to bread crumb ratio is a little on the low end, but nothing worth whining about. With the spicy sauce that comes on the side, this appetizer cannot be beat! One last item to rave about: the bread pudding!! I'm not typically a big fan of sweets - or pudding, for that matter - but Cafe Nola's bread pudding is to die for. Especially at 4am before a 10 hour shift. It's perfectly soggy and drenched in condensed milk, but not sickeningly sweet either...I'm going to have to make my own bread pudding at home this weekend to satisfy my craving... :9 I wasn't a huge fan of the pasta fazula though. I only ordered it because one of the hostesses recommended it and I was having a hard time making up my mind. It was way too creamy and way too much pasta for me. I ended up just picking out the shrimp and tossing half my plate of pasta. Bahh. All in all, Cafe Nola is a fantastic place for a quick lunch or dinner. I only wish I was staying in Hammond for a few more days so I could try out more of their menu. (:

Outstanding in all areas. Service was great. Wife got the eggplant zydeco. It was out of this world, the sauce had a crawfish and andouille flavor witch was out of this world. It was seasoned just right and everything just blended together so well. I got the pasta fazull . It was some of the best I have ever had. The cream sauce tasted so good and had crabmeat in the sauce. The shrimp were nice and big and had plenty of shrimp over a penne pasta. The seasoning was perfect. They give you huge portions, so I had to take some back to the hotel. It was just as good later that night after I warmed it in the microwave. If you haven't gone there yet, please do. We went on a Saturday night and there were only a few people. I would hate to lose such a gem of a restaraunt.

Here on business and found this place via yelp. The service was great. I had the redfish with a cream sauce which had real crab meat. The presentation was so so but it tasted very good. Nice wine selection and the bread pudding was "WOW". I'll come again if here.

First time there, we were just passing through and found this gem! The shrimp PoBoy was excellent as well as the muffaletta. Wish it was closer to try the rest of the menu!

Went with a coworker for a quick lunch. We haven't herd of this restaurant before but based on reviews we had to try it. I'm so happy we did! The atmosphere, food and service was all GREAT! We both had burgers and they were so good I can't even begin to explain. The only issue is now I have the ITIS and I don't want to go back to work. This place is a must GO!!

Great place and good lunch specials! Had the grilled catfish lunch portion and it was delicious. The service was outstanding! I would definitely come back.
