A perfect escape from the heat. Very yummy ice cream.

This place was fantastic! We had the lasagna and a salad with homemade italian dressing, and the Etna panini with risotto. It was all very delicious! The homemade italian dressing was oh so good, and the lasagna was yummy as well. They went a little heavy on the cheese with the risotto, but it was still pretty darn good. The panini was crispy and very well-done and filling. We also had biscotto gelato that was FANTASTIC. It was hard making a choice because every one we sampled was really good. The courtyard is soooo pretty, too, with these great string lights and a wonderful atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice as well.

We came here two nights during our stay in New Orleans. On the first night, we had the ziti and the Etna panini. Our server was very sweet, offering to switch out the chicken in the panini for avocado when I told her I was a vegetarian. It was such a lovely dinner that we came again the next night. On the second night, we shared a potato pizza. The portion is very big-- four Sicilian slices. VERY filling! It was delicious, the best thing we tried at Little Vic's. We also tried the arancini, which is a fried rice ball filled with spinach, feta, or ragu. Great service at Vic's. The ambiance is simple and bright, with lovely beaded artwork along the walls and a charming quiet courtyard if you want to sit outside. Vic's is a perfect place for a balmy summer evening when you want to get away from the craziness of the French Quarter bars.

I'm going to admit that we were a little drunk when we made our way over here from Molly's... But, they have food and sweets in a pretty convenient part of the French Quarter. Prices aren't going to make you cry if you take a date here. The Amaretto gelato was amazing. It's great for kids, you can find better food than you'll find on Bourbon for a quarter of the price, and the lady behind the counter was super nice and chatty to everyone who came up to the counter.

While we only had coffee at Little Vic's, we had a great time. They serve Lavazza, which is usually pretty good. They serve their coffee strong, which I how I like it. Like many modern coffee shops you can get a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, but I take mine black only. They offer some food, but have a great selection of gelato flavors. Vics has a rich history - they have a few photos up of notable people. The one that caught my interest was the one of the original Vic with JFK - it looked like JFK was still young, probably a Senator at the time.

Little Vic's Ice Cream statue was a welcomed sight as I walked around the French Quarter on a hot, humid day. For $3.75, you'll receive a small scoop of gelato while a large will set you back $5.50. (A large is equivalent to about two scoops) Each flavor is homemade daily and I'm told, depending on the mood of the chef, the flavors can change daily as well. If you come in here and see either the Biscotti or Straciatella flavors, GET THEM BOTH! The biscotti has biscotti cookie crumbs mixed into the creamy, light chocolate dessert and the straciatella is a mixture of white/dark chocolate with diced almonds. The other flavors I had were Pistachio and Oreo which is pretty much cookies and cream. The employees all agreed Pistachio is their best selling flavor, but I felt it tasted like peanut ice cream flavor...not an enjoyably tasting one for me. ---- Conclusion: After two visits during my trip in New Orleans, I feel this Italian eatery has some impressive, great tasting gelato flavors that can compete with the best in SoCal. The only major flaw on both occasions were the stale ice cream cones. Despite that, I LOVE the back of the establishment which had an open roof, christmas lights, and mimicked an Italian Courtyard-- a very romantic touch. Little Vic's is a spot worth cherishing as ice creameries are sparse within the French Quarter. I'd love to come back for their food as well. Extra Notes: -Accepts credit card -Service was friendly and patient here -Decor has local art strewn about the walls -One TV at bar -Restoom could be cleaner

Cool atmosphere with great Sicilian style street food. Our server Matthew was great! The desserts are to die for!! Beautiful courtyard and cool bead art. I'll definitely be back! The pizza is delicious!

Delicious gelato, friendly service, great location. What more can ya ask for? Try the Nutella. Seems cliche, but hey, its good so who cares?

We loved this placed! We brought our family and there weren't too many family friendly places near our hotel. They had a beautiful outdoor dining area that was quiet and breezy. The food was fantastic- we got a panini, a cheese pizza and gelato. By far, our favorite dining experience during our stay.

I LOVE IT!!!!! They have the best gelato I have ever had!!!!! Get the biscotti gelato! Be careful though because it's very hot/humid so it melts quickly. The strawberry cheesecake was good too. I tried SOOO many flavors. I liked it a lot. I will come here for Gelato again when I come back to New Orleans FOR SURE! :) I wouldn't recommend the pizza though because I didn't quite like it. The crust was too hard. I feel like she over heated my pizza. The staff seemed new, which is totally fine. HOWEVER, the lady helping me was kind of rude. She was borderline rude and nice. She wasn't understanding me at all! English is my first language woman! Just listen to the words coming out of my mouth. She had NO CLUE how to pour a beer from the tap. I wanted to buy it, but I decided it wasn't worth it if she was pouring it. However, the Strawberry Lagar, I definitely recommend it. She let me try some which was so kind of her. However she was giving me a lot of weird looks when I was talking to her. I don't know what her deal was. She was kind of on the older side. The girl working the gelato area was very new and didn't know much about the menu or anything, and I overheard them saying she would be by herself the next day. She didn't even seem like she knew how to work the register. :(

Came to Little Vic's on a food tour. We got not only some very good muffaletta on home baked bread, but we got to learn that Vic is a real person and it's a family owned business. Very cool! Nice little courtyard to step away from the busy FQ streets and relax a bit. Recommend!

Lovely gelato shop a half block off Bourbon Street with a quaint quiet courtyard in the back to enjoy the yummy ice cream on a warm summer night. Highly recommended!!

Great little place just off the beaten path. They have a small menu, gelato, and great coffee. There's a small indoor sitting area and a nice little patio area in the back. I recommend the turkey pesto tacchino panini.

Bad customer service. Older woman serving us acted as though we were troubling her by being there. Lots of eye rolling and sarcasm. This treatment was uncalled for since we were polite to her.

    (1)
  • Elisha M.

The gelato was tasty however the service was lacking. The woman who helped my friend and I was impatient and rude. We each tried two flavored and felt like she was irritated by that. We will go somewhere with better service despite the good gelato.

  • Jesus B.

The ice cream is actually good but the service is awful. We ask yo tried different flavors and the waitress wasn't even looking at us, just speaking with other waitress. She finally let us try few flavors but seeming we were annoying her. Then she served two small ice creams of different sizes... Bad bad bad service

Absolutely delicious selection of gelato! The server was super friendly and we got into talking about the Italian community of New Orleans. Recommended ice cream stop right near all the restaurants in the Quarter.

  • Ravi B.

Super cute little/big place! It seems little from the outside, but when you walk inside you'll realize just how big it is. They even have an outside patio quarter area that's beautiful. That's where a lot of the beauty of this place lies. It's a secret gem! Their gelato is amazing. Get the small size though because anything else may be too much for the average person! I tried the dreamsicle and mint chocolate chip. Awesome! If all the other flavors are as rich and subtle-y sweet as these then you wont' be disappointed no matter what flavor you try. If you're getting coffee, they don't have skim milk, but they do have soy and whole milk. The coffee here is awesome too! If you want to take a little break from the crazyness of bourbon street and don't want to venture too far, stop by this quaint gelato & coffee shop!

  • Julia A.

I can only give this place one star because I didn't even get to try the gelato! Absolutely awful customer service by the older woman scooping and we were treated so rudely. Long story short, we patiently waited behind a huge line of volleyball girls (there's a championship here this weekend or something) and the woman working there was clearly very flustered by the amount of people. By the time we finally got to the front to be served after the volleyball girls, the lady was extremely rude as she noticed that it was about 45 minutes past closing time. She demanded that the customers behind us shut then door and to "not let anyone else in." She was not apologetic to us about the wait (also considering the team literally wiped out half of her flavors) but instead she kept complaining about the time. It was a huge turn off and I even asked her after all of that if she still wanted to serve us--instead of apologizing and asking for my order she again gave an excuse about the time and how she didn't think it was that late. She was clearly overwhelmed because she should have been keeping track of the time and maybe paused for a moment to close the door right at 10pm, instead of allowing a huge line to build up and then to be sour grapes about serving them. Anyways, we left without being served any gelato because I honestly felt like I didn't want to be a burden for this woman and I hope she got home early! Maybe at the end of the night I'm being a little dramatic about this review, but I recently just moved to New Orleans and I cannot say enough amazing things about this city and community. Everywhere I go, whether it's someone at a restaurant/store or stranger on the street, people are just friendly in a way you can't find in any other city. This woman's demeanor was a stark contrast to what I've experienced so far in New Orleans. To give her the benefit of the doubt, I have seen about a million high school volleyball girls in their spandex shorts running around New Orleans so I totally get if she served way more customers than normal today. The place should really hire more staff for busy nights then. But at the end of the day, gelato is a happy thing and who wants to eat gelato when you get it from someone who doesn't even really want to give it to you in the first place. Luckily I was able to get my sweet tooth fix at Cafe du Monde where everyone, customers and servers, seemed pretty happy to be there. I'll be back to try the gelato one day so I can write a proper review on the actual food, but most likely when someone else is behind the counter

Good gelato, a little on the pricey side. Good selection for different tastes. Their version of the muffaletta was good, liked the bread better than city grocery. It's baked fresh every day and a simple baguette. Small place and nice people.

Great food and good price! The prosciutto di Parma E Rucola and the Italiano are delicious and HUGE! Definitely coming back next time I'm in town.

I was a little confused when I arrived here because I wanted gelato and there are two entrances. I stood behind a few people until I got a crusty from someone in the line going toward the other entrance and then moved. The courtyard is awesome if you can get a seat outside and the guy that served me gave me twice the gelato I thought I paid for so that was a steal!

Second consecutive time go in at 9:30am and no breakfast pastries just some cookies and desserts this time no one behind counter, why open that early.

A little cafe that you could miss even if you were standing right in front of it (we did), Little Vic's offers some excellent gelato in the middle of the French Quarter. I would've liked more chocolate choices in their ten (or was it twelve?) flavors they offered, but the variety allows something for everyone. From sweet-tart fruit flavors of a cranberry/raspberry or a light and refreshing lime all the way to the chocolate peanut butter than I went with (thankfully not too sugary), you'll find something good. And we were offered two (or three) sample tastes before we made our choices. A "large" was over $7, a "medium" was around $6, and the "small" was just under $5. That felt a little much even for gelato, but they piled the little cup enough that I had all I needed with the small size. Our server was very polite and friendly and Vic's offered a nice break from the raucous streets of New Orleans.

  • Ashley W.

This place was so cute and the gelato was just what I needed on a warm day. I had the hazelnut and zabaglione (sp?) gelato. It was so creamy and flavorful. The young lady that took my order was very pleasant, which is a huge plus in my book. Check out the recycled bead artwork on the walls done by a local artist. Very cool spot.

  • Beth G.

Vic's is a funky little place right off Bourbon Street. It's definitely a cafe rather than a full-scale restaurant, and they likely do most of their business on the gelato side of the space. But we were looking for a dinner that *wasn't* an event--unlike practically every other meal we'd had in NOLA. Vic's fit the bill nicely, and in fact our meal was really good. Sweetie really liked his spaghetti and meatballs, and my chicken panini was memorably excellent. They also have deep dish pizza and salads, etc.--and good gelato. In fact, my main criticism of Vic's would be a lack of confidence--they have the makings of a great restaurant. They should take advantage of it, and everyone should give them a try.

  • Lachlan B.

Service slow. Food expensive. Not the girl's fault but she was left manning the ice cream shop and restaurant on her own with no help from other staff who walked through 'with better things to do'. Wouldn't come back.

Good food and good price. There is a very nice 'patio' in the back. The waiter is very nice and helpful.

Albeit a bit small this little gelato shop has good offerings for patrons (usually raucous rabble rousers). The vanilla and biscotti italiano were good. It killed my ice cream fix that i needed.

  • Brittany N.

It was on par with the gelato I had in Italy. We didn't stay and eat it there, but rather just took it to go. We stopped by to get a little treat to help us cool down in the Louisiana heat! I only give this place 4 stars because it took a little while to be acknowledged (there was only one person working there). Here is a quick video we made there: youtu.be/r1MlY25ZKVM?t=2…

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Stopped in late night to get an Irish coffee. Fine no problem. The gentleman that prepared the coffee did a fine job. The problem here lies with the young unprofessional gentleman that identified himself as "manager/owner". I was talking to one of the people in my party and commented that the deserts in the case didn't look good. Apparently he heard my comment and started yelling at me. I was attempting to pay for my coffee at the time, he is screaming at me telling me just take the coffee and get out. He even went as far as calling me out of my name telling me I was being a B**CH! Now what reputable business owner would ever treat a customer that way. This was my FIRST and LAST time here!

I will tell you, this place has great Gelato. I just admire little quaint places that do a few things, but do them exceptionally well. I, personally, always try about 6 different flavors before I buy. I found the Fruiti de (something) to be the beat flavor. There was no wait and places to sit, which is always a plus. The young lady could have been a bit more pleasant, so I did deduct a star.

Coll place! Nice decor and yard! Stopped here on a food tour. Would never have even thunk to go in this place if it wasn't for that tour. Glad I was introduced to this place because the samples I had were delicious. The owner was also very nice and accomodating. I Will be back to try the many choices that definitely looked good through the glass and sounded good when I saw it on the menu.

Easily the best gelato I have had in New Orleans with huge portions and a large selection of flavors. If your in the quarters on a sweltering hot day this is a must stop. The blood orange I found to be the best flavor. Right now they have a great deal on Groupon. Get it today and you won't be sorry.

  • Kris A.

Great gelato and generous portion. We ordered a single serving and it was piled high! Some inside info is that the owner has been renovating the spot for 2 years and lives upstairs. Pictures of his Italian family adorn the walls. The bathrooms are newly renovated as well and clean which is a rarity in the French Quarter! The courtyard is amazing! Complete with a running fountain, exposed brick, strung lights and a rich history feel. (see pics) It is truly a hidden gem. As a local, I would love to patronize this local business. You can tell that it is still a work in progress because additional menu items are being added weekly. Check out the custom bead work art on the wall too. You cant miss it.

Wandering New Orleans late at night with friends and extremely hungry we stumbled into Little Vic's and boy am I glad we did. The customer service was phenomenal and the food was delicious (for both those extremely inebriated and our sober DD's). The pasta was delicious and the establishment (and bathrooms) were clean and in good repair. I definitely would recommend Little Vic's for your New Orleans Italian needs.

Good food, good portions. The fried grilled cheese sandwich as an appetizer is a little filling... But everything we had was good.

  • David K.

Went out looking for a gelato place and little Vic's was the only place open. My opinion is solely based on the gelato I had for $4.11 and not on their food or service. Mint chip tasted somewhat artificial, was refreshing and the chocolate was nicely flaked rather than chips which doesn't bother me a whole lot. Word of warning. The cup gets really really runny from the melting icecream. You definitely want to get a packet of serviettes.

  • Jenny H.

Was craving pizza and went here on a whim. Little Vic's specialty pizza was great and the cheese pizza was drowning in cheese! And if your a fan of square pizzas - this is an added bonus. Service was great, too.

A generous 3 stars. We came here one night for some gelato. The lady helping out said maybe two words to us - the total price. Shoot, can I get a 'what would you like' at least? Overpriced gelato, too! I got a strawberry (not good) but my husband got a vanilla which was delicious.

My order - Dark chocolate and mocha gelato Taste - Excellent. Proportion - I ordered large Ambiance - Try the outdoor seating, it's the best. Staff - Friendly Value for money - Pretty good, costed me around $6 Wait - Quick Visit - Gelato slurrrrrp !

Super friendly service, open pretty much all day even on Xmas, and decent food. Well, we only had dessert, but it was good... We had gelato, coffee, and hot chocolate, all of which were very good. We had dropped in the day before to check their hours, and both times we were greeted and chatted up by helpful servers. It's a little shop, sort of an ice cream counter out front, a bar, and half a dozen tables. We would definitely go back.

  • Stephnie L.

We went here for a late dinner. Just wanted a simple pizza. The pizza and side salads were excellent. They were also out of Diet Coke. The poor server had to handle the restaurant and the ice cream counter all by herself while the "host" sat on a stool outside. He couldn't even be bothered to get drinks! Based on the food and how well the lone server handles the situation I would have gave a 5 but because of the host - they get a 3.

  • Justin L.

We stopped here an while had a cannoli while roaming the streets of the French Quarter. Mainly we stopped in here so I could use the restroom in the courtyard. While it was not comparable to Mike's Pastry in the North End of Boston, it was good, and a welcomed resting spot while walking around in the hot weather.

    (2)
  • Carlos C.

Very friendly staff and awesome gelato! There is a good variety of flavors to choose from too. The cool guy that was assisting me let me sample all the flavors so I could decide on which one I like the most. The strawberry cheese cake was my favorite and is a must try if you visit. The court yard out back is beautiful as well so if you have the time you should check it out and enjoy the scenery a bit.

One word: Biscotti. TRY IT! It will make you happy on a hot day in NOLA. I wish they would be a little more generous with the scooping though.

very nicely done renovation to a classic old building - lovely courtyard would be great for a reception. Gelato is deelish; competitively priced. friendly staff.

Yum yum Gelato! Found this place on my way back to our hotel after dinner. Perfect dessert. I saw they had outdoor courtyard seating which looked nice but we sat inside which was also cozy. The cups looked small but they do pile on the gelato. Nice little cafe.

We stopped by Little Vic's for coffee as part of a tour of the French Quarter. The dinner menu caught our eye, so we returned later that evening for something to eat. The restaurant itself is very clean and contemporary. The courtyard, like so many others in the Quarter, is beautiful...a nice spot to take photos. Our waitress was very nice, and we chatted briefly with the owner who was also friendly and knowledgeable about all things French Quarter. But, our experience with the food wasn't the same. Maybe it was the time we came in, later than usual for dinner, but we discovered the Baked Ziti and the Ham & Cheese Panini cold and tasteless. We never got our salads as they were out of lettuce. In all fairness, I think our experience had more to do with timing than anything else. That said, if the doors are open for dinner an establishment should be ready to serve.

BEST CAFÉ COURTYARD in the Vieux Carré; gas lamps and strung lights at night; ITALIAN STREET FOOD: arancini fried risotto balls, gelato, paninis, sfoglia puff pastry; AFFORDABLE! Pretty much every item on the menu is less than $10; except pizzas! Growing up in a proud Francophile family, I always viewed the French as the epitome of class and culture in all aspects of the arts, food and attire. This was true until the late 80's when I first happened upon my mother's new Alessi lemon juicer. At that point I became fascinated with Italian design. To me it is almost the opposite of French style: it's masculinely sleek and not fussy, it's classic not avant garde, robust not prim. Little Vic's beautiful café is a fine example of such chic non-pretentiousness. In fact, the atmosphere is so modernly Tuscan, I can easily envision a flock of "Sophias" (my name for the ubiquitous, uniformly shoulder-bobbed, middle aged Italian women in their oversized Gucci sunglasses and long fur coats) ordering gelati at the counter. The food is tasty, inexpensive and generously portioned (except for the pizzas which seem shockingly over priced). Stick to the street foods and enjoy this intriguing space.

If you're starving for a quick slice of pizza, don't go with what you see first on bourban st, take a turn on a side street and stop by here and grab a scoop of gelato on your way out

An Oasis in the French Quarter, just off the hustle of Bourbon St. We found this place during Mardi Gras and now one of us in the band are in there three days a week. Very relaxing atmosphere with great Italian street food that does not cost a lot! We love to sit in the courtyard by the fountain. It's a very overlooked place. It is worth the visit. Guaranteed

We went here as part of a food tour and were served muffulettas. They were fantastic: fresh, hot, and bursting with a variety of flavors. The service was also great. This is a modest, no frills restaurant, but the dining experience was top notch.

I can appreciate a little pizza/gelato spot in the middle of the French Quarter chaos. Especially when the interior is fresh, full of Victoria Ghost Chairs, modern artwork and wall to wall hardwood floors. What's aweseome about this particular location is the back door terrace with an outdoor fountain. It's so peaceful! A complete 180 from Bourbon Street. Came here a little after lunch time and they were already low on a couple of flavors. Ordered the HAZELNUT and PISTACHIO flavor. Total thumbs up. What I like about them is that they don't add artificial coloring. $4 for a regular and $6 for a large? Only two sizes? I found that odd, and a bit on the pricier side too.

This is by far one of the BEST Italian Eateries in New Orleans, I ordered the vegetable Pizza with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, artichoke, feta cheese and more ingredients of greatness. Everyone needs to try the house dressing. I will stop by everytime I visit New Orleans......

  • Christian R.

Came here for ice cream and got a generous serving of ice cream. I was so full, I felt sick, yet I was very happy. Good hazelnut-chocolate ice cream--they called it Nutella ice cream, but it wasn't really Nutella, it was hazelnut-chocolate. I know Nutella like my saliva because I once worked at one of the Ferrero Rocher plants that produced Nutella as a QC/QA pup, so I was tasting it daily.

Cute little spot with a little ghost history... Enjoyed a Caesar salad, pizza and a Baked Ziti with the family ..... Liz our waitress was really friendly.... Ordered pizza. The bartender took three slices of cold pizza from under the bar back to the kitchen. Ten minutes later he came out with three Luke warm pieces of pizza. Worse part is the bill was around 17.00 dollars for three slices of pizza. Would never go back.

Nothing is better on a hot and humid NOLA day than a cup of freshly made Gelato and that's where Little Vic's hits it out of the park. Their home made Gelato is some of the best I have ever ate and for what you pay you get a ton of it. The also have plenty of other tasty desserts there but all me and my wife had was the Gelato so that is what this review is based off of. They have a great little patio attached but be warned if you eat out there ya better be ready to chow down due to the heat.

After a week of amazing seafood in The Big Easy we decided on a change of pace. Reviews and word of mouth led us to Little Vic's on Toulouse Street. We ordered a variety and everything was superb. The Baked Ziti, Little Vic's pulled pork pizza, Pitoni pulled pork fried pie, Tacchino Panino Sandwich, Sicilian Hot Dog and Gelato for dessert were excellent. My oldest daughter is pretty much spoiled with great food and declared this to be her favorite meal of the trip. I'm not very inclined to disagree with her. Outstanding!

Awesome food, with good portions. We were a group of 5. We ordered the veggie pizza, Arancini and Baked Ziti. Everything was just perfect with my favorite being the ziti. Also the ambience is lovely. I give it 4 stars because, I feel they can improve on their service. Worth a visit if you are in New Orleans and wanna eat Italian.

We ordered 2 slices of pizza and side salads Pizza had lousy crust and was luke warm. Salad was mediocre. Service was great, though. Very friendly. Maybe try something else... Or somewhere else. Go to Vieux Carre Pizza for pizza. Gelato looked good.

You have Lavazza espresso for my latte? YUM. That is enough for me to give a 4 star review. Lavazza make a fantastic coffee. I would even say it is worth a visit just to drink the lattes. The gelato was good as well. I had the rum raisin gelato, which went really nicely with my latte. The lady behind the counter was really nice as well. I'm sure I'll be back soon.

I really loved this place! Quiet heaven only steps away from busy and bustling Bourbon street. The gelato was great and the service impeccable. The courtyard was just charming, and a great place to relax even late at night.

First time trying them. Great customer service. They allowed me to sample gelato and gave suggestions. Also, portions were more than generous. I had the waffle cone.

After leaving Preservation Hall, we walked here at 10pm and got the melon gelato (about $4 for a small cup). It was really good. Bonus points for their late closing times; there's not many places to get gelato into 2am.

The place was clean and the service was excellent. Trust when you come New Orleans you start to see why the places are dark. This place was bright and airy. We sat on the back patio. We did not eat any of the food as we came here for the gelato. We were not disappointed at all. The gelato was excellent and they give you a nice scoop worth. The wife had the Chocolate Chip and being a coconut lover, well I had the coconut! They were both really good and hit the spot!!! We even tried the chocolate cannoli. They are super good. We will be going back to try some pizza and will defiantly try some more of the gelato!!!

For the Sicilian style pizza I would give 5 stars! Thick soft crust but not very dense with delicious sauce and fresh ingredients. However I was really disappointed in the calazones. There was very little filling for the amount of dough. Also the top was sprinkled with too much coarse sea salt. A little bit goes a long way! The staff was very friendly even in the midst of Mardi Gras! It's gelato in the courtyard next time!

Happen to come upon this place because the door was open to the gelato. Oh my was it delish! No matter what the size you get, they pile it on. It doesn't go by scoops, just by whatever flavors you want. Great atmosphere. Waitress was really attentive. Got a slice of pizza. Wasn't the best but was good overall. Will go back!

We needed a non-alcoholic break from the haunted bars app we were following, and this was the perfect stop. They were open late, had a cute courtyard, and the gelato was amazing! We tried the pistachio and tira misu, and both were excellent. Will go back and try the pizza soon.

Love gelato. Good variety of flavors! After leaving this place, I found out that this is a haunted landmark! Yikes!

Great little homemade Italian food. Pizzas were huge and good. Baked ziti and lasagna were also really good. They even made us a Parmesan bread appetizer that wasn't on the menu and served it with freshly homemade ragu sauce. Don't serve alcohol but they let you go across the street to buy it and bring it in.

Being from Philly, after three nights in New Orleans, it's safe to say my stomach had it's fill of deep fried/breaded seafood. By day 4, my boyfriend and I were craving pizza...finding said pizza proved to be a bit more difficult than I had expected. Sure, every 10 feet on Bourbon St., there's a "$1.00 slice" joint but, we were in the mood for sit down, fresh out of the oven pizza. Long story short, everywhere we looked it seemed Little Vic's kept popping up whispering "Here I am." So, we went and I couldn't have been happier about that decision. The service was great, the pizza was delicious as was the gelato. Should I ever find myself wandering down Bourbon St. again, I'll definitely find my way back to Little Vic's!

I'm Italian and from New Jersey, we have Italian food everywhere. This place can compete against anything in Jersey. If 10 stars means that your grandmother made it (cant get better) this place is a 9.5. The atmosphere in their courtyard is terrific and the staff is super friendly. You wouldn't believe you are half a block from Bourbon Street sitting next to the fountain. The waiter we had, Pete was great as well.

Bought the Groupon, but food was mediocre and so was the Gelato. It tasted off, like not real Gelato. Service was good and the dining area was clean. Would I return? I think I would rather just stay at home and eat Blue Bell.

Decent gelato. Not the best but it'll do on a hot day. Cute little patio in the back. Must have been a slow day because all the employees were sitting at the tables on their phones.

Caesar salad was large and tasted good. They didn't have any hot dogs left or the ingredients to make their famous breaded grilled cheese which was very strange. I also had some gelato--very generous serving and tastes great. The servers were not very attentive or especially friendly.

We came here on Christmas Day, not expecting much, and we were pleasantly surprised to the fact that it was delicious! Great service, awesome creamy pasta, and delicious cesare salad add up to a great, reasonably priced meal! 5 stars!

Giving one star for having a nice looking shop without being over-the-top twee or whatever. The vending cart with t-shirts is a nice touch and goes a long way towards the overall concept. The tables on the sidewalk are also lovely with surprisingly comfortable chairs! Giving one star for having decent gelato. I had strawberry and coconut smushed together...so good. Giving one star just because you're close to my apartment. It's nice that I can eat gelato four blocks from my apartment instead of traveling hither and yon. Withholding one star because you have Jersey Shore viewing parties. Really?!?! Withholding one star because the staff is a little bit skeezy and doesn't have a very clear concept of sanitization. The lady scooping stuck her hand into the strawberry, then pulled it out, licked it, and picked up the scoop. Erm...at least they were nice? Accessibility notes: Narrow doorway, but accessible for all mobility devices. Low counter. No braille menu or signage.

Awesome little place! We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed our Sicilian style pizza and gelato. It wasn't very busy, but don't let that put you off. The wait staff was very friendly and always made sure our drinks were full and we were happy with our meal. And who could forget that courtyard? On a nice day you should definitely eat outside.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM What do you get when you cross a nightclub with a friendly neighborhood gelateria? You get VIC'S! The drum and bass was thumping as my baby boomer dad, the boyfriend, and I waltzed in for sweet treats. Not awkward at all. The walls were adorned with black and white photos of the family in their old country and maps of Italy alongside a fashionable poster of a sexy shirtless gentleman. I'm not opposed to either aesthetics, but in conjunction they plagued my mind. Kudos for the gelato presentation. All the flavors are represented with the actual fruit or candy stuck into the gelato itself. For example, a slice of watermelon was fixed in the vat of watermelon flavored gelato. This cuts down on sample time but only works because the flavors are not exotic. We did get a cheery goodbye when we left- another plus.

We came here 4 out of 6 days we were in town- & it would have been 6 if we had found it sooner:) love the food, the staff, the decor, the cleanliness-THE BATHROOMS I would walk all the way here no matter where we were in the quarter just to use the potty! I will do a review when I get to a computer- I am sad this place doesn't have 5 out of 5 stars yet! OH & PS this place is not "pricey" as someone has said here....for all that's included & the superb service you receive it's worth it all!

Holy moly this is an amazing place is the FQ. Incredibly reasonably priced. $9 for sandwich and a side together. And it is d-lish-ous. Paninis are great. Salads are substantial and service is as kind as can be. Pretty quick too. Great atmosphere and feel.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. My last visit to NOLA was there 12 days - I was at Little Vic's almost every day. The pizza & rice balls are so good, the gelato is outstanding & the staff is wonderful. I am looking forward to my return visit in November to have some of the yummy things they have been posting on face book.

We went there with a Groupon deal (14 for $7) on a Sat. during the French Quarter Fest and the moment we stepped into this place, we fell in love with their hospitality and kindness and generosity of their staff. The lady who took our ice cream orders were amazingly nice and sociable and generous and the amount of ice cream she would scoop out was very generous :) Anyway, generous portion, tasty ice cream, sociable people, what else do you wanna get when ordering an ice cream?!!!! We will def. be back even without a Groupon! :) You guys are adorable! (p.s. if the owner ever reads this, plz dont tell your staff to reduce the portion size. it's def a plus for this business. You can get ice cream from anywhere else. Whats special about your place is the hospitality and kindness of your staff that make these reviews all 5 star!)

Wow, what a disappointment. 25$ for a mediocre to bad 12" soggy pizza? Seriously? 17$ for dry, tasteless Ziti? 10$ for a gross panini? Staff who couldn't have cared less if we were there? Avoid

  • Jimmy N.

I consider my yelping days over because now I'm too busy and eat out too much to review my excursions, but this place warrants more business than it has. As a gelato lover, this place certainly brings it. The pistachio flavor actually has grind up nuts in it, really bringing out the flavor. The coconut is also amazing. It's $4 for a "small" cup, which is pretty standard for any gelato place, but they REALLY pack it on... I almost couldn't finish one small by myself due to the richness and sure amount, and I'm a big eater. Impeccable service, super clean, and has free wifi... Seems almost out of place in the drunken post-adolescent mania that is the French district.

Was in the mood for something other than Cajun food, so Sicilian food looked appealing plus our kid loves pizza. We ordered a 12 inch pepperoni pizza, and it only took about ten minutes to get it since it was early in the evening. The staff were pleasant and expedient and made the experience great. Oh and the pizza was cheesy and thin crust, yummy!

Good stuff! The gelato is so flavorful! Got a large waffle with strawberry and orange and it was amazing. The orange tastes like a push up on steroids. Wife got a tart berry and it was flavorful and smooth. Prices are good considering location just of of Bourbon.

I am sorry to have to say, I was sorely disappointed with the food. On my first (and probably last experience with Little Vic's) I ordered 2 large pizzas. The crust was not to my taste seemed more to me like a quick bread than a yeast dough. Although the toppings were generous, the cheese was SALTY! and the Italian sausage which was ground so small that after some application of heat, I found unpleasantly dry. I wonder if the management and owners have tasted the product? To me, the WORST part of the experience was the cost. $24 for one, and $25 for the other was NUTS! even for the French Quarter. I am sorry to say, but Little Vic's has NOT gained a new and loyal customer in me. I must say on a positive note, the staff is really friendly and great to deal with!

Stopped in for a rice ball as we had won a coupon in a Karaoke contest; no kidding! Ended up staying for Italian sodas - deeeelish- and gelatos which were tasty!! Staff was super nice and chill - thanks Shane and ladies The gelato lady even popped out with her current concoction to give us a taste - rootbeer float gelato! Really nice vibe

If I can give them 0 stars, I would. We were there on May 28 at around 5pm. I was with 9 other people and I had a groupon deal. The young lady that was working there at that time was so rude to us! So, for example, the lady was helping another customer and my mom was just standing by the counter and she said 'hi'. The young lady responded--"no, I am helping them!" (I vividly remember this because she was really rude to my mother). WHAT!? My mom just said "hi". She did not even ask a question. And the young lady's response could have been said a bit nicer. After I paid, I said "thank you" just to solicit any kind of a nice response from her. She did not say anything! It was also very apparent that she was irritated and/or pissed off (not sure why exactly!). I was not the only one that noticed this young lady's bitter attitude. Some of the people with me noticed it too. Basically, this place needs some customer service training because I could not even tell you if the gelato was good because the service that we received (mind you, there were 10 of us) made the whole experience sour.

Food is awesome! Especially the pulled pork sandwich and pitoni. Great gelato, and the best iced coffee in the city! Really friendly and welcoming staff as well. Definitely would recommend this place to everyone!

Damn good gelato. I have been here more times than I care to share and have had almost every flavor they make, which rotates on a daily basis. The fruit flavors are my favorite with probably the sexiest lemon gelato I have ever had. So why the missing two stars? Not a fan of some of their food offerings. The sandwiches are nice as are the pasta selections, but having spent quite a bit of time in central and southern Italy I really expected more form the sicilian style pizza (rectangular and bready not crusty, not much sauce) and the arancini (fried risotto balls). I was really excited when I saw those two things in the display case because its really not something you see much of at your typical italian joint. But the pizza was just ok and not really warmed up and the arancini balls were completely cold in the center, almost dry tasting and not crunchy on the outside at all. boo. But I will keep going back cause it really is a cute little place on my walk home, great service and some of the menu items are quite delicious (whats up pulled pork ragu?!). Also, they offer a service industry discount for all of my peeps down here so major points for that.

Great place to get coffee and outstanding pastry in the morning. Unfortunately, the last day we we were in town, we arrived at 7:45 and the place was closed. Very disappointing .

Purchased a Groupon for Little Vic's before we made the trip to New Orleans for a graduation. That is how we found this little Gem. We almost gave it to our son to use but I'm glad we went with him. What a great place. The Veggie pizza was really good, as were the panini's and we enjoyed a wonderful Gelato, creamy and delicious. The restaurant is just beautiful and the courtyard is such a great place to relax. I would love to LIVE in a space like that, it was very clean and cared for as well. The staff was great. Wish I lived in New Orleans so I could go there for Gelato every week!

First trip to New Orleans for my husband and I and after walking all around the quarter, it was so wonderful to find Little Vic's. The place is beautifully decorated with the beautiful chandelier and pictures. It is so clean and the patio was so relaxing while eating arancini and ending with a cappuccino and cannoli. Now for the gelato...it was delicious and just a fun place to unwind. The customer service was outstanding so thank you Vic, Shane, Britney, Andrew and Billie for the hospitality. Will be back again.

Vic and Eddie have really hit this one right. I've spent lots of time in Italia and from the panini to the whole of everything on the menu, it is "al fresco" Italian. I'm working my way through the entire menu. Bravi amici...

It about time we get a Gelateria with GREAT Italian coffee in the Lower Garden District! Little Vic's Gelateria has wonderful Gelato, great flavors and always very fresh. The attention to detail here is superb, they take care of everything and have a wonderful friendly attitude towards their customers. Tried the Panino al Tacchino today, I about fell out of my chair in delight. They have a wonderful coffee bar to sit at and enjoy a coffee and piccolo of gelato. This will now be a weekly stop for me, no reason to walk all the way past Washington now for a great break from the heat!

Great find! I really can't find any fault with this place! Had the Siciliano Panini, which comes with Italian deli meats, provolone, greens & balsamic reduction. Looked and tasted very good! Came with a side of an eggplant parmesan soup...nice! Good, strong brewed iced tea. Had the dark chocolate & butterfingers gelato....closest I've had to gelato from Florence. Also tasted the berry & nutella versions...very good also. The gelato is presented nicely in the case...always kept neat & easy to figure out what the flavors are. The place is in a vibrant neighborhood for window-shopping, and has seating on the covered sidewalk, inside at tables or at counter stools. Place looked clean, staff was friendly & they have a nice restroom on the back patio. Nice vibe...a little gem!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
