Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Ate here while on vacation with my husband. Ordered a chicken chimichanga. The rice was not seasoned, and I must say, this is the first time, and I eat at Mexican restaurants often, that I have had nacho cheese on a chimichanga. No beans. A rather large portion of lettuce, why I don't know. Won't be eating here again

Standard fare, bland tex mex, with that being said it is probably the best option in town for two reasons. Bistec Ranchero:Steak beef sautéed down in tomatoes onions and various spices, make it spicy. Secondly they do a quesadilla like Americans do grilled cheese sandwich and it's a formula that works, a combination of crunchy, meaty and cheesy that's fun and hands on.

Recently visited this restaurant during a trip to Alexandria for the Police Academy Graduation. Did NOT enjoy myself due to two people in my party having bugs in their food. One member of my party was a vegetarian and ordered a vegetarian dish....and it came with little bits of meat on it. Really? Even though I don't live in the area, I have family there and will return to this town....but NEVER to this particular business.

Decent food. Good service. Just bland Tex Mex with an interesting atmosphere.

I was nervous to try a Mexican place called Nicky's but it was ok. The staff was friendly and kind of fast. The inside needs an updating, it looks really old and the lighting is SO dark, the pics I took barely came out... We ordered the White Cheese Dip and Salsa. The large order was $7.50! It was pretty good though, but not the usual White Cheese Dip from authentic Mexican restaurants. I ordered the Sour Cream Enchiladas with Beans and Rice. The Enchiladas were ok. Nothing special. But the beans were awful! The Husband ordered Happy Plate. Steak or Chicken over Rice topped with White Cheese Dip. He chose Steak and said it was just ok. My son ordered two Taco's and Rice. He said they were great. They didn't look like traditional Mexican Taco's, more like the kind you make at home. I posted pics of our meal, check them out! Keep in mind it was SO dark it was hard to get a good photo. Just ok, probably won't be back.

Nicky's has very good food and we eat here often plus do takeout often. The house salad dressing is very good on the chef salad and taco salad. They put a ton of meat on both of these salads. I know what you're thinking, salad? Yes! It's delicious. The tamales and enchiladas are good as well as the carnitas. I'm not a fan of the house margaritas. It taste like they use a mix. I love their guacamole! Tip: If you order food to go, be sure to check to make sure you have everything. We almost always are missing something...tortillas, salad dressing, you name it.

Loved it. They are very friendly and patient. We wanted veg options and our waiter explained every thing that they can make veg. She told us veg enchilladas, veg falitha and veg quesadillas. Also explained the ingridients used for beans and rice. And when these arrived to table they tasted awesome. This place very colorful and fun. A must try.

With plenty of options for Mexican food in Natty, just keep driving past Nicky's. The food is overly greasy and the menu lacks vegetarian/ vegan options. When we asked them to make fajitas without meat it was quite a large ordeal. We did eventually get vegetable fajitas (peppers, onions, and some mushrooms with a lot of pleading) but they just weren't good. I couldn't taste the vegetables over the oil. We felt absolutely gross afterwards. What made it worse is the charges us almost double what a competing restaurant charges us for a similar meal of better quality. Bottom line, do not go to Nicky's.
