The view is amazing! Our server was friendly, bubbly and just all around nice. We waited a bit to order but she had s large party. Our food took a bit but it was hot and fresh and very yummy.

I thought this place was very good, and other than being a tad expensive for what you get, it would have received 5 stars. I had the Shrimp and Crab Oscar, which was asparagus, stuffed shrimp, lump crab meat and hollandaise sauce on top of an English muffin. I would definitely eat it again, as it was well flavored. The one option I would have gone with if I had it over again though was the soup... it looked delicious compared to the salad bar, and the night we were there, it was crawfish and corn bisque.

Growing up this was 'the place' to eat in Natchitoches. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with our recent experience. The food was mediocre at best. I had a glass of Merlot that was not very good at all - although my partner had a white wine that he said was ok. I had the crawfish combo, which was okay but certainly nothing that I would make special trip to get again. We had the calamari and it was in a sea of sweet chili sauce (straight from SYSCO). My partner had fried catfish that tasted a bit bland. The entrees do come with a full salad bar, bu the items on the bar are somewhat limited for the prices paid. $80 later I was having regrets for having chosen Mariner's. I hope that they can reclaim the 'glory days' of when this was 'the place, but that won't happen until the quality of the food improves. On the bright side, the service was friendly and prompt.

Great location! Must visit. However, be forewarned about the prices and so so food. I ordered 16 oz NY strip with salad bar, steamed vegetable medley, and lobster tail. Food is food if your hungry. I am not sure this is the best place in town to eat but definitely worth the view. Too bad it's so pricey for carry out hole in the wall restaurant food equivalent. The most distasteful thing by far was the dirty table they sat me at. They are not busy it's a Monday and there are only 4 tables inside that are full including me at one of them. I will say that it has taken a total of 30 minutes for my food. That was order to empty plate. Food service is excellent and very fast. However, I did wait after I finished my meal without drink or food for about 10 minutes before I was approached again. Keep in mind, 4 tables. Dozens of staff. For dessert, I have chosen crème brûlée. Simply magnificent and perfect.

Visiting from Houston. Very disappointed in the freshness of the food and prices. Ordered the special....pan fried snapper ($27). Small fillet soaking in a sauce. Fish tasted and looked like it had been frozen for awhile. Did I mention over salted? Wife got the stuffed flounder.....better but still overly seasoned and reliant on over powering stuffing. The hamburger on the kids menu was huge and tasty. Ended up eating half of my daughter's. Conclusion: nice location on the water, mediocre food at best, prices extreme for the quality.....better off going to a chain.

Great view. Mediocre service. Decent food. Salad bar wasn't as big as recent pics but the garlic cheese bread at the end was best I've had.

Mariner's is a great little restaurant located on the shores of Lake Sibley in Natchitoches. I arrived with some work associates this evening just as the sun was setting. Our table by the window was perfectly situated to catch the incredible aurora and beauty of the sun reflecting on the lake as it set... really spectacular. I was also impressed with the cuisine. I ordered the crabmeat au gratin special and a small salad. The salad is served from a salad bar (I LOVE salad bars!) and the au gratin was deliciously creamy and well prepared. I enjoyed everything served. BOTTOM LINE: Awesome views, especially at dusk; excellent food.

Beautiful Restaurant located right on Sibley Lake. Inside, outside and bar dining available. Boat dock available for docking and dining. The inside is nice, a bit dated but nice. The staff was friendly-ish but super snobby! We didn't realize it was the "fancy" place in town and came in for an early dinner in t-shirts and jeans. We got "looks" from most of the employees, even our server payed more attention to well dressed older couple next to us. Even once telling us we'd have to wait so she could get something they needed. What?? We ordered Fried Alligator for an appetizer and it was fresh and delicious. However, be warned the Iced Tea is not fresh brewed but like Nestea or something similar. I ordered the 8 oz Fried Catfish Plate with a Twice Baked Potato and Salad Bar. The salad bar is fantastic! Plenty of fresh items to choose from, tiny plates though. The meal came very fast and looked great. The fish was ok, nothing special considering an 8 oz. portion is $17.99. The tarter sauce was hot and possibly spoiled. The Hushpuppies were very good. The Twice Baked Potato was just awful. I only took a few bites and pushed it aside. Not only was I disappointed in the meal but even after paying $70.00 (not including tip) the server didn't even notice that we hadn't eaten our Potatoes or maybe she just didn't care if we enjoyed our meal or not. I posted pics of our meal and the inside and outside, check them out. It's a beautiful spot, too bad it's so pricey for just so-so food and snobby staff. We won't be back.

We were in town helping a friend's daughter move. She recommended this place and I am so glad she did. Food was great and you get very large portions for what you pay. The best chicken cordon blue I've ever had! My friends all raved both about how great the food was and how full we got. We all did sandwiches and po'boys, so we didn't really get the "sticker shock" that some have posted. One of my friends got the crawfish po'boy and it was so loaded with crawfish she couldn't finish it all. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family and we will be going back the next time I am in town.

The food is good and portion sizes are great. The location is great. The only downside is that it is pricey.

Mariners is located on Sibley Lake right outside downtown Natchitoches. Over the years, we've eaten here many times. It is consistently good and we've always had a good experience. I've eaten the Fried Shrimp and the Stuffed Shrimp is really good, also. My husband likes the Stuffed Cajun Catfish. The salad bar is stuffed full with different salads..cheeses....breads.....all sorts of yummy starters! We haven't tried the dessert.....but, last time we were there, we asked the guy next to us what he ordered.....he was splitting "The Banana Carmel Xango" thing with his wife......Gooooood Lord.....it looked amazing! ..... It was Gone in a matter of seconds! Next Time ! ! !

Coming from lafayette, la and going to this makes the food ok, it could use some seasoning. I guess since the general population is 70+, they dont need seasoning. You could grab a mint on the way out those are awesome!

Mariner's is the "fancy" restaurant in Natchitoches. They have steaks, chicken dishes, salads, etc. All food is served with a bit of a Cajun flare, which makes it stand out slightly from other similar restaurants you'd find elsewhere. The Sunday noon buffet was my Dad's favorite when he came to NSU to visit. It is a pretty nice spread and is worth mentioning if you are visiting Natchitoches. Also, the view of Sibley Lake is great! The Cove Bar & Grill at Mariner's is often a good time and a lot of locals go there. If you are looking for a dinner/drinks/dancing-type night, go to the Cove.

Being the "fanciest" place in Natchitoches, the cuisine is typical Southern comfort food... seasoned to oblivion, battered, fried, and/or smothered... To anyone else in America, the food here is standard Red Lobster-fare... Average in every category.

Me and my wife have probably eaten here 75 times or more almost the only place we eat for dinner when we come to Natchitoches I'll knock on wood, they have never disappointed. Last night I had the blackened catfish and she had the grilled shrimp both were fantastic as usual. Most of the servers look like they are probably college students and have always been nice and seem well trained. Our favorite Natchitoches place!!

I'm always upset when family dining means I've got to eat at Mariner's. To be honest, I've never had a positive experience here. The waiters are typically snobby to those who aren't dressed like they're about to play a round of golf. The food is generic southern fried food, yet you are expected to pay a premium for it. Their steaks can be good, but will never be above the type you get at a place like Logan's Roadhouse or a similar "peanut shell on the floor" place. Just save your money. Go elsewhere.
