Boom! Outta the park lunch was had here! On my first ever visit to Natchitoches, we of course went to this popular spot for the regional delicacy, meat pies. On just pure luck, I think we arrived at a good time because plenty of seats were available, but when we left it was standing room only. Are the meat pies justified in their popularity? Yeap, they sure are! The best thing I ate there, by the way, was not the regular meat pie but their crawfish meat pie. Wow! It was excellent! Tried the gumbo and I would easily order that again--beware ordering gumbo or red beans and rice merely because each item comes to you in a gallon-capacity soup bowl! Good lord! In addition to sharing a couple of the meat pies at the table, I ordered the catfish and shrimp combo (fried) and that catfish was goooooood! Light and flaky inside and not muddy or fishy tasting at all, with excellent crispy salty batter on the outside and served piping hot. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. You want some good Loosey-anna eatin' that's not in NOLA? Come hurr!

I should have stayed clear of this place. I was expecting alot more than what they delivered. The corn fritters were one genome away from hush puppies. The shrimp and grits was an unfortunate disaster. The shrimp was the store bought stuff and over cooked. The grits were nice and creamy but for $14.95 it needs to be way better. They need a menu overhaul before they truly become a tourist trap. All I know is that I will not be returning to this specific restaurant next time I'm town.

Everybody seems to think highly of this place, and it's a "go-to" in Natchitoches. They couldn't be more wrong. Their meat pies are nothing compared to other places in town, the rest of the food has never been good, the bathrooms (and I'm sure the kitchen) are disgusting. Save yourself the trouble, as this is one of those typical "legendary" restaurants that wouldn't exist if Natchitoches wasn't such a tourist trap. Please, go elsewhere.

I had a difficult time rating this place. It took me a few days to think up my review, and in the process, the phrase, "it is what it is" ran through my mind quite often. Let's get two facts out of the way first- 1) I love me some meat pies. I love them in Jamaica. I love them in the Grand Cayman. I love them in British pubs. I love them bought from a little old lady pushing a cart down the street in Venice Beach. And, 2) my 11-year-old son went to Lasyone's during a school field trip. Now, my son is quite the little foodie himself. He's the kid ordering the lamb chops with the raspberry demi-glaze and white wine reduction while your kid is eating a McDonald's cheeseburger, hold the pickles and onions. When asked how his lunch was, he shrugged and said it was good, but nothing special. Well, I knew that I HAD to try these famous meat pies and so regardless of his "review", we paid a visit last Saturday. We stood near the "Please wait to be seated" sign for a couple of minutes. I was pretty jazzed to check out the many framed pictures around the entrance. There were even excerpts from books that referenced the restaurant. So cool!!! Anyway- Servers were racing around. When we were noticed, a server told us to sit anywhere. But the way she said it sounded more like, "are you stupid or something??? Sit somewhere!" She didn't actually say that, but it felt like that. So we found our own table. The woman who told us to find a seat happened to be our server. She was great! So cheerful and pleasant. I had taken informality (a southern trait it seems) for rudeness. Sometimes I need to be reminded to pull the stick out ;) My husband was conflicted. Should he order gumbo or a meat pie? The server totally hooked him up with the perfect combination- a $5 meat pie and a small bowl of gumbo. She raved about how much he'd like it. I ordered the meat pie basket with fries. She suggested I try the red beans and rice so I did. My son ordered the same as me. Our food didn't take long. The crust of the pie was very nice. It wasn't pasty or dry. It was perfect. The meat in the pie was very juicy. The flavor was nice. It was simple. Here is where I get confused. Was the food TOO simple? There wasn't onion or mushrooms or cheese or vegetables in the meat pie. There wasn't a burst of surprise flavor. It was good, but simple. I tried the red beans and rice. No hint of coconut. No pepper and garlic explosion. Just very simple. I ate every last bite and enjoyed it, but was conflicted. My husband gave me a taste of his gumbo- it was bland. Very watery. He was underwhelmed with it as well. The cornbread that came with his gumbo was awful. It was very dry and completely flavorless. My husband did enjoy his meat pie. And my son? He said his meat pie was larger today (maybe they have smaller portions for kids?) and tasted better. I wasn't sure what to think of my meal. It WAS good. And later that evening I was cooking dinner and craving those beans and rice. Could the meat pie have been better? Yes, but it was what it was. It was good without the extra kick of something. It was very good, simple food. Every dish doesn't need to knock your socks off with new experience. Sometimes you just want a nice, wholesome meal. The only real negative I can think of for this place, is the bathroom. There is ONE bathroom, shared with everyone and it is in the back of the house, next to the cleaning supplies, paper goods and kitchen. I HATE this. I try so hard not to look too closely at anything lest I see a critter of some kind. The toilet paper roll was sitting on top of the trash can. A roll of paper towel was stuffed into a basket near the sink. A heated blower blew hot air at the sink and the water was scalding hot. I know I droned on and on but here's the point- Lasyone's isn't high class cuisine with exotic ingredients. But it IS good food (just pass on the gumbo, cornbread and bathroom).

This is a small little place, located off the main road where most of the restaurants sit. The place is very touristy because of it, but not to the point where you should try and avoid it. The line can get a little long for a table, but the wait is pretty quick. Their specialty, like the name suggests, are meat pies, but as a vegetarian I went with one of the few non meat items they offered. We started with some of their Corn Nuggets, which weren't what we were expecting. They're basically giant hush puppies. Aside from the oil they were dripping in, they weren't half bad. For the main dish, I ordered the Creole Pasta Salad ($5.95). This dish can come with meat, but I opted out of it. The noodles are coated in olive oil, with cajun spices, served with olives and tomatoes. I'd have like a little bit more spice to it, as it was a bit bland, but overall it was decent. The service here was pretty good. Our waitress was very friendly, and welcoming. After walking the river or site seeing the city, i'd definitely stop in for a bite.

Super Tasty! Natchitoches is a beautiful town. And it is made even better for Lasyone's. We each had a cup of the gumbo and one of the meat pies. The gumbo was absolutely delicious, maybe one of the best we've ever had. It was chock full of sausage and other goodies. This was accompanied by a meat pie, which is sort of like a large empanada. Two of us had the crawfish and one had the meat. All were rich and delicious. We liked the crawfish just a little better. The only disappointment was their house special Cane River Cream Pie. It was just sweet and had a vaguely chocolate flavor. Maybe we'll try pecan pie next time.

My wife and I took a quick weekend getaway to "Knacka-ditch" and tried several of the traditional restaurants in the area. If you are a complete health food nut, please skip the rest of this review. You do not go to Lasyone's for nutritious food... you go here for all the fried goodness of Natch's history and heritage, the meat pie... don't just order the meat pie though. Go wild and order the Crawfish pie also. Then get some red beans and rice, or some etouffee and ask a friend to help roll you out. I won't comment on the overall cleanliness of the restaurant other than to say this... I understand that you are a "greasy spoon" style restaurant. That does not mean that you can't give the place a solid cleaning at least once a month. Several easy to spot signs of places where things have not been deep cleaned in months if not years are apparent if you look. Food: 5 stars Servers: 4 stars (would be 5, but they are overworked) Cleanliness of the restaurant: 3 stars.

We went back here this past weekend for the first time in years, and I really enjoyed the meat pie platter. Nice and spicy, bigger than their imitators, and the crust there is still better than anywhere else. The dirty rice was just as I remember, too. Again, really well-seasoned. All the waitstaff was incredibly friendly, hospitable and very attentive, in spite of a bustling crowd. Or maybe because of the crowd -they seem to thrive on it! If I were going to get picky about anything, it might be the salad bar, which was looking a little tired, but we were there late in the afternoon near closing on a busy Saturday, plus we do not go to Lasyone's for salad, so no points off. Thanks for a nice step back in time to college days.

My cousin and I went down to Frecnh Quarter Fest in NOLA before a concert at House of Blues with a very specific mission to find meat pies. And lo and behold, the first food area we came too had a Lasyone's booth. These meat pies are straight outta Natchitoches and are the REAL deal. I had a meat pie, she had a crawfish pie. Both were fan-freaking-tastic. The dough was awesome, the filling was awesome, and the balance of dough to filling was spot on. I'm already looking for others to go in on an online order. That's how good they were.
(5)Laura Lu M.
We got the crawfish pie and the meat pie. The crawfish pie was out of this world! Yummy flavors! We also got a small cup of the gumbo and Jason liked it! I thought it was a little salty. The staff was super friendly and the inside of the restaurant was quaint. It seems like you would go there after church way back when.

During our first trip to the lovely town of Natchitoches we used yelp to help us find this locally loved gem. Even though the place seemed to be stuck in a decorators time warp (the 1950's) the fantastic food made me forget all about its lack of ambiance. If you are in this town to visit don't miss Lasyone's meat pies! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. The gumbo was also fantastic... (Not spicy enough- but that was easily fixed with my best friend Tabasco!). My husband thought the red beans and rice were cooked perfectly... (He liked how the beans weren't cooked till they were mushy.) We both highly recommend this place... It was like eating at your grandmas (if your grandma was the best cook in town!)
(4)Jaime P.
You need to meat these pies. Pro tip: Go with large group so you can all order something different and everyone gets to try all the things. My ass rocked the Louisiana shrimp n' grits with a meat pie on the SIDE, dawwwwg. Yumz. My homies ordered a bunch of other stuff, so I balled down on some gumbo (yumbo) some dirty rice (baller), crawfish pie (forGET the beef meat pie) and crawfish étouffée (hellz to the yeah, mofugga). Why did my tone shift in the last paragraph? Oh, I don't know. Maybe cause the food be GANGSTA?!? I ain't playin, foo! Fo sho! Jane and Michael Stern be diggin this place, heard about it on Splendid Table, NPR, son! No joke! Paula Deen, Lynne Rossetto Kasssspaaaaaa peace OUT!

The area here is like a rustic old timey shopping center. The restaurant was in the back with a beautiful front. The inside is very homey and clean. They had a salad bar, which was decently stocked. Wouldn't say it was great but it had the standard salad, dressings, slaw, and such. Nothing special and nothing to write home about. Now... The food. Omg their meat pies were so delicious. The meat inside was moist and well seasoned. Their dirty rice was alright (I have never been a fan of dirty rice) and their carrot casserole was off the hook. Just the right sweetness and seasoning. Everything was spot on. Their crawfish pies were also pretty good. I don't like crawfish, but they made their pies very tasty. And that is saying a lot. All in all, this is a good eats place. I know it will be very nostalgic next time I eat here because it was pretty good. I couldn't eat here all the time but I definitely visit here again.
(4)Cynthia H.
Enjoyed a great lunch here today! They were packed at 2:00, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Their meat pies are truly the best I've ever eaten. I had the crawfish pie basket with Cajun rice and my husband had the regular meat pie basket with red beans and rice. So, so good! You even get to keep the Lasyone's beverage cup!

Stopped off during Spring Break and we were fortunate because it wasn't crowded as other reviewers stated. We sat ourself and the waitress was prompt and attentive. I had the Crawfish pie with red beans and rice and my wife had a meat pie with creamed potatoes and broccoli rice caserole. The food arrived very quickly and it was all divine. Everything was spiced very well and didn't need to add anything to it. You definitely have to add a slice of their dessert speciality Cane River Cream Pie which is not found anywhere else. If you come to Natchitoches, I highly recommend coming here.
(5)Toni W.
Best biscuits I have ever eaten. Bacon was perfect. Hubby loved the gravy and he is VERY particular about his gravy! This was definitely the best place to eat breakfast.
(5)Mike A.
Meat pie on point! Unless you've had this here meat pie, keep quiet. It is "the One"
(5)Olia F.
Food wasn't bad, but wasn't that great either. The food came out quick, but placing our order took quite a bit. The waitress told me that these are the meat pies sold exclusively at the Cowboys stadium. Cute and quaint. I'd stop by again if I ever came back in town.
(3)Brad D.
Got the crawfish pie with red beans and rice. Great price. Red beans and rice were good. The crawfish pie was excellent. Great prices. Cozy atmosphere. I'll be back.
(5)Kimberlin M.
There was a line outside whenever we arrived, but the wait staff was able to seat our group of 10 within 15 minutes. The food was tasteful - I do wish the meat pies and red beans & rice were a little more seasoned, but it was a great portion and friendly, quick service. We'll be back!
(4)Dalton D.
One of my favorite places in Natchitoches! I get 2 meat pies and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. I love eating here! It is a little on the expensive side but it's worth it.
(5)Danielle D.
Visiting Natchitoches we kept hearing about these special meat pies but they had already closed for the day. So we went back right before noon today. Totally lived up to the hype. Crawfish pie was really good but no match for the meat pie. Service was quick and attentive. By the time we were done there was a line outside. I will definitely be back.
(5)Ankita P.
Meat pie was good but nothing to write home about. Perfectly satisfactory meal but to be honest the prices were a bit over the top for what it was. Sweet tea was absolutely excellent tho - I loved it.

I decided to try Lasyone's after having just tried another place in the area that shall remain nameless. I ordered the Fried Creole Chicken Sandwich minus the ham and Jalapeno Poppers. The The chicken was crispy yet tender and the ciabatta bread was slightly toasted. The sandwich was very tasty and the poppers were very hot and tasty. My server was very good. Attentive yet not the hovering type. The hostess on the other hand needs to be pay attention to customer coming into the restaurant. I observed her ignoring customers coming in and not thanking customers for dining at Lasyone's. I'd come back if in the area again.

Natchitoches is famous for its meat pies. In fact, the Natchitoches meat pie is the official state meat pie of Louisiana. (Do other states have official meat pies?) We were told by several different residents of Natchitoches that the meat pies at Lasyone's are the original and the best. I have to say, they are very good, but after reading the ingredients and learning that they are deep fried in fat, I only had one meat pie while there and will have to take everyone's word that there are no others that are better than Laysone's. However, even if you are not interested in a meat pie, Lasyone's is excellent and everyone in my party ordered different things. It is down-home Louisiana and Southern cooking at its best. If you are in Natchitoches, you have to try this place. They are only open for breakfast and lunch on Mondays -- Saturdays and close at 3:00pm each day. So, don't wait around until Sunday, or you'll be out of luck.

Don't be a dummy, get the mat pies. Add a side of cornbread or the fried bread fritters and add honey.
(4)Evan J.
My wife and I came here mostly out of boredom and to get away from Fort Polk. The restaurant is two small rooms but not too crowded. I got the meat pie that included the salad bar. The salad bar was pretty good I would have to describe it as something similar to what you would get at a high quality BBQ. I've never had a meat pie before but it seemed to be high quality and probably prepared well but I just don't think they are very good. I would say it was mediocre at best. My wife had the crawfish meat pie which wasn't nearly as good as the standard one as it seemed a little thick. I got the french fries which were the exact same ones you could get in a 5 pound bag from walmart. Not good. My wife got the onion rings which seemed to be prepared on site and were much better than my fries. Is is really so hard for restaurants to cut fresh fries? Our waitress was nice and ensured our drinks stayed filled. I have absolutely no complaints about the service. We probably won't come here again.
(3)Cebil R.
Truly lived up to expectations. Meat pie and crawfish pie are insanely delicious. Bon appetit
(5)Phil D.
"Great meat pies but lacking in other areas." Lasyone's is said to be THE place to go for the meat fried pies (or, "meat pies") which Natchitoches is known for. I found the pies to live up to expectations but was underwhelmed by the rest of the experience. When I first walked in, I saw that the restaurant was relatively empty (maybe six occupied tables). Nevertheless, we wound up standing by the register waiting for at least five minutes before someone even took notice of us. Again, they weren't that busy. Once we were seated, the waitress was extremely friendly...just slow and inattentive. We also found there to be at least two versions of the menu, as my wife's had a few items not listed on mine and vice-versa. Seeing "salad bar" paired with some of the menu items, we went into the adjoining room to check it out but were disappointed and decided to pass. I wound up just ordering a meat pie and a crawfish pie, hoping to get a proper sampling of their specialty. Against my advice, my wife and her friend ordered sandwiches. And not surprisingly, they were unoriginal and nothing worth getting excited over. On the other hand, the meat pies were good. They were perfectly fried and the filling was flavorful. I found that I enjoyed the meat pie slightly more than the crawfish pie. Before leaving, I decided to visit the restroom since we were planning on walking around the downtown area for a while. Bad idea. To get to the restrooms, you have to walk through the rear kitchen/dishwashing area where you will find a dirty single unisex water closet. How disappointing to see in a restaurant. I've been in gas station bathrooms cleaner than this. I'm sorry, but the cleanliness of a restroom is usually indicative of the overal cleanliness of the business. This one was bad. Aside from the slow service (common for Natchitoches restaurants, I found), miserable salad bar, and filthy restrooms, Lasyone's was alright. But I'm going to have to give it just two stars since nothing about the experience impressed me.

Just rediculously good, and consistent for the 20 years I remember going there coming back to Many every summer for the Mains Family Reunion every year.

I went here at around 1:30PM on a weekday. I wanted to try a real Natchitoches Meat pie. The lady that waited on me was really nice but that was where the pleasantries ended. I ordered an unsweet iced tea and the meat pie combo with dirty rice and fried okra with a trip to the salad bar. I knew the price was $13.95 but the only thing on the salad bar was a slight bit of lettuce with some black olives and a lot of potato salad. Every other thing on the bar was empty, I thought that it was where they put the dirty dishes at first. Then the meal came out and it was barely edible. the dirty rice was so greasy that the rice clumped together and spiced inappropriately hot. The meat pie was also greasy with no taste at all. The cup of brown gravy had a burnt taste. The tea and okra was good but that's hard to mess up. The saddest part was with a 20% tip the bill was over $20.00 for a meal that I had better at a gas station.

My family and I always thought this place needed a visit from Robert Irvine and Restaurant Impossible. This was supposed to be the most famous place to eat in this town, and I felt that was a poor representation. Yes, they made their meat pies, and you could have one of those if that was your thing. The rest of the food was nothing to brag about. Everything seemed a bit overpriced for what you got (quality), and the salad bar was a joke. I understand they weren't a place appealing to a salad bar crowd. It seems like they were just struggling to hold on to a name they created years ago and the food and service just went downhill. You dealt with that when you came to visit Natchitoches, and it is a shame that was a place that was representative to the town, but at the same time it was a perfect representation. I know the name is Lasyone's - but it always felt like "Lazy One's" to me from what you got.

5 stars for the BEST Natchitoches MEAT PIES EVER ! ! ! The Crawfish pies are super good, too! This place has been around since 1967. The building has seen it's better days...BUT, that's what gives it character, right! The line to get in is sometimes long, but it's worth the wait ! Authentic CAJUN/CREOLE CUISINE. Don't forget to try the Cane River Cream Pie.....mmmm! After reading Kim B.'s review.....saying there was a dead lizard in her drink.....they don't drink much & I hope they didn't charge her for it! ha! ha! We're still always goin' back!!!
(5)Beth Anne M.
No trip to Natchitoches would be complete without a trip to Lasyone's! The staff is always super nice and willing to answer any question that you have. Portions are huge, enough to split. The meat pies and crawfish pies are amazing and sold frozen by the dozen so you can take some home to savor later. Gumbo was delicious, full of chicken and sausage but a little soupy (no okra or file powder to thicken it). Overall a great family friendly place that we'll go back to when we're in town.

Very overrated and certainly not a place for Health/Sanitary folk... I ate there several times in the early to mid 1990s and the food was quite good, but on my last visit, during Christmas 2010, it was very poor. The first and major complaint had to do with seating. Granted, I dined there the night of the City of Lights Festival and firework show, so there were a lot of people. Nobody was getting seated for over twenty minutes, and I was yelled at by a worker for standing near, but not in, the claustrophobic line, which set the tone for a rather unpleasant dining experience. After getting seated eventually, I learned that the restroom had to be accessed by going near the kitchen, an obvious health risk. They wanted only 4 people between the door and single, small, unisex restroom, but that was impossible. At least there is a public restroom downtown that's easier to get in and out. The food was ok, but, nothing special. There are plenty of meat pie eateries in and around the area. Especially during the Festival of Lights, there are kiosks that sell meat pies and other local and regional delicacies for cheaper. In short, if Lasyone's is on your "places to eat before you die" list, then go there by all means; otherwise, there are other places around Natchitoches, both downtown and on the outskirts, that are better.
(2)Lindsay S.
We drove there from Shreveport for breakfast one morning because my Grandma was pretty sure it was worth the 2+ hour drive. She was totally right! The service could have been better but the food was great!
(4)Staci G.
This place really captures the heart of Louisiana. The food was great! The desserts were even better. The patrons seem to all know one another and were very friendly. The service was great. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is in Nachitoches and wants to eat where the locals eat.
(4)Elkay D.
This is the famous restaurant in town but the food is AWFUL. It must have been great at one point to have the kind of reputation it does. My advice is to eat at Merci Beaucoup instead and then to go to get take away from this place- but only order one meat pie- because you won't want to eat it after having tried perfection at Merci Beaucoup. Even dingy little bars in town have better meat pies than this place. I was so disappointed.
(2)Michael D.
This place has been here for years! The meat pies are just as delicious as when they first opened. I went back a few years ago and inhaled a few meat pies before almost having to roll myself out the door... Sad thing is, the day before I ate there Lasyone's had discontinued their FedEx-ing of meat pies... I was really disappointed as I had promised my sister in Florida that'd send some her way... So to make myself happy, I ordered a dozen to-go and continued on my trip across the US of A!
(5)Mary C.
Heard about how great the meat pies were so had to try them. Well it was very disappointing. Wait in line, barley fit through the tables to get to our table. Got our drinks pretty quickly and then had to wait a very long time for food. Waitress was snarly and brought the other couples meal well before ours. The meat pie was so bad that I was glad I was sharing one. The shrimp po boy featured beautiful shrimp but had a weird spice. Had to wait 4 or 5 minutes to pay. Very disappointing and will not be back.
(1)Deborah C.
I went with a visiting out-of-state friend who wanted to eat at Lasyone's. She had gone to school in Natchitoches years ago. I am not a big fan of Lasyone's food, however it is not bad, just mediocre. This was the Tour of Homes weekend and thus had many tourists coming in to eat. They have changed their menu format and now there are only three vegetable choices as a side; there used to be many more choices. There is not a lunch menu, and prices have increased significantly. Our waitress was exceptional. She was friendly and attentive. She made the experience very nice. Then we tried to pay. We had to wait in line for at least 4-5 minutes before anyone even showed up to take our money. We she finally showed up, she had another staff person with her. She was aggravated about something work-related and was complaining to her companion in front of customers waiting to pay, and in front of customers waiting to be seated. She never greeted the customers in front of us, or us. Never asked if everything was okay. Never looked us in the eye. Never thanked us for coming. All she did was tell what was owed and handed us change. For customers entering the restaurant, and customers checking out (first and last impressions) she did not give a positive impression. I do not believe that staff should complain about work in front of customers. Customers should be treated with courtesy and they should look forward to returning. This cashier did neither; the customers were just in the way. Again, I want to commend our waitress. She was wonderful. It seems that some training is warranted on good customer service to the cashier.
(2)Caleb M.
Hadn't been in many years. I remembered it being just ok, but we'd go with family since it's really a Natchitoches institution. Went with friend this weekend and it was much better than I remembered. Meat pie plate and red beans were really good. Sweet tea was perfect. Service was great, which was a surprise given how busy it was on a holiday/graduation weekend. Definitely recommend!

Great as always...if you're not a regular always ask about their specials, some of their hidden secrets!
(5)Mary Jo S.
This was the husband and my first experience for meat pies. Already you have to give it 5 stars for a first time experience. However, we ordered 2 cooked meat pies from the walk up window to take to the Longleaf Trail. While we waited, we read all the articles, awards, and autographed photos of Lorne Green, Vanna White, Doc Severson, and the cast of Steel Magnolias. Paula Dean touted these pies from the original meat pie company. Once we got our pies, we placed them in a cooler and drove to the Longleaf Vista. We pulled out our lawn chairs and enjoyed the most incredible savory pies ever and a Louisiana vista with a Bud Light. It does not get any better.
(5)Lisa M.
Had not had meat pies before. They were good but nothing we'd come back for. Next time, we'll try another restaurant to compare. The dirty rice was good. Had lunch by the lake so ordered take out. Was hoping to receive some good Southern hospitality but other than the accent, wouldn't be able to tell. Was excited about the Cane River Pie after reading reviews. Very disappointed. Did not care for the gingerbread base, some sort of starchy whipped cream and Hershey's syrup. I love Hershey's syrup but not at a restaurant. Lasyone's - been there, will try someplace new next time. The town of Natchitoches was worth the drive though!

Go in and get frozen or fresh meat pies to go, no need to sit down
(5)Joseph B.
The meat pies were tasty, but rich. Preferred the baked to the fried. The onion rings were ok. Service was great.
(3)Tara K.
I've sampled meat pies at four different eateries in Natchitoches over the last 1 1/2 years, and I must say the ones at Lasyone's are quite tasty, and the mildest you'll find most anywhere. It's a mom and pop joint, and a comfortable place to take your family to eat breakfast or lunch--home cooking, nothing fancy about the interior. If you prefer, buy the frozen pies to take home and fix later. Definitely worth a trip at least once.

This place was great. Meat pies were great, po-boys were great, red beans and rice were fantastic. This was the food that we expected to find in Louisiana. Sweet tea was excellent.

I'm a little torn about how to review Lasyone's. I've been here numerous times and this place is probably the most famous eatery in Natchitoches. The food has been good every time I've eaten here - authentic Cajun cuisine. However, I would not recommend that the squeamish eat here. I'll explain... I brought my Grandmother here the weekend of my college graduation (from NSU) and there was a dead LIZARD in her drink. Yes, you read that correctly. It was gross, and the glasses were clear (so any server that was conscientious would have seen this HUGE lizard). The staff did not even offer to comp her meal after the nasty experience. Needless to say, that was my last trip to Lasyone's. I'm sure my experience was a rare one, but the attitude of the staff was awful. It is a tourist hot-spot and there are other places around town that serve meat pies. Based on my service experience, I recommend skipping Lasyone's during any visit to Natchitoches.

Really good home cooking! And lots and lots of it! I ordered the daily plate special of chicken fried steak, creamed potatoes, squash casserole, coleslaw and cornbread, all for just $9.25. As an appetizer, I had to order one of their meat pies, as I am an aficionado of said pies. The food was all very delicious and I left, fuller than full after washing it all down with sweet tea after sweet tea. The meat pie was homemade and fantastic! This is a great place, deserving of its' reputation and all of its' accolades. It is a Nachitoches institution!

Passed its Prime. But if you are a name dropper, then pick up a meat pie to-go. Everyone can relate to a Natchitoches meat pie.

We stopped in Nachitoches since our family loves the movie, "Steel Magnolias". Lasyone's pulled up on our search so we thought we give it a try. Wow, were we impressed! I ordered the grilled Cajun Catfish over creamed potatoes with a salad bar. Kelli got the Meat pie. If you're looking for catfish done right, this is the place to go. The seasonings were perfect and it was cooked just right. The creamy potatoes were perfect didn't need any gravy on them...the sauce used for the catfish does it just right. On the meat pie, I found the stuffing flavorful with the seafood. The crust was fried just right...flaky but not greasy. Kelli loved the cajun rice. At the end we ordered Lasyone's version of a Boston Cream pie. Very well done! The service was friendly and attentive and the owner cashed us out. Very nice meeting her and hearing about the history as well as their bid to be at the Texas State Fair. Hope that works out for them! We will definitely return on our next trip!

I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was perfect. Fries were ok and the salad bar didn't look very appetising at all. But sandwich was great! Also, I hear their burgers are fantastic so I'll try that next time im in town.

Step back in time to the best meat pies & crawfish pies in town at Lasyone's. You'll even find an old-school salad bar, here. Great food & service in a nostalgic 60's style diner, setting. The perfect Natchitoches lunch spot!
