This is another small town sandwich/burger joint They have over 50 different kinds of sandwiches (and cleverly named too) so you can have your pick of something different on each visit. That staff is friendly and very accomodating, as with many local joints around here. Our waitress immediately brought us some homemade pickle slices as soon as we sat down in a booth. My gf and I ordered the fried pickles and hush puppies for appetizer. Note: the batter on the fried pickle slices were way too salty for us and the waitress brought us fried pickle spears to replace the overly salty pickle slices. The spears were really good, but make sure you let them cool down before eating. The hush puppies were also very good as well and had shredded cheddar cheese in them--definitely a must order for my next trip there! For lunch, we split the Zydeco Chicken sandwich. It comes with either breaded or grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese, jalapeno bun, and 2 crispy onion rings. You can choose fries, chips, cole slaw, or sweet potato fries as your side order. I saw that they also have a wide variety of beers available too, but I'm not much of a beer drinker myself. Overall, we were pleased with our lunch and the excellent service at Pickle Barrel. I'd come back again to try all the other different sandwiches there! I wonder how the Natchitoches meat pie, gumbo, and jambalaya compare to others that I've had in this area.

The Pickle Barrel... So I would definitely recommend it to any adult and I wouldn't recommend it for children under 10.. This place has good sandwiches, good atmosphere good tasting food period. Um the place I would definitely recommend it to get a bigger place, because it gets crowded REALLY FAST. I went to this pub with co-workers during lunch I tried the Zydeco burger with curly French fries and it was well prepared and everything was good... I wouldn't recommend going during lunch because it'll definitely be packed... I would go during dinner so it'll be less packed and you can be seated faster.. I hope this helps. Overall I would give it a 3-4/10

I went on a Saturday for lunch after reading a few reviews. The atmosphere is really nice, laid back and casual. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed by my french dip sandwich. The meat was dried out and not a ton of flavor. The bread was fresh and just the amount of crunchy. The sandwich was served with gravy instead of the standard au jus sauce. Still not sure how I feel about that. On a positive note, my bloody mary was wonderful! :-) I will give this place another try and hope that maybe I just caught them on a bad day.

Had an excellent experience here. Not a regular since I travel for work but went here off of the Yelp reviews and was not let down. Sat at the bar and bartender Joe was awesome.. Funny and a good bartender. Monday night is happy hour all day.. Will definitely be back when I'm back in town.

Bomb diggity, beer flows like the Nile and the food is greasy, fat and delicious, great time with friends or family, I recommend the cowboy burger

The first time I dined here with my friends I had a satisfied experience for their happy hour on Tuesdays - two for one burgers and half off beers. The burgers were tasty and the beers on draft quenched my thirst. The servers were friendly and even let us try samples of different beers. However.. the second time I dined here last night with some friends, it was the biggest disappointment. I checked what time this place closes before deciding to dine in. On Yelp, it said it closes at 10PM. My friends and I came in at 9, we also seen another table dine in at 9 as well. Right when we got seated, our server greeted us in a aggravated, ill-mannered way. He told us the kitchen closes at 9 and the bar opens until 2. We were confused because Yelp shows that they close at 10. He made it seem like it was all our fault and made us feel guilty. My friends apologized and we did feel bad for coming when the kitchen was closing; but really, how are we to know when it clearly displays to the public that this place closes at 10? So we were about to get up to leave and go somewhere else, but instead the server insisted it was okay and that he will still take our order anyway. I was a server myself for three years so I can understand the irritation, but the server went beyond it with his disgusting attitude. While he was taking our orders and we asked him questions about the menu, he replied with rude, clever remarks that made him appear as a superior know-it-all smart ass. My cajun burger wasn't as great as the first time, it was burnt and tasteless. At this point on, I didn't even seem to care about the quality of the food. Everything was just tasteless to me, maybe because I was so disgusted by our server. At the end after we cashed out, he awkwardly told us, "Sorry for the misunderstanding of what time the kitchen closes. It closes at 9. Next time you know so you guys won't come late. It's everywhere that we close at 9, on the site too. Don't be THOSE people." My friends apologized, but I did NOT feel apologetic one bit. I loss it and thought it was so disrespectful when he said, "Don't be those people." Really? What kind of server tells customers that? It's not like we were being non-compliant and giving him a hard time. It wasn't in our attempt to come in while the kitchen was closing and we would have clearly left but he insisted to take our order and serve us. I was so frustrated I told him it's not really our fault because Yelp says it closes at 10, and suggested to update their times. He was dumbfounded for a minute and said they'll change it. I did notice only Tuesdays they close at 10, probably due to their happy hour deal. Maybe the server was new and forgot that only on Tuesdays they close at 10. Probably would have gave this establishment 3 stars if we didn't have poor service from a mighty douche bag.

Absolutely cool atmosphere. Great place to meet for drinks. My burger was just ok. Lacking flavor honestly. Ordered a drink and couldn't even drink it. The mixture of flavors was a bit much. My husband's meal was lacking flavor as well. Fried pickles were awesome though.

Pickle Barrel was my go to place for a few years before I moved away from North Louisiana. I have been on dates here and even brought my son here for his first outing after he was just born. It was one of the places that I missed when I moved, and I try to hit when I go home. Sandwiches are a personal thing. Everyone likes their just so. I don't like everything on the menu here, but I always enjoy my meal. The service is not 5 star, but this is a good homey restaurant with charm and wit. If you are new to the place, let them know, the people there are southern after all, and will take care of you. All you have to do is ask. The sides are a compliment to the sandwiches, buy almost all of them are fried. The fried pickles are always a winner. I really enjoy them. For some reason, I think the food here always tastes better with a soda. If you don't like pickles, don't worry, you can find plenty to eat without them.

Their sandwiches are incredible, very entertaining staff, and a huge beer selection. Love it.

We rated this 4 stars bc of the food. Their burgers are absolutely the best. It has the largest selection of beer out of any place in the Monroe/West Monroe/Ruston area. It's reasonably priced. The only downside is the atmosphere. It's basic, which makes it feel more like a lunch place.

Awesome place. Great samiches and great craft beers. You need to eat here. DJ is the owner and had a great conversation.

This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Monroe. The Zydeco Burger is absolutely delicious. If you order a sandwich, I strongly suggest the jalapeno bun. They also have 2 for 1 burgers and draft beer on Tuesdays, which is a clear winner. The only thing I've had here that I wasn't impressed with was the roast beef. Also at night they turn into a bar and offer a large beer selection and live music on the weekends.

I love Pickle Barrel. It's in a great shopping center. The signs on the wall are hilarious, I recommend reading all of them.:D The menu is full of sandwich choices with cutesy names. I love the fried pickle appetizers. There is a LARGE selection of foreign beers. It's pretty amazing. You have different bread choices, and my favourite sandwiches are usually corned beef related. Including my all-time fav, the Heart-Burn Hotel....or something like that;)
