Cormier's is a very casual Cajun place in a converted gas station with picnic tables and beer signs out front. They're known for crawfish, which I have not tried, and the pig sandwich, which I have. It's a pulled-pork po' boy with an abundance of fixings, including if I recall correctly their own pickled cabbage. Yum! They also introduced me to pickled okra and I now keep a jar in the fridge at all times.

If you are looking for the best, spicy crawfish in town, then Cormier's Restaurant is the place for you. Cormier is a Cajun and Creole style restaurant, but are known for their crawfish. Unlike other places around their crawfish is consistent, so you know what to expect. When you go here you know you will always get some good southern crawfish. I will warn you now that the crawfish are spicy, so EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Then they have the bouncy house, which is great to entertain the kids, plus many times they will bring out a live crawfish to show the kids and they LOVE it! On the night we went, they had live entertainment and it was great. The only con is that many times you have to wait on seating, but I promise you it is worth the wait. The staff is also very friendly; they do not make you wait a very long time to be waited on.

Sooo totally bummed -- I will be driving through Monroe and will NOT get to taste -- the restaurant is closed until August.... bummed.

Cormier's is the HOME of crawfish in Monroe. Cold beer, and flavourful crawfish. I LOVE it.

The pig sandwich was good but my friend went with corn dog.... Which was microwaved...couldn't even bother to fry it?! This is the South! We came all the way to West Monroe from Portland for a microwaved corn dog?!

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I left the South for the military 14 years ago and have traveled the world but I have yet to taste something as unexplicably mouthwatering as the crawfish at Cormier's!!!!! Understand that this is true Louisana. My wife and I went there for dinner and in the spirit of full disclosure, she was less than impressed. This resturant is inside a converted old school gas station. There are eight to ten tables inside and quite a few more picnic tables outside under the awning where it seems the old pumps might have once been. Le Cordon Bleu this is not but as the sign on the wall says when you come in the door, "If you have reservations, your in the wrong place." On to my most memorable meal, for starters the house boudin is great. Spicy and porky, its swine at its cajun best!!!! Soon therafter came my taste of the Bayou. 5 pounds of HUGE, meaty, spicy as H#LL crawfish!!! Trust me when I tell you the spice from these mudbugs is enough to set you right for days!!!! Pooling in the heads, this spicy, saucy, head fat infused greatness is the perfect compliment for the oversized critters. After about eight of them I was sweating like crazy!!! You will not find a more realistic and TRUE taste of what you have hear of anywhere else!!!! Boudin, 5 lbs. crawfish, ample teeth-bustin' cold Bud Light.........It just doesn't get any better than this!!!!! Do not even think you can call yourself a "foodie" of any status unless you have tasted the manna from heaven that is Cormier's Crawfish!!!!!

I've been here and had the pig sadwich on both occasions. It is DELICIOUS. I wasn't sure how I would like it with the spicy sour crout on top but it compliments the pork perfectly. Get the whole sandwich since it only is a dollar more (which comes out to like $5.50-6.50 or something). I would call before going to insure that it's open; I know it's seasonally closed some parts of the year.

Cormier's is an excellent eatery in Monroe. The boiled seafood is excellent. The only deterrents are the relative lack of seating and, subjectively, the way they season their seafood. They opt to put the seasoning on the exoskeleton of the seafood, which is rather strange, at least from the point of view of a South Louisianian.

My husband found this restaurant on Google and decided that it should be one of our stops. The weather was nice enough for us to sit outside. There was also a moon bounce for kids to play while the grown-ups devour on the crawfish. We ordered 5 pounds of crawfish and 3 cups of gumbo. I thought the gumbo was kind of bland, but the crawfish was amazingly juicy. I like the seasoning that they used so I bought a jar for myself to use at home. The service that we received from our server was good. I like that they have rubber gloves available for customers to use/

I came here while in town on business and dined solo. I think I would have enjoyed the place a lot more if I were with a group. The set up of the place is very casual and a seat yourself kind of joint. I wish there were signs explaining this as it was a little awkward upon arrival. I love crawfish and do not get the opportunity to eat them very often so I was really looking forward to a local Cajun feast of mudbugs. In short, I've had better...at fraternity parties. While they had a lot of flavor, they were pretty overcooked and a little mushy. The guts in these guys were pretty messy as well-- more so than other servings of crawfish I've had. Also, they only came with one small red potato and one sad third of corn on the cob. A few more potatoes would have been nice. I would give 3 stars for the food. The service is where they lose an extra star. It just wasn't good. My server didn't seem organized and didn't check in on me. When it came to pay, I didn't have a check, and I didn't really know what to do. Turns out, you pay at the register after they give you a sheet. I just wish that had been explained a little bit better.

I was in Monroe for a few days for work last month, and Cormier's was my favorite food experience, hands-down. They have lots of Cajun items on their menu, but from the Yelp reviews I sensed they are known for their crawfish, and when I arrived, every single table was eating crawfish, so that's what I went with. I loved seeing everybody getting their hands so dirty (even one couple that looked like they were on a first date). The atmosphere is super-casual, so I was surprised by the price ($21 for 3 pounds of crawfish, which sounds and looks like a lot of crawfish, but didn't actually fill me up for very long). The crawfish itself had a great seasoning, and went really well with an Abita Amber and the potato and corn-on-the-cob they give you with the crawfish. My server was great, very attentive, and kept bringing me more sauces to try: butter, lemon butter, Nancy's sauce (a mayo-based sauce), and cocktail sauce (I liked them in that order: butter the best and cocktail sauce the least). Overall, a very fun and tasty experience (and FYI, I was dining alone).

I'm guessing there aren't too many out-of-towners that venture into Cormier's. We are likely the minority. Meanwhile, in town for a ULM football game we looked for the most local Cajun we could find and ended up here, twice. The first time we came for the blue crabs, which they unfortunately sold out by 7pm and we left and went somewhere else. However, the second time, we decided to dive into the regular menu (it wasn't crawfish season). What surprised us the most was the prices. For the quality of food that's delivered here, the prices are superb, almost too cheap to believe. If you've been to a Pappadeaux or Copeland's, expect to shave those prices in half and get better food. Cormier's is quality Cajun without a high price tag. But, don't expect white tablecloth service, either. Sure, there's friendly, helpful waitresses, but here you can eat with the locals, eat local food and enjoy a laid back atmosphere on picnic tables in the sweltering heat! What could be better, right? Still, the prices pave the way for a great lunch or dinner with the entire family, without having to shovel too much cash. And, they do a great job at delivering good Po-Boys, gumbo, crawfish etouffee and other Cajun dishes. If you want casual and flavor, you'll come here.

Last night was my first visit to Cormiers and it won't be my last. Everyone including patrons were friendly. My wait person recommended the pig sandwich which was on Gambino bread. I actually came for the crawfish but got there 20 minutes before closing and they had finished for the night, so that's the focus of my next visit. I also had a .5 pound of spicy steamed shrimp that like the pig sandwich were extremely good. For sides I had red beans, rice and sausage and jambalaya. All were very good with an Abita Amber to wash it all down. The simpleness of sitting outside on a Spring night at a picnic table with families, couples and friends enjoying good food had me wishing I tried this place sooner.

Usually the very best in crawfish. Tonight, they were dry and almost too spicey. The servers did try and brought us a fresh plate which goes a long way in my book. I will always go back because 4 out of the last 5 times it's been GREAT!!

Giving this place a 3 stars. Getting there was easy coming from the outskirts of Monroe. First thing to note: we got there at around 6-7 and the place was PACKED: all the seats were full and we had to sit in a section outside of the main section. It was okay for us. Didn't matter to me. We ordered 2x of the 3 pound crawfish and a seafood gumbo. The crawfish is the star of this place: it's fresh and succulent. There's no "muddy" taste that is found in old or unfresh crawfish. I enjoyed the seasoning thoroughly. I caution those who aren't spicy eaters to try to just stick to eating the meat and not sucking on the shell to get the little bits out. The seasoning is EXTREMELY SPICY. The seafood gumbo on the other hand is a good example of gumbo but not the best I had. It had shrimp and crawfish and tasted great. Up to the standard of gumbo but could use more of the rice and seafood. Taste wise it was okay but had a lot of liquid and not enough meat. I also ordered a bread pudding. To be frank after having the crawfish and the gumbo I definitely wanted to try the desserts because I thought it would be the same standard as the crawfish. It wasn't. The bread pudding comes with just butter. First off, this works for me if the bread pudding itself is spectacular but this one was pretty firm and not soft. It also didnt have the same sweetness as others in the area. I was disappointed. I also think that if they served their bread pudding with some chocolate or caramel sauce, it would definitely be better because the pudding would be sweet and soft as a result of those sauces. Overall I was pretty satisfied with this place. Top notch crawfish. However the place is outside and even though the wait staff were attentive, the cleanliness could be better since they were serving so many people. It was hot outside and since the crawfish was spicy it just made it uncomfortable at times and I had to slow down. The gumbo was great but the bread pudding was unimpressive and not up to par. Could be better. If you are looking for the best crawfish in the area, come here. Just don't get the bread pudding.

If you're looking for highly seasoned crawfish SHELLS and HEADS....this is the place for you. The crawfish tails/meat doesn't have a taste to them. All of the seasonings are on the outside shells of the crawfish. As stated in another post, they don't purge the crawfish and the price is about $4.48 per pound. They're very busy and they have to turn over the crawfish extremely fast. I understand the business side meaning not having enough time to purge them but that's not for me. I want my crawfish purged, juicy, hot and spicy (especially for the price). Great location but they could stand more seating during the crawfish season. FYI: I believe on the weekend they have live music. 1.75 Rating out of 5

Recommended by friends who grew up in Monroe! It was fantastic!! Tons of crawfish, loved the butter sauce, and the corn was perfect

Best crawfish, multiple ways, in Northeast Louisiana. The boiled crawfish coming in during peak season are perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The crawfish ettoufè is delicious!!! There's no other place in the area I'd recommend for consistently great food with good service from the local college kids, the only downfall at times.

I live in chicago, and dont think I've ever been to Louisiana, but because of this place, someday I'm coming back to Monroe FANTASTIC crawfish. TONS of seafood boil to help spice it up. Went with my parents who lived outside New Orleans for a few years and my Dad said this crawfish was as good as it gets. He plans to have them send up a shipment in March when the friendly cookers (in an open air kitchen) said the crawfish are best The Cormier Bowl was also Excellent - a combo of awesome roast pork, jambalaya, red beans and rice, and vinegary cole slaw. Made me really wish someone would have ordered the pig sandwich (after tasting that smoked pork its not surprising that the menu lists the sandwich as the #1 seller) The jambalaya was mostly rice and pretty pasty, but also very flavorful and good. In my opinion though it was a little light on the andouille The crawfish etouffee was alright - my mom enjoyed it quite a bit, but it didnt quite live up to what I was hoping for. The seafood gumbo was bland and disapointing to all. A definite "no" Our server Liz was superb - attentive, friendly, fast, and easy on the eyes Overall this restaurant was EXACTLY what we were looking for

Found this place from Yelp.com . The best crawfish I have eaten. The spices are perfect. If in Monroe, a must to eat at.

The "Pig Sandwich" and "Cormier's Bowl" are awesome, and the crawfish is the best in town!

The BEST food - crabs, boudin, CRAWFISH, gumbo, fried turkey's w/Mr. Larry's special sauce around Thanksgiving...seriously the best in Louisiana, can't be beat. If you're driving anywhere within a 50 mile radius of Cormier's, make a detour. You won't regret it.

Once again, Yelp has pulled through for me!! Cormier's was great. We had a little bit of an issue upon arrival, mainly because every single table was taken, there was a line of people standing next to a wall who said they had also never been there and that they weren't sure how the place worked. My boyfriend and I stood around for probably 20 minutes before I went inside and asked, then was told that tables were first come, first serve and you gotta catch one as it opens up. We waited for probably a total of 30 minutes for a table but it was WELL worth it. We shared a 5lb order of the crawfish, a cup of the seafood gumbo and pig bites. The pig bites and gumbo came first, both piping hot. The pig bites were basically pulled pork with some bbq flavoring on pieces of french bread, topped with strips of cabbage. They were good, but nothing special. The gumbo, also, was nothing special. It was pretty bland in flavor. Our opinion of the place perked up upon the arrival of our crawfish though. I can't even describe the seasoning that Cormier's uses, but it is VERY good. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again and just stick to the crawfish!

Best crawfish in Monroe and the Pig Sandwich is legendary. I try to go there every time I'm in town.

I drove miles out of my way to go here and it was closed for the holidays. I'm still PO'd. Maybe not a fair shake to them but that's tough shrimp.

I love restaurant/gas station combos. They used to scare me but I know better now. Cormier's is just one of those little joints that most people would drive right by with their nose in the air if they saw it. They have covered picnic tables setup outside and a few handwritten signs with their specials. I ordered the pig sandwich with a side of jambalaya. (quick note, I don't think anywhere I ate in Monroe was vegetarian friendly, it's a southern thang) I almost asked the waitress for some BBQ sauce but decided to take a bite first. No sauce needed, this sandwich was a juicy mix of pork and coleslaw that tickled the whole way down. When I wanted a change from the juiciness I took a bite of that #@#%$^ing jambalaya. I was sad that I only got a side order of it because I couldn't eaten a whole order plus that damn sandwich. Prices where cheap and service was cool

Reviews were spot on. This place is great. It's not fancy. More of a functional Louisiana local dive. Clean enough. It's about the food not merely presentation. I've paid a lot more for cajun not nearly as good. Tons of locals eating there even for a Thursday night. Always a good sign. Seafood Gumbo was good as was Jambalaya. Saw that most folks were eating their crawfish. Most importantly the service was incredible. Everyone treated you like they knew you. Patient, fielded lots of my questions with ease. Not in a rush. Overheard one server telling a man how to eat crawfish. While paying I heard her say "Just taught a guy how to eat crawfish. It was so cute!" I'd go back for the service alone.
