I have found this place to have delicious oysters....but crawfish was meh. Crawfish was super soft and no flavors to it. The char grilled oysters had a good char on it. Fried seafood platter was decent. I think you really can't screw up fried fish but it is still possible. Luckily we had decent fried seafood platter. I would only come back to eat more oysters but probably nothing else.

Went Saturday night for my birthday, was craving lobster. We had the charbroiled oysters, salad, lobster,my son had the seafood platter, plenty of food.Everything was delicious, service was great!

The trick here is to order one dinner and an appetizer or two for two people. They have large servings. They do a great job with the catfish! It seems to be a local staple, but that does not mean they have given up their craft back in the kitchen. In New Orleans, they are average. In average america, they are on top of their game. I like this place.

Corn and crawfish chowder is really good here not the best but very tasty. I always get the lobster when we go here it has been good more times than not. The perfect cooked lobster should come easily out of the shell if it sticks it is overcooked and could be slightly chewy or very chewy depending on how overcooked it is. It is served with potatoes and corn on the cob the potatoes are usually spot on but sometimes corn is also overcooked. Having said that if you love lobster but not the price tag that can come with it then this is your spot.

Kinda dark and dingy inside. Had water from vents leaking on our table but they let us move tables. Went there for crawfish before leaving town, at $2 a pound, got what i was looking for

Attention black people! Do not go to Jaegers on Clearview! Tried to have a nice lunch with one of my close gal pals, was seated by the hostess, waitress politely looked us up and down and proceeded to not take our drink or food order. After another group walked in and sat down, the waitress immediately greeted them and started taking their order. We politely got up and walked out. I despise discrimination. That's all folks.

Well. Where do I begin? As I've mentioned in prior reviews, my family and I have enjoyed Jaegers since moving to their Elmwood location. I like the casual atmosphere and local food faves we NOLA people can't live without. I've given thumbs-up reviews to them in spite of glitches, etc. but we're all human so I'm willing to understand. That is, until now. Fast forward to Fathers Day 2015. We had 5 people total in our table seating. I've never had a meal as disastrous as this one. This is no joke! We went late afternoon on Father's Day after the crowds thinned out so it wasn't overly busy. Our waitress at first appeared pleasantly enough and took our drink order. That was ok. We also asked to start with some boiled crawfish as an appetizer. "Sure, no problem." She brought the drinks eventually and took our dinner order which was very simple - everyone got the same thing. She went to take my son's order -- who is almost 21 and has a full beard!!! -- and says "ma'am what would you like??" Once she realized her mistake, she stroked his hair and said "oh I thought you were a woman!" WHAT? Um, WHAT??????? I promise you he is not. We were not happy but willing to overlook that as to not ruin Fathers Day Dinner. Back to the appetizer. We presumed the crawfish were coming but didn't. When she did come back, she brought 5 salads (we ordered only 3) and no crawfish. "Oh!" She said. "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of that, be right back". She didn't. We ate our salad and waited then she appeared with something else we didn't order - chargrilled oysters. She started to leave those with us as if to say "yes you did order these". No. She just strangely slipped away saying nothing. All we wanted was our dinner at that point, nearly one hour into being seated. Something was way way off about this server. We have never had that. It is as if she was on heavy medication. Very very heavy. She moved in slow motion. And she would show up to other tables with our order that she (or someone) let sit for a long time. Seafood platters are always piping hot; this was room temp. We could have sent it back but then what? So we finally got our dinner an hour later. No appetizer but we let that go. 2 salads too many but she said don't worry. Plus when we DID receive our meal, she chirped "see, told you...perfect!" Huh??????? Right behind us was a booth where the same server dropped an entire lobster dinner on the table and then hit the floor. The people were aghast. Yes accidents happen. But too many things in the course of one hour? The spilled dinner sat there a while too. My dad asked for an iced tea 3 times. She finally brought it. TO THE TABLE NEXT TO US. She just left it with them instead of bringing it to the table it belonged to (US). Still no drink. She asked if she could get us anything else. My dad asked for tartar sauce for his seafood platter. She showed up much later and brought him salad dressing. Um, whatever. And then.... Out of nowhere, the server shows up. Not with a drink. Not with tartar sauce. Not with crawfish. But it was...a BOWL OF GUMBO. A bowl that we did not order. Just like the salads. Something was very wrong here. We had finally eaten and were full thank goodness and there was no room for gumbo. The weird thing was that she just sat it down with no words. We said "what is this?" She said "gumbo". We said we hasn't ordered any. She said "I know". It wasn't handled like a peace offering for a ruined meal. We kindly asked her to take it back, no one wanted it and no one ordered it. This was the strangest behavior I've ever seen from anyone. Whatever the cause, this was a short circuit like no other. Tripped fuse big time. And as everything came to a close and we were packing our to go boxes, getting ready to pay....she brings...AN RC COLA. Am I on Mars or what? The big finish: the check. She hands us the bill and remember those salads? Remember the "don't worry I've got this"? Well she ended up charging us for 5 salads - 2 we did not order. It's not about the money, it's about the principle of the matter. The kicker comes when I handed my card to her to pay and when she came back she started to give SOMEONE ELSE my card. She also thought for a minute that my credit card paid for someone else's bill. I mean the hits just kept coming! We got the bill sorted out. We didn't make an issue of the salads because to be honest I was not feeling like I would get anywhere with her or management. So we finished paying and she stood quietly over my shoulder (I didn't know until later) to see what kind of tip (!!!!!) I was leaving her! I mean seriously? SERIOUSLY Jaegers! You must do a better job of who gets hired and how they are trained because I counted no less than 5 separate tables that were affected by her deep incompetence which ultimately leads to losing $$$, repeat business, and future new business. Jaegers, we really like you all but we can never have this happen again
(1)Matt N.
I'm not sure why I waited so long to try this place. Great, locally owned seafood restaurant that has all the classics. We had delicious crawfish for $1.99/lb (thurs special) and chargrilled oysters that rival dragos. Their tap beer selection is vast and cold. I know it used to be on Lakeshore, but Jaegers just seems out of place in Harrahan; it would do well anywhere amongst the local Nola seafood places.
(5)Red B.
Went in last Friday night. Waited over 30 minutes for a table. They seated us. We ordered our beers and some char grilled oysters to start. Our oysters came with uneven char. Leaving one looking like a hockey puck. I ordered 2 pounds of Crawfish with fixings and my boyfriend ordered the catfish platter. His plate came with fries that had been dropped into the fryer still frozen. Cold, soggy in the center. We sent them back. His jambalaya was also inedible. My Crawfish came with regular boil just shaken on top of the crawfish. It made some so salty, others to spicy and others totally bland. The crawfish were also soggy, hard to peal, and just not very good. I didn't eat my potatoes or my corn because it was just coated in regular uncooked boil. My boyfriends salad hame out after our meal and ONLY because we asked for it. We had another beer. Watched the Celtics Pelicans game, and left. The beer was the best part of that meal. Everything was frozen except the oysters. You could taste the difference as well as the texture issue. I WON'T EVER GO AGAIN. Especially for 80 something dollars after tip.
(1)Brett S.
Charbroiled oysters were the best I have ever had. Catfish filet plate was four large filets cut from big 14 oz sides. It was tasty, clean, flaky, and FABULOUS!!! Service was on point and the PORTER was friendlier and more knowledgeable than most servers.
(4)Eddie G.
This place is ok, but they don't know how to course out a meal. Everything comes at one time. There isn't room for everything on the table so you have to begrudgingly let the waiter take dishes that you aren't finished with yet. The stuffed shrimp was just overdone shrimp with a scoop of dressing on top in an escargot pan. Very disappointing. If your going to veer away from a traditional way of preparing a local dish, make sure your way of preparing the dish is an improvement. Also, the last 3 times I have been here they were out of dungeness crab. At a certain point I would consider taking it off the menu. It's just setting people up for disappointment.
(3)Camille P.
I absolutely love jaegers, it's definitely a little down home in temas of ambiance but the seafood does not disappoint! I love the jambalaya so you can just pad on them fries and the drinks ate big and strong and only 7 bucks! Sometimes the waitstaff is a little rough around the she's but the food will make you forget that. Get any of the fried seafood and you will be in a state of pure bliss!
(4)William F.
Went to Jaeger's tonight and order a bowl of seafood gumbo, charred oysters, and a seafood platter. The gumbo was so slimy from the okra that I couldn't even take more than two bites before sending it back where it came from. True Cajun gumbo does not have okra and they sure use it as a filler with the two shrimp in the bowl. The oysters were decent and the seafood platter was average. I feel like a wasted $40 and a night out with my wife over less than average food. I don't think we will be returning to Jaeger's and I suggest you go somewhere else for seafood.
(1)Matt R.
Some of the best crawfish I've ever had, seafood platter was amazing especially the stuffed crab. Service was great as well. My girlfriend & I really really enjoyed everything. We will be back without a question!
(5)Randy G.
Went in the place only had maybe people at eight tables waited for about 15 minutes and didn't even get asked about a drink order the service is really bad told the manager and he acted like he didn't care they will not get my business anymore!!
(1)Arverne G.
Great, delicious fried goodness. Low prices, lots of food. Very fresh. Down and dirty ambience, with great music. You would never guess from the outside, which is on a very busy street, how funk-a-licious this place is.
(4)Sylvio D.
I used to frequently visit their location at the lakefront but had never been to this location until yesterday. Manage your expectations people! This is never going to be a 5 star restaurant nor do they intend to be one. It's a "neighborhood" seafood place, that's it! So all we got were boiled crawfish and they were above average but not the best I've ever had. We also ordered the chargrilled oysters and they were great. Not as good as Drago's but better than Acme Oyster House. That's it! Keep it simple and you'll be fine!
(3)Danon H.
This place isn't too far from where I live. I decided to check it out. I am certainly glad that I did! When I came in I was greeted by a very friendly host. I decided that since it was just me that it would be a good idea to sit at the bar. Both of the bartenders behind the bar were incredibly friendly and very attentive to my needs. So yes I was definitely pleased with the customer service here. When I ordered the food I decided to try the fried shrimp/stuffed crab combo platter. I could tell that the shrimp was fresh because it was so good! The stuffed crab was to die for! The french fries were not that great. The salad was good, but it could have used more veggies in my opinion. I didn't get to try the bread or the rice that came with this platter because I was full at that point. Believe it or not seafood goes great with Abita amber. The decor here was a typical New Orleans sports bar. If you can get past the tacky stuffed animals its not bad. They had a lot of oldies music playing. I was more busy watching the game though. In short this is a great place to grab some seafood, watch the game and have a few beers while your at it.

Mediocre at best, and do yourself a favor & don't fall for that lobster special mid week. They just give you a boiled lobster (I even had to ask for a cracker thing) without giving you any help deshelling it (they can't just chop the tail in half first? Seriously? They have big knives and cutting boards in the kitchen!). No bib or big safety sheet to wear (it's juicy, very juicy) and not even wet wipes for after. You have to ask for extra napkins and hope you can open the bathroom door to wash your hands. That's just poor, lousy customer consideration. Unless you're some master lobster de-sheller, order something that won't leave your clothes stained and fingers burning. Everything else is the same. Slowest staff ever and don't expect any needs to be anticipated or addressed before you ask. Part of the problem is they sit a lot of people in the way-back with multiple staff, none of whom make frequent rounds. You may find yourself having to call the restaurant from the back for anything before you see them again, so be sure to make note of the telephone number. The thing that blows my mind is this place has consistently received the same complaints and nothing ever changes. Service is so slow, you'll sober up from your one beer before you can get another, so save yourself the trouble and just get a big iced tea. You could also order a big ol' coke and bring your own fifth of Captain Morgan and stick to self-serve. Then your waitress can relax somewhere in the back.

Is this place closed? I want on 7/2 when I got into NOLA for a long weekend and wanted the "$9.99 1.25lb Lobster Special" to find the parking lot empty and the lights out. No note or the door or anything. Tried calling to see if they were open tonight and if Friday was a temporary thing.... Voicemail box was full... .... Evidently, it is not a temporary thing.

Went there with my neighbors for lobster night. The restaurant wasn't busy, and we had a 9 top. We ordered some drinks. The server came back about 10 minutes later. We ordered some apps. She came back about 15 minutes later to refill our drinks. Since her first come 'round, I had changed my mind about an app and decided I wanted hush puppies to go with my lobster. At this time she decided she would also take our entree orders. Server came back with salads. Two of them were wrong--I'd asked for dressing on the side, and another had the wrong dressing altogether. Server brought out the apps. I was thirsty. No refills until the entrees came out, although my hush puppies were spicy! Lobsters arrived. Pretty chewy, but you can't beat the amount of food we'd gotten for $15. Besides, it was the first whole lobster I'd ever eaten, so I can't compare it to much. I tore the shell off, though. No need for those shell cracker thingys at this table! The food wasn't bad, but the service was terrible for the restaurant to be so dead. Unfortunately, they could only have up to 4 checks per table, and my check was combined with someone else's so I didn't get to express my dissatisfaction with the service through my tip. The server probably just thought we were terrible tippers.

I had a hankering for divey beer and lobster so I checked with Yelp and Jaeger's made good. It wasn't as divey as the reviews or the prices led me to believe and I got my lobster. I sat alone at the bar. It wasn't noisy, I wasn't chatted up by other solo diners (sometimes I'm feeling sociable; tonight I wasn't, so that was a bonus), and I sat nose to nose with a giant TV showing ESPN's replay game of the week (Packers/49ers.) I got my lobster, salad and fixins, plus charbroiled oysters and two NOLA blondes for $35 plus tip. What more could you need? You know what? Nothing. I'm changing my rating from four stars to five. P.S. Wed/Thurs are Lobster Night. A la carte it's $8 (or $8.95?) for a 1 1/4 pounder, $12.95 with potatoes, corn and salad. As much as I liked the oysters, next time I might just get me a twin lobster dinner instead. In any case, I see a lotta lobster in my future.
(5)Christopher W.
Was way better when you could sit out by the lake and eat hot boiled crawfish and watch the boats go by. Now that they are in Harahan its just another run of the mill New Orleans seafood joint. Meh...
(2)Ashley H.
Jaeger's was recommended by a bunch of people. I've been craving crawfish and decided to give it a try. I just really wasn't all that impressed. The crawfish were tiny and it was a lot of work for very little pay off. Also had shrimp, they were better than the crawfish but nothing special. Prices are reasonable. They had an extensive menu with a lot of other options, including oysters. Maybe I'll go back and try something else. I've heard lobster night can be good.
(3)Roger B.
We ate here last Thursday because it was their $12.95 lobster dinner special. No wait. We were seated right away. Good crowd for the middle of the week, but there was always tables available while we were there. First thing the waitress asked us, you here for the lobster? Why Yes! So we ordered. Salad was nothing fancy. Good size lobster (I believe the ads claim 1 1/4 lb). Boiled potatoes were so-so, but I'm not a fan of little red boiled potatoes. Corn on the cob was mushy, liked they had left them sitting in the boiling water to keep hot; last time they were crisp and just right. Luck of the draw, I guess. All in all, a decent meal. We'll be, as lobster is a favorite at our house.
(3)Peter K.
The lobster special is great! The lobster was seasoned better then any other restaurant I've eaten at. Its not a fancy place and the service was aiight, but the lobster was pretty good. I believe the address is 901 S. Clearview Pkwy, Metairie, LA 70121 504-818-2200
(3)Elonide S.
I only ate one thing - the charbroiled oysters. They were perfect. With a glass of wine, my night was complete.
(5)Kevin H.
I went here after being largely disappointed that the nearby fishmarket didnt cook anything, simply sold it fresh. So I hungrily drove until I found this fish house. Dark and eclectic It was like red lobster meets applebees. I started with an order of crawfish.. and chargrilled oysters ...first time on the oysters, I really think they should be fried hard everytime. Just couldnt get around the chewiness. The crawfish were cooked well, not too rubbery. I had a platter that consisted of stuffed crab, shrimp and catfish . I thought the thin catfish and shrimp were beautifully battered and not overly greasy. But I just didnt like the stuffed crab. I think you should stuff a crab with crab ....lots of it, or maybe something else that is seafood related. I dont like my hushpuppies crammed into crab shells. But the beignets were marvelous.
(3)Katie T.
Yuck!!, Not my cup of tea as far as a dining experience goes. I know people love this place. Man I really miss the old one on the lake. That place was so fun. The food is just not that good. And since they used to have such a cool atmosphere on the lake, I just can't even make any excuses for why this location is good. It's kind of pricey for what it is, I know my dad loves the crawfish deal, but that's probably all the place has going for them. Everything fried tastes the same, I had a salad and the lettuce was obviously from a bag and the tomatoes weren't ripe. To go to Jaeger's was not my choice by the way, I was meeting some friends there who were eating crawfish. Will not go back there again.
(1)Peggy B.
Had dinner here when my husband refused to wait an hour for a table at our first choice. We were seated right away. Turns out they were running their lobster $12.95 special that night. I ordered it. It was good - I would return for it. Boiled potatoes were ok, can't believe they could ruin something so simple, but they were overcooked. Husband had the shrimp & fish platter. He was satified with them, but the fries left a lot to be desired. Bread pudding ok, nothing to rave about.
(3)Jen L.
Jaeger's was an institution on the lakefront until Katrina. And I've always thought it was OK. The advantage to the Lakefront location was that you ordered & paid at the counter and then a server brought your food. This was ideal for large groups (no bill politics at the end). The new location on Clearview is a basic NOLA seafood restaurant, lots of boiled (in season) and fried. Good but not great.
(3)Pamela A.
The only reason this place is getting one star is because I feel charitable. Let's start at the beginning. Walk in two hours before closing, no hostess. Two servers were staring at us for five minutes, then the hostess shows up. Apparently, she was one of the few people actually working, which is why she took so long. Okay no biggie. I get it. You're surrounded by lazy people, gotta do double time. We're seated. No waiter! Ten minutes before anyone approaches us. I know the length of time because I checked in as soon as we sat down. The waiter had no idea what was on the menu, how anything was prepared, or what came with what. I figured he was new, so I asked him how long he'd been working there. He said for "a while". After asking about the portion size I ordered the Cajun pasta appetizer, my husband ordered the redfish plate and a dozen charbroiled oysters. The food comes and I ended with a tiny bowl of pasta and my husband with a salad. No oysters. The redfish was greasy. It looked disgusting. My pasta was well seasoned but I should have stuck with the regular portion. Better to have leftovers than leave hungry. Our waiter disappeared for the remainder of the meal. Anytime we needed something we had to ask the hostess. I felt so bad for her. She was running around while three of the waiters hung around the char grill lamenting over their lack of tips. Really?! Where is the manager, you say? She was walking around talking on her Bluetooth. We spent two hours for bad food and bad service and we left hungry. This was our third visit and each time it was worse then the last. I'd rather spend a bit more and hit Drago's where the service is always top notch and the food is consistent.
(1)William R.
It's a good place to eat during crawfish season the rest of the menu is not bad but not great either although the do have the best breadpudding in metairie.the lobster special isn't bad either
(3)Tamara M.
Back after almost three years. We had wonderful food memories of the char-grill oysters here. This time we did a repeat on those, plus some gumbo and jambalaya. The oysters were just as good as we remembered, and, though it might seem gluttonous, we ordered an additional dozen right after we'd finished the first. Plan accordingly if you have a meeting or something in the morning, as these oysters have a TON of delicious garlic all over them. The char is perfect, and scooping around with some bread enables you to get all that goodness out of the shell and off the tray...yes, seriously. The gumbo was very good. The jambalaya was just okay...not bad, but not spectacular. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices are average for this type of sit-down joint in the Metarie area. There's plenty of parking, even for a bigger vehicle.
(4)Jerry G.
Went there on Sunday the old man that sat us was so rude the waitress was hopping and barely came around I ordered a burger po boy ad was told they had no ground meat so I ate a salad, the restaurant wasn't very clean bathrooms very in poor condition, had to ask anther server to get ur server to come back ant the prices are very high!!
(1)Calvin M.
Just another local chain restaurant. Nothing special about this place. Here's what we had: Seafood gumbo ($8)- Great gumbo. I ordered the bowl and it came with decent portions. The rue was thick and well spiced. It came with a piece of toasted french bread. I'd come back just for that. Cheese Fries ($5)- Nothing special. But for that price and the portions they gave, it was worth it. Catfish Plate ($11)- Totally not worth it. They gave two thin fillets, some stale fries, and a scoop on jambalaya that tasted like Zatarain instant. I'd come back for the gumbo. As for the other stuff, probably take a pass on it.
(3)Dustin S.
It was good....went on a sunday afternoon for lunch....Had the Charbroiled oysters...tasty...but no Drago's...but for the price not a bad deal...catfish was good...hush puppies..where really good!!....lady that helped us was really friendly and ontop of things....overall good....great selection of beer and liquor...big place...may get jumping on the nights and weekend nights.

We went to Jaeger's for dinner because several of our preferred venues were either closed or unreachable due to our inability to get across carnival parade routes. It was still quite an excursion via interstate to circumvent the hoopla of the Bacchus Parade. Upon being seated, we wasted no time and ordered everything at once, including beverages, appetizers and dinner items. We both ordered an Abita Amber draft beer and shared a dozen char-grilled oysters. The restaurant runs a daily promotion of char-grilled and raw oysters, but in one dozen increments. Consequently, Ann compromised and went along with the char-grilled oysters, even though she preferred raw oysters, but neither of us were prepared to eat a full dozen oysters. We also decided to share a Seafood Platter and since I wanted the seafood grilled, our waitress advised us that a $2 upcharge would be applied. We also ordered an extra House Salad since the Seafood Platter only included one House Salad. The char-grilled oysters were edible but not as good as we would have liked. The abundance of the garlic butter sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the oysters. The one guy shucking oysters was kept really busy and that's probably the reason there were bits of oyster shell fragments which we had to negotiate, and using the french bread to sop up the garlic butter sauce often meant encountering oyster shell fragments. Each of us had a small grilled catfish filet, a Hush Puppy, some Crabmeat Stuffing, a few grilled shrimp and grilled oysters. Ann prefers fried seafood, so she was dissatisfied with the size of the grilled oyster, even as I tried to console her by explaining that the batter used to fry oysters tends to make them look larger. Ann enjoyed the Jambalaya, while I ate the french fries, which seemed as though they had been added to the platter, just when the platter left the kitchen. I'll probably be back but only in a pinch since this place is quite a ways for me to travel for food I can find a lot closer.
(3)Kris A.
Best place to go for boiled seafood. Their charbroiled oysters are pretty close to Dragos but I noticed they raised the prices. They do offer specials certain days of the week on their oysters, lobster and crayfish(when in season) Bread pudding is different but good-ask for extra sauce on the side. Ample parking and seating, I have only had to wait a few times and it wasnt for long. Service is usually attentive and friendly. I find their fried foods to lack freshness. They also use cheap, off brand products like ketchup and soft drinks. They use RC cola-where do they order it from???
(4)Danny H.
short but sweet....Char Grilled Oysters, Grilled Mahi Mahi & hush puppies! you're welcome
(5)Shannon S.
This place was cool when it was on the lake and this new location doesn't give anywhere close to the ambiance the old spot had. The food has always been inconsistent and generally you need to stick to either the fried or boiled seafood. There are far better places to eat for the money but if you find yourself in Elmwood and craving seafood this is one of the few options in that area.
(3)Talmadge M.
This place was recommended by the hotel clerks. I'm so glad of the recommendation. Only drawback; if you want to call it that--I was not expecting my plate to provide enough food to feed two. Yes, the portions are huge! I had the regular catfish platter and when it came out, I looked at it and told the waitress that I ordered the regular plate. Her response was "this is the regular plate". Even before receiving my entree, I was given a huge salad. In all, the food was pretty good. The seafood gumbo was very good, but it could have been served a lot hotter. It was slightly warm, at most. I prefer my soups to be served hot. Other than slightly warm gumbo, everything else was very good. My wife's catfish/shrimp platter was good as well. The plate had at least 10 jumbo fried shrimp and two large catfish fillets. I will go back to place for sure!
(4)Eddie C.
This is my go to place for chargrilled oysters. I think they are actually better than Dragos, and certainly cheaper. Seriously they are that good! I haven't had any issues with service here, always pretty fast and friendly considering it was during Lent. Which if you go anywhere for seafood only during Lent, your asking to get kicked in the balls anyways, so don't be surprised if things get slow. I have eaten at the bar a few times and that is a lot faster and easy too. Blue Moon on tap...yum! Did I mention the chargrilled oysters are the shizzle?
(4)Bryan S.
Seafood platter is great and I recommend the Lobster Specials if you are there on the right day.. Prices reasonable, were seated and served fast. Giving it three stars because they could use a renovation to upgrade the place.
(3)kristin m.
We went on Valentine's Day and I was pleasantly surprised with both the food and service!!! The charbroiled oysters were delicious - better than the ones at Draggos we had the day before!! The gumbo was excellent - huge bowl. Fried shrimp and oysters were also great! Service was really good - definitely impressed with this place and will definitely make it a must visit on our stops in New Orleans!!
(5)Amy H.
Stuffed eggplant and lobster special (which is reasonably priced on certain nights) were delicious! We had a large table and sampled around - Everything else was so so if you know good seafood.
(3)Elton T.
I used to eat at Jaeger's when it was along the lakefront before Katrina, and this new location matches the experience. I always like the casual, friendly atmosphere-- everyone is cordial and attentive for the most part. I like to sit in the bar area, where the waitress/bartender remembers me even after a month or two since my last visit. The best thing here are the boiled seafood deals on Wed. & Thurs., which I frequent regularly. During crawfish season, they do great boiled crawfish for $1.99/lb., and much of the rest of the year they do an $8.99 boiled lobster deal. Add some sides of corn and potatoes, and a draft beer, and it's hard to do much better for an inexpensive, casual, mid-week dinner.

Charbroiled oysters are ok, not better than dragos or superior seafood. The service was great and the crawfish were

Slow service. Everyone in the place got their food before us due to some "mix up." My white beans and shrimp arrived cold/luke warm. The rice and sausage dish had obviously been frozen\reheated so many times the sausage was now chalk-like. The catfish was good and arrived hot. It is clear the fries on my wife's plate were done first so they were like cardboard. Nothing was spicey or interesting. Pricey, slow, and bad microwaved food. Clearly the "mix up" was that I ordered something that had to be microwave defrosted before it was reheated and their cook doesn't know how to stage his slop management. I guess including 3 bay leaves in the beans counts as "spice." This probably is more the process of it being the bottom of the tub of pre-made crap in the walk-in. My wife's gumbo tasted like it came from a can. Find some chiles or cayenne, Chef.

Supposin' you get a craving for Drago's. Supposin' also that you don't feel like waiting 40 minutes for a table. Or fighting for parking in a puddle-filled grass lot in Fat City. Or taking out a loan for dinner. Come here for basically the same damn oysters and lobster -- at half the price and without the crowd. We strolled in 20 minutes to closing and my companions decided to order off-menu. "Can you take one o' dem softshell crabs, make a poboy wit' dat, and throw some fries in, dawlin'?" They did. The seafood dinners are easily good for two. The lobsters are on the small side, but cheap. And the oysters were bigger, better and cleaner than Acme's. The gumbo might fly in California, but was almost unfit for consumption in South Louisiana. P.S. This ain't no first date joint. Here's a good barometer: When you've reached the point when it's OK to fart in front of your new female, then you can take her to Jaeger's, brah.

Went there for lunch yesterday and it was dee-licious and the lunch specials are quite the value. I got the stuffed eggplant (stuffed with shrimp, crab meat and ham) wow!! This came with salad, french fries, jambalaya with the entree and yummy french bread - for $9.95! I'm eating my leftovers right now as I write...and the eggplant is just as good the next day. My husband got the po-boy special: 12 inch shrimp po-boy, potato salad and a cup of gumbo for $9.95. Gumbo was spicy and tasty, shrimp were lightly battered and gigantic, and the potato salad was good too. Try it again, especially for lunch - I don't think you'll be sorry.

Service was good, but food had problems. The charbroiled oyster were not bad, even better than most. The fried shrimp and French fries were good. A seared tuna steak while a nice cut of meat was well done. The crawfish were too sally to eat and had to be sent back and the crab on the platter was bad (spoiled?). The portions were good, the prices were ok and the atmosphere was okay. The food definitely need work.

I come here for the chargrilled oysters. Its up to par with Dragos oysters! Must try... Also some nights they have lobster specials for like 13 bucks. This has always been a choice when we didn't want to go deal with the crowd at Dragos.

I loved this place. I lived in NOLA for three years and would go here all the time. I only ate ate the new post-Katrina location in Harahan. I found the food to be awesome. I've had raw oysters and cheese fries. The oysters were clean tasting, large, and beautiful. Usually I don't get such a great taste from large oysters. Also some friends sitting with me had the crawfish. There were no complaints. TRY THE STUFFED MUSHROOMS!! They are beautiful mushroom caps stuffed with cheese and crab. Some of the best I've had. Another love of mine, MY FAVORITE!, are the char-grilled oysters. I love them better than the ones I had at Drago's and Acme Oyster House. The taste is clean, just the right amount of cheese, and a little salt to bring out the flavor. I think they put olive oil on these, but Drago's uses butter. I usually dip my large hunk of bread in the pooled olive oil. TASTY! Definitely give this place a try. I think char-grilled oysters are marked down on Wednesday nights, I think they are 69 cents. It's either Monday or Thursday where they also have a deal on crawfish. So worth it! Give this place a try.
