Decent sushi place in a Metairie strip mall on Airline. They offer some affordable lunch specials and the rolls are decently sized. The ambiance is a bit on the basic side but it is clean. It's right next to Rouse's so you can grab a meal before making groceries. Probably not one of my top spots for sushi but one of my friends lives nearby and loves it.

Everything was wonderful. We had noodles, fried rice, and 5 different sushi rolls all very delicious. Service was also great. Couldn't ask for a better experience. We will go back again!!

As I was traveling from point A to point B, I realized that I was starving so I decided to take a chance on this strip mall sushi joint. The space is small and very basic. The staff was really nice and accommodating. I ordered my rolls to go and so didn't really use table service.... The rolls were fine if basic. Everything tasted good...but I did my usual and declined the sauces on top. I hate gooey sauces on top of rolls. I think this makes me an unAmerican sushi eater. I had a couple of rolls...and they were good so there's that. Next time I might try the sushi. I do like that they have online ordering...not that I tried it since y'know, driving. But it doesn't seem to be the whole menu.

Since new owners have take over its very slow- 40 minutes for take out when they said 10-15

This place was terrible! I usually don't eat sushi at all, the only reason I went here is because the girl I was with thought it would be a good idea to go. Ugh just thinking about this place makes me shake my freaking head in disappointment. The waiter we had wasn't very friendly. I felt like we were tolerated the whole time there. The food wasn't that great either. The soup was okay and so were the noodles. the sushi on the other hand was awful. It wasn't very fresh, tasted really old to me. Old girl had no complaints at first, A couple of days later she told me that she got sick off of her food. I didn't have that problem but I guess I was lucky. But still I feel that eating here is almost like playing a game of Russian roulette. In short your better off eating what comes out of a dogs hind end than what they serve in this place!!!!

After my last experience I was reluctant to revisit Unagi but I'm usually willing to give a place another chance. Sadly, I was disappointed again. I ordered a chirashi lunch and some wasabi tobeiko. Despite the restaurant not being very full or busy it still took way to long for my order to come up. The tobeiko had a horrible fish taste, strong enough to overpower the wasabi infusion. The chirashi was ok, but not impressive. The cuts and rice could have been better and higher quality. I'd rate Unagi tow stars if it wasn't so horribly slow to bring out disappointing food.

Whoah!!! Do you want the good news first or the bad news first? OK, I'll start with the good news: the service was pretty quick, and it was overall about $10 cheaper than what I usually spend on something similar. The bad news is that the fish smelled, not just briny, but "off." The unmistakeable odor that activates some vestigial brain function that protects the organism from poisoning itself. My boyfriend has the uncanny ability to ignore this ancestral sense, and apparently balls of steel, too, because he took a chance and wound up with bad diarrhea. I ordered the beef tataki and it, unfortunately, also had the unsavory smell of the fish. Maybe it was from a sea-cow? We ordered take-out and were running late to see a play, so we decided not to turn around and get our money back. Masticators beware: Not worth the $10 we saved.

Surprisingly good. Honestly I had low expectations going in but I dont have a negative word to say. Their lunch special for 7.99 is a generous portion. I ordered the "unforgettable roll" and it was very good! The noodle salad was really good too! Its my new fav place when I cant get out to Rock n Sake!

While the tea was ok, the seafood soba was the worst I've ever seen. Nothing but oddly shaped leftover bits of the raw fish they use to make sushi and sashimi. It had a bad (real old fish) smell. It had only one shrimp and several really mushy clam strips...and again with the fake frigging krab! Seriously people...STOP SELLING FAKE KRAB as crabmeat. Being in New Orleans, you have NO EXCUSE to sell KRAB while labeling it crab. The broth was salty but still bland...FYI, tuna heated up in water turns into something too similar to tunafish from a can...No thanks. They were good enough to take it off my bill but I can't imagine going back. Between the higher than usual prices and the horrible, horrible soup, I just can't imagine it.

Good friendly place to stop for lunch in Old Metairie area. Their rolls are huge, i like the unforgettable rolls. The price is very reasonable compares the other places.

Love this place. Service is great, they are quick, can't beat the price and most importantly the sushi is good.

If you are just looking for good Sushi and not looking for all the foofoo, give Unagi a try. I love their unforgettable Roll and their Cucumber Roll. The Cucumber Roll does not contain rice. This is a plain-jane restaurant that serves good food and located in a strip center anchored by a Rouses store. It is a totally safe neighborhood. I frequently pass up a local Sushi restaurant 5 blocks from my house and drive the 7 minutes to take out at Unagi.

Unagi is a solid choice for sushi in the Old Metairie area. I stopped in here with my wife the other night and even though we were the only patrons in the place, we very much enjoyed the sushi. I grabbed a to-go menu and plan on ordering lots of takeout from here in the future! BOTTOM LINE: Good sushi.

My boyfriend were around the area, so we decided to give this place a try. The decor of the place was not so great, but we didn't want to give judgements base on the decor. The menu was very similar to this other sushi place we often go to, Kyoto II, so we decided to ordered some sushi rolls, Yakisoba, and baked green mussels. All of our food was just ok nothing special at all! The rice seemed soaked in vinegar because it was extremely sticky. The Yakisoba was bland. The mussels were baked with tons of spicy mayo sauce on top and no smelt roe. The only reason why I gave it a 2 star is because our waiter was nice and attentive. Other than that, I would not come back for seconds.

Tried this place for the first time today and was very impressed. I had the Rock and Roll and the Desiree Roll. The Desiree Roll was deep fried which is something I've never had before. Both rolls were presented beautifully and had great taste. Both were extremely fresh tasting. Actually fresher than anything I've had at other sushi restaurants. The rolls were a very nice size and reasonably priced at $7.95 each. It was not very crowded for 12:30 on a Tuesday, but I'm guessing the word has not gotten out about this place yet. I will definetely be returning here.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped in for a weekday lunch. This small, unexciting-looking place next to Rouse's has good food, very fast service and reasonable prices. The dressing on the lagniappe portion of noodle salad actually tasted like something (sesame). The miso soup that came with the 2-roll lunch special for $7.99 also had more taste than at some places. The small salad was just lettuce and the usual orange dressing, but was fresh. Not wanting to risk anything fancy, I had a tuna roll and an avocado/salmon roll. Both were good and fresh and had 8 (skinny) pieces. It was more than I actually needed for lunch.

My son started going there with friends about a year ago. He always stated how good it was. I started going with him and found out that it is great. The lobster roll and Steve roll are really good. They start with the noodle salad which is awesome and followed by the special egg rolls that are made in house. The grilled squid state is also a winner. Don't judge the location in a strip mall because the sushi is top notch and Leon, the sushi chef and owner, is a top notch sushi chef!

Treated like royalty every time we go in! EXCELLENT freshness!!!! Definetly sit at the bar for a one on one experience with the chef :-)
