Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Our bartenders name is Karen and she is expert at her craft and has an amazing personality. Can't say enough about how much a great bar tender sets the atmosphere. Great drinks, music and food.

While the burgers are good the place is really a local bar. As such it doesn't have to comply with the 'No Smoking in Restaurants' law. So,if you want to have a "free" smoke with your meal Oscar's is the place for you.

Oscar's is a great neighborhood bar located in historic Old Metairie. It's a local crowd, with the exception of Marilyn Monroe. There are about 200 pictures of the star posted throughout the bar, clearly defining a theme for the old joint. In addition to your usual bar maids and cocktails, Oscar's has some pretty good food. In fact, they have a real hidden secret here in New Orleans... they make a burger and baked potato that is on par with what you would get at world famous Port-of-Call. In fact... sometimes, I have to say that I like Oscar's version better. The burger is giant and juicy and you even get the POC famous sautéed mushrooms on the potato. It's so good... Also worth mentioning is Oscar's weekly steak night. In the $10-15 range, you can dine on a delicious sirloin, baked potato and some good brews. Worth it. BOTTOM LINE: Come to Oscar's for the Port-of-Call esque burgers and loaded potatoes. No long wait, half the price, and just as good or better.

Best burgers in Old Metairie! Oscars is definitely dive bar but it what I like about it. It's a great neighborhood bar.

Oscar's has a decent burger. The flavor is all Worchestershire, but it is more flavorful than other burgers I've had. Its not huge which I appreciate - gives me a chance at eating the whole thing. It comes with shitty ruffle chips, if you want something else there is an up charge. Prices are high. $1.75 for mushrooms on my burger is outrageous. There's nothing special about these shrooms. $1.00 for BBQ sauce... The service was lackluster. The bartender had one foot into retirement and couldnt be bothered with bar converstation. I wouldn't go out of your way to go here, but if you're in the area, its an option.

In regard to the hamburger, best I have ever had. Juicy, seasoned and it's overall tasty. It's not a fancy place, it is a bar with a 1980's feel, but I will be back for the burger. Only thing that is a little annoying are the smokers. There is a bar I. The middle of the room and they can smoke at the bar. Try to get a table on the outskirts if this bothers you. Don't come here if you want fine dining. Come here to grab a burger or another meal and go on your way. Service was great.

This is my little-known burger spot. Not one of the first places that comes to mind when seeking out burgers but that doesn't mean they don't make a bangin' burger. The burgers here are fantastic! Well-seasoned patties that are moist and delicious. The bartenders are friendly and the kitchen is open till 1am on weekends usually. A great place for a burger if in the area.

It was great until I had to go to the bathroom and they refused to put toilet paper in the womens bathroom and when asked wouldn't give me anything....unbelievable...Very unsanitary!!!!! Never come here again..

I come to NOLA/Old Metairie a couple times of year, and I always end up in this place at least once on my trip. They have decent beer prices and selections, a unique setup with one half of the building lit well while the other side is darker, and best of all they have a great burger and baked potato! ***** Also, the place if full of Marilyn Monroe pictures and posters. Can't beat that!

I used to be a regular @ this place. Great burgers....the spinich dip smells like old gym socks though....couldn't eat it. Another great place not far from here is electric cocktail. The crowds can be pleasantly surprising on Friday and Saturday nights..

A definite gem in the heart of Old Metairie :) The bartenders here are very nice and they have one of the best burgers around! They offer a juicy burger that you can get with an enormous baked potato. They also have steak night and I am told that is pretty yummy as well! It isn't usually super-crowded (especially on week nights)-- mostly a 30s and up crowd-- so it's a good place to come and hang out and talk with a friend without having to deal with too much noise. They have dartboards and pool tables and a couple of tvs. I have thrown a couple birthday parties there and they have always been accommodating.

Really good spot in Old Metry. Nice ambiance, nice selection of beers, and staff is always on point. Pool tables or darts. Killer cheeseburgers served with baked potato!

Awesome Burger, but it needs a bit of an update. Maybe a little facelift would bring in more business in the upscale metairie area. It is never crowded, it lacks tv's for sports and it is very dark. It is okay to go and grab a quick drink or get a burger to go, or hit it after you are already 3 sheets and close to home, but not a regular hang out.

I have several friends that live near Oscar's in old Metairie so I end up here more often than I would otherwise. The bar is the center of the space with seating on either side of it. They usually have female bartenders working that give decent to great service. There is usually a mix of all ages earlier in the evening but the later it gets the fewer people remain so this is definitely a place to visit earlier and not later. My main complaint about Oscar's is that they tend to close early by New Orleans standards so I've had many occasions where we've just arrived and they shut the place down 5 minutes later so we have to relocate elsewhere (usually Winston's). Oscar's does make a solid juicy burger (except for the Metairie St. Pat's parade when it is crap) and they have several other good looking things on the menu but over the years I've only eaten the burger so far. The burger is comparable to Port of Calls (but maybe even a bit better with a lower price). Oscars is a decent place to eat and hang out but if I didn't know people in the area I wouldn't have much motivation to visit very often.

I absolutely love Oscars!! Hands down the BEST burger in the New Orleans Metairie area. The burgers here are so juicy and huge. It normally comes with loaded baked potato runs you about 15 dollars but worth it. The drinks are also great here!! You know you are drinking an alcoholic beverage and always get more than a pour. The liquor selection is tremendous!! Not much they don't have here. Oscars is a great place to watch a game, play a game of pool or darts, or just a place to relax. You'll notice pictures of Marilyn Monroe everywhere in this place. Only complaint is that it can get pretty smoky. But other than than, greatly recommended!! (And FYI- in my opinion much better than port-of-call!!)

As a newcomer to New Orleans (I'm from a small town in Illinois), I was looking for a local bar that wasn't a dive & where the patrons weren't, you know, scary. I found Oscar's around Thanksgiving of '09, didn't go in since I was heading to dinner at the time. So glad I decided to pop in once I finally settled here. The drinks are great. They don't skimp on the booze & beverages are reasonably priced. I haven't eaten here yet, but I have to say the best part of Oscar's is the service. Everytime I've gone in the bartenders introduce themselves and take the time to chat a little, even when they're clearly busy. The staff makes me feel as if I've been coming here for years. The decor is all Marilyn, which I love. It gives the bar a classic feel, even if it is a little kitschy. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I haven't sampled the menu. Yet.
