The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. This place is wonderful, I would eat there every day if I could. Extremely friendly people, excellent food, inexpensive prices. Outstanding seafood: broiled or fried, frog legs (yum), and everything is very fresh; flounder, trout, 2 sizes of srhimp or oyster platters, nice seafood platter as a lunch special. Italian: red gravy is "old school New Orleans" or get it as a side, bordelaise. Lunch specials are great; I personally love a place that will give me a 1/2 of a sandwich and a cup of gumbo. Fury's has everything going for it and nothing to complain about.

Off the Beaten Path There's A Treasure Awaits This place has been around for a long time, drawing crowds of people that know good home Louisiana style cooking. It sits off a main highway call Veterans Bulvard, serving a menu of homey Creole & Italian fare in a no-frills interior. ZAGAT listed it as one of the best restaurants in Metairie (2010) and Italian restaurants in the United States (2008). Fury family has been in the restaurant business since 1967, and at its current Metairie location since 1983. I've eaten several items here over the years but my review is on the red snapper covered in crawfish etouffee. They make all their own salad dressing and all of them are very good. Seafood platter is a very good choice as well as the stuffed flounder. In my opinion you can hardly go wrong with anything on the menu and they serve good mixed drinks.

Fury's is going to get four stars from me only because I cannot do 4.5. This restaurant MUST be on your list of places to visit when you are down on this end of Vets. We came to Fury's on a Friday evening after waiting for over an hour for our reservation down the road a bit. There were four in our party, and there were no tables available when we arrived, so we moved past the cash register to the bar area. We had a very short wait-less than fifteen minutes- before a table opened. This is a local joint. You are not coming here for white tablecloth service with back-waiters & crumb scrapers. You come here for delicious food, made right. They are a bit lacking on the appetizer side of the menu. We ordered onion rings & eggplant chips. Both were hot and flavorful, and I am not a fan of battered, homemade onion rings. Most places do not cook them properly to start to "melt" the onions and bring out the sweetness. Fury's does. The eggplant chips are highly recommended. Thin slices of eggplant, breaded & fried and served with red gravy, they get 5 "Yums." Our party ordered the Crawfish Pasta (me), Stuffed Flounder, Chicken Parm, and Trout Carrie (blackened). The only knock on this joint is that the dinner salad is completely uninspired. You are not coming here for the salad, though. My Crawfish Pasta was loaded with crawfish tails in a wonderfully creamy sauce over angel hair. The tails were perfectly cooked, as was the pasta. The serving size is very generous, in the NOLA fashion. The Chicken Parm was a nice, large serving of chicken, thin and perfectly fired with a truly amazing red gravy on top. The same angel hair, this time with red gravy accompanied. The Trout Carrie is a blackened filet topped with jumbo lump crab meat & some light sauce that is so good it must be a sin. Again, everything cooked perfectly. The flounder was also fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Service was prompt & efficient. The table was actually a little small for all the food they brought us, but that speaks more to their quantities than a criticism of the table. There are not a lot of tables in Fury's, and they are tucked into an unimpressive, small building. They were on my list of places to visit for at least 15 years, and now I feel like I punished myself all that time by never crossing the street & walking through the door. Do yourself a favor & visit this little gem.

The food at Fury's Restaurant is absolutely amazing!!! The freshest seafood you will find in the city!!!!! No doubt!!!!! And there is something for everybody here!!! Italian, seafood, and naturally Nawlin's fare!!!! You can get it fried, broiled, grilled, or blackened!! Rich & decadent, or light & healthy!!!! They make their own salad dressings and sauces, and they are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I am also a huge fan of their Eat Fit Nola menu!! Very healthy stuff, that is equally delicious!!! The atmosphere is very family friendly with a welcoming comfy, casual vibe!! And the staff and owners couldn't be any friendlier!!! Do your tastebuds a favor and give this place a try!!! My healthy favorites: (Try the Grilled Trout Carrie- fresh trout grilled with olive oil and a light pepper seasoning, with fresh jumbo lump crab meat on top!!) Comfort food!!! It was a pleasant place to enjoy good food and quiet time. I also felt like their platters were a little pricey. The daily dishes were very good and the price was average considering they used fresh ingredients. Its been awhile since I've been there and it may be another while before I return.

I think I am quickly discovering that Metairie has some really good places for fried seafood. I stopped in here, with my father, for lunch because he was saying how good this place was. It's a pretty small place, but it has been around for over 20 years, so I assume that they know what they are doing. Looking over the menu, they have a little bit of everything, but their speciality is seafood. Because I am a huge fan of oysters, especially the fried variety, I decided on the fried oyster platter, which came with a good sized side salad, fried oysters, thin cut fries and toast. The salad came out immediately, and my only complaint was that the dressing was on it (not on the side) and there was tons of it. Not a big deal- I only ate about half of the salad and I will get dressing on the side next time. Next up was the oyster platter and WHOA- not only were the oysters HUGE but there were tons of them. There were 13 or 14 giant oysters, fried to a light golden brown, on this plate! I was so excited! I cut them in half with my fork, and inside they were nice and juicy and delicious. These might seriously be some of the best fried oysters I have ever had and that's not an exaggeration. I had a ton of leftovers, mainly because I wanted to save some of the amazingness for dinner. My dad got the Trout Carrie which was grilled trout topped with a TON of crab meat with mashed potatoes and peas on the side. I was able to take a taste of the mashed potatoes and they were delicious. Jessica was our server and she was super sweet and attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. I will definitely go back to Fury's and I can't wait for more of those oysters.

Love Fury's. It is one of the only restaurants around that still offer a whole stuffed flounder. It is your typical New Orleans style family run restaurant. They serve italian, seafood and fried chicken! All that we tried including the fried eggplant, veal parmesan, gumbo, and fried chicken were great. The red gravy is not too sweet, not too acidic. My wife liked it. The gumbo had a great flavor but I wish the roux was a bit darker. Fried chicken was cooked right. The breast was not dry...skin had a light crispy crust and was properly salted. Give Fury's a try. Its not fancy inside, had an older crowd, and was not loud. Service was prompt and friendly. The price is right too.

Everyone on the menu is amazing. Can't go wrong here. Simple New Orleans comfort food done to perfection. You will feel like you are sitting in your grandmas kitchen here. Go if you haven't been!!! No ambiance but food and staff will make up for that!

The place is awkwardly quiet. No background music at all. I went around 1pm on a Weekday. I was one of two tables. I could hear the conversations of the kitchen workers along with the employees sitting down. They really should've been cleaning the smudged up front window or the dirty ketchup bottle on my table instead of sitting down doing nothing. I ordered a cheeseburger poboy. They don't have cheddar, apparently just American. I saw on the menu that an order of French Fries was $6, so I asked if I could get just a small side of fries with my sandwich, to which I was told "we only have the one size". I refuse to pay $6 for an order of French Fries. Way too many other better places nearby. Probably won't be back or recommend.

First time here. Wish I had found this place sooner. Your typical hole in the wall, with excellent food. This place looks like it's been here forever. Started with the Fried eggplant, then had a side salad and finished with the breaded veal. All fabulous choices. My wife had a shrimp PO-boy and really enjoyed it. We will be back for their Tuesday special of black-eyed peas and rice.

So I dined here because a friend of mine posted a pic from there. Food was not the best. Much "older" crowd but quiet. I ordered the grilled trout (came with veggies and "salad"). The "salad" was a small plate of iceberg and a cherry tomato drenched with dressing. The one piece of fish was nothing to write home about, one filet...yes this was $25!!! OK seriously $25 for a piece of trout, veggie and lettuce...my daughter had grilled shrimp salad with iceberg and tomato on a plate for $18.50. WAY over priced for not great food. Won't return for that price.

This place is one of our favorite restaurants - we love it, and go often, especially when we can't think of anywhere we want to go, because they always have something we want. Their seafood gumbo is one of the best in the city, and their fried seafood might be the best in town - it is lightly seasoned and lightly battered, so the true taste of the freshness of the sea creature comes out. Their Italian dishes are great, too. Their every day specials are fantastic, as well - the beans: red, white, butter are plate-lickin' good! Oh, and their house salad dressing rocks. LOVE Fury's. ALSO, if you ever struggle with feeling old, go to Fury's . . . you are pretty much guaranteed to see someone there at least two to three hundred years older than you.

What a disappointment. I was offered a special of trout filets, broiled with butter, and I ordered it. Even though the waitress and the receipt both used the plural for filet, I received only one and the butter wasn't real. It tasted OK but then the check came. I know I should ask the price of a special, but I didn't. $25.00 before the tip for one filet, suprisingly good fries and a "salad" of iceberg lettuce and dressing only. I should have ordered the liver and onions. It was half that price. Like I said, a disappointment.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been going to Fury's with my family. It has become a total tradition to come here for Sundays or for an early dinner on a Friday. Everything is truly made with love at this Family owned restaurant stands out amongst all the others. If you are looking for some Italian dishes -COME HERE! Spaghetti, gravy, meatballs, trout almondine, oyster platters. You can even get a side of pasta with red gravy on top-I dare you to find one better in the city. The Fury family is always there to greet you when you come in. You will end up craving these dishes when you leave.

I first heard about Fury's half a decade ago when I worked for Office Depot across the street. That was during the peak of Hurricane Katrina recovery and often our shifts were long and our breaks a bit short. One of my coworkers said he knew a great spot we could grab a quick bite and we could even walk. Thus began our trips to Fury's. Even when it was packed they would find us a seat at the bar; my coworker knew the bartender. We were treated to a cold beer, fast service, and delicious food. Now I find myself living in Old Metairie and rediscovering places I've been and finding ones I haven't. Saturday evening the girlfriend declared that she wanted Italian and I knew just the place. We got there just as the senior citizen crowd was finishing up their early bird dinner. We were seated, told the specials, our drink orders taken, and left ponder the menu. While the regular entrees are in the $25 range the daily specials are under $15 and just as tasty. I went with the breaded veal and french fries, she ordered the veal Parmesan. Both came with the standard bread and salad. Even with a pretty full dining room the salad came out almost immediately. It was just some iceberg with a cherry tomato or two, but who goes to an Italian restaurant for the salad? Not long after we finished with the lettuce our entrees were out. This service was super fast but never made us feel rushed. The veal was superb. Three cutlets were flattened our nice and thin, breaded and lightly fried, then drizzled with gravy. The french fries were perfect. Her veal parmesan was done equally well, as was the side plate of spaghetti with Sunday gravy. The term "hidden gem" is very over-used, but this certainly qualifies. It's like going to your friend's grandmother's house and having a home cooked meal.

This place has a good menu selection and the food tastes very much like homemade and eating at somebody's grandma's. The crowd tends to be of the older grandparent type as well. I have experienced some really slow service at lunch which isn't a big deal unless you need to get back to work (and I really did at one visit). The red gravy is one of my least favorites in the area and some of the food could have used a bit more spice for my taste. The prices are a little above average on the specials and for some of the non-specials so it can get expensive to eat here but you generally get large portions and most stuff is "homemade." Personally I think the seafood selections and non-Italian dishes are usually the better choice here. They do have a pretty extensive menu with a lot of enticing selections. There are still many things on the menu that I would like to sample (I've heard good thing about the fried chicken but that takes awhile to cook so you have to wait for that). This is a classic old New Orleans style Italian Creole place that you should certainly visit at least once.

Fury's is good and this review is following the only visit I've ever made so I don't have a wealth of experience here. The dining room was small and quiet and the customers were mostly senior citizens the night we went. You don't have to be a genius to figure out why that is though. The menu features mostly seafood and a few Italian dishes. My wife ordered the Trout Amandine, I had the stuffed flounder (available broiled or fried), and my son ordered Crawfish Etoufee' and we started with an order of Shrimp Remoulade. the Etoufee' was great and reminded me of my late grandmother's cooking which is a great thing. The trout amandine was good but I expected a kind of sauce on top but this one was prepared in a more traditional style. My stuffed flounder was huge and prepared in a classical broiled manner which I really enjoyed. The remoulade wasn't the best I've ever had but AGAIN, classically prepared in a style in which I was very familiar with. Overall this was a good experience and I enjoyed the food

Love this place!!! It is such a hidden gem.. if you want really good food, without a whole lot of fuss, easy to get into and out of- this is your place!!! I wish their hours were a little better on the weekends, but this is such a great bargain for the quality of food that you receive.
