This place is very authentic and busy. It's clear that this is a meeting place for people looking for a home cooked reminder of home. They have a Lazy Susan in the middle of every table. It's great family-style dining. It's one of the only true family-style dining places I found a New Orleans.

Kind of a disappointing experience. I guess the quality has gone downhill? I had heard such great stories of years past. We recently ordered take out from here. It's in a cute little place, decorated nicely. We found the prices to be on the steep side. We ordered the China Rose Special Duck and the Chicken and Broccoli lunch special, along with a side of Crab Rangoons. The Duck was unimpressive and very dry. We have had better from elsewhere. The chicken from the chicken and broccoli dish was too tough to chew. The Crab Rangoons were just kind of blah. We usually love having Chinese leftovers for later, but these leftovers were on the unappealing side and ended up in the garbage instead. I would not choose to come back here.

Americanlized Chinese food. I ordered the buns and obviously it's frozen. Although, they have Chinese menu, it's all basic Chinese dishes and it states not so authentic.

Good Chinese food. I've been told that all of the Chinese students at Tulane know this restaurant as the best Chinese restaurant in the city. I thought it was pretty good Chinese food, I don't know if I can really tell the difference (but I'm not Chinese!). I've been told you can order more authentic food, but you have to know what to order. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice, the usual Chinese setup. Even though it's far from my house, I would come here again. They have a lunch menu which is cheaper and a good value. *Update: My Chinese friends say they get a different menu from us non-chinese folk. Not only is it written in Chinese, but it also contains more authentic dishes. Perhaps if you bring a Chinese friend then you too can experience the super secret chinese menu!

China Rose is delicious! Order from the chinese menu, the pork buns were yummy, and the sizzling beef was tasty. Lots of black pepper, but tasty. I ordered the wonton soup from the regular menu, I think it's pretty close to being my favorite wonton soup.

I was skeptical. I just moved down from nyc and this place is in the suburbs behind some strip malls...eh? What can I say? I was being judgmental. But my friends wanted to go here before we went to the movies (more on that soon--Jack and Coke slushie machine!!!) because they heard about the Chinese menu and it being authentic, or at least as authentic as were going to find in these parts. We got to sit at the big round table with the spinning Lazy Susan. Super fun and good for drinking games! We ordered a few Mai Tai's which were wayyyyyyyy too sweet for me, but the saving grace was that they were served in cool ceramic tiki cups. And they were strong. And to eat: all the appetizers were delicious and totally fun to share especially with the help of the spinner. We had scallion pancakes (HUGE portion), fried dumplings, spring rolls...and for dinner everything was served family style and we had more than enough food to share. I don't know about how "authentic" it was but I'm not going to sit around worrying about that. The food was filling and delicious. The service was friendly, which actually was weird coming from nyc where many of the Chinese restaurants the service is gruff (although I like a little attitude sometimes). And when we left the owner saw us out and let us know she appreciated our business. All in all a good experience and a fun place to have a meal with friends before catching a flick out in the 'burbs.

I am not a huge Chinese food fan so perhaps my review is skewed, but I was hugely impressed by what I ate. I had the chicken lo mein and, although I was surprised by the width of the noodles (a little thinner than I usually see), it was very flavorful and there was a ton of chicken in there! My boyfriend had the Mandarin chicken and was very impressed (and he eats Chinese food all of the time). Paid about $30 for 2 people (2 meals, 1 soup, and 2 cokes).

After my review, I received this "compliment" from the business owner: For your review of: China Rose Or maybe you should just go eat from a dumpster since all you ordered was fake garbage designed for fat and poor foreigners. Soooo ordering off the lunch menu is "fake garbage?" Won't even mention the rest of that comment. All I can say is MingYang L, you need to look at the PICTURE of the reviewer before making blanket statements. And speaking from someone whose ethnicity is 100% Chinese, grew up in a traditional Chinese household AND lived in China for over two years, I KNOW the crap you serve isn't authentic. But to know it's described by its owners as "fake garbage...." Seriously, why eat here?? When there are GREAT restaurants (ok, not Chinese in New Orleans) who serve actual food for everyone- and not garbage.

Even though I just ate here over the weekend, I've pretty much convinced myself to call for take-out on my way home tonight from work, just by thinking of what I wanted to write in the review. Order off of the traditional menu, ya-da, ya-da, ya-da. Their noodles are delicious. I try to order something new every time I come here. I'm not super well-versed in what constitutes good traditional Chinese food, but I agree that it's the best I've had in NOLA. Maybe even in the U.S. Not as good as what I had in London's China Town. Take that for what it is. There are so many in-depth reviews, I'm not sure what else I can add. I highly recommend the noodles; they're addictive.

China Rose is my favorite Chinese place! I went to Pei Wei the other day and ordered my regular that I usually get at china Rose. It was so disappointing that I went to China Rose the next day. I love their won ton soup because it has soo much more than dumplings in it! Pieces of shredded pork, green onions, lettuce... You'll always get something tasty and refreshing in every bite. I love their combination fried rice because of it's amazing flavor and mostly for the BEAN SPROUTS! I can't seem to did anywhere else that has bean sprouts in their fried rice. Delicious. Best combination fried rice anywhere. I love their egg rolls because of all of the quality things they put inside. Meat, shrimp, cabbage, carrots. It is such a great combination. Besides all of this, their food is not as greasy as a normal Chinese place. This is my go-to place for Chinese; they know what I'm going to order when I walk in.

When you go here, ask for the traditional Chinese menu in addition to their Americanized version. The Americanized menu has some pictures to sorta guide you through the Chinese menu. I'm not a fan of Americanized Chinese food, so I don't have much the say about it that's positive (that's why I give this place 4 stars). The traditional Chinese food is delicious. It's not as heavy or as salted as the Americanized food. Pro-tip: be sure to tell them any and all food allergies, sensitivities, or preferences. Their food descriptions aren't very good. For example, we asked for a tofu and vegetable dish. Luckily I mentioned vegetarian, because it had some pork in it. We would have missed it otherwise.

The food was disgusting the people said u have to pay for the food even if u do not like it the manager argued that in other restaurants u have to pay for food when u don't like it and I told her I refuse to pay for something I will not eat and then she had an attitude wen taking the plate away the dish with the shrimp and garlic sauce combo was pre made and the sauce tasted sour please just don't waste your money and go here the worst Chinese food ever

Obviously the best thing about going out to eat with Vicky is her awesome company. But another advantage is that when we go to Chinese restaurants, they immediately offer her the traditional menu rather than the American one. We had the seafood and bean curd soup (which may normally have meat in it too but they customized it) and while the texture was really different for me, it was really delicious. The stir fried string bean was addictive. I WANT IT NOW. Seriously, it was green beans in sauce and yet it was so amazing. I think Vicky & I may have been crossing chopsticks to fight for the last few beans. I know we had another dish but I can't remember what. It was a stir fried vegetable and was good but not super memorable. The service was very accommodating about making changes and they were superfast. The space is a bit tired but very clean. Definitely a place I'm gong to be scurrying back to, especially for those green beans.

The food is great, but sadly, if you aren't in a position to drive to their location, you are looking at a $25 minimum for a delivery order. That is far too much to expect a single person who is unable to get to their location due to mobility issues to afford. I will not be ordering from here anymore for this reason. If a ridiculous delivery fee isn't too much for you or if you are able to get to their location, give them a try.

Sliced muttons with scallions was tender and flavorful. Shredded pork with pickle cabbages soup was tasty and big portion. Came back 2nd time. Had the Sliced Pork with Black Fungus. It was so tasty. The soy sauce really enhanced this dish. China Rose Special Duck was OK but it was so inferior compared to the other dish. This is definitely a place for Chinese food whenever I visit NOLA.

disappointing! I used to love this place. but now the service is really bad. The waitress ordered wrong thing and spoke aloud that was our fault. Then they provided us the right thing, but it was the worst thing that i had ever eat. the food was smelly!!!!!!!! I really don't recommend this place.

My wife and I ordered off the Chinese menu. We noticed that the guy before us requested "low sodium". We didn't think about it at the time but when we started eating, our Kung Pao was almost unbearably salty. Besides that it was a little boring tasting. The green beans were decent as was the rice. You might want to request "low sodium" as well and then salt to taste.

I have eaten at China Rose twice so far and each experience was different. The first thing you need to know about this place is the fact that they have two different menus. The first is the one I like to refer to as the "Generic American Stereotype of Chinese Food Menu" and the other one would be the "Traditional I have never tried this dish before Chinese Food Menu". If you do not know from somebody else or don't look Chinese then they will just hand you the regular menu. You will be stuck eating just beef and broccoli or sweet and sour pork instead of discovering the true Chinese dishes. The descriptions of the food is scarce, but be adventurous and try something new! The first time I came here was when I had a craving for Mápó Tòfu. I heard that this place had an excellent one and so I drove one night to order it along with a few other things for my parents; Sweet & Sour Pork and a Combination Fried Rice. I got it to-go on this visit and ate everything at home. The tofu dish was very very good and definitely hit the spot. It was all very tasty and it made me definitely want to come again and eat family style. So on the second time I brought my parents to eat inside the actual restaurant. My mom ordered a seafood dish and my dad got the pork again. I went to the traditional menu again and just picked something that intrigued me, "Chopped Pork in a Hot Garlic Sauce". When it came out it smelt great and the taste was ok too, but there was not enough spiciness to it and a bit too oily. Overall the restaurant is chill inside, a bit too quiet, a huge mirror on the wall that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable, but the workers are nice and the food is a little above average. If you do want to try China Rose then I definitely suggest delivery or takeout along with ordering form the Traditional Menu! Lunchtime has specials and Monday is all day special menu!

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had hands down! Make sure to order from the Chinese menu. The staff is super friendly and it's reasonably priced. We got the pan fried dumplings (house made and fried so they stick together just a bit and you have to break them apart with a spoon, which was pleasantly interesting). The sauce was a sweet sauce, almost like a thin plum sauce. I didn't want to stop eating them. If you go and decide to stick with the American menu, at the very LEAST get the dumplings off the Chinese menu!!' Be warned, if you want something quick these take 20 minutes to prepare. We actually got those after our noodles and chicken. Still totally worth a try. Which brings me to the dan dan noodles and chicken with wild and hot pepper. Both were pretty spicy and very flavorful. The noodles were firm but still really tender and I'm convinced they were house made or at least bought not dry. The chicken also came with thick slices of zucchini in it which took down some of the intensity of the spice. This place is about 15 minutes from my house but I would gladly drive out there instead of ordering delivery anywhere else! I loved it!

LITTLE BIT OF GAMBLING Within the shadow of our Marriott Metairie, we decided on a Chinese lunch before checking into the nearby hotel. As for a first impression, it wasn't a smooth start. The middle aged Chinese lady greeted us and sat us immediately, she carelessly placed the menu upside down. You can take it from there. She rightfully realized her mistake and was exceptionally cordial thereafter. Chinese spoken was exclusively Mandarin. Not sure which menu we were ordering from but the available selections was more than ample. Mu Shu Pork and Spicy Fish seemed to be the most appealing to us. Gladly no fried noodles with red sweet and sour sauce at our table. Lunch arrived in less than ten minutes... huge servings which meant that we might be able to finish our lunch. As it turns out, we were either much hungrier or the food was just that tasty. Let's just say it was both. The mu shu pork ingredients were slightly different than what we're accustomed to, but still delightful. As for the spicy fish fillet, an absolute steal and could exceed or match those served by renowned local Cajun and Creole restaurants. Behind the swing door is a a tiny designated gaming area where patrons waiting for their takeout pop out from nowhere. LoL

went here on friday night for a quick bite after a late night at work. we ordered shrimp and vegetables. the pot of hot tea was good. the entree was also good, but had a surprising taste of curry or cumin in the sauce. since i wasn't expecting it, it didn't taste right at first. however, it was actually pretty good. i still prefer the sauce sans cumin/curry, but the food was good and the price was right. the dish was big enough for me and my friend to share. and i like to eat! haha. anyway, i would return. if you call for delivery, the minimum order is $25.00, FYI.

Hands down the best Chinese I have ever had. The staff is wonderful! My husband got the stir fry shredded beef off the traditional menu, which was spicy and the texture of the fried beef was amazing! Everyone ordered won ton soup which was mediocre, but my hot and sour soup was so good I wanted seconds. I got the crispy duck off the American menu, which was delicious but definitely heavy. We also got the off menu pan fried dumplings, the big puffy some of dumpling was a pleasant surprise! They are super tasty, especially with the two sauces they recommend for it. Spicy and sweet and very yummy. If I still lived in town, I would eat here every week!

I can't believe I waited so long to try China Rose. I don't get to Fat City much anymore though. Since our neighborhood Chinese restaurant closed, we've been looking for a new regular place. We may have found it. The veggies were perfect, not too crispy and not overcooked. The Mandarin chicken was good. The portions are super generous, which is okay if you want to eat the other half the following day. I'll be trying several other tasty-looking items on their menu in the future. Hubby can't stop raving about how glorious the shrimp toast was.

Average not as good as it was at west end. Got the lemon chicken. All white meat and large portion but not crispy. Disappointed. Waitress insisted on putting large portion leftover in small container. ?

Overdosed sodium! They use traditional way to cook their food, which means a lot of sodium and MSG and grease! If you tell them No MSG, they think you are picky and talk about you behind your back! The thing is you can take their attitude, but they can't take yours! If you make them to take they probably will spit in your food. Be aware! It also tells you how about their service! You have to pay once food is served, no matter it is you want or not! No swap dishes! Oh don't let me forget! Their staff are the owner's relatives! If you tell Linda, the owner, how bad her food and service is. She will not correct her staff and improve the food. Her staff are spoiled by her! If you happen to find a fly in your food, they will dig for it in front of you to find out whether you lied or not. One time they lost some customers because of this. The authentic chinese food stinks! I don't know why, that's not suppose to be. I think they don't use fresher ingredients! But after all, if you still don't mind you can go ahead!

China Rose was a favorite of mine pre Katrina and decided to try it with some out of town guests who wanted good Chinese. We were sorely disappointed. We ordered two different Chicken dishes and the chicken was dry and overcooked. The sauces were passable but the veggies were limp and overdone. The amount of food served was astounding but the lack of quality makes it a place I'll forgo from now on...It was embarrassingly poor food.

We ordered lunch at the office from here today. It was good enough. Delivery was VERY fast. My "kung bo chicken" was not really good. And it looked the same as my coworker's chicken and broccoli, aside from additional peanuts. It wasn't spicy it all. The fried rice was mediocre, but better than a lot of fried rice that comes with a lunch special. The eggroll was huge! It was also full of pork and shrimp. Rather tasty, although a bit on the sweet side. I didn't eat much of the above (like a bite or two of rice and chicken) b/c I also ordered the hot and sour soup which was delicious. It only would've been better if I has red chilies to add to it. The consistency of the broth and the texture mushrooms and tofu were perfect. It was also a rather large amount of soup for a small serving at $3. I made my meal out of it and the crunchy wontons/noodles that came with it. My coworker got the wonton soup and didn't like it, but I'll try it with my left overs tomorrow. Also will try ordering from their traditional menu next time instead of the Americanized one.

What do you do when it is one of those lazy days, the weather sucks, it is raining hard and you are hungry? I don't know what you do, but I order Chinese takeout for delivery. I did a little searching and came up with China Rose. I couldn't seem to find a menu, so I called to see if they had one online. The person on the phone kindly gave me their website address which for some odd reason didn't pop up in the search. In any case, I scanned the menu and saw that the first three pages of the menu were pretty typical but the fourth page was listed as the Authentic Chinese Menu. I figured it would probably be best to order off this menu, so I ended up choosing and selecting the China Rose Special Duck. The duck was really good; the meat was tender and the flavor was nice (although I would have liked a little more spice). The only thing I didn't like was that the skin was still attached and I am not a fan of the fatty thick skin of duck (especially when it's not crispy and fried). The American in me wanted to try something off of their regular menu, so I ordered the Combination Fried Rice to go with my meal. It was pretty good for takeout standards and I would have no problem ordering it again. I was not only satisfied with the food but also satisfied with service. Ordering on the phone was easy, the food came pretty fast and the gentleman that brought the food was a surprisingly cherry fellow. China Rose was a saving grace on an otherwise lackluster day.

First time here... Got takeout... Kung Pao chicken and Sesame chicken for my wife. Probably one of the worst chinese places I have ever eaten. The kung Pao chicken was bland and had no taste... The sesame chicken was dry and had that standard sweet taste that chinese buffets usually have on fried food. Never again...

Great local Asian/Chinese food! The service was good, but the menu offerings were even better. I had the General Tso's chicken and the plate was more than adequate. Generous portions, great hours (open early and late), and very conveniently located,

Just got off the phone with the manager Linda. Not the China Rose of Lakeview. Our soups tonight were hot but our meal to be split was less than luke warm. We immediately told the waitress we would take the food and asked for a go box. The waitress took our dish off to the back leaving us with our two servings of plated food in front of us. After micro waving the main dish she bought it back to the table. Were we supposed to mix our now microwaved food with the cold food she left in front of us. We told her just bring the bill cause we were unhappy. She now understands and brings us a go box and charges us for the entire meal. Considering we each had less than two bites of the main dish and did not want food that would now have to be microwaved again another time, we felt we should have been charged just for our teas and soups only. We left the food on the table and the restaurant feeling ripped off......we were not asking for the dish to be taken off the bill and also be allowed for us to take it home. Alas, I see foresee another place that won't be dere no more.

Tho place has very tasty Chinese and great service! I'm used to slow service from any "traditional Chinese" restaurant but the service here was perfect. The egg rolls were great, the chicken in hot garlic sauce was great, and the lo mein was good too, though the noodles were thin rather than thick but still very good. I can't wait to go back!

ChinarosemayIhelpyou? I don't eat a lot of stuff from here, but I keep coming back. I usually just order egg or shrimp fried rice to go for a quick dinner. It could be 1 or 2 meals, depending how hungry you are. Phone orders are quick and painless. Oh yeah, Mondays you can order from the lunch specials all day long.

Went back here and ordered from the traditional menu again. Girly ordered from the American one. We ordered two dishes that seemed similar to each other. The Traditional version was once again waaay better than the Americanized one. Go...but order from the traditional menu. Seriously.

First off, dear Lord has it really been 6 months since I've Yelped? Guess working 3 jobs at once will do that for you... Fortunately the extra cash flow means I can afford the gas to drive to Metairie and eat at China Rose once a week. Win. It's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it's the best you're going to find in New Orleans. There are many dishes that I can't make myself and are impossible to find elsewhere, such as Wu Gen Chang Wan (Pork Intestines with Pickled Vegetables), one of my favorite foods of all time. They do a great stir fried green bean (Gan Bian Si Ji Dou) with ginger and peppers, unlike the nasty mushy ones at 5 Happiness; I love the stirfried eggplant; and they even have Xiao Long Bao, which are hit or miss (sometimes they are steamed too long and the skins break so the soup leaks all out). The prices are moderate to high, although not as high as the other good Chinese restaurants here. When I told my dad it was about $10-12 per dish, he reminded me that in LA, comparable food is $4-6... thanks Pops. All in all, though, here and Hoa Hong are comfort food for Daniel and I and we're not going to stop going by.

I ordered the Appetizer Platter, which includes an egg roll, fried wonton, 2 fried shrimp, 2 shrimp toasts, crab Rangoon & a BBQ rib. All for $6.95 per person. Also, a pot of hot tea for $1.75. For the main course, I ordered General's Chicken ($9.75), extra spicy! As an aside, I noted that a very high percentage of the clientele was of Asian descent. Sends a great message about the authenticity! Relatively good food with great flavors. However, a bit greasy & heavy.

Ordered from here the other night and brought it home. The ladies working were very nice and the couple sitting in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying their meal. We ordered generals chicken, beef lo mien, pot stickers and crab puffs. The generals chicken was a little lacking but, the hot mustard was awesome and totally made up for it when added to the chicken. My beef lo mien was delicious. I really loved it. The pot stickers were fantastic but the sauce for them was not very good. It was too sweet for my taste. The crab puffs were pretty good. We also got some almond cookies which are delicious! We will be going back to try the other things on the menu but, overall I'd say this is a good place.

Wow. I always liked this place, and give it a "high 4", but recently discovered the Chinese menu (yes, I'm late to the party) I will never eat anything off of the "regular" menu again. The only thing I can say is that it's the closest thing my mouth will have to an orgasm.

Went there 8/13/14. Family of 4. We each ordered different dishes from the regular menu. Egg Foo Yung, Mandarin chicken. Boneless Fried Chicken & Vegetables, and Moo Goo Gai Pan. We ordered spring rolls as the dishes came with egg rolls, but no substitution. So we got an order of spring rolls. My Husband liked his Egg Foo Yung and his eggroll. The Spring rolls were really big and actually not too bad. My Boneless fried chicken seemed raw, It was pink. My daughter's moo goo gai pan, The chicken wasn't cleaned well. Neither was mine. It had veins and icky stuff in it. I should have known better when the waitress asked us if we wanted white or dark chicken when we ordered. The dishes my daughter's and I ordered have always traditionally been made with White meat chicken. I have been all around the country and eaten at Chinese places from Los Angeles to West Palm Beach Fl. Always white meat in those dishes. My daughter that ordered Mandarin chicken only ate her steamed rice she took one bite of her eggroll and chicken, She didn't like the Mandarin chicken or eggroll. The eggrolls have shrimp in them. Unfortunately if you break open your eggroll and look at the shrimp inside, you will find most of the shrimp inside have the black waste veins in them. EWWW. Sorry. Just Ewww, it's gross. If my chicken had been cooked and cleaned and if my daughter's chicken in the moo goo gai pan had been cleaned and cut properly. It probably would have been not so bad. To me it was just carelessly thrown together. Honestly most people who want white meat want that because it doesn't have all the veins, fat and gristle. I will say we didn't complain, We paid the bill and tip and left. I'm not one to ever send food back to the kitchen. I'm too paranoid to do that. So we didn't really give them a chance to make it right. Although I'm not sure there was really anything they could have done to make it right.

DUCK! Just OK. Off Chinese menu- enough food to bring home and have for lunch next day! Orange beef not too great- nice flavor but unremarkable(as egg rolls were also) and would not go for return visit. nice enough staff- HOT TEA was inferior. How can that be? I would try other things than what we ordered- Ambiance not quite date-night / more family style. I remember it when it was at lakeview and once got some amazing fish. This is probably not the same family- I do not know.

We had to try this on the recommendation of Yelpers and manfriend's statement that it was really good before the storm (I guess in a different location as others have mentioned??). So, since everyone on Yelp has touted it, we ordered take-out on the Chinese menu. I got the sizzling beef and manfriend picked chicken with garlic sauce. Both dishes smelled amazing to begin with. The sizzling beef is all about the black pepper. Seriously..you better like black pepper if you order it..which I happen to really love so that totally worked for me! The sauce was a brown gelatinous type which turned me off a little, but the flavor and huge pieces of beef, green pepper and onion made up for it. The chicken with garlic sauce has thinly sliced chicken, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, red chilies and green peppers in a thin spicy red sauce. The sauce seemed a little oily for my taste, but had great flavor so all is forgiven. My favorite thing about what we ordered: IT WAS SPICY! Finally, "spicy" Chinese food that was actually spicy when we ate it!! Also, it's a little more expensive than traditional take-out only places, but we literally have enough food to last 3-4 meals (dinner tonight, lunch tomorrow, and one more dinner at least if not more for TWO people each time). That is a pretty freaking good deal in my book. We also ordered crab rangoons..which were huge and their sweet and sour was pretty good--a little less gelatinous than our usual takeout place. Definitely will be ordering from here again and sticking to the Chinese menu!

Went here based on Yelp reviews suggesting it offered real Chinese food rather than a bright-orange General Tso Americanized experience. Found no such thing, despite ordering off the Chinese menu (which has to be specially requested -- and the Americanized menu is a disturbing thing, all sweet-and-sour and General Tso.) We started with scallion pancakes: they were fine, I guess, but basically a mediocre, oversalted and grease-soaked rendition of a very simple dish; I couldn't finish my portion. Then we got mapo tofu, which was served spicy enough and moderately tasty, but still a misfire: the dish was sweetened (WTF?) and unnecessarily goopy with sludge-thick brown sauce, and topped with unappetizing crunchy flecks of dried Szechuan pepper. And eggplant with garlic sauce was bizarrely oversweetened to the point that it tasted like dessert, and again sloppily drowning in gooey brown cornstarch sauce. All these are ultra-simple dishes that are a good test of a Chinese kitchen's ability, and this place gets at best a barely passing grade. I won't be likely to return. The existing Yelp reviews for this place are clearly grading on a severe curve, giving the place a ton of extra credit for being located in a place where no real Chinese food exists. Fine if you like your Chinese food greasy, oversweetened, and gloppy. Not fine if you're expecting anything resembling authentic non-Americanized Chinese food.

Best Chinese restaurant in Nola, it's like a mini Chinatown at this place, so you know the food must be good. Fish with wild and hot peppers is one of my favorites and the pan fried dumplings to due for.

This review may be a bit skewed due to the fact that I have had 3 straight days of Po Boy's. 3 of us were desperate to find something else. This is nice family place that has a pretty decent selection of dishes all at very reasonable prices. Servings are generous and served family style. First off there are two menus. One is like the "NY Chinese Menu" and the other is the "Chinese Menu". I would suggest going with the Chinese Menu - If you aren't familiar with the dishes, ask for guidance. We went a bit crazy on the appetizers The pan fried postickers were very good and were the favorite. The house dumpling sauce, accompanies them well. The other hit were the "pancakes". I can't remember the exact names of the dishes but "Mao's pork" was my favorite. It was made of thick chunks of pork bellies with a dark, sweet and savory sauce. The pork bellies had a nice layers of fat and were tender with enough texture. It's a nicely authentic local place and very casual and friendly.

Food was tasty, but definitely did not scream and shout out in my opinion. The service was good considering the language barrier, but I have to say they got us our meals very quickly. I just wish I could order from the Chinese menu not the American menu!

My favorite place to get chinese food! Informal friendly place. Not sketchy like some small chinese restaurants and certainly more authentic than big chain chinese restaurants. Staff is super friendly. They also have a Chinese menu if you ask for it. Love the Ma Po Tofu!

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

(1)Wendy W.

(5)Vicky L.
(4)Steveanda M.
(1)Jen L.
(4)Gin S.
(2)Fuk Y.
(5)Xiaowen L.
disappointing! I used to love this place. but now the service is really bad. The waitress ordered wrong thing and spoke aloud that was our fault. Then they provided us the right thing, but it was the worst thing that i had ever eat. the food was smelly!!!!!!!! I really don't recommend this place.
(1)Joshua B.

(5)Sharon R.
Average not as good as it was at west end. Got the lemon chicken. All white meat and large portion but not crispy. Disappointed. Waitress insisted on putting large portion leftover in small container. ?
(3)Linda S.
(1)Agnes S.
(2)Ann K.
China Rose has the best and freshest egg rolls -- second to none. The staff will make your visit pleasant with their friendly attitude and smiling faces. Quiet and comfortable dining experience. A great break to a busy day.
(5)Megan M.

Best Chinese in Metairie! Egg drop soup is just as good as oriental triangle and general tso chicken is awesome!

(4)Layne M.
(1)Mathew W.
Great local Asian/Chinese food! The service was good, but the menu offerings were even better. I had the General Tso's chicken and the plate was more than adequate. Generous portions, great hours (open early and late), and very conveniently located,
(4)Chuck H.
(1)Tia M.
It's ok but in my opinion the food is bland no distinct flavors with the various dishes. I'd rather drove to China Doll across the river.
(2)Katelin N.
(4)Tiff D.
Another disappointing Chinese restaurant. The search continues.
(2)Isaac P.
(5)Bobby B.
Went back here and ordered from the traditional menu again. Girly ordered from the American one. We ordered two dishes that seemed similar to each other. The Traditional version was once again waaay better than the Americanized one. Go...but order from the traditional menu. Seriously.
(4)Dorothy Y.
(5)Tamia G.
(3)Catherine B.
(4)Rick S.
Wow. I always liked this place, and give it a "high 4", but recently discovered the Chinese menu (yes, I'm late to the party) I will never eat anything off of the "regular" menu again. The only thing I can say is that it's the closest thing my mouth will have to an orgasm.
(5)t j.
(2)Shanlong Z.
Its good, taste similar to the real Chinese food.
(3)sally g.
DUCK!

I used to be a fan of their location in lakeview on canal blvd and robert e lee before katrina. Not sure what happened but the food quality went south. Similiar to mall chinese food. yuck.
