First off I will say that the service here is terrible. My parents have an annual work party here so they recommended this place. We made a reservation for 8:30 pm and at noon today they called us to change our reservation to 7:30. We didn't mind moving the dinner time up except when we showed up at 7:30 they had "lost" our reservation and made us wait an additional 30 minutes. When I spoke to the manager she was extremely unhelpful. We were seated at 8:00 and didn't receive any bread or service for 30 minutes. The waiter was nice but was spilling water all over our table. From the time we sat down we were not given food for 90 minutes. It was absolutely ridiculous. I only give this place one star because our waiter was apologetic and was trying hard. I am recommending that my parents do not host any more parties here and I will not give them any more business. My experience here was absolutely horrible.

Worst meal in New Orleans. Horrible service. This place looks like the 1970's threw up. Menu is outdated, and overpriced. Bread was stale and took forever to come out. Entree came out wrong, and the new entree was chef boyardee in a bowl for $17. 5 person dinner party and everyone hated their meals. Oh, and she charged the wrong amount to my cc and wouldn't fix it so I could tip her. So instead of having management re-ring my card, she said "just don't tip me." We specifically told her what to put on each card and the rest in cash but she took it upon herself to charge both cards whatever amount she felt like. Run away from this Restaurant!

Went several years ago and will never go back! The food was awful and the price was outrageous! Over $450 for 4 people! Will never go back! And don't ask or complain because they will call the person that was giving the party and I ask them before hand not to do so!!!
My wife and I went for our second time here. We had reservations reserved through round table. That they could not find. They sat us at a table that could barely fit bread and drinks. Their fresh bread was fantastic!! And they poor a healthy glass of wine We ordered appetizers and soup we had bruschetta that was amazing!!! The gumbo and turtle soup was below average. After this we waited for a long time around 30 mins. My wine and water were empty this entire time even asking twice for a refill. The entrees came and were very disappointing. Crabmeat ravioli, very fishy but also very bland. The fish from dover said menieure sauce but was a light white wine sauce. It was not as expected but ok. We voiced are concerns and they tried to fix this by letting us order something else. We tried the cheese ravioli. Which was very good! And the shrimp scampi. Which was terrible. It tasted like bath water with rubber shrimp. My wife was already so embarrassed with the first entree being sent back. I just asked for the check. We also noticed other regulars being helped and served much quicker than us. We dine out often but will not visit here again as there are so many nice places to eat. Pick anything else and you will be happier.

I have never had worse service or seen worse customer service from management. After losing our reservation and lying to us, the manager refused to speak with us and then walked away when we were explaining the situation saying she was "busy." We then had to remind the waiter 3 & 4 times for everything including water and bread. After paying $300 for dinner, we will NEVER be back.

Had reservations for 7:00 and its 7:50 and still not seated. They pushed off the kids reservation so the table that has been here since 4:00 can continue drinking. I will never come back here again. Worst service ever.

Food great, customer service a nightmare. They lost our reservation then sat everyone else before us. Asked for a manager and they would not tell us who she was.

Went for Christmas dinner so had special menu. Food was ok, however service was awful. The waitstaff was not familiar with the menu, our order was not correct. The waiters seemed inexperienced and not professional. For the price the meal cost expected so much more very disappointed.

I went to Andreas for a contractor luncheon and thought that the food was delicious and the servers were very friendly. Their event hosting was spot on, despite the crammed room. I ordered the chicken and spinach soup, with fresh fish appetizer and chocolate mousse for dessert...all very delicious! Their bread is pretty good too. If I ever find myself in the area I would definitely go back and try their full menu items.

So we decided to give the restaurant another try. Upon arrival, We were immediately greeted by the chef himself and seated. This time we had a much better experience. The service was great and the food was delicious. One could definitely tell that Chef Andreas was in the restaurant.

I've been here twice to this established Metairie institution. The first time was for a luncheon and we had a set menu to choose from. I chose their redfish in a lemon sauce with a side of roasted potatoes. Fish was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Same with the potatoes and the haricot verts that accompanied everything. Bread pudding was served. Slightly dry but still pretty good. So I was excited to hear about their anniversary on the local morning show. To celebrate their 30 year anniversary, in January, they had a limited menu of stuff they served when they first opened. It was also going to be their prices during that time too! Needless to say, I was very excited to check this place again. Since my mom's birthday is in January, I decided to take her to lunch there for her birthday dinner. Once we got there, I realized it was a good decision. Most of the patrons were my mom's age (read 60+). Not sure if that was because of the anniversary or if it was because they were their normal clients. Either way, I was hoping the stuff wouldn't be overcooked or bland. It ended up being much worse. We got the shrimp linguine and the mushroom ravioli. Both of us decided to get a couple of salads. My mom's Caesar was drenched in dressing on the 4 romaine leaves that consisted of. My Caprese was very old mozzarella and a very garlicky vinaigrette which was more garlic and oil than anything else. Major disappointment. The entrees were actually not much better. The linguine had a horrible alfredo sauce while my ravioli was 5 raviolis. Sauce was much better than my mom. But I was still very hungry after the server took away my plate. Overall, could not believe the portions, prices and quality of what was served. For an Italian restaurant, I was hoping they would be have great alfredo sauce. Unfortunately, Andrea's proves that's not the case.

Great food, but horrible service. Over an hour before we got food, forgot appetizers. People apologized, gave us free dessert, but really unacceptable. Update: I'm adding a star to my review, in view of the respectful reply from the owner. The food really was excellent, I just wish our experience has been better.

I went with my family for Christmas eve dinner. There were about 15 of us in all and it was nice they were able to seat all of us together and on time for our reservation, which is what the 1 star is for. Things did not go so smoothly after that. The waiter came by to fill water but didn't get our wine glasses and other drinks until about 30-40 minutes in. At this point we had never even gotten our menus and wondered if it was a special menu but we saw other tables get menus. After sitting there 45 minutes we finally asked about menus and the waiter was like "what you don't have menus! let me get them!" Seriously?! So soon after we order our appetizers (after having to call the waiter back over). These take about another 1.5 hours to come out! When we had asked him about the apps as we were waiting he just shrugged unapologetically and blamed it on the kitchen because one of the chefs "walked out on them that day." Never once did he apologize. I get that the kitchen issues were out of his control but it was no excuse for the other issues with the service. We had to keep reminding him of things, such as refilling water, and when he did he would spill it all over the table while pouring. We finally were able to order our entrees. The menu was a shorter menu for Christmas but still had some varied options, but I was disappointed they didn't include a single regular pasta dish on their menu and only included more expensive meat and seafood entrees. The prices also seemed to be raised above their normal prices for the same items. Some prices were pretty high like $10 for a small salad (see picture I'll post). It ended up taking another 1.5 hours to get our entrees, which came at all different times and before our soups and salads for some people and after for others! Another table in the restaurant walked out because their food took so long and they tried to bring us their food! We thought it was ours so they served our party 3 steaks but didn't bring out the rest and didn't realize their error until they had already eaten half and we were wondering where the rest was. Again no apologies. The manager kept walking by and was obviously dealing with other issues but she never once came to our table to try to address our issues. My sister doesn't eat red sauce and tried to order her chicken parm without red sauce and the waiter was really rude to her about this and said they couldn't deviate. He also refused to answer her question of what sides came with the steak. He only finally gave in when she said she would order off the kids menu. So in terms of the food, most of it was rather bland and flavorless, especially the calamari app. The ravioli app was a few small pieces of ravioli drowning in marinara sauce. I ordered the Andrea salad and it was missing the avocado and green onion that was supposed to come in it, and was mostly just lettuce and tomato. My cousin ordered the Caesar which lacked the anchovies and parmesan stated on the menu. My uncle's turtle soup didn't seem to contain any turtle and he described it as "hamburger soup." The steak didn't come with the potato it was supposed to and the venison lacked the polenta. My entree, the Osso Bucco was actually quite good and flavorful, but the side of pasta had obviously been sitting out for some time and was cold and dry and stuck together. One of my cousins had the Cioppino which was NOT a Cioppino at all but a pasta with seafood and red sauce. A Cioppino is supposed to be a soup! I think they tried to repackage the shrimp fra diavlo pasta the other tabled that walked out ordered and just through the other seafood on top and served it to her as Cioppino. My sister's chicken parm she asked for no sauce came out with no sauce or cheese and no pasta (or any other starch side)! The trout didn't taste like trout should and was chewy and hard to eat. The 3 people who ordered trout sent it back but they did not take it off the check. At the end, the server did try to offer free dessert and coffee to make up for the issues, but at that point it was too little too late since we had been there 4 hours and were ready to go, but a couple people did end up ordering dessert and coffee. They actually came around asking us about dessert when most of us were still finishing our entrees, so it felt a bit rushed at this point. The coffee is very good but the desserts were just ok. All in all this dinner took over 4 hours from start to finish. There also isn't much in the way of ambiance. I agree with other reviews on here that it is pretty outdated, old, and has an 80's feel. I think when my uncle spoke to the manager she did finally end up deducting 20% from the check but then they also added on a 20% obligatory gratuity to the check before that deduction even though our service was terrible!

Great service, great food! Our party arrived right at closing time and the gracious waiters still allowed us to dine there. The food came quickly and it was absolutely delicious! The waiters ended up staying there an hour later for us. I would definitely go back and recommend this place anytime!

Sirloin steak is about the best thing on the menu. The chef comes out and greets you that was pretty nice. The food could've been better. Restaurant needs some updating.

From the moment I walked in the door I was immediately confused because the room didn't look set for a lunch group and it took me ten minutes of walking around to finally find a cleaning lady that notified the kitchen that our party had arrived. It was my understanding that Andrea's was a fine dining restaurant in Metairie, however, I did not get that impression by the way the tables were set and the condition of the furniture. When we were seated we sent back a collection of dirty forks, lipstick marked glasses, and a stained napkin before the water was even poured. Shortly after the first course was served we realized that the food quality was slightly above Progresso/ Chef Boyardee, and the actual service was AWFUL! We had ten people at our table and there was a twenty five minute gap in between when the first and tenth person was served, and the tenth person only got their plate because someone at our table reached back and pulled a plate off the tray, prompting everyone at our table to applaud the fact that we could finally eat! About two minutes after our table began eating, the waiter began scraping another table's plates right onto a tray which was about a foot from our table. Finally, it was time for dessert and for the third time our waiter held a tableside food auction since they didn't actually write down who ordered what. I was convinced at this point that the waiter must not have known that this wasn't an acceptable practice, so we were quick to claim our dessert to avoid waiting another 25 minutes! Sadly, these things were just the highlights, and I don't have time to go into the full detail of our experience!

A privately owned Olive Garden quality restaurant with tacky old world Italian style. The food is nothing special but it's not bad. It's just not that great either. Highlights are the copious use of cheese on the lasagna to cover up for a lack of flavor. Fine by me: I like cheese! I really enjoyed the bread pudding and sauce! It was very sweet and custardy but the sauce had no alcohol flavor. The tea was also nice and strong. A full bar is available. I parked on the street. There is a private lot as well.

I'll start off by saying the hostess at the front was very professional and helpful. When we arrived, we were seated in an awkward table that was crowded, in between the servers station and walkway. At first she said she couldn't move us because the only other table was reserved. I was disappointed because it was my mom's birthday and the place was not that busy and there were a lot of open tables. She did come back and move us to our delight and was very sweet. The ambiance is like an old VFW hall. Our wine glasses were dirty. When our appetizer plates came out mine was visibly dirty. The waiter wiped off the old food and handed it to me with lint on the sticky spots. The woman who was seated next to us sent back two of her wine glasses for being dirty too! The food was not the same as described on the menu. My entree was inedible. We ordered crab au gratin which I've had many times being from Nola, it was basically crab in butter not too bad but not Au gratin. I ordered porcini ravioli with sundried tomatoes and a light cream sauce. I got almost frozen meal like ravioli in what tasted like beef bouillon cube melted down. Basically beef stroganoff that tasted terrible. My brother and mom ordered, crab ravioli which was somehow bland and heavy at the same time. Again the ravioli could have been bought from sam's. I would have sent everything back if it had not been a special occasion and didn't want to ruin our lunch. They did give my mom a piece of tiramisu with a candle which was nice. Because of that and the hostess ill give it the only star one star. Everything else was deplorable. SKIP THIS PLACE!

Andreas food is still terrific. Still reflects Chef Andrea's brilliance through freshness and simplicity. Speckled Trout Royale is perfect, eggplant cake with lump crabmeat is a terrific combination. Scampi was done right, not too saucy or heavy, but light and flavorful. Lemon sorbet tasted like fresh lemons (imagine that) not like sugar or a Popsicle as some do. The dining room, however, is ready for an update. Carpet is old and dirty looking. I'm not sure if management has changed in the last couple if years, but the staff seems less seasoned than I remember I had to point out where the some of the items were on the menu. (Waiter said "don't think we have that here, so I showed him). As for the wine list, they were clueless about any of the wines. Chef has built a wonderful reputation over the years, I would hate to see it tarnished due to a few in attentive decisions.

My gf and I wanted to try Andreas for dinner before a movie. The location is a bit awkward getting to, but not too bad, especially with their very tall sign as a reference point. Our server Brandy was cheerful and enthusiastic, but was a bit limited in her ability to make good recommendations. The complimentary bruschetta we were served was very tasty, and the fried calamari we ordered was good but not memorable. The fry breading was nice and light, but I prefer more seasoning without all the saltiness. Our entrees were rigatoni carbonara and veal fettacini alfredo. Both were very good, but the rigatoni dish had been left under a heating lamp too long, congealing the very tasty sauce. Brandy rescued the meal by having the chef make some fresh sauce. Great service recovery. Overall a nice experience. I would go again. **I had leftover rigatoni carbonara for lunch today, and it was even better than last night!!**

This was the worst $700, I've ever spent in my life. Let me say this was for New Year's Eve and things may be better on a regular night. It took nearly 3 hours to be served overall very poor food. The star is primarily for getting us seated at the time of our reservation. The waitstaff appeared overwhelmed and not well trained. It took an hour and a half to get my water glass refilled after asking for additional water on arrival. The waiter who finally obliged put his thumb in my water glass. We also sat for 20 minutes before someone came to ask if we had a server or menus. The eggplant crab cake was swimming in oil. The caprese was good. My tenderloin was an extremely good cut of beef which was totally ruined by the peppercorn sauce which tasted like chicken gravy but without any flavor or detectable seasoning but pepper. The salmon was undercooked and the duck was inedible (literally, you could not get it off the done). I won't be back.

I have no idea why this place has such a bad rating - I had my birthday dinner at Andrea's last night and absolutely LOVED the place. The service was excellent and the food was great! I think if you walk in expecting a cheap place for spaghetti and meatballs, yeah, you'll be disappointed, but if you want a nice Italian dinner, it's perfect. Completely disagree with the negative reviews - try it out for yourself!

We arrived at Andrea's and were immediately greeted at the door by Andrea himself. The maître d wasn't at his station, so we didn't know where to go. Andrea was busy greeting the people arriving after us, so we awkwardly walked to what we thought was the hostess, but was a cashier/secretary maybe? She called over the maître d and they fumbled around for menus. There were three of us dining and they only had 2 menus and no wine list for us. The hostess/cashier/secretary said she would bring us an extra menu and wine list. The maître d directed her to take us to what he said was "the best table". And we did have a nice table in the back corner. After about 5-7 minutes, we were greeted by our waiter, who asked us about drinks. Well, we still didn't get our wine list, so he left to retrieve one for us. Not off to a good start. I ordered an Andrea salad and a pasta dish with clams. My two guests ordered the shrimp linguini and a house salad. Well, the waiter brought me a caprese salad and my pasta at the same time! I didn't realize until I took a bite of my salad that it wasn't what I ordered. The waiter realized it and kindly brought me the Andrea salad. While my pasta sat getting cold, I ate my salad. My two guests got their shrimp linguini (exact same dishes). One dish had 8 shrimp, the other had only 5. Bizarre! My pasta with clams was good but cold. I could have asked to have it reheated, but I was over it at that point. The food didn't make up for the mixed up service. Our waiter was a very nice man, but didn't know anything about the wines on the list or a couple of dishes. We won't be returning to Andreas. We'll stick to Vincent's or Irene's in the Quarter.

Okay first things first. Let's get the only annoying part of my visit out of the way. I don't know much about wine. There I said it. The wine in my house is probably about $5 to $6 a bottle. But my little story has everything to do about not knowing about wine. So my favorite vegan and I had a coupon for Andrea's one of those group coupon discount things one her students gave us. So this made for as good as any reason to make the visit. We get there, get seated, order wine, a nice malbec from Argentina. To which our waiter replies, great but we have this very nice such and such it's a little more. I highly recommend it. Now here's where it gets good. He follows with "I don't know anything about wine but a lot of customers order it." Well yeah if you suggest it. I'm sure it's popular. But we've had this other one, and we'll stick with it, thanks. 5 minutes later. We're out of that one, would you like the suggested one? Really. Really?! Couldn't you have saved me the whole showing me up in front of my date to try and upsell a bottle of wine? You could have used the opportunity to make a wonderful suggestion AFTER you told us you were out of the wine we ordered. Food was great. My favorite vegan was impressed by her pasta dish but apparently it did not have the staying power as leftovers. I had the veal. All of it was wonderful and overall it was a great meal. And for what it's worth the wine was good too.

Andrea's was recommended to us by several people. We made reservations for Christmas Dinner and we were totally disgusted with the Hostess, waiter, and the food. Our dinner was brought out on filthy plates, around and under our food and the bottom of the plates were completely caked in dried on food. Chef Andrea needs lessons from chef Ramsey! Your restaurant is GROSS and filthy including the floor!

In town visiting family during Thanksgiving and instead of doing the whole turkey thing, we went to Andrea's. I like the traditional turkey dinner thing, but this was nice. A little weird, but it was good. We went in with a group of 18 and we are a difficult 18. Our servers did their best to keep up with us and our persnickety-ness, but they were too thinly spread. As a purist, I got the turkey and fixin's and it was good. I give the servers a high score. We are a tough crowd and they kept up with us. The food got good reviews around the table, from my turkey to the trout to the prime rib.

Dined here on 12/31/13. When reservation was made, staff failed to inform us that it was a fixed menu for new years eve and was going to cost 85.00 per person. After dining in New Orleans for four days, this was without question THE WORST food we had. Everything sucked. From the waiter that did not know anything to every dish they offered on the fixed menu. I had the " so-called" 1lb T-bone. This crap T-bone was a thin discount grocery store cheap steak floating in olive oil. My wife's oysters enbrochette tasted like the deck of a shrimp boat - total crap! My brother and sister in laws dessert, tarimisu was a cheap froze cake. Notice that only a few locals from Meteirie try to 5 star this joint! These must be paid post! This chef Andre is either a scamster or got washed away in Katrina and never returned. This place SUCKS !!!! Do not ever go here.

The absolute worst restaurant that I have ever been to. I'm not going to re-write my open table review, but I wish there was a zero star rating. They completely deserve it for the food, the horrible service and the bingo hall style ambience. I, seriously, would have preferred a quarter pounder. Ugh.

One star for the greeting by Chef Andrea! The food was disgusting! If you are interested in paying $30 for a can of Chef Boiardee or $36 for a twelve ounce piece of meat, consisting of 6 ounces fat and 6 ounces of blah, than this is the place for you. Somebody needs to call chef Ramsay, I think he would drop a lot of F bombs in this place!!!

I am shocked that this place doesn't have 5 stars! My husband and I went last fall when we were visiting NOLA and can't wait to go back. The food was excellent - very authentic Italian with a little New Orleans flair. The menu was full of great choices and we all loved our meals. Service was excellent and Andrea came out a few times to talk to us. Prices were very reasonable and got a ton of food for the price. Can't wait to go back!!!

Totally ruined my anniversary dinner! Reservations for 7:30 ... still not seated for 8:10. When questioning the Maitre D he had a horrible attitude, and tried to give us a last minute tiny table. The owner was right there so obviously they don't care about customer satisfaction. Decided I'd rather go to McDonald's in a dress if need be than eat here. Left the place, and will advise others NOT to go.

A friend asked me to go to lunch at Andrea's. I really didn't know much about it. When I saw the reviews, I was a bit hesitant but I had already agreed to go. Upon arriving we were greeted by a friendly hostess. My friend's mother was in a wheelchair and the staff accommodated her quickly. Every staff member in the area smiled and said hello to us. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient. Both my friend and his mother started with a caprese salad (1 large & 1 small). They both enjoyed it but said it was slightly bland. A few drops of balsamic (already on the table) fixed that. My friend had veal Marsala. I tasted it and it was really good. His mother and I shared a Mediterranean Pizza. It was delicious. A 12" pizza with goat cheese, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, shrimp, crab meat, & arugula for $16.50. We had to bring 3 slices home. They both had dessert which I passed on because I was full. They enjoyed dessert. Everyone, including Chef Andrea, thanked us on our way out. I don't know why everyone is so hard on this place. I would definitely eat here again.

We went for a lunch meeting, and I had the fish and I loved it. The service was great, and the chef came and spoke with us twice. I couldn't decide how I wanted the fish prepared. There were three options, so I said surprise me. They served me the fish all three ways. I would definitely go back.

Meeting Venue Review: This is probably the least liked venue of all the meetings I've done. The room smelled musty, the wireless was 1-2 bars, there was no hard wired internet in the room. The people in my meeting all complained about their food. The host of the meeting offered me some kind of appetizer. When I reminded her I couldn't eat it, she said, "Lucky you"...it was some kind of er..bread-crumb soup-like stuff with little black strips (which turned out to be escargot, in theory). Seemed like someone tried to make shake-n-bake into a gravy. Two of the meeting people sent back their entree for being cooked incorrectly. We decided that was the last time we would host an event there. I do know of the last person who wrote about Andrea's and was trolled at her work by someone claiming to be the Chef there. But this is a review site and this is just that; A review.

I recently visited Andrea's for a special event. This is a great location not only to enjoy dinner but to hold your special events. Their is a restaurant and its next to a hall that can sit a good crowd. I actually like this location. Good parking and it a decent location right across from Lakeside Mall, just must make sure to pay attention or you could miss your turn. I had a baked red fish which was yummy and fluffy truly good choice. Simple and well done is the motto.

Walking in, it took a bit to be greeted and seated....and the restaurant had only about 10 people sitting. However, once we sat down, and handed menu's, I knew this was gonna be good. Janie had the Lasagna, which had spinach inside.....very good! I had ravioli with a mushroom sauce and ravioli with veal an maranaria sauce....really good!! Thought I was back in Italy!! Definitely an authentic experience.

Food wasn't as good as I expected. I got the catch of the day (redfish) with lemon glazed capers, and it failed to deliver as good a it looked...aesthetically. However, there was a very very delicious portabella mushroom appetizer topped with goat cheese that made my day. the service and presentation is what awarded this spot 3 stars.

Bar AREA REVIEW: I stopped in one night for a pre drink/app to the main event of the evenings' plans. Big Mistake. VERY cramped seating area with outdated and cluttered decor. SLOW/BAD service. When we didnt receive 1 of our 3 apps she told us she forgot but we wouldnt want it anyway bc the meats sit out all day and are not fresh and then made a scary face :/ Eww When I asked the other bartender about the happy hour I read on the website, she said they(owners) change the rules everyday and wasnt sure what the happy hour was. So therefore there wasnt any specials even though that was my main reason for starting the night early. After we were finished ordering I gave her my credit card to close out so we can leave on time. She never came back with my card and when I found her , there was no sense of urgency even though she knew we had somewhere to be!?! And yep, we were late. We ate the fried calamari and caprese salad and the 4 of us each had a cocktail/wine for $48 before tip.

Andrea's advertises itself as "Northern Italian" to distinguish itself from the largely Southern Sicilian tradition that is prevalent in New Orleans. The advertisement, however, doesn't seem to translate into the actual food as the dishes seem very similar to other NOLA area restaurants. For full disclosure I need to admit I've only eaten here at lunch so dinner could be a different story. The food is good basic Italian and the chef has always been making the rounds in the dining room and has always asked me how my food was (so extra kudos for that). I've always had good service and the food has been consistently good (just not outstanding). If you are in the area and craving some Italian food this is a good place to sample.

I'd give this place 3.5 stars. For three years in a row, my father and I have taken my mother here for Mother's Day. We always make reservations because their Mother's Day special is very popular and is always crowded. This year things didn't go so smoothly. We had to wait a long time and the service was not up to par. Since we only come on special occasions, it's easy for them to be a little off their game. So I try to be as understanding as possible. My mom was really hungry and when she gets like that, she's not as nice and polite. So I had to sit there and hear her tell the manager how bad the service was. And that kind of ruined the mood a little. The food is a little heavy for my taste. But that's just me. Most people like the food here. I also see the owner there every time. He's very nice... and short! Maybe we'll pay him another visit next year for Mother's Day. But that's up to the boss.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to review this place. First of all, all of the bad reviews of this place are mind boggling. When I went, I loved the food, but I haven't been in a few years. I accompanied a friend to his company Christmas party (dinner) that was held here a few years back. My aunt and uncle had frequented this place before Katrina, but I had never had the opportunity to go. Ok, I will say this. The food I had isn't what I would call "authentic" Italian, so I am reviewing this simply from a "here's what I had and liked" standpoint. They served us a small appetizer and salad. I don't remember what it was, but I remember it being good. What I do remember, however, is my entree. I had a delicious filet that was cooked to perfection. I guess I should explain that I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to steak. I like it medium, and some places take that to mean either "well done" or "rare". They don't understand the concept of medium at all. My steak here was cooked perfectly and was delicious. I love the atmosphere at this place and the staff was extremely nice. At the end of the party, Chef Andrea came out and thanked everyone for coming. I would love to go back, I just haven't had the opportunity. I'd love to go back and re-review, if the place isn't up to the same standards that it was. I really am shocked by all of the negative reviews.

VALENTINE BUST Welcome to Andrea's. 1.)The only restaurant which has single handedly destroyed my faith in italian food. 2.)The only thing authentic were the words on the menu. They have succeeded in creating food without a hint of flavor, which leads me to believe there is no chef in the building, and oddly enough have cut cost in regards to the aesthetics because it reminded me of a cheap outdated reception hall. After experiencing this restaurant, I have created a new rule for going out.. If the carpet in a "fine dining" restaurant reminds me of La Quinta Inn, then don't expect the food to be any better than the food served at a La Quinta Inn. The only highlight of the evening was the piano bar. Yes, there was a piano bar and if we would have just stayed in that room and not eaten the food..my experience would have been so much better. Sincerely, Mr. Disappointed

For a city filled with Amazing restaurants, this one is just Ok. Grilled oysters felt like frozen, then throw under boiler to melt cheese. Crabmeat Ravioli was fishy & flavorless, thought about asking for Tony's to kick it up. Nice clean place with great bread pudding, but not worth the $50 I spent. Will Yelp next time rather than listen to a friend.

The waitstaff was very good and we were greeted as we entered. The reviews should have served as a warning for us not to eat here. We always like to try things out even with negative reviews. Its unfortunate that the food cannot compare with other local italian joints in town. We ordered fettuccini alfredo with chicken added, it was extremely runny and under flavored, i mean it was bland. We also ordered trout amandine, the portion was small and it tasted ok at best. The wedge was ok, too much blue cheese dressing smothering it, it was over powerful. The caprese salad was nothing but oily. Its unfortunate. We wont be going back. Thank goodness i was able to use a groupon to offset the over priced food. We still tipped well because the waiter was great and the warm bread was yummy.

Seriously, one of my favorite restaurant's in Metairie. The food is consistently good, and the wine is excellent. Its great for a special night out, or even for an early dinner with their sunset specials. When you go, the crabmeat ravioli is excellent. Andrea's is one of the reasons why I am especially picky when it comes to eating Italian.

I had Christmas dinner here. The place was packed to the gills, and it seemed the staff was a bit flustered. That being said, the food was great. We had a mix of veal, trout, and duckling. Everyone enjoyed their meals. They did bring me a trout instead of the roasted duckling at first which was a drag as we had been seated for quite a while. Probably spent 2-3 hours in the place, and only had some form of food infront of me for 45 min. ***
This place is so hit or miss for food and service. In general, most of the food is hearty if not all that creative. There is one dish - Linguine Andrea, I think it's called - Pasta with cream sauce, smoked salmon and caviar - that I haven't found anywhere else that is pretty tasty. Go on a Tuesday, or a Wednesday, or any day that is NOT A WEEKEND OR A HOLIDAY. Every time I've dined here on a weekend or a holiday the service is definitely lacking especially for a fine dining restaurant. You are likely to feel very ignored and will likely be angry that you paid so much for food that is (sometimes) good, but not great. Even if you make a reservation (which they've lost mine before), you are liable to not get the attention you'd expect from the rep this place has tried to maintain. Other reviewers are very right - the average age of the diner here is usually age 45. Because of this, several times we've gone here, I felt like the waiters didn't take us seriously b/c we looked like we were young and just ignored the fact that we were paying customers.

You got to love when your waiters are speaking Italian to each other at an Italian restaurant.......too bad my girlfriend had to ruin it and point out that they were speaking Spanish. This place is not that impressive. The highlight is the selection of soups. I liked the minestrone better than the spinach and chicken soup which was more like an Italian egg drop soup. Soph Monster said the minestrone was too salty and the mussels marinara were too fishy...so that was a bad start! We ordered the chicken a la gran and it was decent but not near that of moscas....not that i was expecting it to be. The spaghetti squash was the bomb.com and their were some nice sides to accompany the chicken. The pasta SUCKED! The real kicker is that we ordered an $8 cannoli to go (for the movie) and we both thought it sucked and might have been filled with cream from a week ago. Two other bright spots: 1. Quiet - good for a date 2. Good Parking Probably wont be back.

Went there once and really enjoyed it. Went back a couple of times and the food was not up to par. We'll pass on going back.

How on this good earth does this place get rated so highly in rankings like Gambit's "Best of New Orleans"? The diner's equivalent of the Stockholm Syndrome maybe? I was invited to an event there for a group of 20. The first impressions were quite good: tables all filled, lively chatter in the air, and the namesake himself gliding about greeting everyone personally. Then the evening had to be ruined by the, eh, trivial matter of the food and the service. In hindsight it should have been obvious from the moment Andrea shook my hand and I felt how delicate and pillowy, like a puff of cotton candy, his hand was that the food was going to be a disappointment. Despite the full chef's regalia this man hadn't done any serious work in the kitchen in years. As the orders were being taken around the table the waiter kept recommending a "special" filet mignon. I decided to take his word that it was one of Chef Andrea's best creations. Now, I know the sometime dirty secret of restaurant "specials of the day," but when this dish arrived I blinked a few times. The filet was miniscule. With no exaggeration it was a tad over 2" in diameter and 1" high, and it had an unappetizing grayish pallor. For a brief moment I thought I'd mistakenly been served a scallop. Of course, portion size and appearance can be trumped by flavor and texture (think frog legs or squab), but as soon as I began cutting, with the steak knife I twice reminded the waiter to bring, I knew I would be chewing on meat that had been frozen stiff since the woolly mammoth era. Also, for a place that's thrived for years on as unimaginative a menu as Andrea's has, the kitchen should at least have the sequencing down pat. But the main courses came out at different times, with two diners receiving their entrees while everyone else had begun pushing aside their remnants (and there were plenty of the remnants). Despite their offering apologies about being short-staffed in the kitchen that night, such a failure in service is totally inexcusable at their price point. I didn't have to pay for my meal, mercifully, but I felt bad for the folks who invited me. It must've been a $1,000 tab, and as we all said our good-byes not one guest complimented them on their choice of restaurant.

our waiter was a goofball. we tried to get him to NOT fill our glasses so we could stay dry. in the middle of taking our order he got distracted and disappeared for a few minutes. funny. was the chef off for the holiday? the trout was overcooked and i think they used the same tasteless sauce on the veal scallopini? and how can an italian restaurant ruin pasta? luckily christmas eve was uphill from there.

I've had to endure numerous business lunches here. When you walk in, you are greeted to a wall of awards, Andrea's cook books, and celebrity autographs. Because there are a limited number of Italian restaurants in the metro area, I really had high hopes for this place once upon a time. Perhaps the self-congratulatory wall set my hopes unreasonably high. As you pass by the wall again on your way out, you will most likely conclude that perhaps this restaurant has seen better days. Clientele: Old to ancient. Business people. Service: Hit or miss. Slow to inattentive. Pretty much guaranteed to serve your plate to the person sitting next to you. Food: Simply not impressive. If this is one of the best Italians restaurants the metro area has to offer, it surely is disappointing for this NJ transplant. In short, the two-star rating says it all, "Meh. I've experienced better." I have only been for lunch and would not consider going for dinner.

We went here for a special occasions and to be honest I expected a bit more. It is good, not great italian food. We started with calamari which basic breading really underwhelmed. I ordered the Veal piccata for an entree and it was bland to say the least. At the time we werent living in NOLA and we ordered cannelloni to go which turned out to be the better meal. I don't think I would go back because there are too many other good Italian places to go in metry

Unfortunately after. 6 times going there, I've yet to have a satisfying meal. Poor quality, just nothing worth going out to eat for. I cook better at home.

8 of us dined here recently, and after reading the reviews below, I was a bit hesitant and wasn't expecting much, but I was really pleased. the food was delicious, atmosphere nice and all of us were pleased. I would like to have had a bit more attentive service, but overall I would highly recommend if you are in the Metairie area.

Excellent service, loved the red fish crazy water and the caprese salad is awesome with homemade mozzarella made by chef Andreas.exquisite wine list,I recommend chef Andreas favorite Quianti or a mixed drink from his newly renovated bar. Make sure to ask for chef and he will always make time to stop by ur table and say hello and tell you how his fish come swimming to his door.....make sure to ask for Mariano as ur waiter or santino both the best.

Maybe it was because I went here for a wedding rehearsal party, but I wasn't all that impressed with Andrea's. The atmosphere is nice, but the food left me wanting more. I started with a meat ravioli bolognese, which was pretty decent. The next course was a salad. It seemed, however, that the salad dressing was water rather than anything with flavor. I tried adding oil and vinegar, but it ended up just tasting like watered-down oil and vinegar. Finally, the main course arrived. I chose the Chicken Parmesean; underneath the chicken was fried eggplant, which was nice. However, the chicken parmesean still could have used a little more flavor. For dessert I ordered chocolate mousse (the other option was, and I quote, plain cheesecake). Again, give me some more flavor! I did later find out that the chocolate mousse was sugar-free, so that may have explained some of the missing flavor here. Maybe if you come to Andrea's for a meal as a regular guest you would have a different experience, but mine lacked the flavor I would have expected.

Ok so a few years ago this place use to be the place to be seen. Dined here last night and had the worst dining experience ever! An itatilian restaurant should make their own pastas their own sauce their own bread! But this place sucks and is just a a fake itialian restaurant to make money not to Put out a quality product. The salad I had was full of wilted greens . I had the paneed veal with some sort of pasta bought from sysco or sams club. the veal was extremely over cooked and told the sever and he said I can buy another entree but couldn't fix the current one. Instead he sent out a free dessert which was creme burlee. The custard was extremely runny way under cooked custard. For $90 for 2 people I rather have gone to olive garden for poor quality and pre cooked food.

I thoroughly enjoy each and every time I eat at Andreas Restaurant! Crab cakes and shrimp cocktail are a must every time I go. Whether you are getting a fish or steak you are at the right place! There is always something they can fix up for the kids and something for everyone if you like seafood of course! You can usually find Chef Andrea meeting and greeting with his guests and if not don't worry, he's in the kitchen! All in all it is good place to eat if you have an open mind and enjoy eating different menu items!

The service was good. We tried the red snapper and Dover and both fish were good. The charbroiled oysters weren't bad. I would go back. Children menus had good options. Solid Italian restaurant for this area.

Do not EVER go to this restaurant. It is horrible! Granted, I was at a banquet- so I never expect wonderful cuisine under such circumstances, but this food was not edible. I sat at a table of 8 people. We had the choice of Veal or Fish. The Veal was tasteless and was in an undefinable, flavorless "sauce" of grease. Also, the veal was hard, yes hard, from (I guess) too long in the deep fryer. The fish that other guests got was also gross. The guests that had the fish said that it had no flavor and was greasy. We all began The meal with a bland soup containing pasta and beans. Next we got wilted salad- in a bland dressing. It was as if the salad has been leftover from the night before. A FIrst for me-- BAD Bread Pudding. How can they mess that up? As I walked to/from the bathroom mid meal, I could see plates of food on the 299 other guests' plates sitting virtually untouched. What a waste of money and food. Andrea should be mortified. The only reason that I am giving this place 1 star is because parking was easy.

We came in on our on, but were talked into a 3 course 25th anniversary special. Service was very slow, though the restaurant was not packed. The fried calamari were heavily overbreaded and tasteless, with a dipping sauce that was little more than Campbell's tomato soup. The salad Andrea, which on the menu claimed artichoke hearts and avacado, had neither. The house red was more vinegar than wine, a $5 wine from Rouse's would be much better. The white was better. Spaghetti & meatballs (what was I thinking?) were in a sauce as lacking as the earlier dip, a few fresh herbs would help. My wife's shrimp linguini was also uninteresting. Service quality picked up. The desserts (bread pudding and chocolate mousse) were excellent! $70, outstanding for a good meal, but depressing for an evening ruiner. The chef came around, warmly asking questions (before dessert). He determinely blamed the service (not bad, overall), and responded not at all to the main point. We were then swarmed by solicitous waiters offering (non-complimentarty) drinks and desserts.!

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

After reading a recent review I felt compelled to share my very unpleasant experience with everyone. My family and I had Thanksgiving Lunch here in 2012. If you take nothing from else this review, know this, It was the WORST high end dining experience of my life. We made reservations, far in advance. I was very excited to try Andrea's as it is a local restaurant that has been around a while. We expected it to be swanky and tasty. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time and we were not seated for 30 minutes beyond our reservation time. When we were finally seated, the dining room was crammed full. And I mean crammed. The table that they seated us at was tiny and we had 5 people eating. This was obviously not a dining table we were seated at as there was a table leg directly in front of me. I could not scoot to either side as I would have been sitting in my children's laps and I could not straddle the bar as my legs would not extend beyond the sides of my chair due to my children's chairs being jammed in next to mine. There was no space. None. I could not position my chair near the table because of the bar in front of me so I spent my entire meal leaning forward over my plate like an ill-mannered pig. The service was horrendous. Just horrendous. We had not one, not two, but THREE different waiters before they decided who was going to take care of us. It took an additional 30 minutes to receive bread. Of course the menu was limited, so we ordered and 15 minutes later, were brought plates of food that a cafeteria style restaurant would likely have declined to serve. It was literally just plopped on to the plate. No wiping the edge of the plate, no care taken for plating it was so sloppy. The food was so cold that the gravy splotches on my plate had already begun to separate into solids and oil. My turkey was just one slice of a dried mess with gravy on it. I didn't eat two bites. My daughter's ravioli was not even whole pieces. It was ravioli pieces and fragments covered in sauce. We quit expecting service and just gave up on having a nice meal. When we were brought the desserts, the plates were still cold from the refrigerator, and my son's had a clump of plastic wrap on the bottom of his. It prevented the plate from sitting level on the table, so how could it have been missed by staff? About 2 minutes into the dessert, they let us know that we needed to wrap things up as they has other people who needed to be seated. (after they seated us 30 minutes late) Ahem..... If you have made it this far, let me tell you that the décor is almost comical in its clearly 80's look. It looks like something from an 80's soap opera. Very over done with lavish flower patterns. The dust on the fixtures really adds something to the place. Maybe the dust is the old world charm they keep referring to. I do not recommend this place and if you eat there, do not say we didn't warn you.

(1)Andrew F.
Had reservations for 7:00 and its 7:50 and still not seated. They pushed off the kids reservation so the table that has been here since 4:00 can continue drinking. I will never come back here again. Worst service ever.
(1)Susan C.
Food great, customer service a nightmare. They lost our reservation then sat everyone else before us. Asked for a manager and they would not tell us who she was.
(1)Holly T.

(4)John M.

(3)John I.

Worst restaurant I've been to in a long time, maybe ever. Service was terrible. Waiter was sniffing, touched the food, rude.

Excellent Italian food. Service was awesome and wait staff was extremely friendly!
(5)J C.

Would not recommend this place it was one of the worse meals I have eaten....very over priced the food had no flavor the coconut cake was very dry too..save your money.
(1)Charles C.
It was so-so. Food was good but the service could have been better. May or may not be back.
(4)Cristen F.
This is no where near as good as Tony Angelo's and way overpriced.
(2)Jeff D.

(1)Allison S.
We attended a rehearsal dinner at Andreas, the food was great! I would go back again. Highly recommend the crawfish ravioli.
(4)Scott B.

(1)Jennifer T.
The absolute worst restaurant that I have ever been to. I'm not going to re-write my open table review, but I wish there was a zero star rating. They completely deserve it for the food, the horrible service and the bingo hall style ambience. I, seriously, would have preferred a quarter pounder. Ugh.
(1)Kiliana F.
(1)Lisa P.
(5)John H.
Overall good experience, not great - but will be back.

Middle of the road, Metairie, Italian, slightly overpriced. They do some good things, but nothing super creative. I think that is all there is to say about it.

(3)Bert M.
(4)Remahn F.

(2)June J.
Have yall seen how many health violations this place has been written up for? YUCK!!
(1)Cookie Monster S.
(2)Melissa N.
(4)Andrew D.

I honestly don't know why the reviews are so bad. The décor could use some work as could the service but the food was pretty good. The décor is outdated and what my husband described as "tacky". I didn't think it was horrible but could be better. Our server seemed rushed even though we were the only two in the place but he was kind and knowledgeable. They bring fresh bread to your table and the menu is extensive and informative. My husband got the raw oyster appetizer and said they were cold, fresh and good. I got the calamari app and they were seasoned well, hot and came with tasty marinara sauce. For dinner, I got the stuffed chicken in mushroom gravy. It was very good but I'd say the portion was fairly small. My husband got the split porkchop and he loved it. My husband also got a glass of the "Andrea's" red wine and said it was delicious. Give this place a chance, don't just go off of the bad reviews. We will definitely be back.

(2)Casey B.
(2)Derek R.

(1)Deborah A.
our waiter was a goofball. we tried to get him to NOT fill our glasses so we could stay dry. in the middle of taking our order he got distracted and disappeared for a few minutes. funny. was the chef off for the holiday? the trout was overcooked and i think they used the same tasteless sauce on the veal scallopini? and how can an italian restaurant ruin pasta? luckily christmas eve was uphill from there.
