This place is amazing! Everything from the onion rings to the bread pudding. If you're coming here, bring your appetite. Everything they serve is huge and delicious. I've tried just about everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites are the onion rings, chicken Parmesan, lasagna, fried chicken, and bread pudding. Mr Daryl, the owner, is very friendly also. He works the register and always knows who I am. If you come at 12-12:30, you may have to wait a few minutes for a table, not long though and it's well worth the wait. If you're looking for some good comfort food, this is a must try.

Maybe they lost their touch...there havent been many reviews lately or maybe its just today because John's photos look different than what I got... Roast beef poboy was just ok for me. On my list it would be closer to the bottom. The gravy is more of a blonde au jus than a dark brown gravy I prefer. The meat was tender but didnt have much flavor. Dont go out of your way.

Best poboys on the Northshore, for sure! Bring your appetite, because these guys put out some seriously large servings! The 6" shrimp is loaded with nice sized, perfectly breaded shrimp, with the typical toppings. Today's lunch special included a cup of seafood gumbo for $13.99. Not a bad deal! In addition to the normal poboy offerings, they have quite a few that you don't see on the southshore, like meatball, eggplant parm, veal parm, etc., along with hamburgers and pasta dishes. Two tips: They're located just across from Rouse's in the same shopping center, in spite of what your GPS may say, and if you go around lunchtime, expect long lines, but worth the wait.

I stopped in here on a jaunt to the northshore at John's suggestion and wow this place didn't disappoint. The location is a bit nondescript on the outside and the parking lot is tight and folks were fighting for spots on a rainy Friday evening when I stopped in, but inside is inviting with original art work and a spacious and clean restaurant. There were lots of people waiting for takeout when we arrived but our orders came out quickly and they were tasty. I had the crab and corn bisque which was amazing. My Dad randomly ordered a turkey poboy which he said was good and my Mom ordered a tuna salad in a tomato which was huge...although the tomato was pretty underripe. Also, they serve community iced tea which is always a plus in my book. I loved that corn and crab bisque so much that I ordered some to go for my niece. Definitely a spot to comeback too.

Great service, get the small po boy, unless you are sharing. There are about 100 shrimp on the large

Just driving around on the North Shore of Lake Pontchatrain. We ask some folks for a recommendation. They sent us to Pontchatrain PoBoy. It is located at the back of a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. This place used to be in New Orleans for 30 something years, but one too many hurricanes is enough for anybody. The sound level runs about 55-60 db, which is conversation level at lunch time. Menus at the front and on the wall above the place at which you order. Friendly service, the owner opened my beer for me. A full range of PoBoys and sides. I had the Oyster and my wife had the Catfish. The 6 inch is HUGE. Just the right amount of dressing and lots of meat. The fish and oysters were fresh and juicy. Did I mention lots of meat. We shared the sweet potato fries, again a large portion and very tastee. Lots of take out business at lunch, as well as sit down dinner. Too bad I don't get here often. As good as anything in New Orleans. Also the place is clean. A very nice mural of the old Pontachatrain Beach Park on the wall.

I love roast beef poor boys and I am constantly on a quest to find the best version of this amazing sandwich. Currently Pontchartrain Po-Boys is the best. The old location of Pontchartrain has a few draw backs. It was tiny and parking was very limited. The new version is much larger and there is much more parking. If the main parking area fills up, you can park in the Rouses lot. The food is incredible. The roast beef is the best on the Northshore and I'd even go so far as saying it's better than any of the shops in New Orleans. To make a great poor boy it starts with the bread. Pontchartrain knows this so each sandwich uses only Leidenheimer bread. That bread is then topped with the perfect mayo/beef/gravy ratio and dressed with lettuce and tomatoes. The beef is obviously slow roasted, and has a great beefy and garlicky taste. I wish I could make you understand how incredible that beef tastes, but you'll have to take my word for it. The sounds I make when biting into that sandwich are probably similar to a caveman who tasted his first piece of meat after eating only berries. It's that good. Their other poor boys are all very good, but none can top that roast beef. I occasionally change it up and can recommend the shrimp and cheeseburger, but I can't get enough of that roast beef. If you're looking for a side item, try the gravy fries. This was not on their original menu, but I notice they've added it. I'd like to hope it was added because I ordered it so much, but that's highly unlikely. These cheese fries are improved so much by the addition on gravy and roast beef that I occasionally make a meal of just that. Besides the food being so great, the owners and staff are too. The owner is always working the register and is one of the most friendly guys you'll ever meet. Once you come in a few times he remembers your name and makes you feel genuinely welcome. The one negative is that they are a victim of their own success and frequently very busy. Trying to place a phone order during peak times is occasionally difficult. The phone is often busy or rings off the hook. Apparently everyone now knows how good they are. If you like roast beef poor boys, you need to get here as soon as humanly possible.

Home style cooking, pleasant surroundings and friendly service come together to create a delicious and really filling meal. Expect to have lunch for the next day. I love this place. The Mac and cheese with debris roast beef gravy is my favorite. Order the small for about $4. The large is enough for the whole table.

The best poboy I have ever had! Shrimp are always fresh and plenty full. Live in Florida and come by at least once every time I visit. Not ashamed to say I have been here everyday during my weeks stay before! Even my kids (who have been coming back and forth) know this to be a tradition upon coming to town. Excellent customer service and pleasant family owned business.

First Po Boy ever! WOW. Really darn good. Shrimp Po Boy was succulent and there were easily 30+ shrimp on this thing!

Great oyster poboy and amazingly good mac n cheese. Get the six inch sandwich -- the 12" is ginormous.

After unsuccessfully trying to call to place a takeout order for a mufflelatta (phone was constantly busy), I drove to restaurant to place my order at counter. After 15 minutes of waiting in line, I was told they were "out of mufflelattas". This was last night (Friday) at 6:40pm--prime time dining hours, yet they "out" of a mainstay menu item. I am a disappointed diner.
