Best thing here is the staff. The owners usually come around & talk to you & ask if you enjoyed the meal. I love this personal touch. The waitresses are always sweet and even remember your name. The food is good. My favs are the BLT, the sliders, the Cuban, and the Texas burger. The fries are usually fried perfectly and served hot. They have great breakfast & the beignet sticks are delicious.

Had to go all the way to 5 stars on this one. From the time we walked in the door, we felt welcome and had a short wait. One of the best breakfast joints I have had in awhile. It is located in taking strip mall, but don't let that deter you from the deliciousness being made inside. Our waitress was polite and made great recommendations to my mimosa. I ordered the eggs sardou - creamed spinach eggs Benedict basically BUT there was a special sweet treat under the poached eggs.. artichoke! Delicious. I ordered my side of grits with Roast beef debris. My boyfriend is not a fan pf grits, but thought they were amazing. The country fried steak is well peppered and biscuits were on point. Definitely will be back. Thanks Yelp for the grest gem.

Interesting place. Has potential and it's on it's way to getting there. I had the egg white vegetarian which was delicious. The country style potatoes are food service when it's cheaper and better to serve fresh. Nice servers as well!! Fix that folks and I turn this to the5 star that it should be.

People are awesome. The owner was there and talked to us for a while. The food was amazing and pretty cheap for what ya get! Next time I'm in New Orleans, I will be back.

Love their breakfast (especially the eggs, grits, and biscuits), salads, onion rings, daily hot plate specials, soups, and roast beef sandwiches. Wish they served milk shakes/dessert and stayed open until at least 3 or even better for dinner! Would like to have complete menu available for breakfast and lunch! Give it a try! It's delicious! They need to have free wifi for their customers.

I am always excited to try new breakfast spots on the Northshore. I seem to always go to the same place every weekend and need some new restaurants to put in the rotation. Fat Spoon is located in a strip mall on HWY 59 in between Mandeville and Abita Springs. It is a little out of my way, but I decided to stop in one Sunday and give it a try. I opted for the pulled pork stacker. It had eggs, potatoes, pulled pork and gravy in the same bowl. That seemed like a winning combination, but it was just OK. The pork wasn't particularly flavorful and it detracted from the dish. I think the addition of a sauce other than cream gravy would improve the dish. Service was good and the owner was very friendly. The crowd mostly seemed to be regulars, but we were made to feel welcome despite it being our first time there. I don't know if fat Spoon will become my new go-to breakfast spot, but I am sure I will be back to try more of the menu.

No complaints. I guess if you need or want someone to cook breakfast for ya, this place can do it well. Waitress was nice and friendly. Pleasant atmosphere. You should give them a try, definitely better than most fast food chain restaurants. Prices are good for what you get. Sorry, no pictures today but we ordered omelette and my husband had ham steak, two eggs and waffle. Typical breakfast items.

We really enjoyed it, twice....... Great service and food. Only open for breakfast and lunch but that worked for me. It's New Orleans food done right.

Excellent lunch destination! I work just down the road and have recently become a regular, everything I've tried has been excellent in quality and portion and very reasonably priced. Service is always fast and friendly and even if they're busy you don't feel neglected.

I think I just found a new favorite Northshore brunch spot! The food at Fat Spoon is awesome. I mean eggs served with a fried meat pie - really does life get any better? The selection of more traditional brunch items is there as well - very good benedicts and such. But it's the specialty items - as well as the previously mentioned eggs with a meat pie there is a gut busted plate of sheer awesomeness referred to as "The Stacker". The place is by no means fancy but the staff is plenty friendly. There were no issues when I accidently spilled a glass of water - just a few well-placed jokes concerning the availability of sippy cups (hey, we all need them from time to time!). They also serve lunch - menu looks good but I haven't yet tried it. Oh, and of course there is a full bar! If you are going keep a close watch for it - it's in a strip mall north of I-12 and easy to miss. Bottom line: It's good!!

These guys are great. The owner is behind the bar and is quite jovial. The food is southern comfort breakfast food. I had the Fat Spoon sandwich and the eggs were cooked well; it tasted great. Their grits are homemade from hominy and came out to me nice and creamy; that's rare. I saw someone else with the Eggs NOLA; it looked good and I would try it. This place is a great breakfast or brunch place.

Sunday morning driving around looking for a new place for breakfast. Here enters Fat Spoon Cafe! We had a good idea that maybe this was just the place to be as we saw cars entering and exiting, the parking lot was pretty filled up. Do we have a winner here?? To answer that question, why yes, YES we do! We were warmly greeted as we entered and informed sit where ever we like, Quickly someone was at our table taking our drink orders. Very quick and prompt service for sure. Checking the menu there were several items we were wanting to try but for me to find out if this is going to be a "go to" breakfast place for me, they need to have good eggs benedict and that they did. My BF gave the Fat Spoon Stackers a try and oh my, lets just say the plate is loaded with food. The biscuit looks to be about a mile high and delicious. I also upped my side of grits with debris and now were talking. I've included a few photos of our meal. Needless to say my BF's plate was cleaned while mine, I just couldn't get it all down. But I did give it my best try. Everyone was friendly, social and very welcoming. Service was fast, food was excellent, honestly you can't get much better. I'm looking forward to giving their lunch menu a try.

Holy Amaze balls! This place is beyond food coma deliciousness. From the outside, it looks to be nothing more than a dumpy sports bar, replete with the requisite three annoying tv's. That being said, the food is wonderful so go some place else for atmospere. I ordered the sweet potato waffles (freshly made and lightly sweetened) and the special of the morning, shrimp with gifts. The shrimp were freshly caught and covered in a well seasoned thyme infused gravy over perfectly creamy grits. The portions are HUGE and the service was excellent. I give it four stars because of the "tacky sports bar vibe."

Eggs sardou is excellent. Everyone is friendly and the menu is expansive. Great stop for a quick bite right off the interstate. Map is wrong, keep going north into village 59 shopping center

This place has normal run of the mill breakfast. Not cheap, not expensive (26$ for wife and I) I had eggs sausage and toast with a waffle it was OK at best the waffle was not that good! The wife had eggs NOLA and said it was real good. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly. I won't go out of my way to eat here but I wouldn't cross it off the list either.

This is why I LOVE Yelp! Supports mom n pop/independent local businesses! This place is amazing! Daily Cajun specials. I had eggs NOLA my hubby had the fat spoon omlette. They close at 2 on Sundays we had no idea. Still got top notch friendly service and A MAZING food...!!!

Just got back from breakfast here and really enjoyed it. Their stacker was awesome with chicken fried steak that melted in your mouth. My wife can't stop eating her sweet potato waffles with pecan leftovers even now. I can't wait to try lunch and this may be our new Northshore brunch spot with draft beer, Mimosa's, and Bloody Mary's to wash away Saturday night.

Best roast beef poboy north or southshore!!!

Lunch - the couchon du lait or Reuben sandwich and a house salad are plenty to split with your dining partner. No single person should consume a sandwich that big. Friendly staff, fresh home-cooked food, modern cozy atmosphere and clean restrooms.
