I don't set out to slam any restaurant! These people for the most are trying to survive in a struggling economy and even when the economy is strong anyone opening a restaurant in SE La has to be on the ball to satisfy a demanding customer base. Now having said that, I'll share my one experience at this restaurant. As the craving for red gravy called from with-in, and a Saints game to take-in, This was the place to meet both needs. When I walked in I was taken back by what seemed to be a really dimly lit dining room. The more my eyes adjusted I realized the place was in a real need for any and all of the following, cleaning, new decor, carpets or just new flooring. There seemed to be enough of a layer of smoke on all surfaces that it reminded me of an old bowling alley. The dining room was fairly busy and appeared to be families, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their evening. So put everything prior to my last statement aside, and just take it a face value that this would equate to an old neighborhood restaurant with a loyal following. Now the food: I wanted red gravy and ordered veal Parmesan and had I believe an appetizer of fried eggplant. With a glass of red wine. All food items were very tasty, the red gravy was good, as was the veal. I had pretty much overcome all detractors up too mid way through my entree when I happened to notice something on my plate half into my red gravy was an obvious long dark hair! I suspect that a woman in the kitchen is producing these plates. This is a game changer in my opinion! Hair happens! But considering everything put aside, it all comes to bare that cleanliness is not one of this places attributes. If it was then I would have felt that this was most likely a clean hair in my food. It's a shame because this Chef/owner most likely struggles to stay afloat, so hopefully they read this and make positive adjustments where need be. With as many places to satisfy any ethnic food cravings I don't have to give this place another shot, but I'd most likely do that because we all need a 2nd chance.

One of the best italian restaurants I've been ever to. We loved everything we ordered. The waitress was amazing. The staff is one of the best. I would recommend the place for anyone who loves Italian cuisine.

Authentic and Delicious. I had the calzone and my husband had the lasagna. Both were very good. Order an Italian salad also - yum! We'll be back.

There are maybe two really good places to get a good Pizza on the North Shore. Coscino's is one of them. Great atmosphere. . . . big screen TV's on the wall, live music, good food and good drinks from the bar. Reasonably priced and the service is always good.

Atmosphere on music nights is great! Food is very good. Not the best, but is better than most. I will be a regular. Great muffeletta and they make a good pizza with plenty pepperoni.

This place is a disaster. Apparently the people who rated this place needs to stop doing drugs! Waitress was nice but overwhelmed! Took 20 minutes to get greeted. The service sucked! The crust was ok but everything else was cheap and no flavor! I will not be back!

The food is delicious but our waiter was awful. Promised to bring my husband more bread but never did. Maybe he forgot but not very good for the job he is in huh? My husband visited for lunch and the service was excellent. Also they have live music which is ok but the volume was way too loud if you want to have dinner conversation.

Great food! It's like an actual East Coast pizza restaurant. I was picking up something for takeout and spent a few minutes talking with Danni who was super nice. She told me that the owner had someone from Brooklyn, NY come spend 6 months here teaching them how to make all the awesome authentic East Coast Italian restaurant food. They are moving into the slot next door which will be bigger and nicer but it's still going to be casual dining. I can't comment on the table service since I only got takeout but Danni and Dana(?) were really sweet. The chicken parm sandwich was amazing! I ordered the large and it was HUGE! My boyfriend and I split it and were stuffed afterward (but our taste buds still wanted more!). PS - they give you extra napkins for a reason! UPDATE 7 Sept 2012: I got the chance to come back a few days later and sat down for lunch. Danni was there again and Judy was my server. I couldn't help it - I ordered the chicken parm sandwich again because I'd liked it so much the first time. Well, when they brought out the chicken parmesan on pasta I realized I'd not specified that I'd wanted the sandwich. They were really gracious about it and replaced it with the sandwich within minutes. I apologized and told them it was my fault but when I was about done, Judy brought me a cannoli to make up for that mistake! Now that's customer service!

We come here at least once or twice a month and they never disappoint! We usually stick to doing take out but the place does have a great atmosphere and an awesome staff. It's sooooooooooo much better than all the Pizza Hut/Dominoes options around here.

This is the best pizza around. It was my sons last night home before leaving for college. He wanted Coscino Pizza! Their food is fresh and always good. We always order chicken Parm and pizza to go. I love eating in restaurant as well. Owners are super nice and always come over to greet me and say hello.

Great little place in a strip mall... Almost a drive-by, but so glad we went in! Friendly service, good pizza with lots of topping choices, but the highlight of the evening was the "Italian Salad". I'm so glad that the two of us went a bit overboard and ordered a large... NO left-overs just about sums it up. YUM!

If you are out on the northshore in Mandeville area and want good Italian food, this is the place! My girlfriend and I go every Wednesday night. We both agree the best lasagna we've ever ate. The loaded cheese fries are really good. Then pizza, well so far best pizza I have ate in the area. Even just the pepperoni is good. Service is excellent. Oh and did I mention live music? The musicians that play here have been very good. Every time we have went it was someone different and they were all good. I highly recommend this place!

Went there last night and whittnessed the owner drinking all night and acting belligerent. He actually yelled obscenities at customers that were being well mannered. The owner acted as if he wanted to fight them. I spoke with the customers and they were celebrating a graduation. My family will never go there again. I still can't believe the drunk owner yelled obscenities in front of my child. It was like something you see on a tv show about owners that can't manage their establishment.

Some of the best pizza I have ever eaten! Great atmosphere with a bar and nice waitstaff. It is family owned, and the owners and their daughter, who is a waitress, is always there. They have a live band nightly and pizza specials on Thursdays. Worth checking out for sure!

Highly recommended! I had a calzone with an Abita Andygator while my fiancee had the meatball sandwich with a sweet tea. Both were very good. On top of the delicious food the service was amazing and they had a great classic rock playlist going. Also they had a nice selection of bottled beer (the manager said they were in the process of having taps installed). We will definitely be going back!

Unfortunately I cannot give no stars. Menues were dirty and started to mildew. Service was nice but confused with our orders and mixed up everything. My chicken was crusty but ok - spaghetti overcooked and tomato sauce way to sweet. No way that this restaurant can get more than 3 stars in average!

Went in , sign was turned to seat yourself, so we grabbed a table. Waited over fifteen minutes for someone to come to table. Looked only two server working and neither one came by our table. Needless to say we left without ever ordering. This was a great place before they expanded.

Food was okay! The bread sticks were the star hot and buttery and the live music was cool they should've let me play. I have to admit we all thought the pizza was super greasy. There's know denying that maybe it's not like that all the time. The wings were average. We will give em another try just ask for less grease........

We had not yet tried pizza on the North Shore but we discovered that our favorite pizza Delicious in the Bywater was closed for a month, we decided it was time to seek some pizza close to home. First we tried the Pizza Man of Covington. Called at 8:20 on Monday to order a pizza. We were rudely told that they were closed. But their website and menu say 9pm......oh well I guess they are out! But I digress...we found this place on yelp with many good reviews so we decided to try it. The place is very casual in a strip mall, but clean and comfortable inside. We started with the garlic bread ($3.50). It was fine. A bit small with 3 small slices each. The sauce that came with it was obviously fresh made and was amazing- and I am not a tomato sauce lover. We also ordered a medium pizza. My partner thought it was tasteless, and I thought it was very standard and very small for $16.00 with 2 toppings and we finished the entire thing and got dessert. There was just nothing special there. Toppings were fine and plentiful, the cheese was ok, the dough kinda tasteless. I would not go back for pizza. We finished our meal with a slice of cheesecake ($5.25) and a mini chocolate cannoli ($3.25). The cannoli was bland and tasted like sugar, nothing else. But the cheesecake slice was huge and was so good! It was creamy and not too sweet. The best I have had other than my own. I'd go there for the cheesecake but nothing else.

Serviceable traditional Italian joint - looks very kid-friendly. Lunch specials, including 2-for-1 pizza slices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Live music, good service...

My boyfriend and I went to check Coscinos out on a random Wednesday night. Thank goodness!!! There was live music and $1 pizza slices!! We had a couple cold beers, listened to some great music, and enjoyed a few slices of pizza. We also ordered the eggplant sticks with red gravy...YUM!!! Our waitress, Danni, was super nice and gave us her menu recommendations as well as talking with us about the restaurant and different Italian sauces. I highly recommend Coscino's for anyone who enjoys Italian cuisine and a casual, friendly ambiance.

Pizza is great! HOWEVER, do yourself a favor and order for take out. The nights they have live music it is so loud you can't even have a conversation with the person next to you. On top of it the owner (along with the musician) beg for tips. "Tip your servers, they work hard, give me a few extra dollars". If you as an owner cannot pay your staff enough, please don't beg for them. Their service will provide the tip at the end of the service. And lastly, put a few dollars into your place and make the necessary repairs that are blatantly obvious to your guests.

The owner obviously doesn't remember the night my family attempted to celebrate my niece's graduation from LSU. It took over 2 hours to get our meals and my brother in law never received his meal and they still charged him for it. As my sister tried to take care of her check at the bar, the owner's husband and his friends harrassed my husband. I have never experienced such an awful dining experience. This place is a joke. Between my 4 siblings and 2 sets of grandparents we spent well over $500.00 and we're totally disrespected by the owners. Good luck to their staff!

As far as pizza goes, this place is tops! I love it! The pie is a Classic thin crust, the sauce and cheese are delicious. I believe its one of the top 2 Pizza joints on the Northshore. As far as the other food, (besides the killer Cannoli after the pie!), I can only speculate that it's just as good as the Pizzas, because all I have tried was their Pizza Pies. If you are a pizza lover, Treat yourself to the real deal with a pie from this place!

Decent pizza place, right off of the Causeway in Mandeville. Looking for a quick dinner with my wife, and landed here. Walked in the door, and they had a 'one man band' on the stage and requesting karaoke singers...we declined. But, all in all, it was a great little family restaurant and excellent calzones. Next time, planning a trip with the rest of the family. The waitress was great, and everyone looked like they were having a great time as well. Very personable everywhere we looked. Like one great big family, customers and all.

Cute, family run Italian restaurant in Mandeville. Come hungry because the portions are huge. For an appetizer I had the cheesesticks, which were good. For my meal I had the eggplant parmesean. It was very good and filling. Service was friendly. Check the schedule for live music.

First off I will say that the red sauce here is perfect. But it is not for everyone. It is thick and chunky and slightly spicy which is exactly like Cajun red sauce should be...not to be confused with traditional Italian red sauce which is a little more watery. If you don't like spicy sauce you will not like the food here. Same goes for the pizza. It is loaded with what ever toppings you order and they are fresh. The quality is consistent as well. We have gone here several times and it is the same every time...it's great. If I were judging on food alone I would give them 5 Stars. They really are the best at what they offer in the price range. However the place does have a few short comings related to atmosphere. First off the wait staff can be extremely annoying. For example I was there a couple days ago and the waitress was talking a mile a minute. She would ask you something and then cut you off by making a joke or asking you something else. Also she was loud and within a few minutes of sitting down she was all I could hear. It actually made us hurry through our meal so we could get out. This isn't the first time we experienced bizarre wait staff. Months ago our waitress would check on us at strange times and ask us questions that were poorly timed like immediately after seating us she asked "how is everything so far?" Bizarre. Also on weekends they have a live cover band which is just ok for me. They play while you eat and you feel compelled to tip walking out. I stopped going on weekends cause my date and I couldn't talk during dinner due to loud music. Any way food good. Atmosphere and service...bizarre.

Been many many times and Love it. By far best meatballs on the Northshore! Very good pizza. But what separates them from anyone on the Northshore is their service, 2nd to none! Michelle is by far the best waitress in the area. Hopefully Jamie and Mike are taking care of her bc she could go anywhere. Love this place!

For a place in a small strip mall they actually manage to pull off a fun atmosphere with a bit of nostalgic Italian American stereotypical restaurant feel. They have a nice selection of salads, appetizers, pasta, pizza, calzones, sandwiches and burgers. The lasagna here is good and decently sized. The pasta and sandwich portions are all quite generous. The service was adequate and they managed to keep my drink refilled. This seems to be a pretty popular spot in the area and seems like a lot of families with young kids frequent it for lunch and then they seem to offer more adult activities later at night. They also feature a daily happy hour from 3-6pm. Overall its a nice casual spot for Italian food if you're in Mandeville and they have some good lunch specials.

I've eaten at Coscino's quite a few times now. Great pizza. Great sandwiches and as far as the sandwiches go, when they say Large, they mean LARGE! They bake their own bread which is really good. Everything I have had has been really good. The only thing I didn't care for was being charged an extra $1.85 to add onions to my sandwich. The sandwich was already $10 as this place is rather pricey. They have live music some nights that I've been meaning to stop in for but haven't made it yet. I will soon. I'll be back. Good food, good atmosphere and Jamie is very friendly. :)

Taste tested more pizza on my trip to Ny this month (March 2015) and once again, none of them come close to Coscino's. I think Coscino's has perfected the art of pizza and real Italian cuisine, and at a price I can afford. I'll be back & I definitely recommend them.

I moved down here from the NorthEast a few years ago and having worked at a family run italian restaurant for many years myself, the search was on to find one down here. I Definitely found it at Coscino's Pizza ! Everything is made from scratch and prepared daily. It's a wonderful family run restaraunt and they treat you like part of the family! You don't find that very often down here at the other restaurants! We love to eat there, the lasagna, chicken parmesan, pizza and everything on the menu is worth the price for the quality of the food. They also have free entertainment most nights while you dine.

Last night Todd and I couldn't decide what to make for dinner so we ended up at a place named Coscino's Pizza in Mandeville. They do not have a website so I can't give you a link (at least I couldn't find one). Upon viewing the outside of the place it's in an older looking strip mall. It doesn't look super nice or fancy at all. Once inside, the look is still the same. Todd described it as "one step up from a dive bar" and I agree, but on that note, maybe that's the look they were going for. They had some old arcade games (Ms. PacMan, Area 51) and an old big screen tv. The old projection type tvs that roll around. I remember when my parents had one of those back in the 90's! They do offer karaoke, open mic nights, and sometimes live music. There is a doorway entrance to another room which is the bar area. I think that's where they have the bands and karaoke. We sat in the "restaurant" side which has a few booths and some table tops. We went on a Tuesday and on that night it's $4 mozzarella sticks. Every day there is a different special and M-F 11am-3pm is 2 for 1 pizza slices. We started with the sticks, which were okay. I liked that the cheese didn't separate from the breading like some usually do. Then we both ordered a personal (8in) pizza. I got the spinach pizza and Todd got one with pepperoni, feta cheese, and jalapenos (I can't remember the name though). The pizzas were awesome! I loved that the crust was a flaky, thin, crispy crust. It wasn't the usual doughy, bready type. The ingredients on the pizzas were fresh and the garlic herb sauce (which came on both of our pizzas) was great! I really loved Coscino's Pizza. For dessert I decided to try the mini chocolate cannoli. It was ehhhh.....I do have to say I was really disappointed with this. It was borderline frozen and I couldn't tell if it was bought somewhere else and brought in to sell. I should have passed on this and saved some calories. The prices seemed kind of high for the style and image that Coscino's projects. My spinach pizza was $10.95, I think $7.95 fits the restaurant better. I do have to say the pizzas are good though, but at those prices I expect a higher scale restaurant. They do have a happy hour....with NO beer specials...yeah, that was kind of weird. I have never heard of a happy hour with no beer specials, especially at a pizza joint! Beer and pizza go hand in hand! Over all, Todd and I did enjoy this place. Just don't expect some fancy, hold your pinkie up type of place. Just a little hole in the wall type of pizza joint. We will be back here, maybe even for that 2 for 1 lunch slice!

Pizza and service were fine, as were the drinks. The atmosphere could use a little improvement. Dimmer lighting, hide the cables that are running behind the tv and two things I though would be an improvement.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
