I feel that this restaurant is very over hyped. I tried very hard to enjoy Zeas. However, their food is mediocre and often over salted -- not terrible. The restaurant has a lovely interior. The wait staff is friendly. The pit fall for Zeas is their clientele. Some come casual and others fairly formal, it is confusing. Worst more it is very noisy. Large groups are often rowdy to the point of me wanting to leave before finishing my meal. My waiter for my last visit stated that its worse on half-off margarita nights, Wednesdays(?).

Love the chicken with garlic and herb and the cheese grits!! I crave it!! Wish they had one in Lake Charles!
(5)Gina L.
I've come here a few times with my boyfriend for "'*special occasions"~*" (because we're cheap, yet classy) and the service was really nice. The little buzzers are cute and helpful, so you can sit at the bar and enjoy your wait for a table. I had the duck empanadas and they were amazebawlz, and the corn grits are addicting. Now that I live in California I think WHERE IN THE HECK DO I GET CORN GRITS LIKE THESE!
(5)Jamie K.
Very very very good !!! Shrimp and grits great salmon great. A must if you are in town.

I've eaten Zea's plenty of time, don't know what happen to my review or even if I reviewed it.. The staff here is attentive and helpful overall, there were times where I had great service and others when I had bad service.. Zea's has a delicious variety of food, and I always try to get something different when I come, there are a few hits and misses, we had the following: - Hummus Flight - Mediterranean Hummus, Pesto Hummus, and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus served with pita - normally we would only get the mediterranean hummus, but wanted to try the others, pesto wasn't good, but the roasted red pepper was delicious, but I think we are just gonna stick with mediterranean only next time - Duck Empanadas - flaky pastry, filling of roasted duck, cheese, onion, Zydeco sauce - dangerously delicious - Tender Roast Pork with Rosemary Garlic Glaze - this was mediocre, a tad too salty for me - Twice-Cooked Crispy Duck - spit-roasted, then crisped, honey-soy, herbs - we always get this, so delicious and a very nice texture The following items are what we also get the other times we come, I did not put any pictures of them up, but I will when I get to them again: - Mediterranean Hummus - sundried tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, roasted garlic, roma tomatoes, pita bread - delicious, but never enough pita!! We always have to get more pita because its so delicious! - Truffle Mac & Cheese - Creamy blend of cheeses, macaroni, baby bella mushrooms and truffle oil - very creamy, and delicious, wish it had a bit more truffle oil - Asian Almond Shrimp - fried crisp, honey ginger chili glaze - another very delicious appetizer! - Korean BBQ Tacos - Spicy Soy BBQ pork, house-made kimchi slaw - this was mediocre, somewhat lack flavor - Shrimp Breaux Bridge - Gulf shrimp sautéed in garlic & herbs, penne pasta in spicy cream sauce - delicious and creamy! - Pesto Trout - fresh filets, basil pesto crusted - the only fish we eat here, its delicious and herby!! - Fire Roasted Chicken - Sweet Chili Glaze - the only type of chicken we get here! so good!! - Rack of Ribs - Thai - also, the only type of ribs we get here.. finger licking deliciousness! Will always enjoy Zea's!

Some friends and I went to ZEA on some locals recommendation and we had a very good time. I had a chicken salad that was out standing. A friend got the roasted lamb and he said it was also very good. My other friend had a salad and one of their frozen Cosmos and it knocked her on her butt! Strong stuff. Our waiter provided great personal service and the decor is very nice. I would recommend ZEA's restaurant.

I really liked this place. The hummus is amazing the staff was really nice, and the owner even came talk to us to see how we were doing. Very impressed can't wait to go back! Plus they have great drink specials!
(5)Katrina C.
Started off with the duck empanadas and crispy goat cheese followed by the hummus flight and ended with the sweet potato bread pudding. All were delicious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable.

Absolutely best restaurant! The only thing i could have done without was the caesar salad. Didn't like the caesar dressing.. But everything else out shined it ...i kind of forgotten i had salad! Lol Had the garlic roasted hummus with fresh pita bread. .....loved tasted freshly made. The best items i had were the asian almond shrimp deep fried but sooo fresh with slithers of toasted almonds and a asian or thai glaze! Then omg! The thai ribs was off the chain and off the bone! Its pork ribs with thai sauce deeeeeeeelish!!! Last but not least this was my spotlight dish that i had no choice but to order one to go! Drumroll pleaseeee .............the corn grits!! I ate it with the thai ribs.. They compliment the palate very well together! Yum!!! Restaurant itself was nice and chic in my opinion ....a little dark ...but who cares as long as the spotlight was on my plate i didn't care!! Lol Quick note: small plates are more than enough. great job Zea's rotisserie

I had the pleasure of eating here last Sunday. When I first walked in I noticed it was medium to low lighting which I'm a fan of for dinner. The ambiance was very nice but not overly fancy. I feel like I could come here for a nice date, cut up a little with friends, or a business dinner/lunch. Our waitress was very nice and friendly (forgot her name but she was also the bartender that night). She suggested the duck empanadas, and I am glad she did. Those were amazing! The outside was just cooked to perfection with a flakey golden crust. The inside was a mix of the duck, some kind of sauce or cream, and the duck. There was sweet sauce (almost like a honey mustard) that came with it, but I could eat the empanadas without it. I am glad we got 4 instead of two cause it was crazy good. For the main entree I had the yellowfin tuna with roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli, while my date had the rotisserie chicken with a chili sauce, red beans and rice, and roasted potatoes as well. My tuna was pretty good, roasted potatoes weren't bad, and I liked the steamed broccoli a lot. The chicken was really well done and delicious. I though the red beans and rice was different but pretty tastie. We also got the bread pudding for dessert. Amazing! I would recommend it! However it is huge so you should share it and be prepared to take it home. Maybe get a side of vanilla ice cream. Over all great experience and I'll be looking forward to coming back and trying something new!

My favorite place to eat in Lafayette. Definitely worth the wait. Appetizers- get the DUCK EMPANADAS. Yes it deserves to be yelled out. The Thai ribs as appetizer were also really great. Also, every single drink that was made was top notch. Believe me, I tried a sip of all my friends' drinks, classy I know. From the mojitos to white russians to the old fashioned to the kentucky mule... so great. I ordered the Saturday special that was veal, and the meat was very tender. Presentation could've been a bit worked on, but all is forgiven because in the end, it's about the taste!

My new FAVORITE place to eat in Lafayette!!! The atmosphere is wonderful! I travel from Houston to Lafayette on business and two of the restaurants I frequent were closed Sunday evening so Yelp helped me locate this restaurant....soooo thankful to of found this place! Started with the zesty spinach dip topped with feta cheese and served with fresh thick chips. Fantastic !!! The Pistachio crusted salmon with grilled asparagus is absolutely amazing!!! Incredibly fresh and tasty! Prepared perfectly. Also had the Corn grits...VERY yummy !!! Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful dinner....I will DEF be back !!
(5)Patrick J.
Great food and atmosphere. The menu selection has something for everyone. The chicken and ribs are so tender they literally fall off the bone. And once you have had the corn grits you will be hooked! Great service by our waiter (Kameron F.) made our lunch perfect. Looking forward to eating there again soon.
(5)David T.
I really liked this place, though I wish I would have come on a Wednesday or a Sunday so I could have grabbed a steak. I landed up getting grilled chicken and roasted potatoes, which were fantastic. The guac was also great. The atmosphere was a bit weird; it looked sort of like an Italian restaurant. But service was great; the server was really attentive to our (very large) party and was constantly present with water and other needs.
(4)Reggie G.
Great Place, we been here multiple times and it is never over crowed or loud. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the special bar drinks.
(5)Robin C.
We loved it. I think we have found our new favorite restaurant. We moved to this area a couple months ago and have been looking for a good place to eat that also has plenty to offer. This is it! The staff is excellent and the owner came around and knew that it was our first time at his establishment and made our experience even more enjoyable. The communication between the staff and owner are great because we told our server that we had never been to this particular restaurant before and would need a few more minutes to look over the menu before ordering. She also gave us suggestions on what is popular on the menu, which made it easier to make a choice. Thank you! We will be back.
(5)Alexis T.
I went here for lunch and it was fabulous. I got the portobello veggie panini and had to take leftovers home, even better. the bar staff was slow and didn't attend us until we were read to be seated.
(4)Eddie G.
Very tasty though a trifle pricy. All our food is good. Waiters were attentive. Saw that some people complained about service in past. Not the case today.
(4)Ili V.
The food was amazing, the service excelent, and the place really cozy. Everybody treated us so well. It was just a pleasure to have dinner here.
(5)Craig A.
Great food! I'd say mediocre service at best. Our server lacked experience but wasn't bad. Overall great night eating here.
(4)Debbie M.
First visit over a year ago, food was excellent, service good. Visit a few months ago, service was lousy, food was just okay. Last night, service was EXCELLENT from hostesses and our waiter, Jonathon W. My soup that Jonathon recommended was superb, a cream based soup with oysters and artichokes. Could have been warmer temp. Delish. The Asian almond chicken salad was overdressed and the Miso Ginger Shrimp special had too much sauce. The grits were amazing!!!! Hit or miss on the food And their service.
(3)Robin D.
I'm not sure why the reviews are so high on this place. It wasn't particularly bad food, it just wasnt good. We tried the duck empanadas, which were good but over priced at $10 for 4...and I would never describe them as amazing. The panini was tasteless, I have had better paninis at panera bread. The fish was eh...I season fish better at home. The sides were just as tasteless as the main entree. Our bill was 60 bucks for food that I could have prepared better at home. The portions were average. Overall I felt ripped off. Bathroom was dirty, there wasn't even any soap in one of the dispensers. I really expect a whole lot more from what is supposed to be an upscale restaurant. Honestly, I would rate chick fila higher than this place. Don't wast your money, go to one of the much better restaurants in Lafayette. I have had better seasoned food from gas stations.
(2)Sean C.
I really don't understand the hype on this place. I've had better ribs many other places for a fraction of the price. The chicken was really good but overall the price and the food don't match. Lower the price, it would have been better but deftinately not worth the price unless you can't cook and you have money.
(2)Meg R.
Very varied menu of classic America food, with a special focus on South classics like hush puppies, braised cabbage, corn grits, burgers, ribs, etc. We had the hush puppies which were some of the best I ever had - savory and not too fried. We also had braised cabbage which was amazing and I'd definitely get again. I had the Kobe beef cheeseburger which I ordered rare and came out beautifully done. I had broccoli on the side which was brown on the bottom, as though it had been cut awhile ago, but still - it was steamed well so as not to lose it's crispness. My friend had the fried shrimp which were fresh and tasty. The waitstaff were kind and knowledegeable about the food. The ambiance is very laid back, although the place looks very nice throughout. You could come here for a very nice dinner or equally with friends to hang out and pay a little bit for good food.
(4)Lily M.
I always enjoy coming here. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or an outing with a group of friends. They have really good martini's to go along with their asian almond shrimp. The shrimp is packed with seasoning. The thai ribs are also really good and tender with a lot of zesty flavor. I'm a pasta kind of girl so I like to order their shrimp breaux bridge pasta. It's so "Louisiana"! I definitely recommend trying Zea out, but be prepared to wait if you don't call in because it is always crowded.
(4)Martina G.
Be prepared to wait for a table. Luckily there was a Friday night special on margaritas. Helps to pass the 30-45 minute wait for our large party. The ambiance is what you'd want for a date if you're trying to avoid silence. It gets pretty noisy in the place. The menu is diverse to include pastas, salads, seafood, etc. Something for everyone with a Cajun twist. Portions were big enough to take almost half of my food home.
(3)G B.
This place is a treat. Thai ribs, corn grits, and Thai snap beans are what I get each time. They also had a house beer that was quite good. Wish I could buy locally.
(5)Megan S.
I've been coming to this place for years. It's a great place to get really good food and not spend quite as much as some other places. I absolutely adore the thai style ribs with corn grits and zea potatoes, but their rotisserie meat of the day has always been very good as well.
(4)T D.
I don't give five stars very often but they deserve it never disappointing
(5)David Z.
We were treated to Sunday brunch at Zea's, and a treat it was. Thai ribs, roasted corn grits and dirty rice were my choices, and my wife had crab cakes (with two interesting sauces). Our hosts shared a shrimp special. The dinnerware was trendy, the Mediterranean hummus appetizer was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. A chat with the owner helped us understand the theme and intent of the place. If we lived in Louisiana, we would be regulars.
(4)April D.
All I can say about Zea is ...excellent. everything is good. I am officially a corn grits junkie. Steaks are seared to perfection, the chicken that I ordered was very tender and juicy. I always leave with more than enough left over to eat for a week. This place is excellent. I try to go at least once a week
(5)Ginger D.
My husband and I love to eat at Zea, and I've never been disappointed in any of their food. It can get pretty crowded and loud at times, and if you go on Thursday through Saturday night, you should be prepared to wait for a table. No worries though, you can have a chocolate martini in the bar while you wait. They are scrumptious! Our favorite appetizer is the Duck Empanadas which are little bundles of cheesy goodness served with a tangy and spicy marmalade for dipping. Yum! But, when I go for lunch with my co-workers, we usually go for the Mediterranean Hummus. It's loaded with toppings and equally delicious, but you'll probably have to ask for extra pita bread. For entrees, my hubby usually goes for the rotisserie platter of the day, whatever it may be. His favorite though is the Braised Provimi Veal & Natural au Jus. It's always tender and full of rich flavor. I prefer to bounce around the menu since everything is good. Some favorites include the Asian Tuna Salad, Wet Ribs, Balsamic Salmon, and the Pesto-Crusted Trout. My side dishes of choice are Thai Snap Beans which are tangy and satisfyingly crunchy and the always tasty Roasted Corn Grits - a Zea classic. I have never had bad service at Zea, even though the wait time for a table can get pretty long. This place is also great for large tables looking to have fun and laugh as loud as they want. If privacy is what you prefer, they also have a back room which can be reserved on week nights.
(4)Tammy B.
Read all the reviews which were mostly positive; however, I was somewhat disappointed. I thought the food was good but not worth the price I paid. Try it for yourself. I usually do not pay attention to negative comments.
(3)Christy L.
The food is definitely 5 stars! But the service is very slow (all 6 times) and its a little too dark in side. Servers are all very nice though! I absolutely live the Korean BBQ Tacos, the corn grits and the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding. They are all must tries!
(3)Clare M.
The only thing that really comes to mind is the noise "bah." The food is fine, there is nothing wrong with it, but there is nothing about it that EVER comes to mind when I'm hungry. Admittedly, the corn grits are really good, but still don't stand out enough in my mind to get me to frequent here but maybe once a year. The restaurant for some reason is quite possibly the loudest building in Southwestern Louisiana...either that or the lunch crowd is a bunch of obnoxious fools (Since both are likely true, it makes for a bad combination for lunch with anyone other than the voices in your head which you still strain to hear.)
(2)Sarah K.
Great food, excellent service!
(5)Brad P.
One of the best and most consistent restaurants in Lafayette. They are known for their rotisserie meats and ribs, but the Southern Fried Catfish is the most underrated item on the menu. Good craft beer brewed by Heiner Brau out of Covington, LA too.
(5)Ben H.
I went here based on the glowing reviews but left unimpressed. The food was mediocre at best and the beer selection was poor. I may have had a better experience if I had been seated at a table versus the bar (I was traveling alone). As it was, the whole experience was far less than impressive.
(3)Miss C.
Okay it is true. the noisy atmosphere is a very big detractor. beyond that, however, the food is pretty good (mostly) and the service is quite nice. the menu has a good variety of salads, meats, specialty drinks and the like. The rotisserie pork loin is good, but the sauce tastes like a scoop of commercial demiglace stirred in water with a blob of cornstarch added for thickening. it is okay, but not great. it just tastes...commercial. Now the Mediterreanean hummus is different. That dish is fresh and nicely done, although the kalamata olives are of a somewhat lower grade, which is okay, given that this is a grill place, not a Greek place, per se. Zea is recommended if you don't mind chatter and recommended if you can get a booth, especially!
(4)Amanda M.
After a long flight from Hawaii, we stopped here for lunch. I've never been a fan of grits until I tried their roasted corn grits- delicious! We also tried the Asian Almond Shrimp. It had very nice flavor, but the dipping sauce was a bit salty. Their lunch menu is very afforable, so if you are in the area, it is worth checking out!
(4)Nicolle M.
Visiting for the first time to Lafayette, a co-worker took me here for lunch. They were doing some renovations so limited grilled options on this day. My guest was upset because main goal was to order their Duck Empanadas. Instead, we got the Mediterranean Hummus (yummy!!!) and the Veal (yummy) for lunch. Have a big lunch crowd so we sat at the bar. Service was good. Would go back on my next trip to town.
(3)John L.
Ive been to the one in Baton Rouge and since this is a chain restraunt the food is exactly the same. Its not anything I get excited abuot and if the corn grits is what everyone talks about then wow yeah I could go eat somewhere else. Im not a fan of franchise at all. I wouldn't eat here again. They do have good microbrew beer though. thats tight as hell
(2)Robert O.
The food is always great as well as the service. There usually is a little wait but there is a nice bar to enjoy some drinks while waiting. Ribs ribs ribs and corn grits!!!!!!
(4)Christopher W.
A decent place to get a meal, but has very limited food options, mainly fish. Slow service as well
(3)Luke L.
Zea is consistently rated the Best Restaurant in Lafayette by the Times poll and perhaps rightfully so. The rotisserie chickens are the best you will eat anywhere at any time. The fish is excellent and all of the sides are incredible. Especially, as mentioned before, the corn grits. The microbrews are pretty good, as well. By "pretty good", I mean that they're much, much better than any import/domestic you're going to find on the shelf at most bars or restaurants, but not quite up to par with many other microbrews. The amber has a deep, refreshing taste that resembles a slightly more flavorful Abita Amber.
(4)Charles J.
One of the BEST in Lafayette. I love the corn grits and most items on the menu. When they are busy they tend to under cook the fish. Regardless, I would still say one of the BEST.
(4)Linda S.
I agree with Clare regarding the noise and the obnoxious patrons. They really believe to be "somewhere," though there is a lot of that gowing around in this town. The food is decent, however, I often feel rushed by my waitserver. Be forewarned that if you order take-out, there is a good chance your they will screw up your order. This has happened several times with us. My menu favs? The martinis and the Mediterranean Hummus. That's really all you need.
(3)Leslie G.
Ok so my husband and I decided to go to zea for lunch, Though normally zea is one of my favorite franchises .. this kind of dampened out experience. My husband ordered a bottled beer which was poured into a frosted glass and started drinking it.. he commented that it tasted funny like bleach or something.. So we figured that perhaps that particular glass had not been properly rinsed. We ordered a second glass and another beer.. Unfortunately same problem.. My guess is that somehow that batch of dishes wasn't properly rinsed.. so we ordered a soda in a regular glass instead of a beer in a frosted beer mug. Zea's corn grits are simply amazing ,Zea's Mediterranean humus is some of the best humus available in a chain .. beat in my opinion only by Mellow mushroom which is a chain pizza place( which unfortunately there is none in Lafayette or near Lafayette) .. other than the tainted beer glass Zea's is and exceptional chain.. we will not let one bad experience keep us from going back.
(4)Scott R. D.
Had a nice lunch there today. My étouffée was good, the corn grits were great and the people who got sandwiches loved them. The service was fine, but we were sure glad we got there before the lunch rush began.
(4)Tory T.
One of my favorite restaurants in Lafayette. EVERYONE loves Zea's. The appetizer hummus are to die for and so are the Asian Almond shrimp. I strongly suggest these two. My husband gets the Thai ribs and he says they are the best ribs that he's eaten anywhere-they fall off the bone.
(5)John G.
Lafayette is blessed to have some of the best food in south Louisiana. Zea is a great place to eat with a pretty good variety of options. Be sure to order the humus for an appetizer and try the corn grits as a side option.
(4)Mark S.
Always great food, and usually very good service with the white table cloth atmosphere in the main dining room. However, our last visit (for our Valentine's dinner Saturday) was less than the treat I had hoped for. The server was excellent, prompt, bubbly, and not bothersome, and the Thai ribs, Thai green beans, corn grits, and veal were all excellent. But after waiting for an hour (they do NOT accept reservations, only a "call ahead" which this night saved very little wait time), instead of being given a regular table, we were led to a lousy booth table next to the bar, (Fine if we were offered that in lieu of a table to be seated more quickly, but that was not the case.) Kitchen & Bar noise and traffic made the atmosphere only slightly less romantic than McDonald's, though admittedly with much better food. If I had it to do again, I'd have ordered to-go, had my own table cloth, maybe music and candle light, with no rowdy bar patrons. It is wrong to "stretch" your regular service by providing a bar table in lieu of regular seating without the option given to the patron. Had this been my first visit, I'm not sure I'd go back.
(4)Emily L.
the service was good. The ribs are too fatty but the rotisserie beef and chicken are very good. Spinach salad is the best!
