This place is AWESOME!!!! Let me just get it out there, this isn't really a restaurant. This is a pick it up and go type of place, I stopped here on the way to NOLA and I have to tell you I was so happy I did. It totally set the tone for the rest of the trip, and I am now a firm believer that you should always travel with locals! If not for my friends, I would've never know that such greatness existed. This reminds me of a place I used to go to a lot in Houston, On a street corner in the hood, Asians in kitchen working magic! I tried the Popcorn Shrimp, the shrimps where the size of regular shrimps you buy here in Texas, and they where very good the batter was just right, the tarter sauce was better than any other ones I've tried. We also got an order of the Chicken Strips we got five, and they where so big the three of us shared and still had some left over when we checked into our hotel room in NOLA. I'm sure that if I lived in Lafayette I'd be a regular at Steven's. But since I'm in Texas, the memories of good food will have to do until next time.

Don't ever judge a restaurant by its exterior....or interior. Actually lets not call this a restaurant. Steven's is a hut that sells the best fried foods you can imagine in a slightly shady area. However, let's focus on the fact that it's delicious! The chicken wings, chicken strips, the fried shrimp, the fried fish. Everything you can imagine fried, and super delicious. The special made honey mustard is the best, and incomparable. The chicken strips are so much larger than Cane's! Seriously -- it's almost the size of an entire chicken breast, almost. The fried rice also has a kick to it, for the plain fried rice that comes with fried foods. Best for parties, call ahead and order, it will satisfy everyone! Don't plan on eating there, it won't happen. And I think they're closed on Sunday's.

Sketchy area but good food! Everything fried here is delicious, crispy, and seasoned well; dip in the mustard they give you...artery-clogging heaven. The fried rice is on fire too with a kick of spice. Can't eat here all the time due to health-consciousness, but they seem to always be busy. It's order/takeout only. I found a hair in my dried rice. I'm upset, but man...it was 5 stars good...before the hair.

I was in town for UL vs SU game and I googled seafood and this popped up and I'm so glad I did. I will make sure to always come here when I visit from Texas. It's a hole in the wall but those are the best places to me. People stop in it's the best! Had shrimp, fish and shrimp rice the best I have had in a long time. Only thing I wish it had a place to sit inside and eat so we ate in the car...but it's was awesome food!

Steven's is bliss. I don't know why anyone would order anything other than the chicken strips and fried rice... Other than pure ignorance. The chicken is a little spicy, and might remind you of that on the way out.. But it is soooo good! Don't keep the styrofoam box closed or else the breading will get soggy. Just go. Eat it. It's in the ghetto, and the food makes up for the view.

I've been hearing about this place for years... And I honestly can't tell why. It's just a plain, and limited lunch plate menu which is mostly composed by a lot of deep fried stuff... It's cheap and pretty close to home, which is the only reason why I'd probably go back. Otherwise, pretty forgettable. If you must... try the fried pork chop. (Might as well right?)

Ohhhhhh Man!!!! I'm salivating just writing this review! Steven's is amazing! This place is a legend among the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. Need I say more? Well I will. I hate honey-mustard, but if all honey-mustard was like Steven's, then I'd be a believer! I hate seafood, but their skrimp (shrimp) is amazing! Their chicken fingers are so fat and juicy, I wish Steven would expand, but from what I hear, it's family owned and they want it to stay that way, although I did happen upon a place in New Iberia whose owner said they were Steven's niece or nephew, can't quite remember. Anyway, this place is always packed, and looks like a dive, but tastes like fine dining!

Went to Stevens with a friend randomly and immediately had a flashback! I grew up in NOLA and the best part about living their isn't the fancy restaurants, it's the store you find on the corner of your "hood". This place reminds me of just that, a corner store somewhere in the city. I ordered the SMALL catfish plate. This came with 4 pieces of fish, a roll and a choice of shrimp fried rice or fries and tartar sauce. And a drink. Paid about $8 for everything. The fish: flaky, tender, not fishy tasting or smelling! It tasted like they used hot sauce in their batter. The fried rice: MEH. Dry, not super flavorful, shrimp pieces (not a whole shrimp in the plate) was just a flavor changer between bites of fish for me. Tartar sauce and roll: sauce was okay. Roll was right out of the package. They have Big Shots! My favorite. They didn't have pineapple though so color me sad. The place itself is tight and smack dab in the hood. My kind of place honestly. LOL. Overall, I would come back but wouldn't get fried rice. They're pretty fast too.

Huge chicken fingers and very well seasoned fried fish and shrimp. Fried rice is hard and without much flavor. The dipping sauce (honey mustard) is very good and spicy. The tartar sauce is lacking in flavor. 98% mayo with very little other flavors. With that said - if you are looking for fried chicken or seafood - this is the spot. Drive through only .....

If you have ever had the chicken wings at Manchu on Claiborne in New Orleans and loved it then this is your fix until you can get back to New Orleans period. It's soul food at a good price. Keep in mind it's a takeout place so don't dress up for the Steven"s but do bring an empty stomach because the food is that good. Just a have place to eat it

Great plate lunches. The BEST Chicken Fingers in town!
