The meal was excellent the waitstaff was very good the atmosphere was very good with all that said I personally feel the prices are over the top by about 20 percent and the amount of the sides were a bit over the top. As just an average middle class family the price and the waste off food limits how often we can eat there

We went here with friends for a light meal in the bar while visiting Lafayette, Louisiana. They are from Australia, and we wanted them to experience a Ruth's Chris. We have been to over a dozen other Ruth's Chris Restaurants, and this one fell a bit short. The service was decent but the bartender was not as attentive as he could have been. My chopped salad was excellent, but my wife's shoestring potatoes and spinach au gratin were only slightly warm-certainly not hot. Given the usual outstanding experience we have come to expect, we felt that our visit to this restaurant felt a bit short of our expectations.

This place is first class. Everything from the welcoming to the food to the goodbye was perfect. Service absolutely impeccable. Made you feel like you were the only couple in the place and they were dedicating all their service to you. From the ahi appetizer to the lettuce wedge and lobster bisque to the steaks their is no doubt their chefs strive for perfection and no doubt they reach that goal. We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary and they gave us a complimentary desert that we would have gladly paid for. A pineapple cake with vanilla ice cream. Amazing. Of course it's very expensive but there is no doubt where we will go for our special occasions.

Great Service from quality service professional. The atmosphere is very relaxing and clean. The lobsters are huge and humanly housed while alive in a larger than usually tank that was also clean. The sweet potatoes are really good. Food was also presented well with large portions.

Went there last night. Always ask for table in bar as dining room has zero atmosphere. Great waiter comfortable seating. Only fair wine list, good bartender. I split Cesar salad And porter house steak. Poor salad and terrible steak, I did not pay so don't know cost. I had a N Y strip last time, same quality; terrible Shame on me!!!

Go to the happy hour! Everything is 8$! The steak sandwich is amazing with bernaise sauce. It's totally worth more than 8 bucks. Everything on the happy hour food menu is deliiiiish!!! It's weekdays from 4 to 7. I can't afford regular menu Ruth's Chris because I am a student. But happy hour menu is affordable. It's great for date night. I found out about the happy hour at the ruths in nola, and was excited when i found out they had it in lafayette as well. I feel like no young people know about it, because it's mostly older people. But younger people should go!

We enjoyed an exquisite dining experience! So delicious and our waiter, Elmer, was the best!! It was probably the best I personally have ever had!! And I was able to share it with my absolute best friend, my husband of 45 years!!

Thank goodness it was open for Easter! In for business. Had a taste for steak. Needed a break from the Cajun food. I had petite filet and added crusted blue cheese crumbles with garlic. The best steak I had in awhile. Was surprised it was rarely good size for a petite. So flavorable I didn't need sauce. Ordered medium and was cooked perfect. Loved that the steak was so hot you could here it sizzling! Ordered asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Wasn't impressed. Was over cooked and the sauce hardly had any flavor. Service was great! Charles had many suggestions and knew a lot about the menu. For dessert I had joeys special. It was ice cream drink with a few liqueurs. Very tasty. But unfortunately didn't sit well with my stomach. Spent the rest of the evening on toilet...don't recommend that drink. Lol. However the restaurant was very clean and had a fancy feel. The bathroom had an awesome vanilla smell. Food lil pricey but worth every dollar. Will definitely return

Young couples beware! I have been to this location twice. Once for a birthday party with a few older people and for my anniversary. When I was with the older crowd, the service was superb. However, when I returned for my anniversary the service was HORRIBLE! The waiter was much more concerned with helping the older and wealthier customers there. Throughout the night the bus girl had to come and refill our drinks because we were being ignored. The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because the food and atmosphere are always top notch.

Fine dining and service awaits you at Ruth's Chris Steak House. My first visit to Ruth's hooked me. I had the Lobster bisque, a filet, and flourless chocolate cake with raspberry puree. The flourless chocolate cake with raspberry puree, though no longer offered, is a memory that today still has an impression on me. The filets are unmatched. I've had steak from Fleming's (out-of-state) and other places, but Ruth's tops the list. The steak is cooked in high-temperature ovens using a blend of herbs and plenty of butter to keep it moist. The steak is served on an 500ºF plate and sizzles on its way to alert you dinner is served. The servers and server assistants provide first class service, which is what separates Ruth's from other places that might offer similar menu choices. This is exactly what you should expect when you visit. During my last visit, I was taken care of completely. It's as if there is someone watching your table by the minute: water goblets are refilled without delay, and plates are removed instantly. Bread crumbs are cleaned also before the next course. Your server asks how your food is, but you never feel he or she is intruding upon your meal. If there is ever a question or an issue, expect a manager to be at your table to resolve it. Steak not perfect? No problem, another will be out shortly, and the manager will deliver it personally and stand by while you cut into it to make sure it's right. You never have to ask for this or that. What you need is always offered to you just at the right moment. Again, this is what makes Ruth's an experience in itself - not just the food. As far as the wine, at the Lafayette, LA, location I am reviewing, there is no sommelier (wine steward professional), but the staff does make decent recommendations. Of course, the award-winning wine list is broad and includes favorites for those with some tasting experience. That said, Ruth's holds its own very well. It's true that a place of its nature will draw a certain crowd, but that is expected. You don't have to dress up to eat here: jeans and a button down shirt are ok; but, observe and you will see that there is obviously somewhat a dress code if you want to fit in. Showing up in a sports jersey with flip-flops and a cap will make you stick out like a sore thumb (unless you're with the mayor). I can't afford to eat at Ruth's often but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it once a year or so for a special occasion. I skip out on the wine and park my own car, and with a fair (20%) tip, I spend about $55 on myself including an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Note: At the time of this review, Ruth's Lafayette does not open until 5pm Mon-Thu. It opens at 12PM Fri-Sun. Call ahead for details before you plan to visit.

Hands down, this is my favorite steak house in America. It is truly a fine dining establishment, so you should be prepared to dress up. The steaks are seared to perfection at 1800 degrees and then topped with fresh butter and placed on a 500 degree plate, so the steak sizzles all the way to your table. I have always ordered their filet which is the most tender cut of corn-fed Midwestern beef. With my steak, I always order a caesar salad, which has the most delicious, creamy caesar dressing on it. I also usually order au gratin potatoes (Idaho sliced potatoes with a three cheese sauce...melt in your mouth good) and creamed spinach topped with melted sharp cheddar (easily the best side dish on their menu...even friends of mine who do not like spinach love the creamed spinach). Ruth's Chris also serves amazing flaky bread with every meal. While you are at this fine establishment, you will truly be treated like royalty. I will frequent this establishment until I die.

Overpriced heart attack on a plate. The waitress warned us not to talk to our cardiologist after eating there, after a first taste of an oily salad I could see why, this place has the greasiest food on the planet! Butter-drowned everything, and uber-expensive! Does a cardiac catheterization come with dessert? Yuck!!!

I tried this restaurant twice before commenting because I thought maybe the cook had a bad day the first time I went. Basically, their steak is awful (not marinated & hardly seasoned at all) & their chicken is extremely dry. The entrees and sides are all greasy. The wait staff is very courteous and attentive, but unfortunately that's not enough for me to return to this restaurant. I've been to 5 star restaurants all over the country & this is definitely not one of them.

The filet was the best steak I have ever had. Lean and tender, which is a very hard combination to achieve. My dad also got the new york strip, which was also the best New York Strip I have ever tasted. The wait staff were very helpful and friendly, and all seemed to get along well, almost like a family. Their bread pudding and creme brule were delicious and I certainly want to come back!!!

This place and Texas de Brazil run a tight race. The food is worth every penny you pay for it, and you definitely pay enough for it. If you can manage to get a reservation to go there, do it. You won't be disappointed. Try the Fried Lobster appetizer while you're there. Yum!
