Surprisingly amazing... It's rare that I get pleasantly surprised by a restaurant but the food here was outstanding, period. The decor and bar area, like many Asian restaurants, was shoddy at best but who cares when the food was this damn good. Best meal I have had in Lafayette thus far hands down, and I doubt that anything else will top it anytime soon.

Still some of the best Thai food I've ever had. And as I've mentioned in another review, I live in Houston (aka Little Asia). Their basil chicken is in my top 3 asian chicken dishes.

I've now eaten at Pimon Thai ten times or more and it is fabulous each and every time. I need to venture out beyond my staples but they are all so good that I am having a hard time ordering other dishes... So if you have one of the below dishes and you think it sucks, it probably doesn't. -- Pho - This is not the Pho you get in a Viet place, but the Thai interpretation of it. I get it with the glass noodles as I prefer them to the thicker Thai noodles they normally use. I also get it with chicken. It is spicier than the Viet pho, has more green vegetables in it, but is equally as satisfying. -- Beef with ginger sauce. I didn't like this dish at first, but as I continued to inhale it, it got better. Not sure why.. oh wait, maybe it was because of the fact that it took a while for me to get used to my mouth being ON FIRE as I was eating it. I only ordered it medium hot, but it was way hot. After the blazing cauldron in my mouth settled a bit, I really enjoyed it. -- Thai fried rice. OMG!!! This stuff is so good it puts to shame the fried rice I have had at many good chinese places. Spicier than the chinese version, with so much flavor. Wow! Pimon Thai's ingredients are all so fresh and lack the chemicals used in a lot of chinese cooking like MSG and the other crap used in many chinese sauces. That is probably why I always feel satiated but not stuffed or stomach upset like after eating at a chinese buffet or a steakhouse. The service here is superb, friendly and efficient. David, Pam and Tina are all great, and its obvious they enjoy working there... Again, five stars all the way for Pimon Thai.

I am so happy that there is such a fantastic Thai restaurant in Lafayette! I have never experienced anything other than great service & great food! I love the vegetable red curry, tom kah, spring rolls, & of course thai tea! mmm mm mm!

Thai cuisine... Tasty... Worth your time... Not being a real fan of Thai cuisine, or curry-based food, I was fairly reluctant to give this place a try. Well, I'm glad I did! After several visits, I found that I've enjoyed a number of their dishes, with some of them being absolutely delicious. The appetizers are most tempting. The spring rolls are fresh and well-prepared. Likewise with a fried shrimp dish. The pad thai was light and tasty. I'd never tried it before and found it surprisingly good. The biggest surprise, though, was a house specialty dish called Hod Thoy. Unlike many other "saucy" dishes, this one is fairly "dry". It featured some stir-fried seafood with bean sprouts. Between the flavors and the textures, it was hard to describe... but incredibly delicious. The place is clean and inviting. The service was polite, friendly, and helpful. All-in-all, especially if you're not a fan of Thai food, give these folks a try!

Best authentic Thai food in Lafayette. Excellent service and great staff. The pad si ew is the best. Order hot!

I have been here twice and both times I have been disappointed. I thought the the first time was just a fluke. Nope still was not happy. First time we didn't get exactly what we ordered and then we get the wrong receipt. Second time I wanted a sauce that they served the first time and they had no idea what came with their own plate. My dad had to make the sauce I was looking for. They did not listen to what I was asking. They just kept bringing me sauce from the back. Never again :(

There for the first time tonight. The waiter kept asking over, over if we had picked something (within the first five minutes of sitting down). My drink was way to week my grandmother even said she couldn't taste a hint of liquor. My food was horrible the vegetables in the stir fry were totally raw, and the meat was over cooked, I asked for hot and it had no heat too it. Don't recommended this place to anyone from this experience.

I've been to Thailand, lived in NYC, Houston and LA so I know my Thai. This place started off well enough. It had a picture of the King on the wall (if not go elsewhere). The prices were ok and the portions were on the small size but still healthy. I had the Red Curry and Tom Kah and asked for it medium spicy. I thought the vegetables didn't taste very fresh. The mushrooms were nice but the tomatoes (a first for me in a Tom Kah) were kind of off. I also think the chicken was a pretty poor cut. Although it was white meat, it just wasn't good. The lemongrass was very brown and wilted. The chili oil seemed almost gelled and the coconut milk tasted more like evaporated milk. The Red curry was more of the same, but without the normal oily goodness of a curry paste. All in, I think this place was bland and more of a stop for the entry level Pad Thai consumer who wants "CHINESE" food.

Fried tofu was pitiful, but that's probably because I was expecting something closer to what I ate when I lived in China so they get a pass on that. It was still pretty mushy though, and shouldn't be served with that sweet, sticky pepper glaze sauce. Then I ordered the Chu Chee with shrimp. I love hot food so I ordered it "Thai hot". Well, that meant a ton of habanero blended into the coconut milk sauce. It was delicious for about two minutes before I gave up. I'm not a Thai expert, but I'm not so sure that they use habanero if they want to spice it up. Just more curry or red pepper. I didn't mind the taste at all, it was great. They just put too much habanero in it. Pull back on those reins a little bit, and it would have been a solid 4 star dish.

The service was fast and the wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is really good and most items can be customized. My sister is vegan and had no problem finding something to eat. We had the spring rolls and we each had a different curry. Everything tasted homemade and fresh.

Can't count the number of times I have been here on all of my fingers and toes. BEST Thai food in Lafayette. Always fresh and amazing quality. Top 10 restaurants in town in my book. EDIT: So Pimon Thai has re-opened after their kitchen sadly burned down. And I have to say, they are back and better than EVER! We went and shared plates of our favorites, and it seemed as though their portions got larger as well. Their return was MUCH anticipated, and definitely didn't let us down!

Food was all Ok here. The dishes all look better than they are. And it is quite an Americanized version of Thai. I have been here twice and finally decided to look elsewhere for Thai in Lafayette. With such great reviews I thought the place would be outstanding. I came to the conclusion that people in this town do not really know real Thai. Well, maybe not just yet. I will have to try other places. Thai food is one of the healthiest on the planet, specially if minimal oil is used. But not here. They cannot stir-fry a dish without it having breaded and oily thick sauces to their plates a la General Tso's chicken. This is still a good alternative to junk Chinese food and more flavorful but it is not authentic. Junk food. They take pretty dishes with fresh ingredients and turn it into junk food. It is still edible and tastes OK , but it is just not the real thing, people. The first time I was there I ordered a couple of dishes that I know well and did not expect them to come out like this. But both came out like this. I did not say anything. On the second visit, I specifically ordered a non-breaded stir fry. Fifteen minutes later the lady came out and told me no one in the kitchen knows how to do this! Where do these people come from? Take-out Chinese? So I ordered a curry. Not bad. Not great. Stick with those or the soups. I did not see any problem with the size of the portions. More food and I would be sick. I still left feeling let down. I could not get any chicken, pork, shrimp, or beef dish without it being heavily breaded and loaded with oily sauces. I wondered if this place could survive in this town if they did it right. I will reserve my judgement until I visit the other Thai food joints.

Soup was excellent. Had a curry dish with chicken that was average at best. Decor is subpar. Not much to recommend for a dining experience

Tight with the portions. I came here for lunch HUNGRY. Ordered the pad kee mou which is spicy hot basil and chili pepper pasta with wide rice noodles. The flavors was good but the portion size left me still hungry. Service was also very slow. Overall the food was good, but if I'm really hungry I'll look elsewhere.

This is a frequent lunch spot for me and my older brother. It is DELICIOUS! I have never been disappointed. Some of our favorites include the spring rolls, Tom Kah (lemon grass soup with coconut milk), Tom Yum (lemon grass soup), Pad Ka Prao (basil stir fry with light sauce), Pad Priew Wan (sweet and sour stir fry), Pad Si Ew (sweet noodle stir fry), Gang Dang (red curry), and Gang Panang (curry with lime leaves). The service has always been good and friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back and casual. I suggest going with a group, each ordering something different, and passing the dishes around. We did that on my first trip, and I've been totally hooked ever since!

While Thai Cuisine does have superior curry dishes to Pimon, Pimon Thai has far, FAR superior noodle selections. Try the Pad Kee Mou (number 24). They will make just about anything vegan or vegetarian and the tofu is cooked to perfection! UPDATE: I still eat here all the time, but the waitstaff seems to be suffering. The last two visits this week I waited entirely too long to order then waited even longer for my food. Still very delicious food, but do make sure you are in no rush.

Home run! Ask for bird's nest potatoes as an app. It's not on the menu, but our waiter, Doyle, was awesome and suggested it. Gang dang was perfect too- medium spice is just right. We will definitely be back soon!

Absolutely the best curry in town. The service is adequate and food is always fresh and cooked to perfection.

plainly stated, this fine eatery is the reason for which my small, insignificant life has meaning and beauty. the egg rolls there are the only things to bring joy to my life. their crunchy exterior and delicious interior, along with the peanut sauce, are the only reminders i have of my ex. moreover, let's give due respect to that impeccable cucumber soup which slapped my face hole with its mighty fist of deliciousness and strength. served in a beautifully antique cast iron bowl, it serenaded my nasal passages with its fragrant splendor. upon the first bite, i was well prepared to readily engage in an orchestra of love and flavor with this innocent cup of soup. as my other dishes arrived, i dived into the food orgy before my face. i devoured the cashew chicken, the buttery nuts sensually caressing my tongue with every enveloping bite..... and then, as the beautiful waiter delivered me a free bowl of sticky, sticky rice with sugary sauce i squealed from pure ecstasy....as i shared in this cultural experience and milestone at this historical landmark, i looked back on my life and finally made good with my sister for stealing my american girl doll. metaphorically, i was choking on mediocrity and was saved by this restaurant's excellent staff, who try harder than lou ferrigno. in essence, if you've ever considered another restaurant when asking yourself where to eat, do all of us a favor and slap yourself in the brain for thinking that. always always go to pimon thai. always.

Being originally from the Bay Area, which has a bevy of wonderful Thai restaurants, I was a bit scared to try Louisiana Thai. It turns out, at least in respect to Pimon, that my fears were unfounded. Between my wife and I we had an order of spring rolls, which were recommended by everyone, an order of beef and broccoli and an order of sweet and sour chicken. The rolls were great and clearly fresh, not the fried rolls but the regular ones. Both the entrees were good, with the chicken being the better of the two in a sweet and sour sauce that was wonderfully light and not overly syrupy. Prices are okay, maybe a bit high compared to other Thai joints, but when the food is good I don't count pennies. I do wish the menu had a bit more variety, most notably Moo Yang or barbecued pork was sadly missing, as pad Thai and variations on it dominate the menu. Over all a good experience and we will return.
