Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I do not know how to delete this so I will add to it. I was able to reach a manager by the name of Chris through facebook. He apologized a hundred times not only for the charges on my card but for the way it was handled. He then refunded the amount to my card immediately. FYI there is a management team. Thank you Chris

Visiting from out of town and wanted some Mexican food and margaritas! Unfortunately I found this place to be overpriced for what you get... And the quality of the food wasn't as I expected. It was also really loud because of the live music over in the bar; made having conversation hard.

I've eaten at Picante a bunch of times... probably at least five in the last 4-5 years. It really is decent sometimes, but the food is so uneven, and the quality varies so much from dish to dish and visit to visit that I can't give it more then 3 stars. I've had brisket tacos that were good, chicken tacos that were OK, but other times they served something so horrible that it made me queasy... I believe it was their burger. Don't get it. I you're in the Carencro area Picante is about the best you can do, and if you're lucky you just might get a good meal here.

This was possibly the worst dining experience of my life. Our table of 3 was sat within in 10 minutes of a party of 20 and another party of 2, all with one server. We were also sat right next to the large party, although plenty of tables were available. The live music started and was so loud I couldn't hear the friend right next to me. Please note it was one guy with an acoustic guitar being this loud. I ordered the fajita chicken quesadilla and it was disgusting. It was loaded with grease, cheap cheese & some kind of nasty, burnt/smoke flavored sauce. The food is very over priced for what you get. The table side guacamole was great & the service good, considering the server was ridiculously over sat in his section. I will never return to waste my money here. Good luck if you decide to give this place a try.

The food and service were fine. Very loud music started at 7 PM. This really fouled what started as a pleasant dinner. We asked them to turn the volume down but they didn't. It was difficult to converse. Dinner became unpleasant.

I am kinda (very) biased because I used to work here for a while, but this is some of the best Mexican food you can get in Lafayette. Everything on the menu is pretty great. I recommend the Fajitas, Quesadillas or Enchiladas. The Jalapeño Relish and Corn Cake are too good to relegate them to garnish status. There is a special, much hotter house-made salsa that you can ask for instead of the regular salsa, if that's your thing. They do karaoke on certain nights of the week and have a bunch of live music on other nights. They are great about big groups and reservations, but dont think you're going to reserve a table in the bar and bring kids: everyone has to be 21 in the bar and they dont play around with that.

Great karaoke dj Rex had everyone lagging and joining in along with his song. Food was good but our server don't know her name she was the short heavy set one that could never be found or bothered to help out with orders or just to be seen. Might give it a try again and hope for a better server the next go round and go durin the week.

If you are truly desperate for Mexican and you live in the area, make the drive into Lafayette and skip Picante. Waiting 15 minutes for a margarita served in a plastic cup with no salt or lime and which was also rather overpriced and weak, then having to go track down the server who was supposed to deliver it to you and pick it up is unacceptable. Especially when there are all of maybe 3 tables in the entire freaking restaurant. I am not sure how this place manages to stay open with service like this. I will NOT be back.

Great hot sauce, great food, love the jalapeño relish! Our server was VERY unfriendly tho. I would rate 5 stars if weren't for that.

This place is a tradition for my family. This is my brother's favorite mexican place and we come here every year for his birthday. One thing we don't have in New York is good mexican options outside of Chipotle.

Great food, I was very impressed with the salsa and the price was fair as well. Google navigation however will not get you to the right place. It is on the I-45 frontage road 2 exits north of I-10.
