How far they've fallen. Been going to Mellow Mushroom since living in Atlanta in the 90s. The MM execution in Lafayette leaves so much to be desired. Two visits in a row resulted in burnt pizzas. Not just overly brown, downright bottom crust black. This last one was take out and so bad that wife called the manager to complain. Major apologies ensued and email requested so a gift card could be sent. Right. I'm sure they're busy and will get around to it. There's stiff pizza competition in Lafayette and MM just dropped to last place. It's been rumored that location is jinxed, but there's no question our pizzas had bad gris gris on them. To be fair we ordered pizza from another joint recently, and when we went to pick it up it was delayed. They said they had burnt the first one, but were expediting another. Mellow Mushroom should get a hint and check before serving. Off my list.

The Shiitake Mushroom Pizza is truly the best. Especially if you like garlic. Garlic sauce is drizzled across cheese and mushrooms in just the right amounts. I'm sure other items on the menu are good, but it's all I want to order. The service has been great when I've visited. The decor is interesting and there are TVs at the booths. The atmosphere is a little different at night than lunchtime. I prefer the more quiet lunchtime, but that's just me.

I visited the Mellow Mushroom in Lafayette on its first night open. It was an absolute madhouse, but we were seated within 15 minutes. Here's my breakdown of the situation: Pros... *Options for Those with Food Sensitivities: Attention all gluten-intolerant or lactose-intolerant people: the Mellow Mushroom has friendly appetizer & entree options, including pizza. Gluten-free crust will not set you back any money, but going dairy-free will cost you $2, which was fine by me. *Creative Menu Options: I was thrilled to order the Twice-Baked, Hot Chicken Wings (gluten-free & not fried!!!) & my pizza with half Thai Dye & half Mellowterranean, minus the gluten & dairy. Some of my gluten-friendly friends raved & raved about the Pretzel appetizer with the Marinara & Cheese sauces. *Ambience: It's just so damned cute in there, especially when the sun goes down. The colorful lights & decorations show up fabulously & I was told that open mike night & trivia night are soon to come. A+ *Service: Despite it being extremely busy on their first open night, the staff was very friendly & upbeat. Our waitress & the Manager on Duty were great sports & helped us in any way they could. Cons... *Price: Our group had drinks while waiting for a table & discovered upon receiving the evening's bills that, for a hippy-dippy-themed pizza joint, these guys command top dollar for drinks & pizza. Our server's pitch for a $1-off-your-drink-but-not-your-pitcher happy hour failed to impress. *Skimping on Toppings: Since the prices are a little steep, I wasn't expecting to have the pizza come to me with very light toppings, not to mention barely any cheese on it. It tasted good, but when observing the other pizzas at my table, I felt cheated. After resentfully chewing my way through a slice of each side, I wound up talking to the manager to sort things out & was made a second pizza, this time half Mellowterranean & half Holy Shittake. I was promised that this pizza would have more toppings on it, but I still found that it didn't nearly match the amount of cheese that my friends' pizzas had. Hello??? Lactose-free doesn't mean skimp on the vegan cheese, Mellow Mushroom. Get it together. I really think that the MM has some things going for it, but given that no previous business has made it in the spot they're in, they should try to overcome that disadvantage by making their drink prices more competitive & not being so stingy with the healthy toppings. If they do, the traffic going to the Grand 16 Theatre in the same lot may keep this business afloat in the spot where other businesses have failed over & over again. If not, I guess we'll just see what crops up next.

We went to Mellow Mushroom last night for the second, and last, time. My daughter and I went with a group of friends, many of which were in from out of town. We had a party of ten. Everyone placed their order. Little things with the service began to occur at this point that were simply not acceptable - the waiter not picking up our menus (I had to put them on the floor under the table because he was just not appearing to take them), waiting twenty minutes for refills, etc. But the worst is that my daughter ordered a simple pepperoni and cheese calzone. Pepperoni and cheese. As simple as it can get. And according to the waiter, the kitchen burnt her calzone TWICE, causing her to get her food after everyone else had been served and eaten their order. At this point I'm annoyed and I say something to the waiter because my daughter has a medical condition that requires a timely intake of carbohydrates. His response is to ask me if I'm being truthful. Talk about an extreme lack of professionalism. At this point, I've already decided that I'm done with Mellow Mushroom and I am not leaving a tip (it has been years since I have not left a tip for terrible service - that's how often I tip). In the end, they removed the calzone from the bill but the damage had been done as the service here was simply atrocious. I've had more pleasant service from McDonald's. If I was the owner, I would seriously look into getting some new staff at this point. I will not be back.

Ordered pizza and calzones...both were good enough. I would go back because the pizza was different from other pizza places in Lafayette. There was also a large selection of bottled and tap beer. Outdoor patio with TVs. Large bar area. Plenty of large screen TVs around the restaurant. There was also a few tables that had personal TVs. Service was great.

Credentials first. Have written the first Jewish-Cajun cookbook ever, grew up in NY and have eaten pizza in more than fifteen states, and recently did a pizza contest in Brooklyn,NY, the Mecca of pizza on planet earth and declared Di Fara Pizza the best pizza on planet earth.... as did my five friends. For the Lafayette folk who don't know where this place is, Mellow Mushroom opened up a few weeks ago in that giant empty building at the corner of Johnston St. and Camelia that has been vacant for four years or more... and it's been vacant because the owner wanted some exorbitant sum to rent it... well apparently MM is making money as they came up with the cash. OK, now let's get to the fare...This joint's pizza would be laughable at any pizza place in NY. Decent crust, tasteless sauce, cheap no-flavor cheese make up this pie. I guess that's why they have all those fancy toppings, with ridiculous names like "Holy Shittake" and "Thai Dye" so they can hide the crappy pizza underneath it. And if you think that this pizza is good, then you've never had a real pizza, or have only eaten at Deano's and Alessi's. The only thing this joint has going for it is the pretty restaurant and cool interior that some clueless individual paid for a bunch of years ago before he went out of business. Maybe I am not being fair that I rated them just on their pizza. But until I go back and get some chow that is worth a shit, not a pizza that I would compare to a Di Giornos - MM get the deuce.

After several follow-up visits, I'm changing my review. The food comes out all out of order. We saw three tables that were seated after us get food before we received our pizza, which we received before our appetizer. Last time we went, a group of servers stood around the kitchen for 15 minutes while I waited for water. They have had plenty of time to get it together. It sucks because I am a fan of the franchise. If they get their act together I may give it another try.

Nice decor for a pizza joint. The pizza isn't bad - better than papa johns, dominos, pizza hut etc. Not not worth the money compared to Deano's. Service: I counted 18 staff that were grouped around the restaurant chatting with themselves in groups of 3-4 while our waiter seemed overloaded with tables scattered across the restaurant - he was as attentive as he could be. The others seemed more interested in talking to each other than waiting on customers and gave me a rude look when I interrupted their conversation to try to get our waiter. This was on a Sunday at 3:30pm.

Mellow Mushroom is the coolest concept to hit Lafayette in a very long time. The staff are very attentive and the food is so good! I was skeptical about trying the Bayou Bleu Pizza because bleu cheese can be very hard to cook with but this is my new fave! Their pretzels with the turbo dog beer cheese dip is delicious. We' ve been about 5 times and always left happy. If you have a special request or dietary need they are very accomadating as well.

My favorite food is pizza so of course upon hearing about this place I got really excited......but that was short lived. The decor is cool, the atmosphere is fun, but the food failed to deliver. We ordered a house special and the first thought was that it tasted just like frozen pizza I could buy at a grocery store. Nothing special at all, not to mention the service was horribly slow, and that bland tasting pizza cost around 40 bucks. Needless to say Deano's is still king.

I took my wife and 4 kids here to eat. The atmosphere was great, the music was good, the service was good. But the prices are insane for the quality! $7.50 for a pint of Guinness! The pizza was pretty pricey too! I've never spent so much on a beer at a restaurant before! For $1.50 more I could buy a 4 pack of Guinness! Most places charge $5.50 the most! The meat on my meaty pizza was good though. Tasted fresh. The pizza was a little greasy but not nearly as greasy as pizza village. We ate all the pizza in that sitting. No left overs. It was good but for the money I spent, I expected more. I'd rather spend that kind of money at Deanos or La Pizzaria. I was really looking forward for a great pizza parlor with a good beer selection but if they are going to charge those prices, I will go somewhere else... I will try them again. But maybe just me and the wife only.

Food is good , I think it will be a success at the movie theater location despite the service quality being far from overwhelming. I am not a heartless consumer, very empathetic to the service workers, but its really hard to pay someone's income (because we all know the restaurant doesnt..) when they really could give a damn about presence. To the gentleman who served us last night, take pride in your job and responsibility if something goes shifty in the kitchen/runners, a little empathy towards the customer goes a LONG WAY and my table would have been 100% more receptive.

Finally a gluten free and vegan friendly place in Lafayette that has pizza!!!! My husband got the mighty meaty pizza which he loved. I got the gluten free with vegan cheese (can't have dairy) with beef, bacon and pepperoni. Staff is trained for cross contamination. Can't wait to go back!

To be fair, I reserved judgment until eating their pizza 4 different times. First time was when first opened, pizza was great. Last 3 times, pizza dough was gummy. Tried to justify with possible causes: pizza pulled from oven too early; busy dining room so rush cooking time; new cooks; just an off day, etc. Even warmed leftovers in oven at home. The crust appears to be a yeast dough and is not rising enough prior to cooking, therefore gummy, raw, limp crust. My husband didn't want me to complain, just not go back. But, how can you fix a problem if you do not know about it. Anyway, not wasting $30 on pizza anymore.

The pretzel appetizer would have been pretty good but the bottom of the pretzels were burnt. Beer on tap isn't very cold at all. Had a calzone and it was mediocre at best. Three stars because the service was excellent, food just meh.

We actually had fast service (apparently that's a problem with this location), and the food was pretty good. Despite the fact that it's a chain, we tend to go because they offer dairy-free cheese for my girlfriend, and it's good food. I like the calzones more than the pizza; these are the only ones I've managed to find that aren't super-greasy, and they're so good I manage to eat almost an entire one in a sitting. The drinks were a bit small for the price, but otherwise this was a good experience.

I've been to Mellow in Florida a few times and always had a great experience. So when I heard that Lafayette was getting one, I was ecstatic. Keep in mind that this restaurant is only about 3 weeks old. If you've never been before or you're not one who likes to wait for a table, you may want to hold off on trying it out for a few more weeks. Don't let a long wait spoil your good dining experience. Go when the wait is moderate and you're sure to have a great meal, regardless of what you order. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. Also, if you have the chance, I highly recommend requesting Caitlyn Breaux as your server. She was extremely courteous and very good throughout my entire experience. I will definitely be going back soon and requesting her again.

Man, tried hard to like this place. I have ordered take out a few times and they have steadily gone downhill. This last time the pizza was cold. Like stone cold. Like we could have put it in the refrigerator to warm it up cold. Then the salad tastes like they have just opened the bag of mixed greens from last week and poured it into the bowl. Sorry guys, keep looking for a pizza place if you are looking for unique pizza in Lafayette

I decided to try the new Mellow Mushroom in Lafayette for lunch. Although the parking lot looked full, there was no wait and immediately found a seat at the bar. As a side note, the beer selection looked fairly good for a chain restaurant. I ordered the lunch combo with two slices and a fountain drink. One slice of pepperoni, one slice of ground beef. The crust was nice and crispy. The slices could've been bigger. The sauce and cheese were good enough, not great. Likewise, the pepperoni and ground beef were just okay. The service was fast and friendly. Not a bad spot to grab a quick and relatively cheap lunch, but I'm in no rush to go back.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The service was a bit off, but the food is always fantastic. I freaking love the Mushroom pizza.
(3)Jaimie S.
(3)Jeff R.

Visiting from Houston and I liked the name. Food was fantastic, even though my order was lost. The waitress hunted it down before I really noticed.

The staff was great. Handled a problem very professionally. Manager was on the issue and we appreciate his concern and hospitality. We will be back..

(5)Alana Y.
(2)Daniel L.
(3)Vicey R.
Thai Pizza here is amazing. We love the cool and funky decor. A little loud but that is the way of pizza. Gather around for a slice with family and friends and enjoy! We have ate many things here and never had anything we didn't love!
(5)Alexandra W.
(2)Lisa M.
(4)Ismael S.
Food tastes pre-fab frozen. Service is poor. Very disappointing experience.
(1)Marie B.
(1)Kenny B.
The pretzel appetizer would have been pretty good but the bottom of the pretzels were burnt. Beer on tap isn't very cold at all. Had a calzone and it was mediocre at best. Three stars because the service was excellent, food just meh.
(3)David T.

(5)Michael L.

How far they've fallen. Been going to Mellow Mushroom since living in Atlanta in the 90s. The MM execution in Lafayette leaves so much to be desired. Two visits in a row resulted in burnt pizzas.
