Our family stopped here on a whim because we were in the mood for Mexican and saw this place in the area. Glad we did! An extensive menu to choose from with some typical Mexican fare. We ordered the fajita quesadillas, Burrito and chimichanga plates which were all delicious and generously portioned. The service was impressive. Our waiter was very attentive and our food came out fast, especially for a busy Saturday night! Will definitely come back the next time we are in Lafayette and want Mexican food!

This place is way better than any other TexMex in Lafayette. The service was decent, and unlike other reviews, or server's English was proficient. The ambiance is very standard TexMex, bright colors and fun patterns. The price is decent, not cheap, not expensive. The portions are huge. My husband and I split the hacienda special, which is a combination of a bunch of different things, and we still had a whole serving left. The tamales were really good. My husband's favorite was the stuffed Poblano pepper. With that said, I was not impressed with the house marguarita. It was obviously made with a premixed, purchased margarita mix. We got our plate with guacamole after asking for it on the side, and the shredded chicken was a bit salty. We also had an extra $2.25 charge, either for water or a to-go box. I didn't bother to ask. Overall, I would definitely eat here again, because this place out does everything else in this genre, not because it was amazing.

Great, cheap tex mex food. The two for one margaritas are no joke- we had two large strong beverages for $5 total. Ordered the chicken soup after seeing it at another table- simple, flavorful and satisfying. My husband and I split the hacienda special: claims to have a little bit of everything and they weren't lying. Two full plates of food for $16. Well worth the money

Walking into this establishment, it looks like a authentic mexican joint, from the decor, to the people, to the environment. The people were nice, although many did not speak english well, they did what they can to make communication easier. However, the food was not that great. The salsa was good and tasted fresh, as many other authentic mexican restaurants.. Parriyada Fajita: beef, chicken, mexican sausage, shrimp with bell peppers and onions.. they give you a hefty amount of food.. but they did not give you enough rice nor tortilla to eat with all the meats.. the flavors were decent, nothing to sing about Wouldn't say I wouldn't come here again, but it won't be my first choice.

Good service, the waiter was super nice. Great food in quick time. The grilled fish (I couldnt remember if it was #74 or #75) was the best grilled fish I have ever had in my life!!!

Pretty bland as far as TexMex goes. The service wasn't bad at all, and the waiter we had was friendly enough. But the food was nothing to write home about. The salsa tasted like bottled, right off the shelf variety. It consisted of tomato, onion, and more tomato. Also, and this is just a quirky thing I didn't like.. But the entrance was setup in the most inconvenient way possible. You park on the side of the building and either have to walk around to the front where there's no sidewalk, or go in the side door and trek through the dining area to get to the hostess booth. There's no "flow". All in all, while nothing was terrible, there was nothing worth returning for.

Great family owned place. I would definitely recommend. Food is authentic, not commercialized. Service is great. Margaritas are excellent . prices are excellent. I don't come here often but I should start.

The service here is great, the staff knows their menus inside and out. Their salsa is amazing and so is their food. Real Mexican food is what you will get here, no tex-mex.

It probably helps that I work right around the corner from here, but this place is the bomb. Family-owned and operated and serving up some serious Mexican eats that don't ding you in the wallet, it keeps me coming back a lot. It's a great post-work venue for attitude adjustment, with monstrous 2-for-1 margarita specials all day, plus the usual Coronas and Negra Modelos if you're more of a cerveza fan, or Patron and other tequilas if you're looking to go that route. The quart-sized bottles of Corona available are priced right. It might also help that I'm kind of a regular here, but the staff are all super friendly, especially since they've brought back some of the beloved servers from their Ville Platte location. Not everyone's degree of English competency is the same, but they make up for it in entertainment and professionalism and appear to genuinely enjoy working there. The chips are good, but the salsa can at times be hit or miss. Lately, though, it's been much improved, with just the right amount of cilantro to add flavor but not be overpowering. No complaints about the food, with a hefty amount of menu options. You can tell the cooks know what they're doing in the kitchen. You can't go wrong with the burritos or the fajitas as well as the side dishes of beans, guacamole, Spanish rice, etc., and their soups are flavorful and filling. They don't skimp on the to-go portions, either, with the exception of the salsa for the big bag of chips they include. Some detractors may say Posados or El Paso or Blue Agave has better ambiance and such, but this place gets my vote, and has for many months.

We liked this place a lot. Good salsa. Good margaritas (2 for 1 and $5). Really great food! I got the veggie fajitas and there was all SORT of veggies in there, not just peppers and onions, which is such a refreshing change for a vegetarian!

Stopped here in a whim several months ago and found the food, service and margaritas to be really, really good! Have been back twice and not been disappointed. I worked in Houston for last seven years and ate at MANY Tex Mex restaurants and La Hacienda can definitely hold its own (ok it cant top Hugo's but who can!). Try the chicken mole (59).

We've been slowly trying all the Mexican food places in town, and predictably, most are mediocre, but La Hacienda is one of the better ones. Plates are large, the food tastes reasonably authentic, and the margaritas are excellent and often 2-for-1.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
