I was in town with work and took some colleagues to dinner; we had a great meal and would definitely go again when I'm back in town. Everything tasted great, presentation of the food was artful and the service was spectacular.

Very nice sitting and amazing fish specials among several other items. Great wine list. Want a nice romantic place with great service... Done!

Let me be clear, the Godiva white chocolate bread pudding is not as good as sex, but it's arguable. That dessert topped off what an elegant meal should be like; excellent service, excellent food, quiet dining room. We both had seafood and it was very good.

Absolutely unbelievable food and great southern ambiance. You've got to try the crawfish beignets and the gumbo, to die for. For entrees try anything and you'll be happy, soak it down with an Abita beer and you'll be in heaven. Also for dessert be sure to save room and try the bread pudding its incredibly moist and delicious.

Entrees were very good. This is gourmet food, but don't let that scare you. I am not usually a big fan, but this place is an exception. Everything we ordered was delicious. The atmosphere was very romantic and upscale without being stuffy. My husband and I were visiting this area on business and we had shorts on and we felt welcome. The dessert I ordered was to die for! I had the berry cobbler with ice cream! It was served warm in a dessert glass with the fruit and crust mixed together. The fruit consisted of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries! Great combination! We plan to go back. The restaurant is located in an old beautiful house! A must see!

Location is not noticeable, and its in a very old building. Which truly makes it one of Lafayette's hidden secrets. Food is very good, staff is nice, and so is the atmosphere. We always get the Steak Louis XIII, and the complimentary french bread is so good! They also have a tray of dessert, we ALWAYS get the white chocolate bread pudding with fruits, oh yeah, do not forget to SUIT UP! because everyone in there is..

This is an upscale restaurant but casual as well. Patrons varied from people in suits to guys in golf shorts or jeans..It is a true testament to Louisiana Dining. They have a large dining room in back for events and also a nice back patio to dine outside. Great happy hour and a delicious menu. I had the bar sampler and turtle soup...it was to die for. I didn't want it to end!

The Steak Louis XIII was amazing and worth the price. The drinks were rather expensive though.

[8/20/2010] ~ This is a very accommodating restaurant. We were early to our place of stay so we called to move up out reservation; done with ease. Located off of Pinhook Road and set back off the road a bit. The restaurant is set up in an old two story Louisianan style Plantation home; very lovely, classic style. We walk in and it feels like home. Greeted by a lovely hostess and a pretty smile, we were seated immediately. Our waiter was a very nice young man with a quick Louisiana tongue. His only hick-up was with my drink. He didn't know what a 7&7 was at first. Then, like a light bulb it came to him. ONLY to get my drink to be clean. I'm wondering if they used Seagram's Gin and not Whiskey. I still enjoyed my drink because I didn't feel like waiting for a new one. We ordered our starters, Seafood gumbo. It was very delicious. The only flaw was the rice was a mixed of perfectly cooked rice and under cooked rice. Despite the culinary 101 mistake it was probably one of the best gumbos I've had in a long time; the misses concurred. Also, with our starters we got this wonderfully cooked French Loaf. The softest inner white, with a crispy outer crust; not hard like some French Loafs. On to the entree. We ordered the Steak Louis XIII. Presentation was spectacular; I took a cell pic to prove. Cutting into the filet mignon was like butta'. The mashed potatoes were delicious; a little bit outter crispy like a twice baked potato spilled onto the plate. The demi-glace and mornay sauce were succulent and complimented the filet well. The jumbo asparagus weren't so jumbo but cooked to al dente crisp perfection. Everything about this dish was awesome. I think I even took the French loaf bread and cleaned my plate. Flashback... While eating our Seafood Gumbo a fellow connoisseur was viewing the desert tray. The misses immediately scoped the carrot cake. Needless to say, she wanted to skip starters and entrees and go straight to desert. Flash forward... our waiter demo'd the desert tray and we made our palate cleansing choice. She chose the carrot cake and I went with the Mocha chocolate cheesecake. As expected it was a wonderful finish to an already extravagant meal. The environment was soothingly pleasant and enjoyable. The staff were top notch and on there game. I would recommend ANYONE to visit this place when passing through.

Made reservations and still had to wait. I don't see what the hype is about this place. Made a reservation at least a week in advance and still had to wait. Didn't really mind so me and a co-worker head to the bar. Clumsy bartender knocked a drink on my sports coat. The menu really had nothing special. Pretty much like any other 3-4 star restaurant. Steaks, fish, lobster so nothing really creative or innovative here. Overall it's nothing I haven't tried before at other restaurants like this.

Excellent. Everyone in our party of six liked what they ordered. Service was top- notch. Unfortunately, I waited too long to complete the review, so I can't give specifics on the meals.

Cafe Vermilionville 1304 W. Pinhook Lane Lafayette, Louisiana 70809 (337) 237-0100 cafev.com We went to the city for dinner. That sounds funny but considering that we have spent the last 2 days in small town Abbeville, Lafayette really is the city. This is supposed to be one of the swankier places in town with an amazing menu. Binh's brother in law and the internet recommended this place. Everyone in town has heard of it and they all say it's great. It looks like they took someone's house and gutted it out and made it into a restaurant. It was nice in that old fashioned kind of way like some place your grandparents would like to hang out at when they are in the mood for something a little fancier than Coco's. We ordered crabcakes, a caesar salad, filet mignon stuffed with crawfish, fish with lump crab meat, and bananas foster cheesecake to finish. The crabcakes came with a lemony, thymy sauce and it was really good but I encountered 5, count that, 5, pieces of shell in my crab cake. That was a little bit of a buzz kill since I hate chomping on things that are not supposed to be in my food. The caesar salad was standard. The crawfish stuffed filet mignon was good but it was a heart attack in the making. There was so much butter that my arteries clogged with just one bite. I had 2 bites total and that was plenty for me. the filet came with overdone asparagus and bland mashed potatos. My fish was overdone and over seasoned and came with overdone asparagus and over cheesy risotto. I didn't think anything could be too cheesy for me, but apparently I have hit my limit. The best part of the meal was dessert. The dessert tray included chocolate bread pudding, chocolate cake, triple berry cobbler, key lime pie, tiramisu cake, and bananas foster cheesecake. We opted for the cheesecake and it was DELICIOUS. Homemade and garnished with fresh REAL whipped cream, the cheesecake was light, not too sweet and had real bananas baked right in. The crust was cinnamony and came with lady fingers. I reccomend this place just for one visit so you can say that you've been there. Otherwise I wouldn't go back for anything but dessert. Our entire meal came out to be about $100.

One of my favorite restaurants in Lafayette. Rumor has it, this place was a house of ill repute at one time in it's history. Very authentic cajun experience, with the likes if New Orleans cuisine. Really enjoyed turtle soup and bananas foster. Yummy!!!
