This is my favourite Thai restaurant in town. The service is always minimal but great, and takeout food is made quickly. The atmosphere is simple and casual. So far I've tried the spring rolls, the orange chicken, the pad thai, the massaman curry, and the yellow curry. I get the yellow curry more than anything else. I went for lunch once and got free soup (which was a soup with some sort of fruit in it -I don't remember specifically but it was really good) with my meal. The food is always full of fresh ingredients and beautifully melded flavours. The jasmine tea and coconut water (with pieces of young coconut floating around in it) are good as well. I could go on and on about my love for this place.

The rating is based only on the flavor of the food and not the decor or service. The service was perfectly fine and our waitress was very attentive to our needs but we did go when the restaurant was not packed. As for the taste, I can say that I'm a fan of the food. Not my first time eating Thai food so I have a good idea on what most of the dishes should taste like and they all came back just as good and flavorful as any other Thai restaurant that I've ever visited. I would definitely come back to this restaurant if i lived in the area.

I love the feel of this place, and the food is fresh and delicious. Lots of spice and flavor in all their dishes. I personally love their green curry and the pad thai. Portions always fill and the family and staff that run the business are very kind, couldn't ask for more.

The pad thai was good. The thai tea was a disappointment, not a fan of whipped cream.

Yesterday I brought my wife here for her first Thai food experience on her birthday. And it's probably our last for this restaurant. We arrived at 12:30pm, the restaurant is quite small and has about 20 tables. About 14 tables were occupied. We ordered 3 dishes, and we assusmed its shouldn't take that long. However, after 45 minutes later, no food, our waiter didn't even came over to let us know how is the food coming. I had to called him over, and asked him about our food? He said its coming and quickly walked away. We waited for another 15 minutes, which is an hour waited total, and finally our 1st dish has arrived with some rice. We were so hungry its took us above 5 minutes to finish the 1st dish. The other 2 dishes came just in time. We ate almost all of it. Overall, the food were good, not great, but good. But the waiting and lack of service experienced is enough for us to never come back here again.

When they ask you how much spice you want, just know "Thai Hot" is H-O-T! My lips are still burning and I have been done with my Red Curry for 20 minutes. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. Very authentic. So why, you ask, did I only give them three stars? Well four stars means, "Yay! I'm a fan." Unfortunately there was waaaaaay too little chicken in my Curry for this place to get more than an A-OK rating. Good, but not enough Bangkok for the buck.

Located in the old Pimon Thai location in the middle of town, Bangkok Thai is a reasonable distance from just about anywhere in my little city. Trust this cozy location to have delicious, spicy fare...& I do mean spicy. This is easily the hottest Thai food in town. For those not familiar with the spice levels at Thai restaurants, options typically range from Mild to Medium to Hot to Thai Hot. Let me just say that Thai Hot at Pimon Thai, Maesone Noodle House, Thai Cuisine, & Thai with Love will probably equal the heat of Hot at Bangkok Thai. I love really hot food & I won't dare try Bangkok's Thai Hot spice level. You've been warned. All of their food is very reasonably priced, in my opinion. Their fresh, yummy Spring Rolls are the cheapest I have found around, their lunch specials are a steal, & their dinners, although a little more $, are still affordable. Some of my favorite menu items are the Veggie Spring Rolls, Tom Yum/Tom Kah (perfect to clear your sinuses if you're under the weather), Larb, Khao Pad, Mussels in Love, Pad Ped, Gang Panang, Poo Pad Pong Gahree (Yellow Curry Crab - they give you 2!) & my FAAAVORITE of their entrees: the Massaman Curry. There are more dishes I have tried, but I can't remember which. I will say that the Pad Thai isn't my favorite in town, but it isn't bad. It's a fun place to have a birthday party, go on a date, or catch up with a couple of buddies over lunch/dinner. Give it a shot the next time you crave Thai food & you won't regret it.

Great service, great recommendations for my bf who does not really eat Thai food. He loved what the waitress rexcommend. I just moved to Louisiana and been looking for a Thai restaurant that's actually good and decent. This place is just wonderful! Will definitely come back again.

This is my first Thai food experience in Lafayette, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it has to be the best in the City! It was absolutely delicious and everything was seasoned perfectly. We started with the Thai egg rolls. They were crispy and flavorful and served with a nice dipping sauce. For our entrees, we opted for the Green Curry with Chicken and the Pad Khing with beef. The green curry was wonderful. Perfect blend of ingredients and nice size portion. My hubby is a huge curry fan and said it was one of the best he's ever eaten. Now on to the crowning glory of the meal -- the Pad Khing was beyond excellent. The beef was great quality and tasted so good. The dish was filled with shredded ginger, onions, bell peppers, snow peas, mushrooms, baby corn and scallions, all stir fried in a soy bean chili sauce. It was on par or even better than some of the Thai restaurants I've had in Houston, New York and Vegas. A note of caution - we requested medium and it was a little more spicy than we anticipated, so choose temperature wisely. The service was friendly and we were seated quickly on a Friday night. However, it took us over 25 minutes to get our entrees, which is too long in my opinion. The prices were reasonable and portion sizes great. Can't wait to visit again!

I have eaten at this Thai place multiple times during my business trip to Lafayette area. Even though the restaurant is small, the food is delicious. The green curry is my favorite dish. I try Thai food from various cities, and the green curry here is second to none. Authentic green curry flavor and tons of fresh vegetables along with your choice of protein. My next favorite is the red curry with chicken.
(5)L C.
UH MA ZINGGGGG! I used to work at a thai restaurant in another city in Louisiana so I used to recommend that to everyone. i will definitely start recommending Bangkok Thai! The green curry here is like no other. I also love the pad Thai and pad ka pro. They spice it amazing and the flavor is great!!
(5)Mary Evelyn C.
My husband and I ate here for the first time. The food was incredible - fresh ingredients and cooked to order. My husband's from Chicago and loves Thai food and even he was impressed. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We will definitely be back next time we are in Lafayette.
(5)Barry B.
So close, so convenient, soooo delicious! I absolutely love the Yellow Curry Thai Chicken here! .. That and my new favorite dish, Chicken Pad Thai! Love the fact that I can go there any time for a call-in and not have to fight a crowd.
(5)Raymond S.
Great food will be back many times over well went back wont go again
(5)Seth W.
Don't let the lack of customers fool you. The food is delicious and the service is exceptional! Great atmosphere as well.
(5)Tina M.
This is the best Thai restaurant in town, hands down. The family that owns the place grows their own vegetables and peppers, so everything is extremely fresh and authentic. Because they grow their own peppers, everything is very spicy. I love spicy food and medium-hot is perfect for me.

First time here-ordered to go. 10.95 is not cheap for Pad Thai, but when i picked it up, was informed that, although the menu states the Pad Thai includes your choice of meat or seafood, the shrimp I ordered was 3.00 more! Odd, because I don't know what other seafoods there were. Haven't eaten it yet, but just already have a slightly bad taste in my mouth from the misrepresentation. Also, nowhere on the to go menu does it state that shrimp are extra charge!

The food was fine but the service was awful. Went tonight, a Sunday, at 7 pm. The food did not come until 8:10. The waitress made no comment or apology of the long wait time and ignored us. They had a large table but don't understand the massive delay.
(1)Robert O.
This place is a regular spot for me, I always start with the spring rolls, but finish with either curry or pad Thai. I rarely have room for dessert but if I do there coconut ice cream is great!!!! Also great for to go orders.
(5)Robley T.
Looking for the freshest Thai food in town? Bangkok Thai should be your choice. I have never been disappointed. The $9.95 daily lunch special is tasty, filling, and a bargain. You will leave full. The egg rolls and spring rolls are delicious. Try the coconut ice cream for dessert. We have had one bad service on a Sunday by a waitress that we haven't seen before and haven't seen since. Otherwise, the servers are great.

Having not much food options on our mini-vacation to Lafayette and Baton Rouge, we decided to check this place out. The food was overall tasty, but a bit pricy for the portion. Great that they have the option of omitting MSG from their dishes. Coconut shrimp - just like what you'd think it tastes like. Good dipping sauce. Probably not worth the price. Green Curry - Tasty and when they say "hot", it is HOT. Liked the variety of veggies in it. Beef Salad - Good smoky flavor in the meat, salad was overly drenched in sauce (so I had to avoid it/eat it quicker otherwise it was a bit salty). The "medium" had a good kick to it. Attentive service (for being a bit understaffed)!

Red curry, green curry, Tom Yum, Tom Kha, fried rice, fried noodles. - all awesome. The mushrooms were very fresh. Can't wait to try something new.

Before I start my review of maybe the most vile Asian restaurant in Lafayette - credentials first. Grew up in NY. Have eaten at more than 300 Asian restaurants in too many states to even remember. I've also written the first ever Jewish-Cajun-Asian cookbook which has been endorsed by two of the most renowned Jewish chefs in the US. And lastly, I've served a few of my Thai dishes to Montree, the chef/owner of Pimon Thai in Lafayette, who really enjoyed them. So..... when I tell you, as I told the manager of Bangkok Thai last night who came to my table wearing a greasy, dirty T-shirt, that his Pad Thai was way too salty and I was sending it back, you can rest assured that it was. However, the manager (who refused to give me his name) said that I made it saltier by the addition of hoisin sauce to it. Seriously? And he would not take it off the bill. First of all, the customer is always right, and if the customer says the dish is too salty, they should just take it back, period, and offer a remedy - like another dish to substitute for it. Secondly, the food cost on a $11 dish of noodles is about $1, so his refusal to take it off the bill is cheap, classless and an overall act of stupidity, and by him trying to tell me that I was the one who made his dish salty by adding hoisin to it is an insult to me and my food knowledge, especially after I told him that I'd written a cookbook and I know my Thai food. Bangkok Thai is dirty, their food is gross, and their management is unprofessional, cheap and stupid. And while I didn't get the manager's name at Bangkok Thai as he refused to give it to me, tomorrow I will have his name, and his job. If you want some good Thai food in Lafayette, go to Pimon Thai and tell Montree that Andy sent you.

I love the food here but service sucks, whenever I order to go which is often they always forget a part of my order. We don't live across the street to just come back for our missing order.

When craving for Thai, this place isn't bad. Service runs smoothly and the people are nice. We had the following items: - Larb: ground meat (you can choose beef, pork, or chicken) in a spicy, lemony, herb sauce, not the best I had, but still isn't that bad - Pad See-ew: these were flat noodles stir fried with meat of your choice, and veggies, with a dark sauce, which was pretty good if you like it more on the sweeter side - Pad Thai: flat noodles stir fried with broccoli, meat of choice, carrots, topped with peanuts... overall not the best I ever had, but still edible - Tom Yum: a clear spicy soup, with very minimal veggies and meat of choice, but very flavorful - Red Curry (Shrimp): so good and delicious, I got it spicy, and it was so perfect! Overall, I would eat this place when craving for Thai cuisine, but I wish there were better varieties in Lafayette...

Very good. Atmosphere is nothing fancy, but this place is about as authentic Thai as it gets. I will definitely be back.
(4)Jess L.
My favorite Thai place in Lafayette. Although I haven't tried the other Thai places because I was glued to Bangkok after trying it the first time. Sometimes you have to wait a while for your order, but I like to think that it's because of the tender loving care they put into it. Love the soups, pad thai, and green curry plate.

Best Thai Food Yet The waiter was sooo good. He took out the time to answer questions and make suggestions. He made sure he understood our taste so as to suggest what suited us. His suggestions were spot on. And this restaurant is so quaint and interesting. The cleanliness is a 5+. The bathrooms are spotless. Even the baseboards are clean! This was a wonderful experience. And the sticky rice with mango for dessert was fabulous. Don't miss checking out this restaurant

Went to this place last week and the service and food were amazing. We went back today and service was quite terrible. I ordered pad Thai with #2 spice and no meat extra eggs. Well mine came out full of chicken and no spice and very dry... Not good at all! I ordered a green tea and my husband decided he also wanted one and the waitress was so aggrevated bc he also wanted one. The tea came out barely warm.... Terrible again... Sad that we drove their from 1 hour away and that was our experience.

A friend and I went here for lunch on a Sunday. I was excited that they were open on a Sunday. A lot of places aren't! Well, that was just about the best thing about it. I ordered vegetable red curry, fresh spring rolls, & a thai tea. The curry was bland, the spring rolls only had carrots & lettuce, and the thai tea was way too sweet! The waitress that served us didn't seem to like her job too much. I was disappointed. Heard a lot of good things... I'll stick to Pimon!
(2)Josette L.
There simply is no comparison to this Thai restaurant. Their food is fresh and awesome. I'm totally addicted to their tom yum and pad pric. Amazing!!! Try it you will thank me for it.

This was my first Thai restaurant since moving to Lafayette and was very happy to get my Thai food fix! My friend who is also a Thai lover swears by another Thai place in this town, but on yelp Bangkok Thai had more reviews and better ratings so naturally I was drawn to here. I got the green curry and it was great but be warned the level of spicy is not a joke. I just got the regular and it had a kick! My friend got the pad Thai and it was good, nothing spectacular but still tasty. The staff here is very friendly and they actually close at 9pm but still seated us when we thought they closed at 10.

We were supposed to go to Pimon Thai but since they were closed we went here instead. Ordered the Pad Thai (seafood), Tom Yum soup, and Larb. All were hot bc we were too scared to try the "Thai hot". Came out just spicy enough. Added lemon to the Larb and it was perfect. Not "the best" Thai food I've had ever but still pretty good. A little pricey. The total came out to be $37 for those 3 items. We ordered hot green tea and they gave us each a kettle and charged us separately ($2/each).

Asides from what I've had in Thailand, this is some of the best. Pad Kee Mou...amazing.
(4)Joseph K.
I've only eaten at one other Thai place in town, and this place beats it hands down. Be warned, though - the "medium" spice flavoring in the curry is extremely spicy, much more so than the "mild" level, so beware. I have been told I am a bit sensitive to spicy foods, though, moreso than the average person, so it may just be me. We brought our 6-month old child to the restaurant as well, and she tolerated the atmosphere nicely, it has a low noise level and is comfortably arranged. I would come back again.

My mother and I tried this place last night. It was great! I was a little hesistant to try Thai food in Louisiana for some reason, but I am very glad I did. Our server was a young girl (maybe a teenager). She was so cute and friendly! She geniunely seemed like she wanted to make us happy. We had an appetizer of the Thai egg rolls. They were very good and the cabbage tasted very fresh. Then, I had the red curry noodle dish, and my mother had the yellow curry noodle dish. Both were very good, but they both were quite spicy (especially mine). Of course, spicy is a very relative word since everyone's taste buds are so different. I am not a huge fan of spicy food, but I can appreciate it. The only complaint I had about mine was that I ordered it with chicken, and the chicken was not very high quality. I had a Thai iced tea, which was excellent! We ordered ice cream for dessert - one order of the strawberry mango with coconut, and one order of the brown rice ice cream. They were both excellent, and the portions were quite generous. I would definitely return to this place. Next time I would probably try their Pad Thai, Lard Nar or something else not typically spicy. Great service though, and a wonderful atmosphere.
(4)Greg M.
Maybe not the best Thai restaurant in the country, but most likely the best Thai in Lafayette. The cashew chicken and homemade coconut ice cream were excellent and the service was outstanding. I'll be back!
(4)Kristin K.
I thought this place was very good. Ordered pad thai because I was in the mood for Thai comfort food and it was quite tasty. The noodles were round and thin and though it wasn't served with green onion, the chicken pieces were sparse and dark meat and I asked for lime wedges it was still pretty good. Spring rolls were the best, definitely order these.
(3)Jesse W.
Best Thai food in town. Truly authentic, Bangkok Thai is phenomenal. The place is small and quiet, never a crowd! Always very helpful and friendly staff! I gave Bangkok Thai a 5 star rating for all reasons! Spread the word and keep this place amazing.
(5)Manny S.
Food is delicious although it does take a little while to get to your table, still worth the wait though. I had the Kow Tom, the Pho and the egg rolls, all outstanding. If you are a fan of Pho, you'll like this version although it is different than the Vietnamese version. As everyone else has said, the food can be very spicy so if you're a wimp, go with the mild.
