This place is the real deal when it comes to great home style Palastenian comfort food! Location: middle eastern plaza near the airport. Service: Excellent! Friendly! Attentive! Food: OMG! The lentil soup was absolutely luscious! The kibbeh... Let's just say that my sister-in-law is no longer the kibbeh queen! The lamb, chicken, and shrimp were all fresh, succulent, and lovingly prepared by the servers mother. Oh and if you are an iced tea person ... don't pass up the lovely rose tea with pine nuts as it is magical! Nurse Nerd vote: 5 stars hands down!

Oh. My. Goodness. Came in for lunch, there were only a couple of other patrons. They must do a lot of carry out, as I saw about six people come in, pick up food and go. The interior of the restaurant is very neat and clean, the waiter was very friendly. The menu is full with a variety of Mediterranean dishes, all very nice sounding. My eyes were much larger than my stomach today, and I am in a blissful self-induced pain. The beef was hot and fresh, the pita warm, the hummus and salad were cold. I will be back with friends!

The food was tasty and fresh and the service was friendly enough. My fiancé and I started with and order of the fried kibbeh and an order of labnah. The kibbeh was really good, and definitely made fresh as it was piping hot and came a few minutes after the labnah. For our entrees, I got the kufta kebab with hummus and salad and she got the chicken schwarma with rice and salad. Both portions were very large and delicious. Mine came with four good sized kebabs and she had a mountain of rice topped with the chicken.

I really enjoy eating here every time that I come. The food is always good, the quality and freshness consistent. The people are hit or miss when it comes to friendliness, but they are prompt and efficient. This particular visit, my fiancé and I ordered labneh and kibbeh for an appetizer. For our meals, he ordered the kufta kabob plate with hummus and salad and I ordered the chicken shwarma plate with rice and hummus. The amounts of food you get here are always huge and I never leave without taking home leftovers. Everything was delicious, especially the kibbeh and the meats. My favorite thing on the menu, and what I usually get, is the Meat and Tomato Stew, with rice and hummus. I look forward to my next visit!

Don't be fooled by the name. The Shishkabob House offers a full menu of Mediterranean food from Shwarma to Baklava...plus the most delicious Hummus you ever tasted. This place is a relatively undiscovered food treasure.

After reading some reviews I was going to skip lunch. I passed by the Carrollton location and wondered what happened to this restaurant. Then I read they moved to Kenner. Mona's is concentrated in New Orleans, but a move of this place to Kenner was a wise move. I got a gyro and a chicken sharwma sandwich because I only had 30 minutes for lunch. It was about a 5 minute drive, and by the time I glanced through the Arabic newspaper hidden on a table my order was ready. The vegetables were so fresh it would make a vegetarian out of Neanderthal man. The cucumber sauce was excellent. The lamb and chicken was incredible and in my opinion, hangs anyone else out to dry. Overall, it was CLEAN, fresh, fast, convenient, cool & courteous. What more could you ask for? Pictures! Well I didn't have my phone on my hip but I wouldn't mind bringing someone there to impress them.. There's always something gaffed up in a restaurant, but not here. Calm, quiet, collective, & attractive. It was disturbing to know that halfway around the world there must be a place as nice as this that is without power and under siege. Like they say "it makes a difference when the owners are there". Maybe they weren't the owners because I did not take Farsi in college. But my best friend "Don Churchman" graduated from the American school in Kuwait and spoke perfect Arabic. His interpretations really made me like Arabic people more than Jewish. Abbas just needs an American P.R. spokesman and they would win the tv war and better explain their purpose. (I know I am going to catch yelp hell for this add-on, but it's true.)

I used to go to their mid-city location back before Katrina. The food is still as good as it was back then. I will happily make the trip from the Westbank to Kenner for their food anytime

Sometimes you have to dress up to go for a Sunday work out then skip it, think about getting burgers but then drive like 30min out of the way to go and eat at a place where Kebabs remind you of home and you drool over the food 6 hours later. Yes, thats what Shishkabob house did for us. It was like eating at home just paying for it. The food is homecooked by owners and their son is at the front desk. We had chicken and goat kebabs, while goat wasn't as tender as i am use to but it was delicious. Chicken was just out of this world so juicy, succulent, just amazing. The best part was the salad, grilled veggies and humus was as amazing as the main entree. A lot entrees have a bunch of sides as "sides", not here. As we were walking out and about to pay, we saw one of the owners bring in 5 pieces of dessert just out of oven. They told me its "Katayef", made with walnuts. I am not a fan of dessert but i ate 2 while they were swiping my card. It was the best thing ever. If you ever crave mediterranean food, please make the extra hike and go here. Check for 2 would be around $30 max. Thanks for making our Sunday a memorable one.

Most underrated Mediterranean place in town. Been going for years and never been disappointed with any dish. If you like Hummus, you must try the Hummus and Lamb on the menu. Dip that pita bread away! Meat and tomato stew is also great. So is the new stir fry. Lunch platters are all good too. And I love their falafel.

I have been eating at this place for the last 20 years. Before Katrina they used to have their location on carrolton. That's where i began to enjoy their cooking. They serve their tabboulli so fresh, the hummus with lamb is so delicious with roasted pine nuts. The mint tea is so good, you see the mint leaves in it. Also, the veggie grape leaves are so yummy.I enjoy eating here so much. It is a little bit farther for me now, but it is worth it. Thanks Waffa and Musa for the awesome food you cook.

This place may be a little out of the way but it is well worth it. It is reasonably priced and a well kept secret. The lunch and dinner portions are a lot for what you pay for. They have great kabobs. My favorite is the goat. The kibbeh and grape leaves are yummy! I highly recommend this to any one that is a fan of middle eastern food. So much better than Mona's and such.
