This IS Fast food. This is a Venezuelan Chicken chain. I've eaten here several times. The new tacos are delicious. People say it's expensive, but 3 large tacos, a side and a drink for $7 ain't bad. I've had the chicken also, which is pretty tasty. These new tacos are something else ! Can you say chicken, bacon, ranch! i either get the yuca fries or plantains, which are both good. They also have a nice salsa bar. This reminds me of some of the tasty international chains I somehow always wander into when I'm traveling and want something clean, because I've had enough of traveler's stomach. Bonus: real plates and silverware!

You want yucca? They've got yucca. You want fried chicken? Claro que si, ya tienen. Get your bad self over here. Only problem is the bathrooms suck.

First time, had the 3 taco meal. Far superior to any chain food I'veever had. Looking for a quick byte this is the place. Far superior to Taco Bell. I will return to try the fried chicken.

If you like fast food chicken, this place is going to blow your mind. Since this is the debut month, it's incredibly packed, but worth the wait. I had the grilled chicken with sweet plantains, two torillas and Rosa Jamaica (Hibiscus tea). OMG, it was wonderful! I couldn't wait to devour every last morsel and thought about licking the cardboard box the chicken was in. KFC should brace for serious profit losses, because this chicken is juicy and flavorful. For $8, I was sold on this Guatemalan treasure and cannot wait to return! Be warned, the drive thru is in Spanish until you stumble and say, "uh, can I get a number 3". But don't fret, the employees are bilingual, so you'll be good to go. The only issue is that it is located at a busy intersection. For an extra tidbid of weird confusion, the Pollo Campero LED sign also advertises for the laudrymat next door, so if you're scratching your head wondering, "free dryers?" "What the hell?" Clearly, the PC and the laundrymat are owned by the same person...weird, but what can you do. Go get you some, it's soooo good!

I visited Guatemala when I was 10. It was my dad's home country and I was a bit overwhelmed at the difference in foods; I had to get used to different styles of eating and everything. One afternoon, my aunt and I stopped at a chicken place near the shopping center. It was Pollo Campero, and the chicken was delicious...the seasoning and the batter, it was perfect to this little girl! Fast forward *cough* some years later....every now and then I would remember that delicious fried chicken and wonder why they wouldn't open one here. To my delight, Pollo Campero opened in Kenner last Wednesday and I've eaten here 3 times in one week. *yikes!* The chicken is tasty, juicy and wonderful! I'm impressed that they've been able to keep the recipe true. The sweet plaintains are oven roasted and served with sour cream (they're my favorite). The yuca fries are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I haven't tried any of the other menu items because I'm trying to catch up with 30 years of chicken dreams, LOL. Food wise, I'm in heaven. The only drawback is the long wait...since it's the first week that they are open, expect to wait in long lines and then wait for your food. To me, it's worth it.

With Pollo in the name and with my missing El Pollo Loco, I HAD to try this place. One look at the menu and I was excited as much of it is similar (minus plantains) to El Pollo Loco. We ordered typical meals -- chicken, rice, beans and a few tacos. Everything was very tasty -- a little on the spicy side -- and definitely a good value. The only disappointments were that I ordered the grilled chicken, but did not see until I got home that all of the chicken was fried; and I ordered a side of flour tortillas, but was given corn. The employees are very nice and helpful. I absolutely will go back and I love that we have a quick chicken option that is not fried -- I just have to be more careful to emphasize "grilled" next time.

Close enough to the New Orleans airport to grab some for a flight. I got here for lunch on a Thursday and didn't experience the lines other people have mentioned. Silly me, I had read the Yelp reviews and didn't know this was a chain. When I arrived, my 5 year old said, "I've been to this already in Miami! I like it a lot." Hmm... maybe she should be yelping. We had the fried chicken and the beans & rice and tortillas. YUM. Love the seasoning on the fried chicken. There was a dining room staff to clear the tables. They were very attentive. I guess they need to be when this place is crowded.

I'm native to Southern California where citrus grilled chicken is a much more common thing that I've missed since relocating to NOLA so in all honestly I've got some bias here. In the realm of all grilled chicken I've ever had its not the absolute best, but its still really good, and the Campero beans are awesome. That's pretty much all I've had off the menu because with some steamed corn tortillas and an agua fresca that is the craving that leads me here. I'm also gonna give it extra points for being a Guatemalan fast food restaurant that randomly has a franchise in Kenner.

The drive -thru lady was so rude. I told her I was not from this area and she ignored it and kept asking what you want in a hurry up and rude voice. At that the food was not that good . I will never go back.

A convenient grab and go option if your looking for a semi healthier option of fast food. I miss these kind of places as there were plenty back home in Houston so I was excited to see this place located right off the interstate. I'm not gonna focus on the service because like other reviews stated it SUCKS. No one here seems to give a flying fart about manners whatsoever. Focusing on the food though because that's really what this is about, each chicken entree comes with one side and two corn tortillas which is a good value for your buck. I tried the grilled chicken with a side of black beans. Although it stunk to high heavens and my co workers complained for hours about the smell, it taste good and left me content. I will be back for more.

My intention was 3.5 stars. Guatemalan fried chicken franchise in Kenner. The menu is a good change of pace. They're usually understaffed but always friendly. Their fried chicken isnt anything to rave about.. But they're chicken bowls, side items, baked chicken and tacos are good.(for a fast food joint) FYI... Their menu here is different than their original menu in Central America. If "Pollo Loco", "Pollo Tropical" or "Power Chicken"(from Honduras) open shop here... Pollo Campero is in big trouble. I suggest you try it if you can.

The restaurant was understaffed, the dining room was dirty, and the food was just okay. I'm not sure if the location sees a lot of traffic, but we went on a Sunday afternoon and were two of about five customers that were in and out for the time it took us to order and eat. The staff was friendly, but I think they would have done better with more people on their shift in keeping up the restaurant.

Slowest service ever. I'm the only one in drive up and I've been here 15 minutes. Not to mention the fact that she never told me my total. She just stood there all confused and just took my money. I know it's a Spanish based place but they need English speaking employees because not everyone who looks Spanish speaks it

I had the worse customer service experience to date in any dining establishment this evening at your Kenner location. This was my first time ever trying Pollo Campero, and had driven 30 minutes out of my way to try it after someone had recommended it to me. Me and my 2 friends arrived at around 7:15pm to a half empty restaurant. There was not a significant drive through line nor was there a line to order inside beyond two or three small parties ahead of us. We each ordered our respective meals and sat down. After patiently waiting for about 30 minutes for our food, we were wondering why the food was taking so long. The kitchen area showed plenty of chicken and sides available for them to plate right away so waiting for that long seemed really strange. I then approached the registers to nicely ask what the hold up is with the food because my friends and I were literally starving by this time. The woman at the register, Karina, actually glared back at me and gave me a dirty look when I asked. There was also another nice gentleman standing up at the front inquiring about his food as well, and the staff just glared at him and gave him dirty looks. I was absolutely shocked by how your staff was treating customers that just paid Pollo Campero for food! Meanwhile, there were plenty of other parties that came after us that received their food in a timely manner while we still did not get ours. There was a point that I stood up to refill my drink and Karina was actually staring at me as I was walking towards it, as if she had her guard up in case I came up to ask about the status about my food again. I would like to point out that I am a reasonable and patient person. I do not go out of my way to complain about bad service. If the staff had explained to me the reason the food was taking so long (understaffed that night, bad batch of chicken that needed to be replaced, poor management, etc...) and let me know that the food was on its way, that would have been fine. It is just the way the staff had treated me this evening when I had just paid money for a meal is what has upset me the most. The fact that I watched them treat another customer the same way added insult to injury. I can't believe how poorly managed this location is. The food wasn't even good. Ironically, the chicken was cold and everything else was very unremarkable. The entire experience was not worth it.

This is probably about my fourth time here but my first time writing a review & I would definitely give it 5 stars every time.I've tasted Pollo Campero in several Latin American cities,Madrid, Houston & I have yet to be disappointed.I was kind of skeptical at first because this chain is a Latin American chain so I honestly didn't think it would be as good in the U.S.as it was in Central America.Much to my surprise the chicken was amazing! The chicken breasts were huge, juicy & the batter tasted exactly the same.I also had some Campero Beans which were so delicious! I ordered them as my side with my meal. They had Cilantro and Onions in them which made them really tasty. As my drink I ordered Horchata for .30cents more and it was soooo good,I wish I would've gotten another one to go.Next time I come to New Orleans I will definitely be stopping here again.

Slowest service ever. 20min for an order of yuca fries to go. It's always been bad but today hit a new low. Not worth going back.

Salty. The food is salty. This isnt to say it is bad, it is just salty. It is flavorful, and my family seemed to like it. I could not get over how salty it was both times I tried it. The fried chicken was so salty I couldnt eat it, the empanadas were cold in the middle, and everything is loaded with onions. The entrees are all ok, but the real stars are the sides, the fried plantains and yucca. The beans were pretty tasty. The service is nice. We were greeted by a man with patience and a kind expression while we tried to decide what we wanted. No rush, and he even offered to let us try the various Latin drinks to see if we wanted those. The decor is a cross between McDonalds and a Mexican restaurant dripping with flags and bright beachy cardboard cutouts. I hate to be "that" person, but I was not blown away. I appreciated the service and the cleanliness, but in the end, a restaurant is about the food. I just felt like I was getting fed McChain style food with nothing authentic about it. There is nothing spectacular about the food. That being said, other than being way too salty, there is nothing bad about it either.

Not just good fast food chicken...it's just good period. The grilled chicken is marinated in lime juice and seasonings making it super tasty. My favorite are the tacos (which are gianormous) followed closely by the freshly made flaky empanadas. The main dishes are excellent, but the sides are even better. Try the campero beans, yuka potatos and the best, fried plantains. I love that I can get these whenever I want without having to go to a sit down restaurant. I also love the Horchata and the Mango juice. They do everything authentic, you get a ridiculous amount of food (that I am never able to finish in one sitting) and for a price as cheap as any fast food place around.

A fast-food restaurant that serves chicken and tacos?! The fried chicken is good as it is moist and has lots of flavor. I still prefer my local Popeye's for fried chicken. The beef tacos are small but have good flavor. The rest of the highlights: plaintains, yuca fries, black beans & rice are all tasty. Lowlights: Chicken empanadas are bland. The service....it is slooowwww. Overall, the portions are rather small to me for the price. While most of the food here is good I think the service here is bad. The staff don't seem to care all that much about giving quick service or giving service with a smile. The place usually has only a few customers but it takes a long time to get in and out (usually 15+ mins). Not a place I would stop by again unless someone really wanted to go.

I have had both the grilled chicken and fried chicken. They are both good, but the 1/4 grilled chicken is very small. You definetly are better off if you get the fried chicken. They also claim that there air is broken and is supposedly are getting it fixed, but it has been broken for quite awhile. I would suggest to take it to go or be prepared to sweat.

Many times they don't have what I want to order. Love their horchata drink but once they were out of that too. Their drive thru is SO SLOWWWW every time. Plus, most of the servings are small for the price... Love the taste of the food but all of the above makes me avoid this place.

To my surprise I normally wouldn't give 4 stars to a fast food joint but damn the citrus chicken empanada's are crack. After my 1st visit, I went there about 4 days in a row, seriously. Not only are the empanada's good, but the sides, chicken, Ranch tacos (WHEW!!!) and fruit drinks were tasty as hell. The only negative side is that the prices for the chicken alone is slightly pricey for fast food but sometimes I can just write that off and indulge. Go... Now!!!

The yucca fries are sooo good!! I love that you have to wait slightly longer at the drive through than most fast food restaurants, but the food is always fresh and hot. it's definitely worth the wait.

I'm not the biggest fan of chains but this is the only location in NOLA so that makes it unique to our area. The other cool thing about this place is they actually serve you on actual plates and give you real silverware. You also get semi-table service and your food is brought to your table. I had to pick bones out of my chicken tacos so I wasn't exactly thrilled about that. The grilled and fried chicken are really good for a fast food style joint. The real treat here are the sides with plantains and yucca fries. I'm going to return to try the empanadas.

I can't believe I haven't tried Pollo Campero until today. It's a reasonable distance from my office, but I keep forgetting about it. Anyway, I made the short trip out to Williams today with a co-worker. He ordered the grilled chicken with black beans & rice, and I ordered the spicy chicken tacos. We each ordered a side of plantains too. Everything was SO delicious. Don't get scared by the heat lamps that the chicken is sitting under... it's still fresh, juicy, and good (at least, it was for us, and this was during lunch hour on a Monday). They have a salsa bar too, if you feel like dressing up your chicken and/or sides with a green tomatillo salsa, red salsa, pico de gallo, etc. For the two of us, with drinks, it was under $15. Can't beat that, and I'll definitely be returning... especially with the convenient drive-thru. Yum!
