Am I missing something?? I would NOT even begin to compare this place to Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao. It is a tiny place that looks like a cafeteria. Zero decor. The salad bar is a joke. Very small and super greasy options. Plantains in a pool of oil, black beans so watery it covers your plate and good luck trying to fish for some from the bottom of the liquid filled tray. Those were the only 2 things I'd suggest getting if you actually went here. The "salad" is leaf lettuce normally used for garnish -whole leaves layed on a tray - with slices of tomato on top of them. Unless there just wasnt any salad out the entire time? There was white rice, a "greek rice" that I'm pretty sure was a version of dirty rice using left over white rice and random meat scraps, pot roast, "fajita" meat, fried yucca, potato salad, and some dry minced meat patty thing - greek again. Golf ball size balls of doughy bland "cheese" bread. All of the meat was way overcooked and not great quality. The filet was tough. Top round was so cooked you couldnt even cut through it - although the knives were super dull. Bottom round was the least dry/overcooked - probably due to all the fat. We were only able to take one meat at a time as that was all that was cooked. Constantly up and down for a piece or 2 of meat. They must do that on purpose so you are full faster and can't load up. It was peak dinner time. They should have everything ready or minimal wait for maybe one option. And again we sat and waited forever for the bill - actually had to ask for it. The waitress walked by several times with no acknowledgment that we were done eating. The Caipirinha was one of the worst drinks I've ever drank. SO sour I could not take more than one drink. It sat on the table and I had to pay for it. Even with the Groupon we left paying way more than this place is worth. Not only do they charge you for a fountain drink on top of the buffet price but they charge you for every refill. I would not recommend this place.

I would hope the food wasn't as bad as it was because it was 1.5 hours before closing time. The top sirloin and sausage were good, chicken ok, but everything else from the meat buffet, that we tried, was horrible. The beef ribs, the pork loin & filet mignon were so dry & tasted old. Coming from the restaurant industry for 13 years, the last guest through the door should receive has great of a meal as the first guest! We've been wanting to try this restaurant because it has been on Groupon for such a long time. I'm happy we didn't spend full price for such horrible food. This is the second time we've walked in the restaurant and it appears the AC is turned up way too high... It's warm in there! The temperature at the restaurant is what caused us to turn around and walk out the first time. Especially with a full-blown grill fired up in the background. Service, atmosphere and side dish bar were all mediocre.

Worst restaurant in New Orleans. Thank God we used a Groupon. Think greasy spoon truck stop with an Arby's in the back with all you can eat USDA Class D meat. I got the bacon wrapped fitet and it was like chewing shoe leather, the best thing about it was the bacon. This is not going to be there long.

I've been back a couple of times now (I'd have been there more often if I didn't live an hour away), and it's just as good every time. The buffet items taste just like I remember from when I lived in Brazil, and the meats are all very, very good. Like many, I'm most partial to the picanha. The funny thing about picanha is this: it's just the cap from a top sirloin. It's not a pricy cut of meat at all, but when you hit it with some coarse salt and cook it over a fire, it blows the filet mignon cooked the same way out of the water. But I'll tell you one thing: if you can force yourself to eat rare meat, get it rare. Oh boy oh boy. Simple as it is, there's hardly a better piece of meat on the planet. And if you haven't tried a guarana (a Brazilian soda) yet, give it a try. Love that stuff too. Oh, and I should add: most people that know anything about churrascarias in the US are only familiar with the Fogos, and the Texas de Brazils, and that sort of thing. This isn't that. It's the same type of thing, but there might be six meats instead of 14 and a small buffet of really good and varied food instead of a two million item salad bar. Oh, yes, and it costs less than half what those other places cost, so you can eat here twice as much!

Very pleasant service and good food. It is a buffet and special order grill. I tried almost everything on the buffet. Have to say the roast, pork and plantains were the best. I will definitely come back. Just know the bufffet price is literally double the price on Sat & Sun.

This is a cheap version of a Brazilian steak house. Do not expect Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil. There are not many options for A good Brazilian steak in the area so we gave this place a try. The first time we were so excited to eat picanha and the service was good that we went back. Then the 2nd time we brought friends and we realized they are too expensive. Then the 3rd time we got a Groupon and I end up thinking we got screwed because the total difference didn't add up. If you ask for water, they won't ask if tap water is ok and bring bottled water. The salad bar is very simple and their brans are only meat and liquid. No beans whatsoever. The owner was rude and the waitress told us the juice was refill and we realize it wasn't when it was time to pay. For $30+ per person I can eat a delicious meal at a fancy place. Not worth it.

This is a unique experience for New Orleans - a Brazilian steakhouse where you can have as much as you want for one price. There was an excellent selection of meats, and the buffet offered very good sides. I also had the flan for dessert, which while extra, was worth it. Service was very good. The only flaw in the entire meal was the bill. We are glad we only accepted the waiter's offer to refill our glasses of iced tea once. When we got the bill we found each refill of iced tea was $2.50.

This is the BEST place ever...meat it outstanding..sides different but soooo good! For the price you can't beat it. Don't miss it if you come to LA. Owner and employees as so NICE and accommodating!

I'll make this short and sweet: PRICE: high, but the food quality is better than what you usually find in a strip mall. FOOD: very good food; you can get away with a cheap meal by choosing to eat off only the "salad bar" which is much more than salad. If you're starving, then the full buffet, and accompanying price, is well worth the tastiness ahead. Full disclosure, quite a bit of the meat was wrapped in bacon so if you don't love pork this is not the place for you. SERVICE: decent, small family owned business, so service was exactly what you'd expect, nice and not overbearing

We just left here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was so wonderful, explaining to us what some of the items were and suggesting others. The food was excellent. From the grill, I recommend the chicken, top sirloin and the sausage and from the buffet table, I recommend the Brazilian stew, red beans and potato salad. Can't wait to come back, again.

Great service and excellent food! Had the Sirloin, grilled chicken and filet mignon. The pico de gallo salsa y great too.

After reviewing many of the reviews on yelp, I decided to try this place out as I figure it's easier to write a bad review than a good one. Decide for yourself. I went on a coupon from Amazon local. I tried some stuff from the bar which I liked everything on it. Nothing seemed like it had been sitting out. All freshly prepped. The sirloin was excellent and the bacon wrapped chicken breast very juicy and a little bit salty. My picky husband and even pickier 4 year old liked it, a lot! We went at quieter time and the people were very accommodating and nice. The Resteraunt was warm but it's the upper 90's outside and with all those huge windows, it's gotta be tough to stay cool. They had fans trying to combat the heat as well as a sprinkler trying to help keep it comfy. I would definitely go back!!

Ok yelp community... I need to catch on my reviews I start from last to first. I came here last night. Ive been meaning to come here for some time now. The place is half grocery store and half all-can-eat buffet. I think the buffet selection is fair(for a mom and pop shop). Unfortunately for them, the competition competition is fierce on Williams Blvd. If stuffing your face is your goal, there are better deals on either ends of this restaurant. The buffet has basically side items and you have approach the guy pulling the meat from rotisserie and serving it to you. Other places like Texas d'Brazil have servers walking around and serving the meat at your table. Churra's has a respectable selection of different cuts. In all honesty, I don't know much about Brazilian food to say they have it all, but I was pleased with the selection. What I was NOT pleased with was the staged ineptitude from the "meat guy". He was purposely slow... He didn't understand whatever you tell him... I couldn't tell you if he genuinely stupid or this was a sway tactic to reduce over serving. He didn't understand English or Spanish. So to sample everything without having to wait in line again I asked for "one of each", he looked at me crazy. I pantomimed and signaled again "1 of each". I handed him my plate and told him I will be back. As soon as I came back he handed me my plate with "some" cuts but not all. They charge $23.90 for the "buffet" but for some reason my bill was nearly $30(plus tip). I'm not one to nickel and dime or dissect a bill. The service was friendly and establishment was clean. I might go back... One day.

Nice little restaurant in Kenner! I have read only good things about this restaurant on Yelp, and I believe that will continue. The people who work here are very nice, and the food is very tasty. Just one note of caution, almost all the meat they serve is wrapped in bacon. For most people that's a bonus, but not for me. Myself, I don't eat bacon, so this limited the grilled meat choices for me. I was disappointed that they wrap most everything in bacon, but the meat I did get to try without bacon was good. Also it's a little expensive, and if you go in on a holiday you will pay $19.50 per person. The $19.50 price is supposed to be Weekend dinner price only, but since today, Monday, is a holiday they charged the more expensive price, and they don't tell you ahead of time you will have to pay the weekend price. Overall a good experience.

In the many times I have been to this restaurant, It is not the best restaurant, but it's good enough to give it a 3 star. It is a very small restaurant that serves excellent meat. I'll be doing a list of Pros and Cons. Pros * You get to choose from a very large variety of meat. * It is not like a restaurant where they give you a menu and you choose your food, which is something very unique. * If you would want some greens with your meat, there is a salad bar. * You are given the option to try the meat before choosing whether you would want it or not. Cons * The setting is poor but that is because it's not meant as a restaurant where you sit down and eat your food. It's meant more as a takeout type of restaurant. Final Review I give this restaurant a 3 star because although most meats are very good, some are not worth trying at all. However in the end, I'll give this restaurant a 3 star for how easy and fast it is to pick up food.

There is alot of good things going on here but unfortunately not enough for me to return. The good: grilled meats ( top and bottom sirloin, filet, beef ribs, chicken and sausage) are very tasty. They grill the meats in an open charcoal grill flame to the temp you request. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. A large variety of drink choices like juices and ethnic beverages. The not so good: You pay one price for the 'buffet' which is lacking. Some serious upgrades need to happen with the side item choices. Refried beans, shredded lettuce, corn on the cob, cold french fries? Catch my drift? The atmosphere is cafeteria like. The grocery store was priced higher than major supermarkets so why bother. Desserts are not included and consist of 80% coconut flavors. I really want to support family run businesses expecially with unique concepts like this. But until I can eat more than just a plate of grilled meats that I can grill at home, Theres no reason for me to return.

This place was amazing. The meats were awesome. I would recommend beef ribs and chicken from the grill. The service was good for a smaller local spot, but got slower as the place got pack. The Sunday buffet was about $30 including tax and a drink. If you have a party over 5, the gratuity was an automatic 15%, and they don't take Amex.

If you found out about this place because of an enticing ad for groupon or living social - DO NOT DO IT. Absolutely overpriced. The meat was super salty and I am normally someone who steers clear of salt but to have my husband and his brother say that the meat was overly salty (these two put sriracha on anything and everything including salting their food to no end)---that means it is salty. I am not sure if my experience can compare to the other diners on here, who visited the place, but this one was just SALTY. The cuts of meat were good though. I have no complaints about that. The salad bar is limited but there are beans, salsa, salad, sides of rice, plaintains, and some other things of interests. Overall I would not pay to come here again; I can compare this to my experience of an upscale of a brazillian steakhouse and at the price this place charge per person compared to the upscale brazillian steakhouse elsewhere--I would save my money and go to the upscale one. Dont waste your money on that Groupon.

Being a "steak house" you would think you'd be able to get your steak medium but not so at this restaurant, it was rare, rare or rare! The chicken breast and little sausages are the only reason I can give this place one star. The side dishes were OMG aweful! Hands down the worse meal I've ever had!

A blue-collar version of a Brazilian steakhouse. Describing how good the picanha is would involve language unsuitable for minors.

2.5/5 felt $hady at the register! is it worth it? not really. i had great company and that made it somewhat worth it, but it really wasn't worth the drive on reflection (we shoulda tried something else!). the meats are just ok - like others noted some were dry and all tasted generally the same. the chicken was surprisingly juicy, maybe they brine it? Then various pieces of beef were more miss than hit. the "salad" part I mostly passed over and i stuck to the plantain (I think there's a timing/volume issue here - they won't refresh if there isn't a full house). As I'm writing this I don't really have any distinct memory of any of the meats. As others noted, not sure if it feels like you get the value of the buffet. The location/ambience is weird...ambience maybe isn't even the right word. our server was attentive and sweet though. So the bill: I had a groupon that covered our table of 4 and at the end was still charged something like $15 (tax understandable, but something else was added on). we didn't get drinks, just water ( if you don't specify, they'll try to up charge you on water in bottles). we still tipped on what the bill total would have been, but the register experience kinda sealed the deal not to return.

So, I arrived and was pretty angry thinking this is not like Fogo; but I decided to give it a chance. I looked at the price I paid for the groupon compared to a night at Fogo and balanced that against the quality of the food. In the end, I decided that the variety of hot foods you would not normally find at another restaurant and the taste of the meats was pretty good for the price. The atmosphere is what it is...a restaurant in a strip mall. No over the top or romantic ambiance.

This was my first time eating here. The place was nice and very clean looking. The service was great. The food was OK, I got the sausage, steak and filet mignon. The sausage was good but both steaks were over cook. The filet mignon was way over cook, tough to chew and dry. They only had a few people eating lunch which might be the reason why the food was over cooked, no high turn over. They had one little island with Brazilian sides which was OK. I think they should have a second island with some American sides. Would I go back? Maybe, the place would have to be packed and need a coupon since its not cheap. Thank god i had a groupon for lunch.

My wife and I tried this restaurant and it failed to meet any expectation that I had when I patron at other Brazilian steak house restaurants out there. The atmosphere was confusing, seems more like a deli or convenience store rather than a restaurant. They have two buffet lines: 1: a very uninspiring tray of salad with a terrible attempt to brighten it up by having tomatoes sprinkled on top. The remaining items of the buffet were food that seemed to hanged out there all day, and they would only fill it up when that one item is low. (I guess to save costs) needless to say the food taste old. I could not tell the difference between their beans versus Mexican texmex. 2: their Brazilian steaks on the grill. They have different cuts of meat spinning in an open fire. All the beef taste like select cut beef. If you know your steaks, select is the bottom feeder grade cuts of beef versus choice or prime cuts you get from other restaurants. All the meats were over seasoned. The rule of thumb is, once you season your protein, you don't need to constantly season it over and over again. The outer layer seemed more like a salt lick than beef. Now to the deserts, the flan was okay, but the coconut macaron tasted like rocks. It is shaved coconut from a bag at the grocery store baked with sugar wrapped in a nice clean suranwrap. That is not a dessert, it is a failed attempt to sell/ market a dessert. Recommendations: like all restaurants there is always room for improvement. 1. Change locations, a different location in a richer part of town can gain higher traction and better customers. 2. Use better ingredients, if you buy crap, cook crap, it will still taste like crap. 3. Expand the buffet and bring up fresher foods. Your money maker is the buffet. It keeps your customers full and not eat all your high dollar meats.

Sorry I can't say anything was worthwhile here. Not worth a GROUPON! Scrappy meat cuts questionable quality and the list of disappointment reigns on.

Had lunch there today after reading the review in Gambit. Really good! No Liquor License, so it's BYOB. Check out the review. I had some sausage, bacon wrapped chicken and a piece of steak off the grill, plus a few items off the buffet. Excellent and the best Flan I ever had anywhere. Not fancy, but clean and the owners really nice! Definitely want to take Barry and if anyone wants to go...let me know and we can plan an outing. NO FRIED CATFISH OR SHRIMP HERE On our way to Louis Armstrong International for the final time this year, it would be much preferred by us to dine anywhere but inside the airport. Also the idea of not eating fried catfish and shrimp po-boy wasn't such a bad idea. $14.90 lunch buffet includes no limit visits to the grill and cold or hot side dishes. Beverages are extra. We didn't want to be wasteful. So we requested one single small plate sampler which in itself is beaucoup amounts of beef, chicken, pork and sausages. My favorite meats were the pork belly and the Brazilian spicy link sausage. Dinner buffet is only a few dollars more which is still a good price. BTW, the meats are not premium grade but are excellent in quality and well seasoned. If you care to cook for yourself at home, within the restaurant is a small Brazilian grocery store that includes a butcher shop.

We bought a groupon to try this restaurant, then read the reviews and were horrified by some of the comments. We went on a Monday, a federal holiday and were charged the regular weekday lunch price. We were not charged for drink refills and there was no funny business with our check, the total minus the groupon value and we owed the difference. Simple. Meats were excellent, we especially liked the chicken and the top sirloin. Sausage and ribs were also very good. The guy on the grill was friendly and helpful, wait staff also great. We will return. We agree that the salad offerings were a bit simple but most people go for the meat I would think.

I went for the first time for dinner yesterday and the worse thing is that I haven't discovered this place sooner. Churras is absolutely amazing! The buffet was very hot and fresh and a variety of different things. All of the meats were spectacular! Nice crispy outside and juicy on the inside! The waitresses are super nice. The price is on point too. I am gonna recommend this place to everyone I know! So yummy! I've found my new favorite restaurant for sure!

As I lay here thinking about my 4 month stint with my job here near New Orleans and the places that I have gotten the pleasure of eating at, it strikes me that this is only one of two places that I would deem a 5 star in my book. I passed this place maybe a dozen times and judged the book by it's cover, naughty naughty but you know what? I finally got tired of eating mall food court places and the casino buffet down the road as well. I stopped in the parking lot and skimmed over some reviews. "Charge by the pound", nope, not going to do that, especially when the plates are seemingly already 2 lbs each. These aren't your dollar store plates, they are sturdy, thick, non scuffed from timely use and can show you the stars when planted on your head as a haymaker, ouch! Outside parking seems ample for the business here. It was a 1pm Saturday visit and only the front row was taken up but 10 feet back the second row was empty. Entrance, your first impression is it's clean, could use a little better looking interior design but that would probably raise the price up. What you get here is a no nonsense meat fest, reasonable pricing, very attentive and friendly staff. I was greeted by the nice looking waitress asking me if I have ever been here before. After holding my head down a little in shame she explained a little on what to do, asked what I wanted to drink and where to sit. I headed towards the buffet part which was full of items I could not for my life remember the names except for the plaintains (Fried bananas), white rice and other sides that I was allowed to photograph. On to the parilla. The guy behind the counter asked if I have been there before and what kind of meat did I want. I told him that I wasn't sure at the moment and squinted a little to see what was on the grills, without hesitation he fixed me up with an assortment of meat on a 7" plate. Pretty much everything I tried had good flavor, was not dry as I was thinking and for the price on the weekend of $17.23 (tax included butt not drink) is very reasonable compared to the $25 that I am used too in Houston. You don't get the goucho boys coming to your table with racks of the meat but instead you go and get it which one shouldn't mind at all unless they were on some intricate date. Service: Courteous, genuine and non obtrusive. Oh, and they aren't there in the back texting on their phones, leaning up against the counter in a group or sitting at a table in your view eating while scoping out your every move. Sorry, pet peeve of mine but did not find anything like that here. They do have a selection of beers here as well as three televisions for your viewing pleasures. The all you can eat is a different price on the weekdays so I probably will provide that information today when I get back. They do have a dessert selection but I was so bloated to wheres't it looked like I was expecting a baby at about 2 months. O o. Attached or in the same suite is a meat market where I assume they get their meat for the grill as well. A pretty good selection if you want to go home and do this yourself. Parilla not included. Unfortunately within a couple of weeks I will get transferred back to Texas with the memory that this place strongly reminded me of the comfort type food I would always find at home. Laying here typing this review and thinking about that food again makes me promise myself that I am going to get up in a few hours and go back to this hidden gem that took me a while to find. Thank you staff, cooks and the owners for being so courteous to an out of town stranger and making me feel like I was back in Houston again. I will tell everybody I know about this place and to not worry about the outside not looking fancy because there is food gold inside!

Churra's is a churrascaria in a strip mall in Kenner, its obviously not an upscale corporate chain restaurant like Texas DeBrasil. That's not to say its better or worse, its just not at all the same thing so bear that in mind if your expecting all the trappings of corporate rather than first generation owned dinning. That said, I'm a fan, the salad/ accompaniment bar is decent with some exotic (for a non-south american) flavors, the grill station (no table service on meats) offers some good options (steak, filet, sausage, chicken, beef rib) that are both tasty and well prepared. The location isn't fancy but its clean/comfortable and the staff are accommodating and on top of it. The food isn't the best I've ever eaten, but its really good for a fixed price all you want fresh meat focused buffet. It was definitely more than delicious enough for me to walk out of there so full I felt like I was going to die, what more could you ask for?

I bought a groupon, so average price is around $11. The grilled beef tenderlion is nice, it also have sausage, chicken, etc. Not many choices for vegetables and fruit. It would be better if they provided dessert or ice cream. The juice is great! $3 for a bit bottle, I like passion fruit!

  • Michael S.

The meat at this place is AMAZING. The cold stuff on the buffet line is ok, the hot buffet line is better but, the reason you are going is for the MEAT! The chicken is great, I don't know how they do it but, it's great! All the beef I have had has been perfect as well as their in house made sausage. On the weekends the full thing is like $19-something, did I mention unlimited meat? If your a vegan or something like that stay home. If you're a carnivore this is your place!

After reading the mixed reviews on this place we decided we'd have to be the judge... What a disappointment! All of the negative reviews were true, and some of the good reviews were true (well, sort of). We left knowing we would never return. We felt like we'd payed nearly $70 (2 adults and one kid) for the worst dining experience we've had in a VERY long time. Here's how we see it: * meats were satisfactory. Certainly not nearly as tasty as a Fogo or Texas de Brazil, and nowhere near the selection. On a Saturday night they only had sirloin, pork, sausage, and chicken, and those were sporadically available. We basically had to just take what the guy (who, it's true, isn't very customer friendly) would give us. * the buffet was less than stellar. A few things were okay. Just okay. * the drink situation is stupid. $5 for the nastiest tea we've ever tasted, and when I ordered water they brought me a 20oz bottle and charged me $2. It's clear that they rely on add on sales. See next point. * first Brazilian steak house I've been to that charges extra for those delicious little cheese rolls. Like $.40 each! They are like bite sized, lol! Why wouldn't they give them away hoping diners would fill up on bread instead of meat? It was clear that nickle & dime is the way of this disappointing place. In short. Yeah, it's okay, but it's not a great value, and it's just a weird experience. If you decide to give it a try, don't say I didn't warn you.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! The meat selection was diverse but not too complicated. I've been to Fogo de Chao before and I was confused by all the different choices, since I'm not an expert on churrascaria meats. They "salad' bar options were fresh and tasty, as were the juices they have available. They even offer my favorite Brazilian drink, the caipirinha, but I found out after my meal. Ah, well...there is always next time. I used a Groupon on my visit but the prices are VERY affordable, especially compared to bigger name Brazilian steak places. Churra's is casual and good for big and small groups. The waitress, meat carver and owner were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be back soon!

I have tried this place three times, and it has gotten progressively worse each time to the point at which I will now never return. I got roped into going today for lunch with some friends and we all hated it. First, it's an expensive lunch. $19.00 with tax, and that doesn't include a drink or dessert. Second, they are sneaky. We all ordered water. When we were getting our food, they brought us bottled water. No one in America at a dive restaurant orders water and means bottled water. They know this but do it anyway. I waited for the waitress to come back and sent it back and asked for tap water. I got some attitude, and then some tap water. Third, the food sucks. The best thing in the place, and the only reason I agreed to make today's trip, is the grilled pineapple. Which they apparently do not serve now until 4:00. The meats are fatty and tough and the salad bar blows, except for the plantains, which are average.

Meat, meat, and more meat! It cannot get any better than this. Discovered this place one Sunday as we were leaving church. Of course I looked it up on Yelp to read a bit about it and made a mental note to visit sometime. That time came several Saturday's ago for lunch. I think this location used to be an old paint store?! We were promptly seated in a large nearly empty dinning room. I'm guessing that Saturday lunches are not prime time. The waitress took our drink order and instructed us as to how the buffet worked. There are side dishes available at a "serve yourself" bar. The sides were varied and good. You take your plate to the grill and select the meats that you want. The choices included, beef, chicken, lamb, and sausages. The garlic steak was excellent, the sausages were awesome. You can eat yourself into a stupor at Churras! Don't let the strip mall storefront scare you away. This is NOT an overpriced chain establishment. The prices are less than half of what you will pay at Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil. Granted the scenery is not as beautiful, but hey...are we here to eat or enjoy the scenery? This place is a must for meat lovers.

The meat selection here isn't as big as Fogo de Chao's nor is their salad bar, but the taste of some meats are as good as Fogo's. The only disappointments were that my Caipirinha drink didn't have as much alcohol as a Caipirinha should have, and the filet mignon (my favorite kind of steak) was overcooked. Usually the meats have a range of cooking settings, but all of it was overcooked so it was just really hard and chewy. I recommend the chicken wrapped in bacon, though! Service wasn't an issue since I went during the day on a weekday, and it was slow, so my friend and I were the only ones. Also, don't dress up too much, you'll just feel out of place like I did.

Just got back from dinner. This was my first time there and my first time at a churrascaria. The staff was super friendly and the meat just kept coming and coming, every time I went up I sampled a different cut and I enjoyed all of it. Their home made sausage is something I think I want to pick up from the grocery side of the shop the next time I'm there. I ordered soda, but my better half got one of their juices, I think I'll have to get that next time too. All in all I recommend anyone that enjoys eating meat check it out.

We stumbled upon this place while trying to find Little Little Chinatown. We went in but they were not ready to serve food. SO we shopped the grocery and bought some tiny cheese breads (I looked up how to make them at home so now have a great new dish to make). They were empty the first time and SHOULD have been serving by then... We didn't understand how such a nice place with nice people could NOT be busy... The "menu" isn't really a menu. It's sort of a graduating food bar but with restrictions. So while we did not get to eat that day, we vowed to come back because the owner seemed like a really great guy. Fast forward 2 weeks and we make a special trip from the Westbank to there just to try their food. EVERYTHING about this visit was as awkward as a reference librarian party. Hard to communicate and when you do manage to figure out what was going on, you are still not sure it's right. Ok...so maybe a cross between the reference librarian stuff and virgin sex. Even though we got there 15 minutes after service started..it hadn't actually started. But we waited until the meat cook said he had a few dishes up to rare temp. Some rare chicken, pork and beef...Rare beef isfine for me but the Girly needs her meat over-cooked. So she went for just the buffet and I went with the buffet with grill. But here is the thing. It is a far cry from a all you can eat buffets we are all used to abusing ourselves with. This is Soup Nazi buffet. 10.90 a pound for the buffet and grill. 7 for just the buffet. You can only make 2 dishes out of the buffet plus salad. You get a VERY heavy plate. Then you go through the buffet and grill line. Then (the bane of all American buffet goers) you must weigh your plate of food so they can charge you accordingly. Ok...I call foul with that one. Nothing makes a meal more difficult and uncomfortable than having to budget your food by weight. Seriously...think about it. How much will this tomato slice cost me and will it stop me from getting some rice??? Or can I have 30 beans or have to stick to 20? It's totally not happy-making. But while they say they are weighing your food, they are not. They are weighing your food AND plate. As I mentioned earlier, the plates are HEAVY. I had (100% serious here): 2 tablespoons of rice. A table spoon of beans, a tablespoon of greens, a tablespoon of stewed meat and half a plantain. At MOST...10 bites if I was lucky. I also got 3 1/8th inch slices of mostly fat rare beef with absolutely NO seasoning or marinade. They were the size of playing cards cut in half. That somehow came up to 1.5lbs (Heavy plates). It took me 3 minutes to eat and I left hungry. The girly had just the buffet and hers came up to .8lb and yes...she had almost nothing. Those plus 2 teas with no refills...almost 25 bucks for lunch. SO while I liked the owner, I can totally see why the place is ALWAYS so empty. We waddled out of there not because we were so full...but because we were butt-raped by the place (the girly's words)...I seriously feel completely wallet molested for something that didn't even fill up the little Girly and did nothing but make Fat-man sad and angry. I can't picture any reason to ever go back when there is a MUCH more affordable Brazilian restaurant on the same road. Plus...the ladies at the other restaurant just love to share their food and make you feel like long lost relatives.

We had a great time here!! All the meat you can eat, the man serving the meat was so helpful, nice and accommodating! Upon paying we talked with the owner and he was very friendly and talked to us for a while about his business. This is a simple restaurant with delicious food.

First off, I'll admit that I came here after I saw that there was a Groupon available and I don't think I'd return again. The buffet line didn't really have much that most people would want to eat. There were two different types of rice, two different types of beans, kibbe, fajita beef (no tortillas), "chicken" lasagna (they used salami in it... really gross), pot roast, soggy zucchini, weird potato salad, pasta salad with LOADS of mayo, and normal salad. None of it was good enough to warrant seconds... or to finish what we already took. The meats were ok. Most definitely weren't as good as Fogo or TdB, but that's to be expected, especially for the price. I did enjoy the sliced sirloin and I think it was the most flavorful piece of meat offered. The sausage and filet were also ok. We went with three people and the Groupon ($22) covered two meals, but no drinks. We ended up paying $28 for one meal and three drinks, so it ended up being exactly $50 before tip for our meals. It's simply not that great of a deal and I certainly don't think we ate anywhere near $50 worth of food.

It's a bit of a hike, but my motto is "have groupon, will travel." The restaurant is in a very unassuming building, decorated like a McDonalds. But, I didn't come for the decor, this isn't Zagat. Bottom line: I love meat with a side of meat. If you love meat, then this place is for you. Also, we should be friends. I will leave this review in the same style as the restaurant: simple but satisfying. Delicious. Go. Now.

This place really encourages you to eat a great deal and they don't want you leaving here hungry. When you first walk in they ask if you've been before and they explain the process and sometimes bring little extra items for you to sample. They have a large selection of items on their "buffet" and then you order grilled meats from the grill counter. All of the grilled beef items I had seemed very similar in taste and the guy working the grill didn't seem to understand English so well so maybe something was lost in translation. I ate three plates of meat and a large plate of "buffet" items and was very full for lunch. This is a place where they want to you linger and enjoy your meal and really get your money's worth and I like that attitude a lot. The folks that work here seem very attentive to wanting you to have a good experience.

This is not your typical buffet. The main attraction is the meat, which comes at a high price. Although all the meat was very good you can't really get your money's worth because your stomach will not digest it well- so one plate is about all you can handle and two will put you in a "meat coma." I was trying the Paleo diet/lifestyle for a bit and that's why this place peaked my interest. I probably wouldn't visit again until they drop the price. After tax and tip I ended up spending $24.00 for lunch which is just too expensive for what I got and since it's Buffett style you obviously can't ask for a to-go box when you've had enough. The place was very clean and the employees were very pleasant.

A carnivore's delight, a recently-opened Brazilian style buffet where MEAT is the shining star. You must enjoy grilled meats: beef, pork, chicken, and sausage. In addition to the meats, the buffet consisted of Brazilian foods: yellow-colored rice, beans, fried plantains, fried yucca, potato salad, diced tomatoes, etc. (did not see green salads), We were there during the weekend, ALL you can eat for one price. For two adult buffets, the bill was approximately $40. (The price is less during the week days, especially during lunch time). Being first-timers at the restaurant, we were unsure what and how to order the meats. The servers suggested a "sampler plate" with a variety of meats, beef, pork, chicken, and sausage. They were all tasty. Next time I will try the short ribs and chicken hearts. The place was not fancy, but it was CLEAN and the waitstaff FRIENDLY and approachable.

We had a delicious meal at Churra's last night ... Of course it cannot be compared with an upscale steak place, but their Brazilian Grill Churrascaria is great and we had caring servers .... I especially loved the filet mignon ... they also served grilled sirloin, chicken, ribs, pork loin and sausage. I did not try the chicken because I eat chicken so much at home ... They serve meats sliced directly from grill skewers onto your plate at the grill station and the other buffet offers stews, bean and rice, sausage patties, salad fixings, plantains, fruit and an array of sides ...... Brazilian Grills usually sell food by the pound where they weigh your plate to determine cost ... but Churra's now offers a one price buffet .... Of course you can buy all foods to go by the pound ...... Next timeI we will go on the weekend. They charge $2 more ($24) on weekends but they also serve grilled lamb ... my favorite meat, yum .... However, I am a native New Orleanian so I would rather eat luscious seafood any time!! Review by Ian McNulty that inspired us to try Churra's Brazilian Grill bestofneworleans.com/gam…

For those of you who love ethnic food where the owners and waiters barely speak a word of English, this place is right up your alley! And you have to like meat. Churra's is a traditional Brazillian grill where meat is constantly prepared at a large grill and served to customers who walk up about point to the meats they want. There is technically a menu that is up on the wall, but I'd recommend walking up to the grill and saying which kind of meat you want and at what temperature. Beef, pork, and chicken dishes are all perfectly marinated and well cooked. I've been twice. The meat is cooked to order. There is a buffet with delicious Brazilian been and rice dishes. Terribly cheap and very filling. On a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, it's well worth the trip out to Kenner for a cheap and delicious Brazilian meal.

If you are a carnivore, this is the place you want to go. The food is absolutely delicious. The meat is grilled to whatever temperature you would like. This isn't like the other Brazilian restaurants where the gauchos walk around with the meat on big skewers(I was told by our waiter, that they are eventually going to switch to that route). You walk up to the counter and tell the grill man what kind of meat you would like and the temperature and he puts it on a plate for you. The service is very pleasant and if you have any questions, they will explain to you like you're a damn first grader. I've read some of the reviews here and the main complaint was price on to go orders. I believe they have started weighing the food in the styrofoam containers. I believe the price to go is $9.99 a pound. Where else can you go and get a 1lb filet cooked to perfection for $9.99?? That question was rhetorical!!! The answer is more than obvious.....NOWHERE!!! Give this place a try and I promise you will not be disappointed!!!

Best homemade sausage in the city. Picanha is incredibly good too. The owners are also very friendly. Highly recommended.
