Quite possibly one of the best shrimp and cheese omelets I have ever eaten. The decor is not that attractive and the table was wobbly and needed to be wiped down but the food was fantastic! The waitress complaining about working a double might have been a turnoff to some but when she compensated by playing ridiculous pop songs on the Internet jukebox the morning just became comical. And then I bit into that shrimp and cheese, bell pepper and onion omelet and all was right with the world.

Easily the best diner I have ever experienced. I was super grumpy one night and hubby suggested I put some happy-inducing pancakes into my tummy. We headed over to this 24-hour joint around 10:30-11'ish in the p.m.There were a few people heading in and out, apparently picking up to-go orders. As the front is all windows, you can see from the get go that Pit Stop is a shabby little gem that looks like time has forgotten it since the 70's. From the random broken tile effect on the floors to the haunting fluorescent lighting, the age of the establishment is palpable. Upon entering, I made a comment to hubby that it was freezing inside. The very kind and sweet server directed us to a little nook of a booth by a window near the door. The windows are old so the warm outside still permeates it's way through, and that table didn't have an AC fan nearby. She walked away saying she'd adjust the temp, although I insisted that wasn't necessary. The menu was very greasy spoon appropriate; however, I did not go over it with much detail as I already knew what I was set on. We ordered the tall stack and a Western omelet with hashbrowns. The pancakes came out first, which consisted of three large cakes, each measuring the diameter of my face. This is an approximation, I did not hold the pancake to my face for accuracy. They were served with packets whipped spread and syrup on the side. They were pretty incredible. The texture was fantastic, not too wet or grainy and they were just the right amount of sweet. A couple of sides were a little darker than others (those were faced down), but I don't mind pancakes that are a little done. Then the Western omelet came out. This bad boy was a three egg beast with hefty chunks of ham, onion, peppers, tomatoes, and cheese. Usually I ask "where's the filling" on omelets, but not on this day... the goodness was just bursting out of its perfectly cooked eggy home. FTW! The hashbrowns were unlike any I have ever had. They were light and fluffy, not weighty and greasy. It reminded me of couscous. I probably could have blown them off my plate, had I sneezed. I really liked it. And they were fabulously seasoned to give them just a little bit of heat, doing away with my usual need for salt and ketchup (our server provided us with a bottle of ketchup, just in case). I really liked our server, she was informative and friendly. In addition to the seat recommendation, she made menu recommendations (the shrimp omelet-which I may have to indulge in next time), refilled our drinks in a timely manner, and graciously informed us to pay at the register (instead of most places that make you guess and wait around). The price was very reasonable, I think our total bill came to about $12 or $14 for our meals (we drank water, so this doesn't include beverages). The Pit Stop is definitely on the short list for brekkie, a lazy lunch (I foresee a day when a poboy and a beer will hit the spot), or some emergency grub when the rest of Houma's businesses are asleep for the evening.

Best breakfast I've had in a long time. This is not a place you frequent for atmosphere. You come here for good food.

I love this place. Best poboys in town. Outstanding breakfasts and open 24/7. Not fancy but great.

Serious greasy spoon/diner, check your silverware. Breakfast of champions, skip denny's or wafflehouse and head straight here without hesitating. Biscuits and gravy goodness, omelets. Affordable, filling, get here. Don't tell your doctor.
