Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Staying at the Baymont Hotel across the street, I decided to walk over for lunch. Considering the other restaurants in the area (fast food) this seemed a better choice. Service was fast. I was in and out within 45 minutes. I didn't like the salsa. Tasted (and looked) EXACTLY like 'Pace Medium Chunky Salsa' you get in the jar at the grocery store... Personally I don't like this kind of salsa, and I've come to expect better from mexican restaurants. I ordered the 'Tamales' lunch special - 3 tamales with rice and beans. Tamales were good, a little on the small side, but there was 3 of them, with a good amount of meat inside. The rice and beans were pretty standard, what you'd expect. The lunch special and a iced tea - $12.00. Not to bad. In conclusion, this restaurant seems to have standard mexican food. Nothing outstanding from what I can tell, but the food is definitely editable and tasted good. I've had better, and I've had worse... this place is right in the middle. It beats the other fast food options you have in the area- especially if you are staying at the hotel across the road.

Service was very good and pretty wick. Ate there at lunch on Saturday. Prices were good for meals, but really high on sides like guacamole and cheese sauce, they were almost as much as a meal. The restaurant was clean. The out side of building looks like a house or hotel or something else

Came for work lunch one day and all of us were a bit disappointed. I got the chimichanga, which I thought was supposed to be a fried burrito. No crispiness, very soft. Good flavor tho. The other guys got tuna steaks. One steak was tiny compared to the other, and they were both over cooked. By a lot. And the service was kinda meh. They bring your food out on carts, which seems just not right. These carts roll around all day and seemingly never get clean, and now my food is on them bouncing around. No thanks.

Was not all that good...service could have been better. Had a chili cheese burito. ...did NOT enjoy it...had better at taco tico. Just not a place that I would recommend.

Descent Mexican restaurant in Houma. I come here a lot for business meetings and I have always been satisfied with the food and service. I usually get the steak quesadillas! BOTTOM LINE: Best Mexican restaurant in Houma? Probably.

I love Mexican food and even enjoy the Americanized versions sometimes. La Casa del Sol is one of those that I did not enjoy. Sure it was clean, the staff was attentive, and the time it took to receive the food was good. But, store bought chips and a can of stewed tomatoes with onions and peppers heated up does not make the cut. I tried the guacamole because I wanted something to dip my chips into (as I said, the salsa was not good and frankly inedible), I have never heard of sweet red peppers in guacamole. They were so abundant that every bite had red peppers. After all of the mishaps, I decided to play it safe and go with chicken tacos. They were all right, shredded chicken, chopped lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese, kind of difficult to mess this up. Unfortunately, the choices for Mexican food are limited in the area and sometimes I don't want to cook my own, so I will probably end up here again and one more time regret my choice.

Perhaps the worst Mexican place I've been to. Ordered a bowl of Chili, it looked good but had no flavor so I asked for some chili powder. "sorry it's locked up in the kitchen" if u go here don't expect much. Since this is where my company had set up an account I ate there three nights before just paying my own way elsewhere.
