My favorite place gets all the stars. It's a local place, not a tourist joint. (The only tourists I've seen here were foreign visitors who ripped through 10 pounds of crawfish in 9.3 seconds. It was actually scary.) The remodel looks great and has really brightened up the place, too. You'll be relieved to know that they still have the claw machine and jukebox. I can't go without getting boiled crawfish AND the fried shrimp basket, complete with curly fries. I have never had a bad meal here and it's the best place to get fried shrimp. First of all, they're huge! And always fried perfectly. Just dip in hot sauce and you're good to go. They have all sorts of fried seafood, boudin, and raw oysters. but it's just so hard to stray from my proven favorites. Put it on the list to compare to your usual joint, and I'm sure you'll be swayed. Afterall, I'm sure your restaurant doesn't greet you with 6-foot crawfish and alligator statues.

went here today for 10 pounds of crawfish it ended up costing us about $50 bucks $4.75 a pound. this place has to be doing something right cuz there was hardly any parking. i havent been in a while but i noticed they added some tvs. the staff seems to be have gotten friendlier which is good. if you are looking for some seafood with no frills this is your place.

Very friendly service- no so good food- average.

I think the fried seafood is always a little bland. Don't waste the money for potatoes - they are pretty bland, too. Now that that's out of the way - this place is great for boiled seafood. Great crawfish (don't say crawdad's or they will smile at you), pretty good blue crab, excellent shrimp, and the sausage is okay, too. You order by weight (or count for the crabs). It's no fancy place but it is a local eatery with regular returning customers. I try to eat here with a friend every time I'm in the area. The wait staff is great and this is NOT a chain. The Perino's seafood shop down the highway is owned by the same family but not the same folks. Clean, genuine, great service, great boiled seafood, real nice family atmosphere - what more could you ask for?

feels like the real louisiana here. families dining on a weeknight on crayfish and boiled shrimp and crabs. my eavesdropping told me the customers said things like "the usual" and that they were related to the waitstaff. so to me, originally from the east coast and living in los angeles, it felt authentic. i think it's a chain but it still felt like i was in on some bayou secret. had to ask for crayfish peeling lessons but it was easy and they taste good so there was payoff for the work. fresh oysters on the half shell. washed down with some abita. shrimp were a little too salty for me but my dad liked them. that is the loss of one star. oh yeah and big, shared tables. no one ever came and sat near us. could they tell we are yankees?

After going to the Perino's market/sitdown lunch spot, this Perino's is the better looking sister! We ordered about 3 lb. of boiled crawfish, potatoes, corn, and a dozen crabs. SOOOOO GOOD!!!!! We ate and ate and ate some more. The service was good and the food was great!
(4)Christina T.
The crawfish (when in season) is really good here. Very laidback atmosphere. I've tried the fried catfish before also which is pretty good. Somewhat noisy/sports bar ish but a good place to eat. I can't stand going to the westbank but definitely would go for this place.

We were told this was a great place, but I was utterly disappointed. Upon arriving you are greeted by multiple dangerous and exotic animal taxidermy. Apparently the owner enjoys killing Big Game animals and showing off his trophies more than he cares about his guests. It had stormed a few hours earlier and apparently knocked out the power to the restaurant for 5 hours according to our server. We had ordered 5 lbs of Crawfish, a few sides of corn and sausage, some Gator and a dozen mixed charbroiled oysters. After we ordered, the server proceeded to let us know that due to the power outage the Crawfish were room temperature. She politely asked if we were ok with the room temp mud bugs, which was fine because we had gotten some great ones at the Jazz festival the day before that weren't hot either. These lil bastards weren't the same. The corn and sausage were as old and shriveled as old man sack. She did remove the squishy critters and lack luster sides to heat them up..why we couldn't get new ones is a mystery. The tables started filling up around us with locals who seemed to be enjoying the piping hot food, which we were denied. Steam was actually coming off the plates near to our table..while ours was a mushy pile of ew. The gator was good and piping hot.. The oysters were just kinda gross. The server told us that they were all sent home after waiting around hours without power, and then called back to come in after they got back up and running. You would think they would have made sure to provide customers with freshly prepared food before they opened back up. Not impressed...

WOW. This place is everything I wanted in a NOLA crawfish boil place: 1. The ambiance- casual. The food was served in a large vat, and they give you another vat to put your "ruins" in. It is fun to see one empty as you fill the otther one. There are the old style video games in the back. It is nothing fancy, but you still feel comfortable at this sit-down restaurant. They keep it casual, but it is a clean and friendly atmosphere. The staff was very polite and constantly checked on us. I don't think my water glass ever got close to empty. Also the locals are here, so you KNOW this place is good! We saw this old couple who have been coming there "as long as they could remember"- they swear by it! 2. The food Crawfish- How do they pack so much flavor!? SO good! The tails just slipped easily out of the crawfish, easy to eat. Shrimp- also good, but not my favorite. For some reason, the crawfish seemed to hold in the flavor. For 3 lbs crawfish is the same price as 1 lb shrimp, so I'd stick to that Fried catfish- crispy outside, juicy inside. Perfect. Fries- perfect counterpart to your seafood. Boiled corn- doesn't have the spices of the boil, but tastes fresh LOVED it here, would recommend that everyone take the short trek away from the French Quarter to enjoy a local bite here.

Crawfish season is here and I am at Perrinos! Y'all know I no longer live in NOLA but come crawfish season I am home more that twice per month! Get ya mind right at Perrino's! I usually only go to the site in Westwego but this one is new and right out of the tunnel. So we stopped in and was so pleased with everything. Tried almost the whole menu and was full and still eating. Le bon temps role!

Located on the West Bank right past the Harvey Tunnel (depending on which way you approach it) near a night club & a motel. Seems like a family owned restaurant more than a chain restaurant, that's a plus #supportlocallyowned. Walk in you can sit at the bar or seat yourself & sit in the animal adorned dining area. Loads of gaming animals both large & small lets you know the owner/decorator is a hunter... Ya think? Spooky, yet kinda cool. So on to the food & the service. The menu is sure to please even the pickiest eater; gumbo, fried seafood, boiled seafood, salads, there's something for everyone. Drinks by way of soda, water, draft & bottled beer, cool beans. Service is good, I found the servers to be attentive & that's a plus. But I didn't like paying $2.75 to make my platter a po-boy; why charge for bread, lettuce, tomatoes & pickles when you're already paying for the platter????? Why not just charge for a po-boy??? Anyway, the food was seasoned properly; a quick go to place for my 'seafood fix' while on the West Bank.

While in town for my annual vacation to NOLA, wanted to get some fresh seafood away from the more tourist popular places. This place did not disappoint. We decided to get the boiled seafood, I got blue crabs and shrimp, my friend got the dungeness crab and shrimp. We also had gumbo for appetizer. The seafood was very well seasoned with a little kick which I loved! I'm from Florida and love a good crab boil. The gumbo was okay. I am soooo happy we found this place and will definitely be back.
(4)Trang N.
Ok, I love this place. I am a big fan now. I use to go to Salvo's, but after coming here I realized Salvo's crawfish is dirty.... Anyway I came here with my bf! we wanted oysters, crawfish, and a poboy! First off they were busy, so we opted for the bar! we had crawfish first and they were $5.57 a pound two weeks ago when we went. It was delicious! the oysters were good also! after we ate our oysters, they had opened a new sack and we were watching the shucker shucking HUGE OYSTERS!!! I was definitely jealous! Any way we shared the oyster platter and made it a poboy! it was very good. the fried oysters were huge! and it was a good amount! This will be my to go spot for some crawfish!!
(4)Patricia L.
I came here looking for fresh seafood, and I definitely found it! My only complaint would be that perhaps the chargrilled oysters were a tad bit too cheesy that it completely masked the oyster taste, but otherwise everything was great! Even the corn on the cob, as simple of food as it is, was great because it was slightly seasoned.
(4)Joe H.
The place is big, with lots of tables. Seated right away, great friendly service. Definitely a place for the locals, which is awesome. Nice, casual atmosphere. Best seafood I've ever had! Charbroiled oysters are amazing. Their gumbos are second to none. They have fried baskets...shrimp, oysters, crab claws, alligator, crawfish, catfish, soft-shell crab, etc... I got the fried oyster basket with curly fries. A very generous portion of oysters for only $14.....fresh and tasty. Their Po-Boy sandwiches are excellent. Overall, if you like seafood, this place is as good as it gets. No frills, no gimmicks, just great seafood at great prices.

First of all, my whole family is from New Orleans so don't discount some Alabamian's opinion of seafood. We went here the day we were leaving from Mardi Gras weekend. We had a variety of things come to our table, so I was able to try a lot of things. We were immediately seated when we came in. The place is big. But most tables were full for lunch. So I'm sure it can get packed at peak times. I split an order of raw oysters. This time of year provide some of the best oysters and these were no different. Good size and flavor. My sister got the crawfish boudin and my wife got the gumbo. Both were pretty good, but not great. The texture of the boudin was lacking. And the gumbo was a little thin for my preference. We didn't get any boiled seafood. But a majority of the restaurant did. So I would figure they are pretty good. The crawfish looked small. But it is still pretty early in the season. You can bet that I will try it later in the spring when the crawfish are big and delicious. For the entrees, I was able to try the crawfish tails and they were pretty good. I've tasted better crab claws. But good none the less. The quantities were HUGE in the seafood baskets. You will not go hungry with any of these it appears. I got the fried shrimp and honestly they are some of the best I have ever had. So they are highly recommended. Prices were good and nothing was bad. If you are in the area and craving some seafood, Perino's is the spot to go.

Child..... they had the nerves to be closed BC it was memorial day weekend. I was too through
(1)Jen B.
We were aiming for another local spot but they were closed on a Monday! Ended up at Perino's based completely on Yelp reviews and they were right! Delish! We had the shrimp, corn, potatoes and I even picked a blue crab like my Grandma taught me. I think I used half a roll of paper towels, too. That's the sign of a good boil place!!!
(4)Vicky L.
I came here on a weekday, and I was surprised how busy it was, but we were still able to get a seat easily. The crawfish was $4.99 a pound for some small crawfish. It was well seasoned though. Not too spicy, yet right amount of all the seasonings and salt. A bowl of gumbo was a little watery, but it was filled with lots of seafood. I don't know if I'll be back, but if I'm nearby, I'll certainly consider it.
(4)Lisa P.
Crawfish are good when they are not reheated! Do not buy boiled shrimp... Even when shrimp are in season they are ridiculously over priced! 15.00 per pound or 42.00 for 3 pounds! We have access to Louisiana shrimp and this is not Tennessee or Kentucky! Will not pay that price!
(4)Melissa B.
Been very disappointed in perinos. They are serving old crawfish for lunch. In the past 2-3 weeks my husband and I have tried to get crawfish for lunch and we paid a good bit of money for small, soft, tasted old crawfish. We won't be coming back any time soon for crawfish. Love the soft-shelled shrimp.
(3)Adriana K.
Super over priced (though you do get a ton of food) and the poboys we had weren't all that flavorful. We ordered three poboys, a stuffed artichoke, a salad and sodas and it was over $100. Would not return.

Perino's is a casual, very lively, middle-class boiled (and, some fried) seafood restaurant along U.S. Hwy. 90 (business route) in Harvey, Louisiana. The outside is plain, and parking is also available at the hotel spot (which seems to be owned by Perino's), behind the restaurant building. The interior is decorated with numerous big-game animals that the owner bagged on an African hunting tour. We ordered the fried shrimp plate and the fried soft-shell crab plate. Both plates come with curly fries, but not salad. The shrimp were big, juicy, and plump. My friend's soft-shell crab plate came with three decent-sized crabs. We both remarked on how nicely spiced the items were and how none of it was greasy. This is definitely a landmark neighborhood joint, and we were very impressed. Highly recommended and would return. We visited New Orleans and, coming from the Northeast, had never done a crawfish boil before. I'm glad we made the trek for this! We got crawfish, crab, corn, potatoes, and sausage - all delicious. I ate many pounds of crawfish myself, it was so good! The corn was also great. The sausage was nothing spectacular, but it wasn't bad - and the crawfish was really the only thing I cared about.
(5)Eddie C.
This is a no frills seafood restaurant/bar. In my opinion, the perfect place to bring an outatowner for some swinging fried seafood. The standout I think is the fried shrimp. Im not a big friend seafood fan, slows me down too much and makes me feel yucky, but the batter here and consistent quality shrimp they sell is awesome! The fried oysters and just as good! Also have fired alligator meat. That's always a tourist favorite. My second must have item is the raw oysters. Man oh man they hit the spot everytime. The location may seem a bit sketchy. It is part of a hotel and real close to some funky clubs (to be reviewed soon) and if your not looking for it, easily missed. There is the westbank expressway, upper and lower. You need to be down on the service road by the Harvey Tunnel. The atmosphere is kinda low key no frills, but it is huge and absolutely made for large groups. No reservations needed, I dont think they do them anyways, but a group of 20 is easy for these people. Its long tables, maybe folding for all I know, with covers on them. Each table has a nice assortment of sauces. Hot sauce, mayo, cocktail sauce, katsup, different hot sauces and tar tar. A roll of paper towels too, as also a steel tray that is used to hold the trays. They have a bar room along with pool tables too. Draft beer is available. Call ahead though because they have been known to close for vacation. And trust me, nothing ruins a craving for fried shrimp when you end up at Taco Bell instead
(4)Deb C.
Two words: Charbroiled Oysters! If you don't eat nothing else, please try these! I wanted to eat the shell and lick the plate. Great service and food.
(5)Deanna C.
Crawfish was the bomb. Service was excellent. Was exactly what we were looking for
(5)Droolie Y.
This was our first "Louisiana" cuisine stop and it was delicious! Fabulous staff and amazing prices.. We got a whole Dungeness crab and 3lbs of crawfish, 2beers, fried alligator, and 6 oysters for less than $65.. That's good eating right there and very flavorful!
(5)Jason K.
Tried this place for the first time tonight with friends. First off, do I really have to eat in the company of all the bad taxidermy in this place? Stuffed lion, stuffed monkey, etc. Plus I'm lucky enough to look at pictures of the actual animals when they were killed. None of us were impressed in the slightest. It was disgusting, to be honest. The food was okay. Crawfish? Excellent. Spiced up just right and really juicy. My friend, however, had an order of curly fries that tasted really funny. And no I'm not talking about the seasoning. Everyone tried them and everyone agreed that they tasted off. Our server was friendly but not talkative. No suggestions and really no personality. I guess arriving an hour and a half before closing is asking too much for a simple smile? :/ Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience.
(2)Jovan H.
Perino's Boiling Pot! Where do I begin with this place? First off the hospitality is awesome! Everyone is so nice here. Secondly, the food is amazing. I always come here just for the crawfish because I'm too lazy to cook it myself but wow! This crawfish is always fresh, hot, and seasoned well! I love it when I can come here and get my nasal passage opened from the delicious food. It's great for families, and big groups and especially for out-of-towners! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone just for the food. I just love this place.
(5)Peter W.
I was in NOLA in May for a conference with my fiance. We knew that it was still Crawfish season so we were looking for a good local place to get some good boiled crawfish. We met some locals at the French Quarter and they directed us to Perino's. Boy were we glad they did. We ordered 3 lbs of crawfish and 2 lbs of shrimp. The 2 of us finished the whole tray. The crawfish were wonderful - full of flavor and spice. The shrimps were just so-so, can't compare to the crawfish. It was definitely worth the trip away from the touristy part of NOLA. Price was great. Food was great. We felt like we ate with the locals. Would definitely come back if I make my way back to NOLA.
(4)Connie C.
Completely agree with four stars for this restaurant. It has a very casual atmosphere and the server was very friendly and attentive. However there were dead animals hanging all over the walls in the form of hunting trophies from Africa hunted by the owner. For me that was very strange. For some people it would be very disturbing. However the food was excellent! The blue crabs were the best. The crawfish were cheap and plentiful, fresh and flavorful. Excellent beer on tap for only two dollars!
(4)Mae G.
The only reason they don't get 5 stars is for the lack of a Children's Menu & Extra Parking. We tried this place 3 days in a row to try to get a crawfish boil. First day you couldn't even park. Second Day we finally were able to park, got in line only to find out they were all out of Crawfish. Third day I called them yet again and they confirmed they had crawfish and I told them about our previous days experience and they told me if we came by now then we would be fine. We ate around 3pm and it was fantastic. We did 4lbs of Crawfish, 1lb of potatoes, 2 curly fry baskets, crawfish boudin, and 3 orders of corn for about $48 for the 7 of us. Barely any leftovers. My only negative comment is the waitress being mia and us needing refills and they need a kids menu because $8.95 for chicken tenders for a 2yr old is a bit too much. So come early and sit near the refill station! Lol
(4)Brandy E.
Their charbroiled Oysters are heavenly!!!! May not sound good but oh my goodness they are amazing. Tried the stuffed broiled too they were good but the garlic butter ones were my favorite. The crab was a little over cooked but it was still good. Boiled shrimp was really good but could use a little more cajun seasoning for my taste. Waitress took some getting use to and it was a little unorganized and confusing as to what we were suppose to do when we walked in but over all it was good. They make a Rum Punch ( I requested cranberry substitute for oj) that I could drink a gallon of lol it was yummy!
(4)lin h.
Place is ridiculously overrated. First the decor is confusing. Yes, the owner hunts in Africa and kills ridiculous game (lions, monkeys, wilda beasts) and hangs them up in the restaurant, but seriously, they DO NOT belong in a seafood restaurant. The crawfish boudin looks really unappetizing, but had surprisingly good flavor. The boiled seafood was bland and the spice sucked. This place is average at best. The dungeness crab legs tasted very chemically and briny (they are frozen in a brine solution). There are much much better places in the new orleans area.
(2)Ashley L.
Great food awesome sea food very fresh nothing bad to say great staff I recommend this place to all seafood lovers
(4)Pamela B.
The food here is excellent! I love fresh and hot (temp) food. I had the catfish basket with fries and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo was pretty good, the shrimp were a little overdone. The dungeness crab was excellent.
(5)Reba R.
Absolutely delish! Price is right! Great flavor to the crawfish! The boudin was great as well! Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.
(5)Tim M.
They have good food, fast service and great price. This is where the locals eat. It is not a fancy place but rather a place to drink beer and eat great food!
(5)Heather L.
Perino's exceeded all expectations! I had 3 lbs of crawfish, crawfish boudin, gumbo, and 2 beers for $25. Obviously they get an A for value, but did not stop there. Having waited several years to get my crawfish on, I had built it up in my mind. Everything tasted great - the seasoning was spot on! Jenny was my server: she was attentive and friendly. Chester was behind the bar working on oysters. He was great: we had more fun telling tales and laughing the entire night. I think it's a locals joint, but the people around the bar took me right in. Oh, I did sit on the dark side where the serious drinking happens. Its definitely the fun side of the house. If you are nearby and love crawfish, having fun, nice/good people, or cold beer, then its just a must you stop by here!
(5)Clemente C.
This is probably the closest place to my house that serves decent boiled seafood, but I don't find myself here all that often. I'm not sure why, there's nothing bad keeping me away, but it doesn't have the destination draw to it that other boiled seafood establishments do. I've always loved the neon that adorns the side of the building though, and this season I may make a bigger point of stopping in more often. I constantly crave crawfish and boiled shrimp so I really should stop here more often. The staff is very attentive, their prices while a tad bit on the higher side are always still well within market price range.
(3)Sarah O.
This place is so overrated. We ordered crabs, they didn't have any so we tried Dungeness crab, it tasted like they was frozen in salt water for a long time. The meat was dry, briny, and so salty that I had to ask for some lemon juice to eat with. On top of that we pay 22$ just for 2 legs. Next thing was boiled shrimps. They looked so old, dry and tasted plain like they just got boiled again. We should've went to Hooter, their boiled shrimps are much better than that Overall, I've never tasted any re cooked seafood that worst than that. The only thing this place worth one star is because the waitress was friendly. But I wouldn't come back ever again
(1)Joe D.
If you go to NOLA you have got to take the trip to this hometown favorite and order the boiled crawfish and shrimp. Ask for my waitress, Suzanna, who will patiently teach you to eat crawfish. Now you have to understand that you have to gain the skill fast because when your 5 lbs of crawfish come out your friends who have the eating skill will eat your share as quick as you can say NOLA!! This local no-frills restaurant is needed for tourist and locals alike to get a true feel of New Orleans food. Kudos to you Perino's and hugs to Suzzana who did a great job with us newbies!
(5)Mardi C.
this is fun. family style huge portions we had the crawfish boudin. wow. absolutely my favorite thing that was served. boiled shrimp. they weren't fresh, as in JUST boiled, but they were tasty. the fries, all wonderful. fast service, fun and colorful. a little pricey, but totally worth it. we will be back. fun spot to take a group for sure. more than you can possibly eat for two. yes. charbroiled oysters are fun, but even better are the ones topped with crab and shrimp. excellente
(4)Sheng Y.
This is my favorite spot for crawfish! 5lbs for $28.95 ($30 and some change with tax included). The prices might vary during different parts of the year, but I love coming here for take out. The crawfish are super savory and I love that it has a hint of spicy to it. It will accumulate over time, so have paper towels ready not just for your hands, but for your nose too! The one time I did dine in, I also had crawfish and the server was friendly. She got us in and out of there, just how we planned it!
(5)Ashley D.
Yum yum yum! Boiled crawfish & shrimp were amazing! Fried crab claws were also tasty.
(5)Whitney C.
Ordered the shrimp basket, nice sized shrimp but no flavor whatsoever. Father had the boiled crawfish which he seemed to enjoy. Service was mediocre, not sure if we caught the waitress on a bad day. Atmosphere was family oriented, a lot of stuffed, dead animals (not my thing, but whatever). Decent place but I.probably won't return.
(3)Stephanie L.
Southern hospitality? Check Huge plate of boiled seafood? Check Delicious, juicy, and HUGE oysters? Check My group and I started off NOLA right. I wasn't sure what to expect when we drove up to Perino's just based on what it looks like on the outside. But man oh man, this is when you definitely should not judge a book by it's cover. Everything here was delicious. The only disappointment is that crawfish was no longer in season by the time we got here :( It's okay though, that's just another excuse for us to come back to NOLA and Perino's Boiling Pot! Make sure you get the corn! It's mouth-watering!
(5)Dorothy X.
My sister and I picked this place mainly because of the mouth watering cover picture of a bucket full of seafood, but it was misleading because when we actually went, there didn't seem to be an option of ordering a beautiful bucket of seafood, so we had to order everything separately. We tried the shrimp, dungeness crab, sausages, and fries. Loved the sausages and fries (fatty, unhealthy heaven), and the shrimp tasted fresh. The crab we got was an old/sick crab or something, because the meat was atrophied or non-existent under the shell. But our server told us that the cook gave us an extra crab to make up for it, which was nice. I didn't get to try the crawfish because when we sat down, the server told me "The only thing we don't have is crawfish," and I took that to mean that crawfish was out of season. When I looked over and saw crawfish at the table next to ours after we were done with our lunch, the server explained that she meant that the crawfish was actually not done cooking when we were first ordering. That made my stomach a little sad. So don't assume that crawfish is out of season, ask for it anyways! Compared to Cajun Seafood in the 7th Ward, I like Cajun Seafood better because it has more spices (prices are better as well). But Perino's is definitely fresher.
(3)Dana D.
I rarely enjoy crawfish at a restaurant, because it is not spicy enough and the social aspect of sitting in a backyard with a group of friends is missing. But, I had out of town guests who wanted crawfish and I lacked the energy and funds to throw a big crawfish boil, so after reading some reviews about this place, I figured it was a safe bet. The crawfish here was the spiciest I've gotten at restaurants, and it was served hot! I've gotten crawfish from Big Fisherman and Sal's and it was lukewarm at best- kinda gross. They were spicy, hot, and most of them were pretty big. They added celery to the boil, and I had never had that before, it is a pretty good addition..it soaks up the flavor really well.
(4)Nucky T.
Perino's is a delicious place to eat [ as long as you are eating crawfish ] Having never tried the Craw, I was curious how they were going to taste. Coming out steaming hot, with all the fixings you could need... the crawfish were excellent. They were cooked and boiled in a delicious sauce. Staff assists and tells you how to eat the craw if you have never done so before. I wouldn't recommend anything else here. I tried the alligator and catfish which were heavily breaded and not good, hence the 3 star selection.
(3)Emile C.
I cant see whee all the decent reviews come from about this place. I've been here four times in the last two years and my experience has been an unfortunate regret each time. The crawfish are pre-boiled and reheated before serving. Same story with the crabs and shrimp. The oysters are pre-shucked and stacked on trays in the cooler behind the bar!! Who knows how long they have been back there.
(1)Sandra A.
Eat at Perino's. It's authentic, delicious and the people are very friendly. This is not a place that caters to tourists. Locals hang out here...and if locals are eating it...then you want to, too. The menu is limited, but what they lack in options they more than make up for in quality. We had the Oysters, crawfish and gumbo. It was all fresh, outstanding and a fraction of the price that you'd pay in New Orleans. We spent...ahem...wasted a lot of money at Emeril's and this food was far more superior. I dream of the gumbo.... Eat the gumbo!!
(5)C D G.
It has been a while since I last dined here but it didn't disapoint on a recent visit. Crawfish were not in season yet so I went with my favorite anyway, boiled shrimp! They were seasoned correctly and boiled just the right amount of time. They peeled easy, which makes for a great eating experience. The sausage, corn & potato's were also done correctly. Service has always been exceptional here. I ate at the bar and was met with attentive service and good conversation. This place is a little hard to find but well worth the effort. The crawfish have always been great here so I will be back in a month or so.

Okay...this place is definitely a "local's" restaurant - definitely worth a visit. My "local" friend brought me here, so if I had to find it again, I would get lost...however, as others have stated, definitely a place to enjoy the bountiful seafood from New Orleans. As long as locals continue to eat at the place and not the tourists, this would remain a hidden gem in the Crescent City. Humongous oysters on the half shelf ($10 for a dozen), crabs, crawfish, shrimp, very flavorful, order by the pound. The potatoes and corn on the cob were bland, but you need the blandness to counteract the flavorfulness (in other words, the spicyness) of the seafood. Wash it all down with Abita ale on tap (order by the pitcher) - life is good. The decor is very simple - actually a bit retro (probably original) but you can tell that capital ($$$) is definitely spent on maintaining the quality and quantity of the food being served. Service, seafood quality and quantity are outstanding...wash all down with cold Abita bier...life is good. In a battle between man verses food, seafood may win.

Perinos is overall good. I have eaten there a few times, but sometimes the crawfish can be too salty for my taste so it is not always consistent. The raw oysters are usually pretty fresh and cleaned well although I have tasted a few shell pieces. I enjoy their food most of the time. Also, if you order a side of fries, it comes on a huge platter that could feed a whole village or third world country. The lights in their dining area are extremely bright to where you feel like you need to wear sunglasses, even at 8 p.m. I have also been here before when they ran out of crawfish but failed to tell us until after we ordered drinks, why else would I go to Perinos? No crawfish? It's like a hospital not having doctors! Or a manicure without the polish! What a nightmare! Overall Perinos is a place where I will continually frequent.

Sooooo... The service was great. Nice people. Very nice. The food was not so great. The boiled shrimp was over-cooked. I couldnt get the skin off it and the shrimp itself was dry. The boiled crabs werent good either, it was alright. I thought from the reviews we read that it was going to be worth the drive to other side of the city but the food wasn't. Maybe we just came on a bad day. Idk, but the boiled seafood was not that great from the other reviews, unfortunately. Hopefully it was just a bad day.

This is the place for boiled Craw fish! I ordered the crab as well and it was fresh and tasty. I also ordered the craw fish boudin, Also ordered the seafood gumbo, it was average, but the rest was excellent.Overall it was a very pleasant place to eat. The service wasn't the greatest the second time I went , but the first time was.

I have always wanted to try crawfish. And for my Jazz Fest NOLA trip, I was told that it was the season for it so it was in my MUST list. However, I suffer from ADD whenever I am in New Orleans. There are just too many places to check out, too many dishes to try, and too many family and friends to meet up with in such a short amount of time. My departure looms near, one night left in New Orleans, and still no crawfish. *smacks forehead* But I have a hero in the person of my uncle! Having mentioned to him that I wanted to try crawfish and have not had the opportunity to try this Louisiana favorite, he said that crawfish was what we would be having for my goodbye dinner with him. (Aren't uncles just the best?!?) He took me to Perino's Boiling Pot. Perino's is located in the parking lot of a chain hotel. Not really bothersome considering I enjoyed fried chicken from a gas station before. It has stark fluorescent lighting and really no ambience to speak of. It feels almost like a high school cafeteria (mind, I never went to high school in the US, so this is just how I imagine US high school cafeterias would be like). It's pretty obvious that this is not a touristy place, as most of the diners seemed to be locals. We ordered the deep-fried alligator, deep-fried oysters, raw oysters (the very first I have ever had), and 3 lbs of crawfish (mild). The deep-fried alligator was the least of my favorite, but it could be because I really have no clue how alligator meat is supposed to taste like. It was just tougher and chewier than I would like. The fried oysters were perfectly cooked. The raw oysters were really good -- fresh, succulent, sweet, and soft. I sense more raw oysters in my future. The main dish of the evening for me was the crawfish. It was a cross between shrimp and lobster to me. More meat to be had than shrimp with less shelling, but without the tough/rubbery texture of lobster meat. It was perfectly spiced and just plain delicious. I get it! I totally get the love. I heart crawfish! I would definitely go back here next time I am in New Orleans -- properly dressed in black and hopefully with less problems shelling my crawfish. Besides, I do owe my uncle a crawfish dinner... Note: Here is my only gripe: why the stark lighting?!? I was dressed in my party clothes (I was headed to Frenchmen after the dinner) and obviously a newbie. I imagine I was quite the dinner entertainment for the other diners. Actually, I take that back -- this was not my imagination. Quite a few people, including our waitress, looked my way repeatedly and couldn't hide their good-natured chuckles when I was struggling to shell my crustaceans and when the juices splashed my pretty dress. A slightly darker lighting would have been more than appreciated! But it's all good, Perino's. It was most definitely my fault for showing up looking the way I did. The crawfish more than made up for that awkward dining experience.

We came here from the garden district for fresh crawfish by the pound, which was great. And we stumbled upon the BEST oyster poboy I have ever had. Mind. Blown. Don't be scared away by the "poboy kit" - it ensures everything is fresh and phenomenal for every bite. Wish we lived closer!

This is definitely a place for the locals with exception to this vacationing city girl! This is where my Nola family takes me to dinner when I'm in town. Trust me, they know as soon as I arrive that I want to get some boiled crabs! The food here has always been on point. The only gripe that I have is the last time we went here my auntie called ahead to make sure they had crabs. On the phone they said they had 2 dozen left. We staked our claim on those bad boys but when we arrived we were sadly met with only 1.5 dozen! Someone had called in an order before we got there I guess!!! I was upset and would give them 4.5 for that but the food is great so it gets bumped back to 5. I highly recommend the boiled seafood, especially the crabs. Get all the goodies too like potato and corn. Cool off your mouth from the spicy seafood boil with an ice cold beer! I'm hungry now...
(5)matt h.
Where ya't over der on da best bank baby? Harvey? Yeah, you right! The Berlin' Pot does it right. Hit it on the way to the seafood market in Westwego. If you ain't goin' to boil it up you ownself get on over to the Pot, it's the closest thing, and alot easier.
(4)Jamie L.
Yummmmo! We started out NOLA trip here - not the fanciest place but food was good and reasonably priced! They're open late and service is super friendly. We ordered yummy oysters, boiled shrimp, gumbo, corn and crab. I think we spent the meal in silence because it was so good. :)

This place is worth a trip. While we were driving down to the Westbank, I told my visiting family we were going to go out to the country for a little bit of Cajun life, so of course they were surprised when I pulled into the parking lot of some chain hotel next to a row of strip malls. I would have said "Trust me" but the never do, Ordering is easy. Carwfish, in 1. 3 or 5 pound increments is all you need. That and some corn and sausage. The menu is on a 3x5 card and you can ignore 60% of it. Those 3 items and pitchers of beer...done and done. The crawfish are always the best quality and flavor...and big enough you can eat the claws when the platters are emty, all heads are ripped off, and you are still loitering over beer. The sweet waitress, who had my dad easily pegged as"not from around here" asked where Jazzfest took place and said how she always dreamed of going there. A trip to the country indeed. We told her we'd come back, buy her a ticket and take her next year, and if she is still working there we will. After Katrina, I swore I'd never cross to the Westbank again, but the folks at Perino's weren't the ones threatening to shoot my neighbors on the bridge and sending them back to the convention center without any water, so I make a rare exception and head that way for this restauraunt,.Obviously, the place has to be good
(4)Uriia H.
As a lover of the crawfish, there are many places to get a good batch. The problem is many places only allow for carry-out. Perino's is one great spot to get piping hot crawfish and a cheap pitcher of beer. I have been twice in the last 7 days, and I have to say that I am now a fan. Their crawfish is pretty clean (slim to zero sand and grit). This place has a family typy atmosphere, and the staff is pretty friendly. They have just enough spice to get your nose running, but not too much as to overpower the good flavor. The crawfish prices are pretty competitive, and the beer is fairly cheap. This is a good spot for singles, couples, and families. There are games for the kids as well. Good place to people watch too...saw a group of tourists last week (pretty obvious since they were actually taking pictures holding the crawfish...geez. lol). One member in the group was too afraid to eat one....anywho....if you are looking for a casual atmosphere to suck on a few heads (no pun intended), Perino's is the place. From what I hear, the fried seafood is pretty good too.

(5)Mardi C.
this is fun. family style huge portions we had the crawfish boudin. wow. absolutely my favorite thing that was served. boiled shrimp. they weren't fresh, as in JUST boiled, but they were tasty. the fries, all wonderful. fast service, fun and colorful. a little pricey, but totally worth it. we will be back. fun spot to take a group for sure. more than you can possibly eat for two. yes. charbroiled oysters are fun, but even better are the ones topped with crab and shrimp. excellente
(4)Whitney C.
(5)Emile C.
(5)Sheng Y.
(5)Sandra A.
Eat the gumbo!!

went here today for 10 pounds of crawfish it ended up costing us about $50 bucks $4.75 a pound. this place has to be doing something right cuz there was hardly any parking. i havent been in a while but i noticed they added some tvs. the staff seems to be have gotten friendlier which is good. if you are looking for some seafood with no frills this is your place.

(4)Christina T.
The crawfish (when in season) is really good here. Very laidback atmosphere. I've tried the fried catfish before also which is pretty good. Somewhat noisy/sports bar ish but a good place to eat. I can't stand going to the westbank but definitely would go for this place.

Two words: Charbroiled Oysters! If you don't eat nothing else, please try these! I wanted to eat the shell and lick the plate. Great service and food.
(5)Deanna C.
Crawfish was the bomb. Service was excellent. Was exactly what we were looking for

(5)Connie C.

(4)Annika E.
(5)Sandra A.
(4)M N.
(4)Sheena T.
(3)Tuyet P.
(3)Charlie G.
Newly discovered great place to eat crawfish. Great prices and great service. Thanks to our server Mona!
(5)Brenda B.
(4)Mika Z.
(4)huong t.
went here today for 10 pounds of crawfish it ended up costing us about $50 bucks $4.75 a pound. this place has to be doing something right cuz there was hardly any parking. i havent been in a while but i noticed they added some tvs. the staff seems to be have gotten friendlier which is good. if you are looking for some seafood with no frills this is your place.
(4)Kimberly D.
Very friendly service- no so good food- average.

(4)K S.
(5)Andy P.

Two words: Charbroiled Oysters! If you don't eat nothing else, please try these! I wanted to eat the shell and lick the plate. Great service and food.

Crawfish was the bomb. Service was excellent. Was exactly what we were looking for

(5)Joe H.

(4)Annika E.
(5)Joe D.
(1)Andy P.
(4)Miriam B.
feels like the real louisiana here. families dining on a weeknight on crayfish and boiled shrimp and crabs. my eavesdropping told me the customers said things like "the usual" and that they were related to the waitstaff. so to me, originally from the east coast and living in los angeles, it felt authentic. i think it's a chain but it still felt like i was in on some bayou secret. had to ask for crayfish peeling lessons but it was easy and they taste good so there was payoff for the work. fresh oysters on the half shell. washed down with some abita. shrimp were a little too salty for me but my dad liked them. that is the loss of one star. oh yeah and big, shared tables. no one ever came and sat near us. could they tell we are yankees?
