Awesome food. Great pizza & the best burgers in Hammond (sorry Mariners yours are good but not the best). Get the burger on French bread. Chicken strips tossed in buffalo sauce dipped in ranch dressing, homemade chips. Its always hard for use to choose between Tommy's and La Carreta. Love this place!!

People either love this place or hate it. I find it to be slow and the pizza sauce isn't to my liking. Good cold beer, though, and that's worth a star.

The pizza, calzones, and breadsticks are so good at Tommy's! Margherita and Voodoo pizza are my favorite. Service is average. This is an easy choice when I'm with picky-eaters, because PIZZA.

My favorite restaurant in Hammond, and my first stop every time I come back to town. The Bayou Breadsticks are a must-have. Past that, I usually get a personal pizza with alligator sausage, basil and sweet sauce. Love it. Plenty of other great options, as well. Plus, great draft beer selection. I highly recommend ordering a Canebrake.

I'm giving this a 4/5 because the service was slow... Really slow. And apparently it's not the first time. I wish I'd remembered our servers name because she's infamous for being very slow. However, once the food got there it was delicious! Minus the sweet sauce. Way too watery and not the right flavors for cheese sticks. But the dough was amazing!! Perfectly cooked! The cheese was really good too! Make sure to get the zesty sauce because otherwise you're stuck with the sweet sauce. I prefer sweet tastes with my Asian cuisine and nothing else. I definitely recommend this as the best pizza place in Hammond, LA. The dough and cheese remind of Lamppost Pizza in Southern California!

By far the very best pizza I've ever had. They have a signature sweet sauce. I'm not a fan of sweet stuff, but this sauce is amazing. My recommendation is to keep it simple with just a pepperoni pizza to truly savor the goodness of this pizza. Also they have great apps. Buffalo breadsticks are to die for. The building is really cute and definitely has an old school pizzeria feel to it. The bar has a great selection of beer and other adult beverages. Anytime I'm close to Hammond I stop in. I've also take the hour drive just to eat there.

Took my son and a bunch of his college friends here for lunch. They had no problem accommodating our group of ten and service during our time there was spot on. We ordered two types of breadsticks, a muffaleta sandwich and a few pizzas. The breadsticks are a meal in themselves. Basically pizza dough with toppings but cut into sticks instead of wedges. And with dipping sauce! Fantastic. Got the muffaleta because my travel partner had never had one. Everyone that wanted a piece got one. It's huge! They offer traditional or 'sweet' sauce on the pizzas and all the kids wanted the sweet variety. I was not a fan but perhaps it takes a while to get used to. Or maybe I was just full from the breadsticks and sandwich! Pics are posted of what we ordered during our visit.

This whole restaurant experience was a complete disaster. After waiting over an hour and a half for a water refill (which we had to ask for), we asked if we would be getting our salads. After those came, we waited another 30 minutes to get our food. Finally!! However, we soon discovered that the chicken in the chicken panini was raw. Very raw. I'm talking jiggly. Not exactly what we were hoping for. The waiter was less than impressed but still not terribly concerned. The pizza sauce was also very sweet -- although I understand that some people like this, we were not warned of this at all or asked preference of which sauce we would like. We could not even bring ourselves to eat the pizza. After leaving a note explaining that we did not like the sauce, the waiter walked by, gave us the bills, quickly said "I gave you a discount" and ran away as usual. Maybe this was the shining light at the end of the tunnel of this train wreck meal. Nope, just 4 dollars off. Wow. Impressive, Tommy's! In short -- service was horrible, food was raw, and we are all still very hungry. Only go here if you have a dire need to contract salmonella.

Being from out of town, I've only come to this new(er) location a handful of times, but I will say, I enjoy the pub/pizzeria atmosphere, and the food is good. The times I've come, we've gotten an array of salads and pizzas. Oh, and you must get the buffalo breadsticks! We've gotten each time and they are killer. Cheese, chicken and this amazing creamy buffalo dipping sauce. I also really liked my Greek pizza with giros, olives, feta (and a few other things). It was very good, and the crust was light and fluffy. My friend always gets the Luna Rosa pizza, so I'd say that one's a sure bet. And, of course, you can always build your own. Lastly, their red sauce is sweet, so beware if you don't like sweet sauces (or enjoy if you do!)

When I moved to Hammond five years ago I tried this place out. Still to this day I remember the terrible service and how slow they were. Me and a coworker were going down a list of places to eat in Hammond during our hour lunch breaks. So one day it was time to go to Tommy's. I was excited to give this place another try since it had been awhile. The optimist in me was hoping this place had changed. We were seated right away and ordered right away. After 30 minutes of waiting we began asking the waitress when the two small pizzas were going to be ready. She kept telling us any minute now. There was a total of seven other customers in the restaurant. After a total of an hour and ten minutes of waiting after we ordered, we finally received our order. We had to take it back to the office and eat while we worked. The boss and other employees agreed that they never go to Tommy's during lunch due to their notorious slow service.

Pizza was just OK - they have a different type sauce on the pizza which is a bit too sweet for me. The pizza crust was a bit undercooked when it got to our table and they charge you for refills on the Abita Root Beer. The table was split on the pizza - some liked it and some didn't. Lots of TV's in here so would be a great place to drink a beer or two. Just OK

Great atmosphere and food. I would highly recommend this place for people who are staying in Hammond. I will definitely be back. The pizza and sandwiches are great. The chicken wings are huge. Only downfall was the hour plus wait on our food.

This is a tough one because I have had good food and OK service here previously but this last time the waitress sucked. My daughters and I were talking for a few minutes to the waitress about getting a deep dish pizza. We then ordered a "deep dish pizza", not knowing that they don't make deep dish just thick crust. But the less-than-astute waitress never told us that. Duh! Do you know what you are serving? Then I asked her about a beer on the list. She replied, "I don't know. I don't drink beer. I drink whiskey." Really, that's your answer? How about, "Let me get you a taster." or "I will ask and get right back to you." Does anyone train the servers here? When she brought over a flat Goose Island IPA I went to the bar to get a fresh beer. Tommy's is decent but they really need to step up the staff training and not just hire young people that don't care.

I've never had great service here, but the food more than makes up for that. Always and I repeat always start with the buffalo breadsticks. If it is just two people then the half order for 6 dollars will do, but you must try them! I also enjoy their Caesar salads. The pizzas comes with a traditional sweet sauce which is very very tasty. I like to get a thin crust with pepperoni and onions. My boyfriend and I split the half order of buffalo breadsticks and an individual pizza last night and it was a perfect amount of food. Those two things with a coke came to 16 dollars which is not bad at all. If you are in the mood to drink, their strawberry lemonade martini is awesome! Don't leave Hammond without eating here!

This place is awesome. We had a long wait on a Saturday night. They were very busy. Lots of large parties. We so lots of people get takeout. The atmosphere is neat, but loud. We have a child with a peanut allergy. The host went right away to the kitchen and manager to inquire on this for us. The staff were on top of their jobs and very friendly. I got a hand tossed pizza with Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, mushrooms & green peppers. It was awesome. We all got 10" pizzas. Get this size if you want leftovers for the next day (which we were thrilled about). The 8" pizza is the size for a personal pizza. MY husband got the Luna Rose pizza that has all the different meats on it. He also got the house sweet sauce. He loved it. I tasted it and it is really sweet. It was not for me. They also have a regular pizza sauce. You will need to let them know which sauce you prefer. My daughter got the kids spaghetti. It came with the biggest meatball I have ever seen! Portions are large. Prices are great. Service was great. We live an hour drive away, and we are ready to go back!

I actually crave pizza from Tommy's. We usually start with the cheese fries appetizer, which is always good with just the right amount of two different cheeses. Not your usual cheese fries... The sweet pizza sauce is really good and I usually don't like sweet food. It has a great flavor that is unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Simply stated, this pizza is the best around. The atmosphere is a little dated and they are **open till 11** which caters to the college crowd. The service is always pretty good. The live music is hit or miss. I have heard great performances, and I have heard things that make my ears bleed. The nightly drink specials help with the less than talented live entertainment. Open late, great food, good service, with drink specials and live music. I wish we had more places like this on the northshore!!

Tommy's Pizza is the closest thing to NYC style pizza you can find in Louisiana. It's also very similar to the style of pizza I've had in Naples, Italy. The pizza is excellent don't be afraid of sweet sauce. If you need a dash of spice pit some Tobasco on it. The spicy and sweet coming together is terrific. I usually can't find good authentic Buffalo Wings in the South. Usually the aside has too much vinegar, but Tommy's is just right. The wings are also big and plump. Tommy's is the only place around where I recommend true Buffalo style wings. Their sweeter Buffalo style wings are great too. Their bar has a wide selection of beers on tap. That combined with great appetizers makes Tommy's a popular spot to socialize. Mozz sticks and Buffalo bread sticks are big sellers. So is the spinach dip.

I had an appointment in Ponchatoula later in the afternoon and my 6yo son wanted to go someplace different for pizza. Living in Baton Rouge, that's asking a lot with so few places most very good to get pizza. So I looked what was near my destination and found this delightful little place not far off the beaten path. One aside that's nice about little towns like Hammond, no parking meters. Woohoo! For a big town guy like me, I like quaint towns that haven't figured out how to make revenue from visitors or it's residents. If you're travelling through on the I-12, this place is easy to find and well worth driving past the fast food places and literally go the extra mile up the road to go here for lunch or dinner. They wouldn't seat my son and I at a booth because we were just two people. I walked out of Fred 62 on Vermont in Silver Lake, CA because they did this to me, I figured I drove so far to Tommy's I wouldn't do that here. It was a little of a let down for the little one especially since they weren't even 33% full capacity. I was there at 2 pm on a Saturday. Nonetheless we were sat at a little table for 2 by the window. My son got the kids pizza with pepperoni and pineapple added, and I got a 1/2 Greek salad with shrimp and chicken added to it. (my diet). My son's pizza was awesome, pepperoni was baked into the layers of cheese, I had to ask if it was on there as it looked like a cheese pizza. My salad came about 5 minutes later and the shrimp were huge and freshly grilled, and 3 huge pieces of grilled chicken on a bed of spinach greens and well done home made salad dressing, crushed olives. (I had them hold the feta cheese). Our server was Hannah, she was very nice and was waiting the few tables around us. I know one person commented on slow service, but I have to object, if you want speedy service, go some place like the East Coast where that's expected. I've found in general that Louisiana as a whole moves at a slower pace on a larger scale, no offense, just an observation. Just try driving here or waiting at the average traffic light. My average analogy of a slow transaction or service will be "as slow as a Baton Rouge Traffic light". They were a bit slow, but it was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and it goes with the vibe of the town. If you're in a hurry, then go to the fast food place, if you want quality service and quality food, and quality time to enjoy eating food and enjoying life and good people, then come here. Across the street was a Strawberry Beignet place, so when I'm off my diet, I'm going back for pizza and dessert as a treat, it was 54 minutes out of my way, and totally worth the drive. I highly recommend it for any foodie who wants something different and doesn't mind the journey getting there. Too bad they don't open one up on Baton Rouge.

Excellent pizza, great beer specials , 4.00 PITCHERS on Monday ! Had their original sweet sauce on a sausage and pepperoni , reminded me of IMOs pizza in St. Louis , good and fresh but an acquired taste. They have traditional pizza sauce for the non adventurist out there..

We went here for lunch on the suggestion of others who had said they had awesome pizza and calzones. I should have known better. If you want advice on where to eat in the south, you can be pretty sure that a southerner will know the best places to go. I you want advice about good pizza, you have to get on plane and head north. Southerners don't have much to compare their pizza to. Tommy's has a cool location in an old brick building with lots of character, but the service was ridiculously slow considering there really wasn't too many people in the place. I had ordered a calzone, and had high hopes. When it showed up, it didn't look too bad and actually tasted pretty good. Until I tried to dip it in the marina sauce that came with it. It was some kind of sickly sweet sauce, that didn't resemble marina except for the color. If I would have ordered a pizza, I would have sent it back. But since I was able to avoid using the sauce I stuck it out. The calzone was a decent size and inexpensive. The dough and ingredients had good flavor minus the sauce. I probably would go back but for sure would skip anything where I couldn't exclude the sauce.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
