They have an extensive menu, and it includes sushi! Everything is delicious though! Drinks are amazing too!

Great grab for lunch - with the kids or without whether your craving a salad, a burger, or sushi! Laid back atmosphere and nothing like getting a sushi special for lunch! Just a enough to to fill you up and not make you sluggish for rest of the day. I will definitely be back!

Went there this past weekend w friends for a friends graduation dinner. I loved the old train station decor. This was my second time going there in 5 years. Idk why we dont go more often. The French Plum Martini... DELICIOUS!!! I really enjoyed the crawfish & pepper jack dip and the sushi pizza. Really really good. And the waiter with the really cool haircut was awesome.

The burger special was delicious. I think it was called the "the hangover" Medium well with a fry eggs and all the trimmings. (Dressed). DELICIOUS. The staff there are some great folks. We got there right at closing time. They just took our order and we sat there an hour and a half after closing. Just talking. Great place. Great service. Great food.

Cate Street is a very good place to bring the kids for a relaxed atmosphere. The wait staff is pretty good most nights and the runners are phenomenal. The sushi is some of the best in the area. On Fridays after 10:00 sushi till midnight is a place where the adults can have their fun!

Quite the conundrum this place is. Food 5/5 - Sushi, is very well prepared, portions are very favorable for the price. Fish is fresh, taste is unique and presentation is great. If anything, would have liked the Special Crunchy roll to be cut into a few more pieces, some were excessively thick and awkward to eat. Service 4/5 - Waiter was on point, however took a ding due to everyone else just seemed to be hanging out versus working, sounds dumb but watching my server work circles around everyone else really sticks out. Decor 3/5 - I get it, its trendy, its a college town, fine. Seriously though, whats the direction? Its everything from a swamp-esque shack, surfer bar to complete randomness. I am sure if I were there drinking with friends I would view it differently, however for dinner it's just odd. Cleanliness/Restroom - Now, this is where I took the most issue. I don't expect a bathroom that is off a bar to be spotless, much less in the best condition, but seeing as your dining patrons share the same restroom with such, its just not acceptable. I couldn't imagine if I was eating later and bar is full having to muddle through bar customers, with music etc blaring to use the restroom. You literally step into the bar and it's a whole other atmosphere. Overall upkeep is poor and it shows. Considering the sushi is made in this area... its discerning. The chefs at Cate Street is the star, both sushi and back of house. My food was fresh and delicious and everyone else I know who dined here has said the same, the food is excellent. Given, it's my own personal observation and opinion but I would want to decide which comes first, bar or food. This is to not discredit their success, as they are successful, again just opinion. I would recommend this place to everyone, just be cognizant of the time as the later it gets (I imagine especially on weekends) the less dining atmosphere you may stand to have.

Best sushi around can't beat their prices and the service is The best. If you like sushi try the Boston roll it's absolutely off the charts. The joint across the street is overpriced and the service is terrible. We all know where I'm talking about. And that's my opinion

I'm picky about my sushi and I was quite skeptical to try sushi at a seafood place. I got over that quickly. Sushi is best I have found in Hammond. Service is really great! I forgot our servers name but we went two weeks ago and she was really nice and attentive. Poor thing had a nightmare of a table next to us. Felt really bad for her because she really was very good but they didn't have any manners and forced her to return their food even though they ordered the wrong thing. I wish management would have backed her up. But like I was saying: the food is fantastic, the Service is great, the atmosphere is nice, don't go if in a rush (food takes an eternity), parking can be tricky

Delicious food, delightful staff, welcoming environment. One of my favorite restaurants in Hammond Cate Street is a great place to bring your family or go to have a few drinks. They often have live music and I can't forget to mention sushi till midnight on Fridays! Definitely a spot to hit if your in the area!

Arrived on a Tuesday night dining alone on a business trip. Nice large restaurant and bar. Great for families and casual dining. Bar had plenty of seats, 15+ beers on tap, large TV and view of the musician playing plenty of Johnny Cash songs. Blackened red fish and zucchini spears were great. Gumbo was good. Order dressings and sauces on the side!

The streak tips were great, but the sushi was not up to par. My daughter ordered the Alfredo pasta. It lacked salt. The lunch specials are good. Pretty good portions, but the plates are too small. They need bigger plates.

Good service, amazing sushi. You have to try their CJ Roll. Their seafood is okay. Not the best steak. If you go, I recommend their sushi.

Come here every now and then and always have a great time. The "wait time" they gave us was actually less than expected. They make the food to order, so it may take a little longer, but it is worth the wait. They have an EXTENSIVE craft beer menu and have beer tasting on some nights of the month. Outdoor seating is nice and they sometimes get live music. Sushi is good and fresh and I've never had a bad experience.

I think is the best sushi in town!! Little above price !! Last time sushi was a little too salty !! But usually very good and fast Service

This place had one of the worst servers that I have ever experienced. She took about 30 minutes to get our food to us. This was after we'd waited 10 minutes just to place our order. When the food came out it came at different times. I'd ordered soup and a side salad. My husband had to wait another 10 minutes just to get two sushi rolls. When he finally asked her about his food she interrupted him that she knew it was coming. There was no concern or apology for the wait time. I will never come back to this place. There are plenty of places in Hammond that don't take 30 minutes to serve soup/salad and sushi rolls. If it does take too long, those places, at least have some more professional wait staff than this establishment.

If you're looking to have a great time with friends or hosting a private party, Cate Street is always the way to go. Menu from the main kitchen or sushi bar has a very large variety to choose from. The chefs here are amazing! So are the employees! Service is great, considering the many busy nights they have. My recommendation from the sushi bar is the tiger roll (I get it every time). From the kitchen, any burger or sliders. Don't miss out on this gem right in downtown Hammond! I love Cate Street Seafood Station and that's an understatement!

    1. Food took forever to come out. 2. Fish was soggy. 3. Gumbo was flavorless 4. Service was terrible. Just don't eat here.

The menu here is insane. They have steak, fried seafood, burgers, sushi, salads.... Crazy. We always go with sushi here. Its pretty good, a little pricey. Go for the mixed fish box sushi, its always very fresh and refreshing. The atmosphere is crazy too... When you walk in you think, wait, i wanted sushi, this can't be the right place. Its very country cajun looking, swamp murals on the walls and stuffed alligators, you'd never guess there's a sushi bar in the next room. Service is average, never had an amazing experience, but also not a really bad one. Its worth trying.

Service has gotten better. But, not top quality food. Had the chicken teriyaki dinner. It had rubbery green beans and frozen French fries. How does that go together? However I will say they never mess up the rolls or sushi. The rice paper roll was great!

I've been eating here for years whenever I'm in town. I can't speak for the regular food, but the sushi rolls are great. They have very good speciality rolls with flavorful sauces.

I went with a group. I had the catfish special, which was well seasoned. The veggies were just steamed with no seasoning. The sushi was good. The pork chops were a hit with my buddies. Service was quick and the server was helpful.

This place has been one of my favorites for a long time. I especially think that their sushi quality is great. Service hasn't always been tip top, but I've gone there for years and they have had turnover as any other place should expect. So I don't judge too harshly on service, ESPECIALLY from one or two experiences. All in all people were friendly and prompt, food has been tasty and excellent, and prices were reasonable. I love this place!

I came here on a business meeting and while my sushi was delicious (as always) our appetizer was pathetic. We ordered mozzarella sticks and there was NO cheese in 4 out of the 5 mozzarella sticks on the plate. We broke them apart to check for cheese and obviously told the server that we didn't want them. He apologized and said they would be taken off of the ticket. At the end of the meal a manager came to our table and ARGUED with us that we ate the majority of them and that what we were saying was impossible. He continued to argue with us until one of the gentlemen told him we would pay for them and to please leave the table. The manager then laughed at us and left. Luckily one of the men knows the owner so hopefully this will be taken care of. I have never been made to feel like a liar in a restaurant... All over a $6.00 appetizer. Absolutely pathetic and I would advise to tread lightly and not complain about anything if you eat here - you will be treated like dirt and laughed at. I left the restaurant in tears ( I am pregnant anyway so hormones are crazy ) because I was so embarrassed. Horrible experience.

Came during the Art in April night. 20-30 minute wait was actually maybe a minute. Server was very nice, understood an allergy that my wife has and was very willing to work with her. Sushi was very good, sizing bigger then I had expected. Appetizers and dinner were served fast, and hot. First time trying this place and won't be the last. They ran out of one of their desserts so make sure to get there early.

Cate Street Seafood Station is one of THE places I've gotta hit while down in Cajun country. The atmosphere is funky and fun, with a giant fish tank separating the bar from the main dining area. I usually try to sit where I can watch them. The food is a fairly eclectic assortment, from gumbo to crab legs to sushi. However, I can't get away from the Dungeness crab legs and the Cate Street sushi roll. Yum! Seriously, you gotta try this roll. It's got a little bit of everything in it, topped with two different types of sauces (I do like the sauces!) and tempura crunch. Just come hungry - this thing is huge! Cate Street usually has some good beers on tap, but don't look for too much guidance on helping you pick out a good one. The staff isn't particularly knowledgeable about beer, so you might be on your own. And they've got a good margarita if you're looking for something a little stronger. The staff is usually friendly, but as some reviewers mentioned, don't be in a hurry. They can be slow! Honestly, I don't come here for the service, but the food is good and I come here every time I go through Hammond.

I really like this place! I admit I have a bad habit of always getting the same thing at a particular eatery. In the case of Cate Street, I get the sushi. The rolls are large and lucious. My mom and I had the rainbow roll and the baked salmon roll on Saturday. Both were yum. I went there awhile back with some friends who had other stuff than sushi and they enjoyed their dishes. The service seems prompt and friendly. I suppose the only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is that they are no longer open for lunch on weekends, which is a shame.

Rumor has it Britney Spears and her fam used to or still come here to eat. My cousin took me here for a quick late night bite and drink. The diner is no beauty and you'd think rather a rustic dive from the inside out. I had my reservations when I heard they served sushi here, gaming that it was going to be rather bland and lack freshness. Coming from the west coast we are spoiled with good sushi all around. Cate prevailed and we ended up with a decently sized rolls and very tender sashimi on top, very flavorful as well. The place was already pretty emptied so our waiter service was spot on and helped to suggest what's best for my sushi-virgin cousin. Prices aren't bad either, especially for the sashimi set. Great little place to take the edge off eating all the fried junk and go for freshness.

My husband and I ate here last night and had excellent service. Our glass was never empty and our food came quicker than we expected considering it was Saturday night and the place was full. Our fish and beef entrees were tender and well seasoned. It was a bit loud, but that won't stop us from dining here again. This is on our list of places to go when we travel through Hammond in the future.

Stopped in for some local Cajun cuisine. The menu was pretty big but, not a lot of local specialties. Had the Gumbo and seafood salad. The salad was big and tastey. The Gumbo was ok. The service was a little slow and the food was brought out, sporadically. It's probably a great place for locals but, if you are looking for a lot of Cajun/Cerole dishes, keep driving.

I have been here three times. The first time was great! We had fried shrimp and fish. Food came out quickly and was great. The second trip, we asked to sit on the patio and the hostess flat out refused to let us. I nicely insisted on sitting out there. The main reason she didn't want us too was because she would have to clean a table. It was 3:00 in the afternoon and they were not busy. When we got our food, it was not hot. I let the waitress no our food was not hot. She didn't seem to care and from then on didn't want to wait on us. The third experience was good. We got hamburgers. One was good. Mine was burnt. Probably will not be going back here. The decor/atmosphere is great.

Wow, I never expected to find great sushi here! My boyfriend and I were staying in town for a week and chose Cate Street Seafood at random , and we were pleasantly surprised. We had two specialty rolls (300 and the Saints rolls), some nigiri, and two regular rolls (crunchy dynamite roll and the spicy crunchy roll). All rolls came out perfectly. Definitely will be coming back soon!

I would not have expected good sushi here. I am not sure why, but I was not expecting it. But sure glad the sushi was better than I would have ever expected. To top it off, the portions were HUGE. In Chicago we have these little bite sized pieces. Here I felt like they needed two bites. So full of fish and flavorful. Not the best sushi I have ever had, but definitely good enough and well worth the price. The service was also plenty attentive and helpful. Overall it was a great place to grab dinner and a nice change up from other food we have been eating while on the road.

Heard good things about this place but was skeptical about the sushi being good from a place that didn't seem like a sushi place. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Wouldn't necessarily suggest the potatoes but other than that our meal was good. Great rolls, can't really go wrong with any choice. Definitely have this on my list of good places nearby. The variety of the menu seems a bit crazy but the food and atmosphere was good.

I dont know what alternate universe the other reviewers visited. After two visits for lunch over the course of a year we have permanently marked this place off the list Don't come for the food or service. Great decoration/atmosphere though. Sushi rolls ok but the tuna was cheap and pork chops like leather. Asked for waters for 5 people and got 1 after asking twice. Order not put in right and the green beans came at the very end of meal after asking 3 times and they weren't worth the trouble. Wait staff seemed like they were in a fog or on Valium. Check it out. Maybe you'll get lucky. PS. Don't come if it's cold. This place has NO insulation.

The service was quick. The food came out fast. We were really shocked that they had sushi there. We weren't about to get any. The waitress said the sushi bar is located opposite end from the kitchen and different staff work it. The mozzarella sticks were decent. Not as hot as I'd like, but didn't have to wait for them to cool down. We had shrimp poboys. Sadly, though the shrimp were huge, the sandwich was small for the price paid. 9$ for only half a poboy when there are places you can pay 10-12 and get a huge poboy with lots of shrimp and fries (and taste fresh!). The fries tasted like they were frozen (I wouldn't suggest taking home any fries as leftovers...they are flimsy and not worth it). We may or may not be going back. It wasnt bad though. Just know a really good poboy, and this was just alright.

Bring a timer! Make sure you have a spare hour or more to kill to wait on your food. My family and I have given this place a 2nd and 3rd chance at redeeming their overall dining speed, and we've had it! Ordering isn't a difficulty, but don't be surprised to wait with empty glasses for up to an hour (NO JOKE) for your food to come! By the time the food arrives, there's no time left to eat.

The best sushi and price in Hammond! The seafood is great too! Very chill atmosphere that is built in the old train station! You won't be sorry you stopped in!
