Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is the most legit Mexican I've had since moving back to Louisiana. Houston turned me into one tough critic, but this place surprised me with its authenticity. There were dishes of never heard of, as well as the usual suspects. I ordered the Nopales with pork, bc I wanted to try something different. Nopales is prickly pear cactus. Cooked down, it resembles the texture of a poblano. It has a slightly bitter taste, but it paired well with the pork and the deliciously spicy (normal people spicy, not my own standard) sauce. My grandmother seemed to enjoy her enchiladas as well, devouring the entire entree after commenting that she'd never finish that much food. The service was also great. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The salsa and queso weren't my fave, but both were enjoyable enough. This will now be our go to for Mexican on the West Bank.

Total lack brought us here I must admit. I will blame it all I'm getting lost while on vacation. What a great deal that turned out to be! The service was superb, everyone had a smile that reached their eyes. The Guacamole was absolutely freshly made, a delight to the palate. If you want it spicier, all you have to do is ask. After eating that huge portion... Like we were too hungry and ordered too much and ate it all... Out came the three enchiladas which we wiped out in a heartbeat. Actually that was an exaggeration. We had to stop for breathers now and then. Of course it also came with rice and refried beans and more guacamole. The sauce was delightfully spicy without being so hot that it burns your mouth. If you want a real treat, be sure to try this one !!!

This place has really good lunch specials and amazing flan. I have family coming to visit and I am going to make sure to bring them here. The atmosphere is very cozy and the service is really.

Hands downs, the best Mexican Food I have ever had! I knew it was going to be good when I read the reviews but also know I am a bit of a picky eater, so went with a positive attitude and hoped for the best. The wait staff is every bit as friendly and helpful as everyone else has stated. It is obvious they absolutely welcome your business and take real pride in having you enjoy your visit. The chips and salsa started me off! I do believe it to be the best salsa I have ever eaten. It is served warm and has a bit of a kick to it, and is delicious! What? I don't even like spicy food, but wanted to eat it like soup it was so good! The lunch menu had me not being able to decide between enchiladas, flautas or tamales, so I asked my server which was her favorite. She quickly said, "Enchiladas, and I can give you one of each...beef, chicken and cheese," so I agreed. Oh my gosh. Everything on that plate was amazing, even the rice and beans! I could not pick a favorite enchilada, because whichever I was chewing was my favorite! The food was so hot and fresh! The ingredients were quality! It was simply outstanding, and keep in mind it was the lunch menu! My total was just over $8 and I had plenty to bring home for dinner. Can't say enough about it. Try it. You will understand.

My fiancé was craving Mexican food the other night, so I was searching on yelp for a place we had never been, which led us here. Walking in, we noticed we were the only customers in the place for dinner. We ordered our food, and they messed up his order by bringing chicken quesadillas instead of steak, but they quickly corrected it. I really enjoyed the steak crispy tacos, best I've had on the West Bank. My fiancé loved the chips and salsa in addition to his steak quesadillas. We will be back soon! 4 stars!

Great food. Could not stop eating the chips and salsa. Cheese enchiladas and refried beans extra yummy. Could pass on the pupusa. Even tried the fried plantains. We left with happy plates and tummies.

Great original menu selection, not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Food and service was absolutely excellent!

Very very good. Nice and fresh. Service excellent. Will post my pics. Nice and clean. The menu was not the usual 50 entrée choices which was nice to see. We will be back for sure and tell all our friends. Horchata was yummy. Guacamole so good. Hubby had the pork chop dish which was also delicious. I had the Aztec dish with corn cakes and shrimp. We were both stuffed and had leftovers.

Food was excellent! I ordered the plantains and nachos, while my friend had carne asada something(burrito? I honestly forget.) We were both very happy and very full after eating here. The service was quick and friendly.

My wife and I like to try new things often, and as we were fans of the restaurant that was in this location before, thought we'd give it a shot. The staff is very friendly and attentive and prices are great. The food is fantastic! The food is fresh and flavorful and I'm told it is all made from scratch. I've since been there about four times and have a consistently positive experience. The tamal de elote is a must have, as well as the flan, which is the best I've ever had. You simply must try them out! The only complaint I have is that they are often empty, which worries me because I hope they are around for a LONG time.

After going to Cucos up the street last week I decided to go here due to the other reviews . The place is clean inside and out and my waiter was very polite . The decor is well done inside . The eats here are more like traditional home made type fare . Everything was very fresh and delicious . I will say that you might go for whatever is less spicy here due to the fact that it is more authentic and might be a tad spicier than you thought . This is my first time here so I'll be going back at some point for sure and will try something else next time .

Delicious! You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in this place... To the well maintained exterior and very clean interior with tablecloths and cloth napkins to the high quality ingredients they use. They provide complimentary chips and salsa. Their salsa was wonderful, never had any like it. You can tell they dip it from a simmering pot... So it's hot with a nice amount of chili oils, maybe the chilies or tomatoes are roasted first? I don't know...but a wonderful flavor. I ordered off the weekend menu... A seafood stew. It had every sort of seafood imaginable(shrimp, mussels, squid, octopus (?) crab claws) and all so fresh. There were large chunks of carrots and other veggies and what seemed like masa dumplings. It was $11, but huge, enough for two meals and chock full of expensive seafood. My husband ordered the shredded beef enchilada ($8.99, maybe). Meat was tender and flavorful and the sauce tasty. Served with the typical rice and beans (tasty beans, moist rice--not extraordinary, but that's what I like and expect with my rice and beans). Ordered off the kids menu for my son... Cheese quesadilla ( with chihuahua cheese) and fries. Very plain (kid menu fare) but he gobbled it up. It has only been open for a couple of months, so it is still undiscovered it seems. Go give them some business... Nice folks!

Far and away the best Mexican restaurant in the New Orleans area! Very nice staff! High quality ingredients, excellent preparation, and attractive presentation. Starts with fresh salsa and guacamole and just gets better from there. Can't wait to go back!
