Go for the wonton soup! This place is amazing and the lady running it is sweet and helpful.

Ashley's isn't a bad addition to the Westbank Vietnamese scene, but some improvements could definitely be made. On the bright side, Ashley's has an extensive menu of pho, banh mi, fried rice and Chinese combination plates. They also have spring rolls and Vermicilli noodle bowls and other food you would expect to find at this type of establishment. The interesting thing is that Ashley's also has an assortment of po boys. I didn't try any but if you are not in the mood for Asian food, they have shrimp, ham and cheese, hot sausage and roast beef po boys. When I stopped in here, I decided to get a bowl of the eye of round steak in beef broth. Honestly, it wasn't too bad, but I've had better. The broth had a nice enough flavor, but something was off and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. As far as improvements go the biggest would have to be the table cloths. The tables are covered in white plastic table cloths, which is fine, but they are obviously not changed or even wiped down between customers. The table where I was sitting had a table cloth on it that was dirty and stained with old food. It also had tears in it where it looked like someone (probably a child) had poked at it in many places with a fork. It was just off putting. Another complaint was that I ordered iced tea and the woman working explained to me that they didn't have straws. Who runs out of straws? I didn't necessarily feel like putting my mouth all over the cup I was drinking out of, but I was left with no choice. I think that Ashley's is probably good if you are in the mood for takeout, but I would be loath to dine in again.

Ordered takeout. The food was mediocre. We ordered a shrimp poboy which was okay. Probably should've gotten the roast beef because the bread was so crunchy. Also got the lo mein which didn't really have much flavor and the noodles were more like spaghetti noodles. Will have to try again because they have plenty of menu items. Also, the menu in the picture section has changed. I was really looking forward to trying the bahn mi ga, but it has been taken off the menu as well as all the other bahn mis except the grilled pork.

The beef noodle soup is so flavorful and delicious! If you're not in the mood for beef, the chicken noodle soup is good as well. I also liked the freshness of the shrimp spring rolls and dipping it in the peanut sauce. Yum!

Before I begin my review, I would like to say that I hope this place works out the kinks and does well. I love to support new local businesses, but this place has a long way to go, imo. I'm all about trying new "dives", "hole in the walls", and whatnot, so I was able to overlook my initial impression of the strip mall look with the genetic pictures and wording in the windows. I went in at around noon on a Saturday, and it was empty. The lady that brought me the menu was fine. She didn't leave me with a positive or negative impression. The decor is very bland, but they are just starting out, so no big deal. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. Naturally, I have to be, since I live on the westbank, where there are tons of great established Vietnamese restaurants. With that being said, unfortunately, this place falls way short right now. In my opinion, you can tell a lot about a restaurant by the taste and overall flavor profile of their pho. The pho I had tasted like a powdered mix. The rare flank appeared previously cooked and the brisket looked and tasted like the pre-packaged version one may buy at Sam's Club. I also ordered the crab ragoons. They were tough to chew and cool in the middle. I had gotten the impression that they were previously frozen and possible store-bought (i.e. Cisco). With the fierce competition between the many Vietnamese restaurants on the westbank, Ashley's needs to really step up their quality, or they will close shop in less than a year. Come on Ashley's Noodle House, I'm rooting for you! I'll try you again in a few weeks, and do a follow-up review.

This place is surprisingly good! We ordered crab rangoons and the spring rolls as appetizers. The crab rangoons were amazing but the spring rolls unfortunately we're not. There wasn't any flavor. All of our entrees were amazing!!! Based on the entrees this place would've gotten 6 stars!!!!

This is truly my favorite Vietnamese food! My standard is the noodle bowl with pork and egg roll. So tasty! I have tried them all here in the WB. Pho Tay Bay (closed now), Pho Bang on Manhattan, another one or two on Manhattan. None compares! Trust me! The service is very friendly and accommodating for any special needs. Give her a try! I promise you will not be disappointed but for Heavens sake if you are, give them a chance to correct as they will!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
