Much improved! If you haven't been since the remodel then it's a must. Outside dining is fantastic and now eating inside is bright and airy. Food is consistent and doesn't disappoint. Drinks are good and strong

The atmosphere and food are really great! I have two concerns however. The parking can be very limited during peak hours and what I find most bothering is their "top shelf" margarita. As a former bartender it's obvious that mine was right out of their daiquiri machine and not at all what I wanted or paid for. I'm sticking the beer in the bottle there because at least I'll know what I'm getting and paying for Out of the three locations on Northshore. This hands down is my favorite.

So they bought this place and took it over. They redid the whole inside and outside and it is nice!!! Our waiter was like really slow. But thankfully the owner was around and made sure everything was perfect! Really nice people. It makes a huge difference when the owners are involved and around. The food was really good. Love their salsa, I had the chicken chimichanga. It was pretty good!

Updated review. The place was remodeled & looks great. However, the food isn't so great, it's the same bland stuff. I ordered a margarita & it was too sweet & I couldn't drink it. I expressed this to the waiter & he kept trying to get me to try a different drink but I just wasn't feeling it. They knew I didn't like my drink, I only took one sip and couldn't drink it, but still, they didn't take it off my bill. Last time I'll go there...that wasn't cool.

I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday last week and left impressed. The ambiance was nice as it was not too loud inside. The décor was modern and the service was excellent. Our server was prompt and very friendly. I usually get fajitas and it was the Tuesday special of the day but that avocado salad had my name on it. I ordered it with chicken. The avocado salad was excellent. I will order this again in the future. The lady had the taco salad which was pretty good. We also had 5 frozen margaritas and The Mexican Disaster (a huge frozen margarita with two Coronas flipped over inside the drink. Def. big enough for two to share). The prices were reasonable. We really enjoyed everything there and we both said we will be coming back to try something different and also to enjoy the great frozen margaritas!

Over the July 4th weekend some friends and I decided to take a trip to the north shore and go tubing. After spending 4+ hours on the river we were all hungry and decided to stop at La Carreta. The restaurant looks pretty new. The interior is clean and well designed with normal ambient noise. With a group of 11 people we were seated quickly and our server did an excellent job of keeping track of things and making sure were were taken care of. The menu is your typical Tex-mex fare. The drinks menu looked rather decent although I wasn't feeling it after all that time in the sun. We had what seemed to be never ending bowls of chips and some great restaurant style salsa. For my entree I ordered chicken fajitas. It came as a side plate with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc., a very large pile of chicken and onion fajita on a hot iron skillet, and a foil pack of tortillas. Here's where the meal kind of fell apart. For that giant pile of chicken and peppers I got a total of three small flour tortillas. There was no way you could possibly eat the giant serving with that few tortillas. I wound up taking a huge amount of food home. Overall not bad, I'd eat there again. I just wonder what the cook is thinking serving that much chicken and peppers.

Average Mexican Restauramt. The food was good but there is a cheese sauce they put on everything. The sauce tastes like salty velveeta. Salsa verde, sour cream Cream sauce, chili sauce is my favorite. I enjoy the food but different special sauces would take Carrettas from okay to delicious.

Been here a number of times and have noticed food and service getting progressively worse. We started off with the usual bowl of chips and salsa. Salsa was good and has always been good here but the chips . . . noticed that towards the bottom of the bowl the chips were stale and just tasted bad. Waited seemed like forever to get our waitress to get us another bowl and had to ask the waitress waiting on another table to get us another bowl. Here again same thing. . . . chips on top were OK the ones on the bottom seemed old. Now to the entree's - The Wife was putting down the Margarita's so I think anything tasted good for her. Me - I ordered the Enchilada's Verdes - came to the table loaded with green sauce or tomatillo sauce. Sauce was well seasoned and had one of something too much. Not what I'm used too and could barely eat it. We skipped dessert. Service - Not very good. We ordered way before the table next too us and they got served before us. Seemed inattentive and this place was not busy at all. Bottom Line - Go here for the drinks

I'm going to go out on a limb here... Lunch Sept. 30, 2013...possibly the worst meal I have ever had in a Mexican Restaurant. Granted, Mexican food in this area leaves much to be desired. But this stuff...ugh. Burrito - swimming in grease. Yes, just grease. Saturated the thing really. Need I say more?

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
