Staying at a nearby hotel and gave Copelands a try. I ordered online with ease. They offer curbside pickup as well. Really nice restaurant that offers bar seating and casual dinning. They are also kid friendly. Food is decent. The gumbo was very rich in flavor, almost too salty. I also had the crab cake and shrimp Alfredo. I thought the dish was over salted as well. It was good just too much for me. You can def share this plate with someone else.

I know this is a chain and I typically stick with locals but my local friends wanted to go and it was open on monday, rare in the area. The wine list was grocery store level but everything else was great. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere was solid. I had the Veal Copeland; the veal was just okay but the sausage pasta side was stole the show. The pasta had a noticeable heat and rich flavor even though it was light on the sausage. I grew up with a Copeland's in Jacksonville, FL and never dined there, that will change.

After a 10 year hiatus, my in-laws suggested we give Copeland's another try. I guess we didn't wait long enough to see this place improve. Our entrees arrived before the appetizers and salads and the waitress chastised us for canceling the apps. The food we received was closer to 2 stars but the noticeable indifference and poor attitude of the server warrants a single star.

It's either hit or miss here! Sadly enough it all depends on your waiter. I've eaten here so many times it's ridiculous. Of course the food and menus changed after al passed which sucked at first. But even if you go for just the drinks and spinach dip its worth it. I can honestly say I have never ordered something and disliked it. Sometimes some of the pasta dishes need an extra side of sauce because they don't put enough but all ya gotta do is ask. Like I said food is good, drinks are good, everything else is up to the waiter.

Nearly a decade ago before I started traveling more than 150,000 miles a year for work, I stumbled upon this Copeland's and thought I'd found the bomb local Southern/Cajun restaurant. A buddy and I came here and loved it. The service was great. The food was good. And, the atmosphere was fair, too. Reality set in a few days later when the next town had a Copeland's, too. I quickly learned this is a medium size chain, but to this day I haven't been disappointed when I stop by for lunch or dinner at this location when driving through Covington. For those who are blasting the service I'm fortunate to not have been down that road here. Service has always been at par for me, which I'm thankful for. We've always been treated well from the host staff to our waiters. When at Copeland's I've always ordered the blackened redfish, and while it's been terrible at other locations in this chain, I've never had an issue here. It's always been juicy, flavorful and tasted fresh and the mashed sweet potatoes and vegetable medley compliment it well. Stick with this dish and you can't go wrong here. And, at $24,95, I know many believe it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. They give you a slab of fish, not a small fillet.

Two words. Slow Service. It looks like they really need some help in the kitchen. First, I don't really care for the atmosphere of this place. It's dark and not very welcomey. All of the staff seem to be extremely serious. I don't think I even saw a smile on anybody's face. I ordered the crab cakes and shrimp alfredo. I was pretty hungry to begin with so I wasn't pleased when it took over 30 minutes to get my food. The alfredo was ok. I've had better at the Olive Garden and the crab cakes were overdone. The biscuits were fantastic. Of course for desert you have to have the cheesecake which I did and it was pretty good. Overall I don't think the meal was worth the money. I've had better. I will say our waiter was good though. He was on top of the drink refills and checking on us, just not too friendly or cheerful. I'll be trying them again and we'll see how it goes next time.

Hostess was meh. Server Darryl was great. Crab claw appetizer for $13 was way overpriced. Roast beef poboy came with extra skimpy portion of roast beef. Sent it back and they brought out another one. Onion straws were cold, tasteless and super greasy. Decor is aging and desperately needs updating. Seat cushions in the booths needs replacing.

Is there a way to give negative stars? Terrible. It's not worth wasting a lot of time on a review for this type of place. Terrible service. Items missing from order. The missing items were dropped off (forced actually- after explaining that the missing items were no longer wanted) after check was paid. I asked for water 3 times and finally gave up. Seriously, a joke. Service was terrible, its one thing to receive terrible service from a friendly server, however, this person was not happy to be at work, no smiles, mad at the world, service. Funny thing is I knew what to expect coming here, unfortunately it was a visiting friend out of towns requests. Never. Again.

To lazy to cook, So we went for a later bite at a Creole themed chain joint. Wait wasn't bad,it was later in the evening. Couple minutes and we were seated. Quick service and knowledgeable waiter. Had the Stuffed mushrooms, The spinach and artichoke dip and craw-fish fries. All were pretty good. The fries were a delightful surprise. Spicy sauced fries with cheese and craw-fish, How can you go wrong with that? For entrees we had the shrimp and pasta and the craw-fish ravioli. Both were good. Alittle on the hot side, but done like I remembered from years ago. All and all we had a good meal. Since Al has passed though, it just didn't seem as good. Is that just me? It seemed more like a chain than it did years ago.

Went to Copeland's in Covington after a trip to New Orleans. First time there. It was the best meal of our trip. We all tried different entrees. Everyone in our party was happy: fast service, attentive waitress, and most important, the food was excellent. I'm surprised to see the negative reviews for this place. We will definitely try it again on our next trip.

Dinner for two last night at around 7:30. We were seated promptly & placed drink orders. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer, which was GREAT. The little fried bow tie pastas that were used for dipping were really good. I ordered the stuffed shrimp & sweet potato fries, my boyfriend ordered the grilled tomato basil chicken with angel hair pasta. He loved his, had some of it left for a to go box. Mine was ok, I've had better stuffed shrimp at another restaurant close by. Overall the meal was very good, no complaints. Next time I'll get my usual, the Veal Copeland which is absolutely delicious.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to the Abita brewery. We did not have the disappointing experience with the service that many others mentioned. Our server was attentive and we got our drinks quickly. Our appetizers were out within minutes of being ordered, as well. We started with a cup of the gumbo and a cup of the corn and crabmeat bisque. The gumbo was fairly average but the bisque was to die for. I deeply regretted only getting a cup and not the bowl. My mom ordered the spinach artichoke dip with fried Bow tie pasta. It looked a lot better than it tasted. The dip had an overpowering taste of lemon in it that I just couldn't get over and there were way too many bow ties. We received our entrees very quickly. My mom got the shrimp and crab cake pasta. It was OK. The crab cakes were good but the shrimp was undercooked and the sauce had a strange taste. My boyfriend and I shared the crabmeat ravioli which was good, a little fishy, but good. We also shared the crawfish cheese fries which looked awesome in the picture on the menu but were a disappointment in person. The sauce was very strange and it just wasn't a pleasant dish. We left almost all of it on the table. The meal came with buttered biscuits that were flaky and melt in your mouth. The experience definitely had its ups and downs.

Go to this and the Slidell location often ( I.e. three times a week ). Food is excellent and no complaints about the service. When I did have a problem the manager was excellent and corrected the problem to my satisfaction 100%. I've also spoke with a manager name Jennifer and she was awesome. Prices can't be beat, join the Lanyappe Club.

The only reason that this is a two star review, and not a one, is because of the potential that this location has. The hostess was polite and professional. The server very attentive, almost overly. Food came out quickly. With that being said, it was 4:00 pm and we were one of only two tables in the restaurant. Growing up in New Orleans, I have frequented multiple Copelands locations across the Southshore and Westbank. This was my first dine-in Copelands experience in a decade though. The warm thoughts of dressing up nice as a child to go with the family for an unforgettable meal on a Friday night at Copelands were being questioned every time I took a bite of my Crawfish Pasta. Is this the Copelands that I remember? The answer is no. The fact is that the food has, regretfully, becomed "chained". My date took 4 bites of her Chicken Parm and I maybe took 6 bites of my pasta. Neither of us felt a hint of spice from either dish. We boxed it up with the hopes that maybe, after a few Blue Moons and a little Monday Night Football tonight, the reheated versions of the pastas could be brought back to life as the case with many pasta left-overs. I guess we will see tonight. As for this location, we haven't been missing out on anything over the past decade. I will now hold those childhood dinner memories at Copelands much closer to my heart as I realized today that my son will not be able to relate to such memories with me. The food stinks. Today is a sad, sad day.

Copeland's is and always has been a Louisiana inspired themed restaurant with original but not very authentic dishes. If you think of it that way, it is pretty good. Service was a little uneven but attentive. Most of the dishes lean more towards the creamy side but the menu is large and has a lot of variety. The bar offered average craft brews and some usual commercial beers. Copeland's is a good place take family or a group with varied tastes.

We enjoyed great food and service at this location last Wednesday while traveling. We definitely would visit again if staying in the area. My husband had the chicken cobb salad and I had the crab stuff eggplant over pasta. Both had the flavor we expected from Copeland's. Even the picky eater can find something here without being disappointed.

Food is always consistent and decent. Take out portions small and pricey but good. Service always decent. Never been upset with food quality just prices and take out portions, should charge less. They say it's measured but clearly is not. Foods good csme better, dons seafood not good.

This trip to Copelands left me feeling disappointed and $100 poorer. Copelands is a huge restaurant. I would imagine it is the largest on the Northshore. They have a huge staff and it must be extremely difficult to run this place. The staff walking around with walkie talkies and the sheer number of staff were impressive to watch. I would estimate there were nearly 40-50 employees working. The problem is that because this place is so large, they pack people in and the food and service suffers. The restaurant is also very dark. So dark that when items were dropped on the floor we literally needed a flashlight to see them. Our server tried to be helpful, but he seemed a little overwhelmed. Drinks took to long to refill and we felt a little abandoned at times. We started with the corn and crab bisque. It was not the soup I had remembered. There were far too many bits of shell and there was very little flavor. For entrees we ordered grilled fish and the Al's favorite fillet. The fish came blackened not grilled as we had requested. It took so long to get the food we didn't send it back. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what we wanted. The waiter was apologetic and did take $10 off of our bill for the mistake. The fillet was ordered medium rare and was topped with caramelized onions. It came out swimming in butter. The fillet was prime beef, but was not very good. There was too much butter and the onions had an odd taste. It was just OK which is not OK when you're ordering prime beef. I do not mind spending money when I go out to eat, but I walked out feeling ripped off. I regret having gone here and am frustrated that I wasted the money. The sheer volume and size of the place is impressive, but for the money, there are much better places.

I made a reservation for Father's Day since I figured they would be busy. When we arrived on time they told me that they could not seat my party right away and it would be a 30 minute wait! What???? What was the point of making a reservation? If you cannot honor the reservation time then don't accept reservations, just tell people it will be first come first served, which in fact it was! We did get seated about 40 minutes later only to sit in a hot stuffed restaurant. It was so hot!! Everyone in the restaurant was fanning themselves with the menus. The service was decent and the food was really good. I felt bad for the waiters and hostesses bc I'm sure they got the brunt of people's frustration. We witnessed quite a few people that were unhappy they had to wait 30 minutes or more when they had a reservation time.

As usual the food here is very eegood. I had the Bayou Blackend Chicken and it was very good. (4 1/2 stars). Now the reason for the two stars. Service or lack of service to be more precise. My party of three ran out of drinks three times and only got refills after flagging down the waitress each time. Our meals were To come with biscuits which we received just in time to be put in our go box as we received our check. I had asked about them every time i flagged her down for a drink refill. It was lunch time but they weren't that busy so I can't attribute the slow and poor service to that. Beware if you go there the food is good if you are willing to put up with some other problems.

Whatever you do, don't order it for a pick-up order. They forgot our hush puppy for the corn and crab bisque, they forgot the chicken on my chicken salad (go figure) and they made my hubby wait 15 minutes till they brought it out (said they didn't see him waiting, right in front) so food was cold, soggy, and unedible. When I called to state the obvious complaint I've listed here they said they were going to send us a gift card for the soup and salad (since they messed those up). It has been 5 months and nothing from them. The food isn't worth dealing with that kind of waitstaff/management. Will take my business elsewhere where my hard earned dollars are appreciated.

I went to this Copelands for the third and last time! The service was absolutely horrible every time. The first time for lunch-over 30 minutes before receiving our meal. Second time for dinner--almost an hour before we received our dinner. and the third and final time--we left the restaurant after 30 minutes of waiting for our appetizer. This was after telling her that we were on a tight lunch hour. That place has some serious management issues. Too many other great restaurants to visit in the area.

My husband are on a nationwide road trip. We stopped off at the Comfort Suites next door to Copelands. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very professional smiling staff. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Sarah, was such a great help in explaining the different dishes. I ordered the blackened bayou chicken with mushroom stuffing. Omg, it is absolutely wonderful!!! The mushroom stuffing just melts in your mouth. The chicken was seasoned just right. The sauce with crawfish & a biscuit to sop it up. Just don't get no better than that!

Completely disgusted with the service and food at this restaurant. There was mold growing inside my cup. No silverware, the spinach dip was sour. I've never been so aggravated with a restaurant in my life. Nor am I ever one to complain.

I enjoyed eating here the food was flavorful and good. I got shrimp pasta with crab cakes it was good. My husband had a copelands burger and my son had shrimp they also enjoyed their meal. The server could have been better bc we have gotten better service at less expensive restaurants that is the reason I gave it 4 stars. You have to try the cheesecake heaven to eat just bad for my thighs but hey you only live once soo enjoy your life.

Went here for my mother's birthday dinner. The service was excellent. The food was pretty good. I had the garlic filet and it was perfect. I actually took my time to eat and enjoy really enjoy it. I had the mac & biscuit side and it was decent. It had bacon on it, so that's awesome. If the dinner was my treat I definitely would've tipped a bit more. Next time! Easily one of the best steaks I've had in the last year

I lived in the New Orleans/Metairie area for 32 years before I moved away and oh boy do I miss this place. I eat here each and every time I happen to make my way back to Louisiana (which is at LEAST once a year)!!!! I get the Ricochet Catfish religiously, and while it has gotten "fancier" (is that a word??) lately, it still never fails to disappoint me. My husband loves the Crawfish Etouffee and will even settle for the Shrimp version, should the former be out of season. Love the spicy mashed new potatoes, too!! The wait staff never falters, either! Mix all this with a chocolate martini and I forget where I'm living now..... :)

While I find that most Copeland's have suffered a little since Al's death this is still a great place to eat. The steaks are awesome. Yes they come in a lot of sizzling steak butter. If you don't like it I recommend asking to leave it off. The cuts of beef and flavor are spot on. Everywhere I go I try the Spinach dip and the Crab Claws if offered. These by far are the best. I use the points card and that helps a lot. Right know I have a free birthday entree and fifty dollar credit. If nothing else, you get a free steak on your birthday. My major complaint (some will find stupid ) is the crab meat. I always order Al's filet. It is a filet with caramelized onions. I add crab meat to it. This was the perfect steak. But maybe about a year ago they changed the crab meat. Now it sucks! It was lump and delicious before. Now it's shredded and fishy tasting. It bothers me so much I may call corporate to voice my opinion. Al would have never served this! My only other complaint is when I order red beans the rice is always hard and crunchy. I now get rice on the side and send back. You will enjoy Copeland's if you eat there. I am a picky person. 95% is great.
I have eaten at a number of Copeland's Restaurants in the past and was really disappointed with this one. My wife & I were seated at a small table next to a high traffic area and asked to be reseated somewhere more comfortable which they did but then did not get waited on for 10 - 15 minutes. I ordered Shrimp Jambalaya and found the shrimp to be uncooked - raw. The rice was old. . . . If I had to guess the rice was from the night before. We thought about ordering dessert but decided to pass. I would think twice before eating here

I came back to Louisiana for my annual trip home. This is to see family and friends, yes, but also eat some of the stuff I just can't get in Austin, TX. Last Sunday, I wanted brunch. The g/f wanted Bayou Broccoli before we left town. Hey, we'll just go to Copeland's and do both at once. Before we moved, we always used to go to the Covington location instead of Slidell (where we lived) and, though I couldn't remember the reason, I figured it must have been a good one. What an utterly disastrous meal. Really. We put in our drink orders: a cafe au lait and an iced mocha. 30 minutes later, still no coffee. Now, they're busy, but not slammed. Our waitress finally comes by and says that the guy "doesn't know how to make an iced mocha but he's working on it." I would like to point out that mochas ARE offered on the menu. Another 15 minutes go by, we've already eaten our Bayou Broccoli and the waitress comes back. "Okay, he's almost done." She runs off before I can ask if she can at least bring out the cafe au lait while he "works" on the mocha. The breakfast comes out (I'll get to that horror in a moment) and still no coffee. The waitress runs by again with what looks like a mocha, catches my eye, and tells me she's just going to go and put ice in it. Alrighty then. What is handed to me is a glass/goblet maybe 4-5 inches high with 3 solid inches of chocolate syrup in the bottom. The straw is locked in this quagmire of goo. The milk? cream? whatever dairy product is separating into clumps all along the top of the drink. She comes back after a few minutes and I tell her, not a little apologetically, that I can't drink that and I'll stick with water. The cafe au lait finally arrives, with what looks like oil splotches all over the top, as if someone got it confused with a salad and playfully flung some olive oil over it for that extra special touch. My g/f stares at it and pushes it away. The waitress comes back and we tell her that THAT drink is also not okay. She eventually comes back to tell us the coffees have been removed from the check and that the oil was probably from the white chocolate in the cafe au lait. Huh? What? What white chocolate? In the cafe au lait? The name itself tells you how to make it: coffee with milk. Don't offer anything more than drip if you can't make it. Now about the food. I got the classic Eggs Benedict (which is Copeland's style, so not so classic). It's on a biscuit, with pork loin, poached eggs, and hollandaise. I actually had to sit there and salt my own hollandaise because it had NO flavor. Neither did the cheddar grits. The ONLY flavorful thing on that plate was the fresh tomato slice, and that's because it had been sprinkled with a bit of pepper. My g/f's omelet (cheese, crawfish, and andouille) was oozing grease out of it with what can only be described as melancholy. We ate what we could, paid the check, and ran across the street to Starbucks for semi-decent coffee and a Rice Krispie treat. Never again. I'll just wait for my dad to get home so HE can make me breakfast next time I visit. The Bayou Broccoli was tasty, though.

Food was good, average. Service was good, but I did get take out at 10:50pm. I'd go there again, but probably wouldn't be my first choice but maybe second or third. The prices were on the high side, the menu was ok, not as many cajun dishes as I would expect. And they had a few fusion type dishes tossed in the menu as well.

I try not to give the wait staff a bad review, but I have to say avoid Hannah C. My husband has created a tradition of going to this Copelands when we visit our daughter. For a vegetarian, this place just doesn't work. I asked the waitress several times if the veggies were fresh, frozen or canned. Every time she assured me they were fresh. No they were NOT. The prices are also outrageous. We started with the the stuffed mushrooms. They were not stuffed but balls of stuffing wrapped around a very small mushroom and the bread was soggy. They ordered the roast beef poboy. Both said they were tasteless. Along with my veggies (which I sent back), I got the stuffed baked potato. It was dry, the cheese had harden. I asked for more sour cream, by the time I got it the potato had gone cold. Ordered coffee and it went cold before she brought a spoon. She also spilled a large glass if ice water on the table seated next to us and didn't clean it until they left! The desserts were ok. All in all, it was extremely expensive ($2.49 for iced tea), for lunch for three of us (and I only got a baked potato) was $70! This tradition will NOT continue.

I wish I could rate this lower. We brought a few guest for a before meal, before prom. We had made reservations. The restaurant wasn't very busy. We received our drinks in styrofoam cups because the waitress said they ran out of clean glasses. After waiting one & a half hours we finally walked out so they could still enjoy some of the time left of their prom. It was disappointing. However, it won't happen again because we won't go back. There are too many other options.

Overall the food is really good at Copeland's and in typical Copeland family fashion they have a very large men-u. The food always seems to very greasy and I never feel so great after eating at any of the Copelands locations because of this. This particular location doesn't have as good of service as the Kenner location. I would say service here is average. The last time I ate here the service was really bad. The waitress was going from table to table having personal conversations instead of tending to her tables.

Food service was slow today however our server was attentive and helpful as best as possible.

We arrived right before closing and they eagerly accommodated us. Good quality and portions. Service was superb, even though it was closing time. Will definitely go back.

(5)Anna C.

Hot salads, cold entrees and poor service. Given this place 3 chances and they struck out.

4 items were ordered. Had plenty food left over and no one wished to take left overs home - TO HORRIBLE. Gumbo had 3 very small shrimp and the chewy part of one oyster. Barbeque shrimp and ravioli, crab cakes and pasta, and shrimp and pasta were the other items ordered. Best one of these items was the crab cakes and pasta. I tried to get the crew to go to Camille's Café in Abita Springs on Hwy 59. Next time I think they definitely will. We told the manager how unhappy all were with the quality of the food. His response was just sorry. That did not cut it with us...

Ordered take out. Food was on time, hot and delicious. Only complaint is they seemed understaffed and it was a slow Monday night. I ordered the steak tasting plate and the crab cake appetizer. Both were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious!

Had a fine time for dinner here tonight. Service was attentive and polite. Food was just what we wanted and came as expected. Love the decor.
(5)Joshua G.
Ate there tonight at the bar tonight, Stephanie and holly waited on us. The service was awesome. Ask for the sweet tart drink, its not on the menu but Stephanie can make it if you ask. Food was incredible.

(1)Josh U.
(2)Lauryn M.
An experience worth trying! The food is incredible and so well seasoned. They have a multitude of choices, so no one will leave hungry. Delicious all the way !
