I call in my order and you tell me 15-20 minutes. I arrive 15 minutes later and pay for everything. About 2 minutes later you hand me my food and then tell me you couldn't fulfill my entire order for some reason. I'm assuming you thought I didn't need that food but instead I had to order something else. Now I have to wait over 20 minutes to get the rest of my order. It seems like it's quicker to make the original order than it is for you to fix my order. Food is great every time I've had it so no complains there.

oKAY.... I loved this place. We were on a Cajun culinary hunt. In NOLA and bourbon probably I was overwhelmed by the small substandard fare thrown at us for a premium price , when we chanced upon this establishment in yelp while on the way back to Lafayette.we were super hungry and man didn't we find the right place. I loved the chicken gumbo and perfect Bedouin balls. It was rich in flavor. The catfish atchafalaya was huge and lips mocking good. The topping was the price. It was so reasonable compared to the ripoff we faced in bourbon. The portions were huge. We also got our free dessert after our yelp checkin. Bread pudding with Cajun rum sauce. Loved it. Service was good and prompt. Definitely recommended.

The sampler is very good, the breading on the fried gator was kind of coming off the meat (because it was so juicy). I'm being super critical, it really was good. Now, for the main course, it was steak night I got them to put the Lafitte sauce (crabmeat, lemon, butter, cream) on top of mine. It was as good if not better than most of the high dollar steakhouses I go to! Joselynn, our waitress was great, and said it should be no problem to order the steaks that way anytime.

This place catered my wedding reception food. All my guests raved about how good everything was. It was!!! But get this, great taste didn't come at a great price. They provided bar services too. All around wonderful!

Great food! I was looking for a home cooked kind of meal and this place hit the nail on the head! Delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Food - Average (shrimp poboy & catfish plate are decent) Service - Average Decor - Could use some... Price: Higher than it should be Comment: The food was good when it first opened but now we head across the river to Parrain's or Mike Anderson's for good seafood.

Service was good as was the food. I have eaten here many times and the food seems to be consistent.

I've been at a work conference in Port Allen all week and on Monday Lunch was catered in from the nearby Louisian Bayou Bistro. It was a full Cajun spread which I thought was delicious (selective choosings), with my hosts opining that it was pretty good. That told me that we out-of-towners were relatively easy to please and that there were more preferred local options. Everyone down here seems to have some strong cuisine opinions!

I found their food to be really good. It can be salty though. I was told that you can request less salt or seasonings when you place order. I was told this after my last order, so I can't comment. I love their fried chicken.

As a fitting finale to our cajun creole culinary crawl, the meal of catfish atchafalaya, gumbo and the bread pudding that we had here was among the best meals I've had in restaurants. Friendly staff, good sized portions and a good sized menu.

I had seen differing reviews; couldn't stand the food, the staff was rude, etc., however, when I went it was lunch time, the buffet was out, which I had. It had home stuff: fried chicken, jambalaya, mashed potatoes, greens, BBQ pork chops, etc. My wife had the chicken lejuene, which is two chicken breasts smothered with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms, topped with pepper Jack cheese. Everything was awesome. When I checked-in to Yelp I had a coupon for a free dessert pop up. It was for this restaurant and no one knew about it, but they looked at it on my phone and honored it. That was THE BEST Turtle Cheese cake I have ever had. :-) The staff was very nice and friendly. All thumbs up.

We made an OpenTable reservation for 11AM on July 4. When we arrived at 10:45, no one was there. We waited until a little past 11 and also called the restaurant's phone number with no answer. They should not have allowed reservations if they were not going to be open and could have at least put a sign outside saying they would be closed on July 4. What a waste of time.

I was at a baseball tournament in Addis, so to kill some time we stopped in here after seeing the commercials. We were there at a dead time so there was NO EXCUSE for our lousy service. It took an hour for a waitress to even place our order. We didn't even order appetizers or anything. I liked the free Sister Schubert rolls. Their selection of wine was very limited, but cheap! The side sensation salad was strange (only came with black olives and there were probably at least 25 on there). The seafood gumbo was alright. My dad had the smokehouse salad, which was pretty good. I didn't like how it came with salad shrimp. When I order grilled shrimp on a salad, I expect big, butterflied shrimp with tail on. Maybe that's just me? I also thought the tables and chairs were ugly. I felt like I was in a cafeteria. They've got some kinks to work out. I wouldn't travel across the river to eat there. I don't think I would eat there again even if I was in West Baton Rouge.

Probably the best Cajun food experience I had while living in Baton rouge. I ate at almost every restaurant down there and this was my favorite. I guess they learned from others comments because for me, the service was always good. Menu is true Cajun with some unique items and perfect execution. This is my go-to spot for Cajun in the Baton Rouge area.

I tried this place based on a recommendation from the woman working the front desk at my hotel. As you enter the place looks like a market and not really a restaurant but a long hallway leads back to a spacious dining room that reminds me of a small town VFW. The chairs are the stackable type you might see in a gymnasium and the tables are a mix of booths and fourtops. There was no one manning the front so after a glance into a glass door freezer spying the stuffed frozen rabbit and a variety of sausages I made my way down the hall. A woman came out of the back and, without a word, looked at me with a puzzled look as if I had just wandered into her garage. I informed her that I was there for dinner. She told me to sit anywhere, I chose a booth. A couple of waitresses walked by me a few times without acknowledging me. After about 5 minutes a blond waitress informed me that someone would be with me in a minute. I said I could use a menu and she brought me one. My waitress showed up a couple of minutes later and asked what I want to drink. I asked her what kind of beer they have and she asked me what kind I want. I asked her again what kind they have and got the all-too-common response of bud, bud light, miller, miller light, coors, coors light... I asked if they had any better beers. Again, she asked me what kind I want. I don't know, maybe Sam Adams, Bass Ale......blank stare. You don't have any better beer than those?, I asked again. Then she said Abita. OK, I'll have an Abita. She proceeded to ask me if I wanted Amber, Purple Haze, and a couple of others. She could've saved me a few minutes if she had brought these up at the start. I ordered the amber. I ordered a cup of seafood gumbo and blackened redfish with a lemon-butter sauce and crabmeat with red beans and rice. She took the menu and walked away, only to return a moment later to ask if I wanted a bowl of chicken gumbo. Nooooo, it was a cup of seafood gumbo. The food came promptly. The entree was nicely prepared but served on a cold plate. This is a pet peeve of mine. She also brought the gumbo at the same time. That was also placed in a cup that was not warmed at all. Needless to say, my food got cold pretty fast. The red beans had a nearly translucent quality to them and not much character. The gumbo was tasty enough, if a little thin for my taste. The seafood pretty much consisted of small shrimp. The fish was properly cooked and the sauce was flavorful with large chunks of crabmeat on it. I reached for the tabasco sauce on the table. It was an empty bottle. I grabbed one from the next table. All in all, the service was less than friendly but not rude. I stopped in the restroom after I was done and it was not particularly clean and smelled strongly of urine. I am sure there are better places to find Cajun food in and around Baton Rouge.

I'll admit, living in West Baton Rouge Parish means that unless you want to cross that bridge, you're dining options are pretty limited. Of course, if you don't want fast food even that tiny number is cut in half. That's why my family and I have become frequent patrons of Bayou Bistro. It's about the only place we can count on for some decent seafood or a bowl of Gumbo. From what I read in the previous review, it sounds like the reviewer entered through what appears to be the front entrance of the restaurant but is actually the to-go entrance. For anyone not familiar with the place, it's really confusing! The true restaurant entrance is behind the building, along with a small additional parking lot. While I get take-out quite a bit here, I've dined in a few times as well, and while I can't say it's exceptional service, it's never really been bad either. Being a small, local joint, most of the waitresses are young students, and I'm sure they're used to regulars who know just what they want. As for our crew, I know we'll be back again. Maybe even tonight!

So lucky to have found this little hole in the wall just before the lunch buffet ended. Spicy, fresh deliciousness. Mmmmmm

Restaurant is actually at the back but quick lunch orders are placed in the front cafe. Ordered an oyster poboy for lunch, but cashier is totally disorganized. Not even sure if she placed my order but after 20 minutes, could not even find my order. In summary, food is good, service is poor
