I really wish I had ordered the crawfish, they looked so good! Instead, I tried frog legs and alligator for the first time. Yum! The frog legs were pretty much just chicken wings. The alligator was chewy/rubbery, but only if you really paid attention and tried to notice it...otherwise it was just little hunks of white meat. I also tried the catfish and shimp which were good as expected. Gotta add that hot sauce to finish off the flavor profile. The only thing that was missing for me were more sides options. I don't like french fries being the only option (or at least that's what comes default with everything). Still a really nice little place to get some nice fried seafood.

Decent food, I've had better, but I have had a LOT worse. They are probably one of the best poboys I have had here in the Shreveport/Bossier area. The fried rice is absolute garbage though. The owners are from New Orleans, just like myself. I was chatting with him once and he said his family owned Read Seafood in New Orleans East. I used to frequent that place when I lived in NOLA. Aside from the food, their customer service isn't the best. They charge for cocktail and tartar sauce. Not only that, but its a $5 minimum purchase when using a debit or credit card. So when my wife wanted some tartar sauce, they not only wanted her to pay for it, but she had to buy another $5 worth of food in order to pay for it!! (because we had no cash on us). I though that was a bit ridiculous.

During the last couple of months, I've passed through the area quite a bit. So when this place came up on my Yelp search, I figured I'd have to get it a try. Upon walking in, it was pretty empty for a Saturday around noon time. Nice and clean...but a slow. I tried the Shrimp Po-boy. I was expecting a lot more flavor and taste than what I got. To their credit, there was plenty of shrimp on the Po-boy, way more than would fit into the sandwich itself. But it was like they forgot to season the shrimp or something. Just plain fried shrimp, big deal. After adding some hot sauce which added a little flavor, it was ok. My other issue, whoever was at the counter that day was not friendly or helpful at all. Maybe he was having a bad day, who knows. The lady picking up and cleaning tables was helpful and friendly as to check on me a few times and ofter to refill my drink. Overall, the prices are good, the service ok, my Po-boy bland. They have a large menu, so hopefully the rest of the menu is pretty good, For me, three stars for price and portion sizes.

I don't know how some people would rate this less than 3 STARS..Ok if you're looking for a fancy restaurant, then this is definitely not your place to go eat. This restaurant has great food, clean atmosphere and good prices!. The crawfish (if you go during the crawfish season) you can get big crawfish and very tasty. Salty? Depends on your level of taste. I didn't think it was salty. The prices are very inexpensive compare to other places that does have crawfish. The atmosphere is very clean! I guess you can't satisifed everyone.......

After reading the reviews about how good their Shrimp PoBoys are i had to try it. I ordered a Sprimp PoBoy and a side of Boudin for dinner. Both were really good! It was way too much food to eat for one sitting. I would def reccommend this place for lunch or for a great sandwich.

Myself and a few others went after hearing rave reviews on the crawfish this store sells. While I admit the crawfish was alright the other items we ordered from the menu were not. I ordered a serving of their gumbo and after one bite I could tell thy had used frozen seafood. The meat in the gumbo was stiff and hard to chew. It was a waste of 4 dollars. The service was lax as the woman at the register didnt seem particularly happy to see us. Id have to say the service of the year award goes to the young girl who was working there as she was polite and thoughtful during or whole visit. I would never go hear again Shanes is a much better place to eat crawfish in the Bossier/Shreveport area.

Asked the valet at our hotel where we should go to get good NOLA style seafood and I could kiss him for sending us to Kim's. The crawfish were awesome. Yummy fried shrimp. Husband was crazy about his gumbo. It's in a strip mall so don't blink or you'll miss it. But don't miss it when you're in Shreveport!

We stopped by here to eat on our way to Lafayette from Dallas and the crawfish was very disappointing....very bland and salty. We're big fans of juicy saucy-type crawfish that one would fine at Boiling Crab, and this place does not even come close to compare. The corn and potatoes were (sold separately) in little baggies on the counter and looked like they have been there all day. Unfortunately, we were done after three pounds. The hot sauce and ketchup on the table did salvage the meal somewhat but would best be served on sandwiches, which we did not try. For those desperate for crawfish and need to get their fix I would recommend making it yourself before going to Kim's Seafood.

Kim's Seafood was a nice start to our Shreveport Era. Wife had their grilled tilapia and I had their fried soft shell crabs. The crabs were the most moist and delicate I think I have ever had and were delicious. It's a casual, order at the counter diner, and it hit the spot for a late night casual meal..

Pretty much figured this place for an Asian seafood store/market based on signage. Was undeterred, as they would have to cater to local market and offer local food. While the soft shell crab was decent, the shrimp and gator bites had no taste and I was charged for getting more than 1 cocktail sauce. I ordered 3 different items to try them all and get one sauce? One time visit!

Most people would be surprised to know this is the best place in Shreveport and Bossier to get crawfish. True dat! These New Orleans transplants came to SB after Katrina and we are so lucky.

Just polished off 8 pounds of Crawfish and they were just right.. Very fresh and delicious. Place was clean and staff were friendly. Was here late on Friday evening and didn't appear real clean but it was late and honestly how clean can you keep the floors where you're constantly cracking and peeling crawfish. Friday I had had fried oyster and shrimp and they were great. The visit is better at lunch time because of the location. Location is not against them because in the late evening people from other stores in the strip mall hang out along the sidewalks smoking.... Hate walking through that but the food made it worth the brief moment of holding your breath...

Stopped into Kim's Seafood (AKA Kim's Place) while on a side-trip from a hunting trip to Texas and met some friends in Shreveport/Bossier. It's in a strip mall with fluorescent lighting and plastic chairs. However, ambience aside, this place was quite good. I ordered a combo plate with fried catfish, shrimp and oyster. Everything tasted quite fresh and delicious and my friends all liked what they'd ordered (boiled shrimp combo and tilapia plate). I was hoping to go back the following day for a crack at some crawfish (we west-coasters didn't know what to make of those things, but after watching everyone else in the place eating crawfish, I thought I was up to the task). Unfortunately, the timing didn't work and we couldn't fit it in but everybody else in the place was loving the massive buckets of boiled crawfish. I give it 5 stars on food quality and 3 on environment. It was never supposed to be fine dining, but it just seems like it could be made more comfy because it is a down-home kind of place. I'd definitely go back and next time a pound of crawfish is going DOWN!

Originally, I thought this was a true Cajun restaurant and was planning on getting a shrimp po-boy. When I arrived I realized to sis an Asian restaurant, looked around and saw someone eating fried rice, it looked good, and figured that would be the safer choice. I ordered combination fried rice and it was horrible. It tasted like rice and grease with chunks of cardboard in it. They claim to use gulf seafood but the shrimp did not have a taste at all, unlike gulf shrimp.

This place isn't that bad. I wouldn't say it's the best Louisiana food out there but it worked. I had the gumbo with wasn't 1/2 bad and my husband has a catfish plate and the catfish was really good. I'd say for a quick lunch it's not a bad option but I wouldn't call it the best in the whole state.

Crawfish was very salty and lacked the juicy sauce flavor. Based on my experience Kim's Seafood just does not cut it and, quite frankly, I don't see where all the hype is coming from. That being said, the crawfish wasn't horrible just not as flavorful as one would expect.

Amazing crawfish, amazing workers, the place is just awesome. Only been in Bossier City for about 2 weeks have eaten here about 5 times! that's how good it is. Go and check it out you won't be disappointed!!

Horrible customer service! Walked in to an unwelcoming front counter person. She was super rude, unfriendly, inattentive and apparently to busy with her phone. When I would ask for a lime or even as simple as a lid for my cup she would say that doesn't come with your order. What kind of customer service is that? All asked for was a lid?!? The food wasn't even that great like people make it seem. It's crappy, cheap and plain. I can get better service, better food, and in a much nicer place for the same price I paid!!! Never going there again

Went to Kims on January 23rd for crawfish. Crawfish price was $5.49/LB. The sizes weren't huge yet but not too small either. Only got two LBs but it was SOOOO good. They were my first 2 LBs of 2013. Can't wait to suck on more heads!

I'm not really sure what everyone is raving about. On a recent trip to Shreveport, we asked about 7 different people where we could go to get some great craw fish in the city, and only one of them answered. It turned out to be Kim's. Now, we're from Dallas, and all Dalli-tude aside, we have got some great options for craw fish here. But I was sure that actually being in Louisiana would blow our food out of the water. When we walked in the heavenly smell of craw fish assaulted us, my stomach grumbled, and all I could think about was eating. We ordered a platter of catfish and a couple pounds of craw fish. The catfish was lack luster at best, the tarter sauce was great though. But beware, you only get one, then they start nickel and dime-ing you for more. The craw fish, they precook, and have sitting in a big cooler which they scoop out for you and place on a scale. Very tacky, and my craw fish didn't stay hot for very long after she scooped it out. If you've ever had craw fish you know that you need it as hot as possible. The smell of seasoned craw fish in the building ,was not the taste on my plate. Very annoying. To top it off, you have to pay extra if you want to add more seasoning to their flavorless craw fish. I ended up having to dip my tails in hot sauce! All in all, the experience sucked and we went and ate right after eating here. What a disappointment.

Amazing Shrimp Po-boy sandwich! The sandwich is almost too large to eat, but it is very good. The #59- Shrimp, catfish and oyster poboy sandwich is the best in Shreveport.

This is such a great restaurant. I have been going to see Kim for once a month since 2009. This is my fav restaurant in Shreveport. I'm grew up in New Orleans and Kim being from there is a huge plus. He cooks very authentic New Orleans style food. He makes the best crawfish in North Louisiana. If you want really good Cajun food at a really good price go see Kim. If you are looking for a fancy place this is not that place. If you are looking for very good food this is the place for you.

Best ever seafood poorboy ever! I have had them everywhere, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Galveston, North & South Carolina. None better. I ordered the shrimp and oyster poorboy combination and there was a ton of seafood and it was fully dressed. Best bread too! You can get french fries with the poorboy or their shrimp fried rice. Go for the rice, great side dish. Kudos to Kim.

The hype! The unbelievable hype! OMG! 5 stars, 5 stars, 5 stars, 5 stars! I, admittedly, had never even heard of this place, though I am quite familiar with the area in which it is located. I was instantly intrigued! You guys can't blow up a place like this with constant 5 star ratings and not expect someone to get their hopes and expectations up. The tone of most of the reviews here make it seem like some of these people want their bodies to lie in state inside this place after passing on to the afterlife, that or have their ashes spread onto the grounds here. Look! It's okay food! It's not bad! I liked my fried shrimp po boy with everything on it. It was just fine! It was fresh. The shrimp was crispy. The sandwich was dressed really well. I ordered mine as a combo, for a shade close to 11 bucks which came with a drink and a choice of fried rice or french fries. I teeter-tottered on the side choice, and ultimately went against tradition and my taste buds, by ordering the fried rice. I ordered the rice, because they offered it and I thought it was an odd choice to go with a po boy so, it must be good. I thought there must be a reason they are offering it. I wasn't even sure if the rice would be fried with anything, or just fried. It turns out the rice is fried with teeny-tiny, little itty bitty shrimp the size of sea-monkeys (which by the way, are brine shrimp...sea monkeys are brine shrimp, hey ya learned somethin') The fried rice was definitely not the way to go. An elementary school cafeteria could make better fried rice than this. They also do not de-vein their shrimp, which is always a crap shoot (pun, intended!) when eating fried shrimp in these parts. For me, I side more on the non-pooh-shrimp dining experience. But I can man up, and eat eat them pooh-included if I have to, I just prefer not to do so. I'm no Cajun. I love south Louisiana. I have lived in south Louisiana. I have devoured a many great po boys in my life and some of the best po boys come from the strangest of places, like gas stations and I fully realize that. This po boy that I had on this particular day, was a good po boy but it did not fall in line with the memory of the great po boys that I have had in my life or the places that I have had them. I can appreciate everyone's passion and enthusiasm, maybe even phanaticism for this place and maybe I'm wrong here, but I just don't think it's worth rushing over to this place, cutting over six lanes of traffic, ramping over the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge, getting a speeding ticket, maybe having a wreck or two along the way and all the while endangering the lives of innocent pedestrians just to get over to this little traffic-ridden strip mall in Bossier City to sample what in the end will ultimately be somewhat of a disappointment in stark contrast to all the hype.

This is a gem of a dive! We were in town on a business trip and I love local restaurants. Yelp introduced us to this place. The catfish platter was yummy. My husband got the shrimp po boy and he was pleased. It happens to be crawfish season so all the locals were eating them out of buckets! Some nice couple shared some with us and they were wonderful! We definately will go back if we are ever in town again!

Great tasting/spicy cajun boiled crawfish for $5.49/lb. Seasoning was perfect and made for a great cheap lunch. Will definitely be back.
