Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

A wonderful place with a great family atmosphere! The waiters are very nice and accommodating. I have been here several times and have always left very happy and full! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu! Highly recommend!

I ordered Chicken Parmesan for take-out. It was absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it. The chicken was well cooked. Hot, juicy, fabulous. The sauce is so good - not sweet like others that I've had. I don't like sweet sauce. The staff was friendly, and my order was ready when promised. My only negative comment about this place is that there is no lunch menu. $15 is a little more than I want to spend on lunch. Don't get me wrong- it's delicious, and probably worth it, but I'll be eating on this plate for 2 days, easy-maybe even 3 days. A lunch menu would be smaller portions for lower prices- I'd be able to grab lunch here more often!

We finally decided to order Bistro Italia for lunch at the office and I can't believe we waited so long. I got the eggplant parm sandwich and it was awesome. It came with home made chips topped with Parmesan and (I think) garlic. They were amazing. Everyone in the office loved what they had. I actually just ordered it again for lunch today. I wanted the Italian sandwich but on a wrap and they were happy to do that for me. Great restaurant for the Coursey/Sherwood area!

Best Chicken Parmesan sandwich I've ever had! Lets start with the size of the sandwich it was huge and it also came with a huge salad. ( or fresh cut potato chips if you want) so I had half of my salad & sandwich leftover for lunch the next day.Their sauce is sooo good too so I ordered extra sauce because I got the Fried Mozzarella so I wanted a little bit more sauce to dip my sandwich in.My boyfriend got the Meatball sandwich with the homemade potato chips that had Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top of them & both of them were really good too.I like the fact that this place is not a chain, its a family owned little place.I also like that you have a choice for your sides. You can pick the homemade chips or one of two different salads. Only thing is that its kind of hard to see the sign at night but its where Rotolos used to be on Coursey Blvd.I ll definitely be eating here again.

This Italian restaurant gets my five-star rating! It's tough to find honest, like your New Jersey mother made it, good Italian food in Louisiana. That's not a slam on the chefs in the Bayou state... It's just that if you haven't grown up eating real Italian food then you may not understand that what is being served at a lot of restaurants in this area really isn't authentic immigrant Italian fare. Bistro Italia is the real deal. I was greeted promptly when I entered the restaurant... Which, by the way, is in a store front in a small plaza. Don't let that put you off. I've had some great meals at places just like this... Dough Pizzeria in San Antonio comes to mind. A nice clean environment with good lighting. Anyway, my server Gavin informed me that Wednesday night was $5 wine night. Any glass of wine was only $5. I chose a nice chianti, and reviewed the menu. I was delighted to learn that John, the owner/chef, is originally from New Jersey and many of the Italian recipes come from his family. I started with a Caesar salad. It was nicely prepared. For an entree, I decided to keep it simple and go with a litmus test for Italian restaurants... Spaghetti and meatballs. The plate was served with a generous portion of pasta and topped with a delicious marinara, and accompanied by two large meatballs. (The meatballs were made with a similar recipe that my Italian wife uses... Including a mixture of beef and pork.) This meal was spot on point, perfect in every way. I will return!

I've been on an Italian foods high recently so I'm trying all my surrounding areas. When you walk through the doors of this place, the aroma hits you and you can't wait to get your food. Service was very good. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan pasta for pick up. The eggplant was stuffed with mozzarella and was pretty good. The tomato sauce is good, a little on the saltier side but you either like it salty or sweet. Personal preference, I like it to be a little sweeter so the saltiness hindered me from devouring the whole meal. But you do get a good amount of it. I would say this place is worth the try and the menu is very broad so I'll be back to try other items. The price is fair for the amount of food you get.

My first time and not my last! Service was great but the food was a little salty for my taste. I had the eggplant wrap for lunch and shared garlic knots with my friends! The wrap was good but a little less dressing form and the knots were cooked perfectly! practically melting in your mouth! Can't wait to go back! The price was reasonable

What a great little place this is. We stopped in for lunch. I had seen the place for a while now, but never was able to stop in. I had forgotten about it til I started researching Italian food in Baton Rouge on Yelp. I had been to all the high-priced places and was tired of paying exorbitant prices, so I was looking for a reasonably priced place for lunch. Overall, the reviews were extremely good, so we decided to try it. What a great decision! Food was excellent, staff friendly and prices just what the doctor ordered. My wife and I split the Chicken Parmesan sandwich, had an order of the homemade cheesesticks, and splurged with a sundae for dessert. Only drawback was that they were out of their version of cherry pie. Even people at the adjoining booth bragged about the pizza and the Bistro Beignets. Great job, Bistro Italia! We will be back!

We decided to try Bistro Italia since it was nearby and open past 9 on Friday. The atmosphere is cozy, service is friendly, lots of good choices on the menu for appetizers, salad, pasta, pizza, calzone, and sandwiches. We ordered the sensation salad and italian salad and enjoyed both of them. The server had received very positive feedback on their eggplant parmesan, so we tried it and we really liked it. The prices are fair, and we will definitely be back to try one of their calzones.

In the mood for pasta, I stopped here for lunch and ordered the Chicken Alfredo. Let me be clear, it was not gross. But neither was it delicious. What it was, was twenty dollars for iced tea, pasta, and a tip. At lunchtime. Also, the only seasoning in the dish was (not exaggerating) what must have been two entire handfuls of black pepper. It completely overwhelmed the cream sauce and coated the chicken (which tasted like it had been boiled before dicing), and made for a strange, inadvisable departure from a meal that's pretty hard to screw up. Service was great - they do a cute call and response when orders are up, and my drink was never empty for long. But between the high price and a meal that was uninspired and oddly seasoned, I would be hard pressed to return, given the broad scope of restaurant competition in the area.

My husband and I got here at least once a week! Everything on the menu is delicious! Best place for homemade Italian food in Baton Rouge! Love the staff & atmosphere!

Nice atmosphere with attentive service. No reservations but called ahead since we were a party of nine. Table was ready when we got there. Really good Italian food. Large portions. Terrific chicken Parmesan. Loved my Greek Pizza. Since I love crispy crust, I would ask them to fire it a little longer but overall I highly recommend it. Husband is an Italian from NYC and he was impressed.

I enjoyed coming to this restaurant. Comfy atmosphere. The staff was extremely nice and welcomining. The classic lasagna and the Eggplant parmesean were delicious. I highly recommend.

This restaurant is located in the old Rotolos on Coursey. It has been completely updated! It looks like Robert Irvine stepped into this warm and inviting restaurant. So beautifully decorated, you will not recognize it! The staff was super and the restaurant was immaculate. As soon as I walked through the door, the wonderful aroma brings me back to my grandmother house when she made spaghetti and meatballs. We've been twice. We got the The Meathead pizza. Meatballs, pepperoni and Italian sausage... Oh my! Absolutely fabulous! The crust is perfect! The meatballs are moist and generously sliced and the crumbled Italian sausage knocks this pizza out of the park! Tonight we ordered the East Coast Classic and John the Butcher calzones with a small sensation salad. The calzones are huge! Perfectly baked and beautifully presented. All of the ingredients were fresh and delicious and there are cheesy surprises in some bites! (I loved the addition of Rocotta!) The warm marinara that comes on the side is the best in town. Loved both the calzones and if you asked me to choose on, I don't think I could. There's plenty left for at least another couple of meals. The sensation salad rocks! The garlicky dressing was delicious and I loved the crumbled cheese. Can't wait to go back!
