This place has huge servings and GREAT virgin daiquiris. However, the food is average...just average!

Food had no flavor. I got Burrito Verde and my husband had chicken fajitas. Its hard to mess up fajitas for him because he usually loves them all but he couldn't eat these with having a drink with it. Server was friendly but never came back to check on us and we had to ask someone else to get us a refill. We won't be back.

Jim and I ate here on the evening of Sunday, 23Oct2011 at 16:45. Armando was our server. Jim had the Pescado Acapulco and I had the Nachos de Camarones. The onions/green peppers were a tad over cooked, yet the pescado (catfish filet) was perfectly done. The camarones (shrimp) had some spiciness without being too hot. The white cheese sauce fit it perfectly. For postre (dessert) we had a banana wrapped in a flour tortilla, deep fried, served with a honey glaze and cinnamon and three scoops of ice cream and whipped cream. Absolutely cielo (heaven). Ask for Armando - he knows the kitchen and what they do well. his suggestion of the sangria was a great complement to our meal. Extensive menu. Clean restroom.

Salsa was the consistency of tomato sauce w/o cilantro or onions. Guacamole was also like a green paste with a couple random tidbits of onion and tomato. Chips were thick and unsalted. I ordered the Chimichanga Fajita (chicken). The tortilla was not crisp, although the contents were flavorful. The refried beans yet another brown paste, absolutely tasteless and the rice was bland. Over all this was a very liquified thin white cheese sauce. If you're looking for cafeteria style tex mex, then this is the place for you.

We are in Alexandria once a month so we visit several places. Hands down best Mexican in town. Clean. Authentic. Helpful staff. Varied menu. Chicken chimichanga is fantastic. My husband always has something unique and authentic and is very happy. Kind of hard to find. In a strip mall close to Walmart. Worth the effort.

Service was not so engaged but the food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Alexandria Louisiana who is looking for GOOD Mexican food. Actually I love this town. Great friends at the Pentecostals of Alexandria in a town that is friendly and easy to get around.

This is probably the best Mexican food I've had in Louisiana. Most of the places in Louisiana where I've had mexican or texmex food follow the same formula. Same type of beans and sauces etc in every dish. Luckily, this one does it right. I mainly had the enchiladas and they were delicious. The tomatilla sauce was also some of the best I've had outside of a few places in Houston. The queso is creamy and not like the velveeta stuff I have gotten at many Louisiana mexican restaurants. The chips have that nice sheen of oil on them which means they are likely fried in the restaurant and not just pulled from a plastic bag! Most Louisiana mexican places I've visited only have refried beans, but I was pleased to find them charro (that would be like a stew) at this restaurant. I didn't have a problem with the wait staff. They are not very talkative, but from I can gather they might not speak english as well as we do. I never had any waiter be downright rude to me though and I actually like a less talkative wait staff. I'm not there to socialize, I'm there to eat! And the prices? Very cheap in comparison to what I'm use at similar establishments. So if you are visiting from Texas or another border state and want a taste of home, this is definitely the place to get it.

This is a really nice little place. It is clean and the service was quick and friendly. The bathroom was kinda nasty though and needed a good mopping. The main problem is the food. If I pay $11 for chicken fajitas, I expect them to have some flavor to them. These were souless, tasteless dishes that came out to us. Might be better off looking elsewhere for tasty mexican food.

Our family visits this restaurant on a regular basis. We mainly stick with our favorites like the tacos and burritos. The fajitas are pretty good too but the veggies are a little over cooked for my taste.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
