Really good pizza! I ordered a mighty meaty medium pizza and it was great. Crust was thin while the edge was thick. Lots of meat for toppings. Highly recommend it. It wasn't very busy so the pizza arrived within 18 minutes after my order. And it was hot. Concerns included the temperature of the place. It was FREEZING inside. Only 75 or so outside so that wasn't the reason. Patrons were going out to their cars for jackets to wear. My waitress, Shelby, did a great job. Even sent home a take out tea glass with my left overs.

I love, love, love their pizza dough! I tried a calzone today, and I'm not sure that I will ever go back to eating pizza! They offer a nice variety of pizzas, calzones, salads, and various appetizers (all of which are ridiculously good). The service is good, and they even offer trivia on Wednesday nights.

Best gluten free pizza around. Tons of fun combinations. I highly recommend the white pie. The portabella mushroom appetizer is awesome as a meal of you aren't super hungry. Their pizzas are more pricey than most but are huge and well worth it! We typically do takeout but the atmosphere is pretty fun if u wanna stay in as well.

I'll start off with the pros of this place. Their food selection is great. I ended up getting the hogie and it was amazing. We also got the pretzel starters and I liked how they were very doughy and not too over done. The only reason why I won't be going back to this location, the service was awful. Our waitress forgot some of our food and people were eating without each other. Me ans a friend ordered a drink from the bar and it took 20 mins to get it. (They weren't that busy) and then she just stood and talked to the bartender and after 10 mins of that, he walked down the other side to get out drinks where he's had them waiting for her. She never got any of us refill and every time we needed to ask a question, she was too busy yapping her mouth to some. Very very disappointed with this service

Absolutely outstanding. My son and I hit this place up for the first time and were greatly pleased. Below is my recap. Food - The food was awesome. We had the large pepperoni pizza and it was loaded with cheese and toppings. It was nice and hot and had a nice doughy crust. Service - Phenomenal. We sat in the bar area were served by the bartender. She made great recommendations on food and drink. Drinks were always filled and we felt welcome and valued as customers. Drink - If you like beer, you will LOVE this place. I couldn't even count the beers they had on tap. Good stuff, not crap. Atmosphere - It was pleasant and comfortable. The staff seemed upbeat and genuinely happy doing what they were doing. Clean, neat, and cozy. I would definitely recommend you stopping by to try the place out. You won't be disappointed.

People have comparing this place to Dewey's - ok, it's good, but don't be going crazy, you guys! It's no Dewey's. The atmosphere is simultaneously fun, busy and chill. I'm not sure how they manage to do it, but they do! They have a wide variety of pizzas and since we came here at 6pm, the rush hadn't yet begun so we were able to get seated right away. Their beer selection is pretty decent, too. It is a bit on the price-y side, but most good pizza is!

I love this location because it hasn't been crowded any time we go. The service is pretty good and the food is always tasty.

The food isn't bad here except the pizza was VERY greasy. I eat a lot of pizza and the pizza here had more than any other pizza I've had in a long time. I'm actually pretty worried that I may start breaking out after eating here. If I do, then I probably won't be back again. If I don't, then it may be worth another try. Also, the staff here are not friendly in the least, didn't see a single person working here crack a smile even once. My waiter must have been magic because after he took my order he disappeared and I never saw him again until it was time for the check...

Mellow Mushroom has really amazing pizza. This was my first time at this particular location - I was surprised by how not-busy they were on a Friday evening but the food was still great. We had an appetizer of the parmesan pretzels with red sauce. They were really good but I think we should have gone for the beer cheese. Next time! My husband is not very adventurous in the pizza topping department so we just had a pepperoni and sausage pizza. It was delicious! The service was good - our server was a little awkward and hovered a little too long whenever he came by and we didn't need anything. Overall though, everything was great and I would definitely come back here again. It's just right across the river so it was a nice option for pizza before the Reds game! Only took us about 5 minutes to drive back over into Cincinnati to get to the ballpark.

Really good pizza, but this place gets slammed! If you don't want a long wait, plan ahead...and you will probably still have to wait. :D A bit pricey for pizza though. I have been to five different Mellow Mushroom locations and the food has been consistently good. The decor is funny and they have cool t-shirts that are slightly different at each store. Kosmic Karma is a great pizza for you pesto lovers!

We went to the restaurant and waited 30 minutes and there were about 15 clean tables open and they had not seated anyone. We asked the hostess why they had not seated anyone and they responded we are trying to get things situated. They said we can seat you right now, then we waited another 15 minutes. So we handed our buzzer in and left for a better experience at at different restaurant.

Being a beer geek, I was pretty excited when I heard we were getting a Mellow Mushroom. Not that I'd ever been to one, but it seemed everyone always raved about the ber selection. Things worked out that we were actually at the restaurant 15 minutes after it opened on its first day. You never would have known that it was the first day from how smooth things seemed to be going. We happened to sit near the bar so we heard some "off stage" conversations about issues that weren't up to standards, but even those were minor. Now the place has been open for a couple of months and my wife and I have been back several times. Our pattern is usually to go at lunch and get a large pizza that will go for lunch and dinner. Our favorite is the Philosopher's Pie. It's a white pizza with artichoke hearts and steak and it's delicious. Highly recommended. Is it the best pizza in town? Can't say that because people want different things out of their pizza. I always used to give Dewey's the nod for the most interesting pizza in town. All I'll say now is that Dewey's is going to have to step up their game. They have competition, and you know who wins? Us. It's a great beer list. 35 taps. They're not rotating as much as I'd like to see, but I love seeing Mt. Carmel, Rivertown, Alltech's Lexington Brewery and Louisville's Cumberland Brewing represented. The bartenders are knowledgable, and they'll let you sample something if you're not familiar with it enough to commit to a pint.

I was surprised that I like their pizza better than Dewey's since I am a Dewey's fiend, through and through. In fact, the two places are very similar, especially price-wise, which makes my wallet pout, but my waistline happy, as these establishments are rare treats. I would even go as far as to say that Mellow Mushroom is the stoner cousin to Dewey's. The service at the Wilder location was quite good on the night I was there (a Monday night, which seemed a strange night for the place to be packed, but packed it was. Might have been because it was also the first day back at school for NKU, which is relatively nearby, but who knows?) Moving on, glory be to a place that has Magic Hat #9 on draft. This is the beer that turned me into a beer fan/snob. Essence of apricot? Yes please! On the table tent (you know, one of those little cardboard pop-up things that usually has booze or dessert suggestions on it), it suggested pairing a #9 with a "Magic Mystery Tour" Pizza, which I did, and ooh, am I glad I did! It was a lovely pairing, jalepeno with a frou-frou girly beer. I was in heaven. (My one complaint was they seemed to have skimped on ingredients, but they were very busy, so maybe that is why.) If my current semester at NKU goes as well as I hope, I look forward to rewarding myself with another trip here to test out more of their extensive beer menu, and to explore other delicious pizza options. Also, you've gotta love a place that calls their restrooms "Flushrooms." I should have checked out the facilities, but didn't actually have to go, so it didn't occur until later that I should have at least peeked in to check out the state of the toilets.

The service was good but the prices are high. Thumbs up for having gluten free crust but they dont tell u it only comes in med or large until u get the bill. They took it off the bill because it didn't arrive until 10 mins after everyone else's food. Wait for the crowd to die down.

Seriously good pizza, a ton of salad options, and lots and lots of beer on draft...what's not to like? Not to mention it's right in my neighborhood...yay! It was their opening day today, so I was willing to cut them some slack particularly on service and speed until the kinks are worked out, and they did need some grace on that--particularly on speed. But that was really the only hitch and one I'm sure they'll figure out with a few more weeks. They could also stand to turn the music down a tad, but it was tolerable. The menu has hoagies and calzones in addition to pizzas, but we were looking to try the main event first time out and were not disappointed. The crust was chewy without being doughy and the toppings on their version of a BBQ Chicken pizza were generous and high quality. They have both specialty and create-your-own in the salads and the pizzas, with lots of options for both. Pretty good value for the quality too--about $20 (before tip) to split a large salad and small (10") pizza. Other things to note: they have a 'beer club' if you want to try all the different kinds and keep track; they'll be adding a trivia night at some point in the future, and there's no smoking anywhere inside (woo-hoo!).

This is a chain... but that's okay because it's a great chain! Their pizza is super delicious and just the way I like it - not a super thick crust and not covered in gobs of sauce. The hoagies are really good as well and are a nice alternative to pizza if you just aren't in the mood. I haven't tried their standard salads, but I have done a Build Your Own and was pleasantly surprised as the size of the portion. It was a huge salad and a great value for the price. Surprisingly, Mellow Mushroom also has DELICIOUS hummus. I highly, highly recommend ordering it as an appetizer or take some to go to enjoy at home later. They will give you pita bread to go, too, if you go that route. It is so good!

Let's face it, anyone who puts a dining establishment named "Mellow Mushroom" in somewhere called "Wilder" has an ironic sense of humor don't they? The biggest challenge to this place is finding it. It is set so far back off the highway and roadways it is entirely invisible to all passing traffic. You frankly HAVE to know it is there... and even then you need some kind of sixth sense to locate it as there is woefully inadequate signage to guide you to its 'back of beyond' setting crammed into the corner of another one of those godforsaken sunken 'developments' Kentucky has a nasty habit of building. I sure hope the owners bought or rent the space inexpensively as in terms of 'location, location, location' it is more descriptively 'crap, crap, crap' That said, and given Mellow Mushroom's somewhat 'stoner' vibe, their predominant clientele is more likely to be students from the relatively nearby NKU rather than tourists used to a Barrel full of Cracker. The place is bedecked in what I can only describe as 'Grateful Dead Chic', tie-died t-shirts and Alice in Wonderland imagery in abundance. When you walk in you are greeted by staff standing beside what appears to be a huge colorful mushroom that reaches to the ceiling... and that's BEFORE sampling any of their vast selection of mainstream and craft beers from all over the world! And just in case you were under any misapprehension about their 'core market' they call their appetizer choices "munchies". 'nuff said I think? Their food is great but runs a little expensive considering the market they're in and presumably trying to appeal to. Their 10" specialty pizzas - thin crust, thick edged - run around $12 each, whilst the 16" 'sharing' variety (I use the word 'sharing' advisedly you understand) can go as high as $24. They also do good looking calzones and an impressive selection of salads and deli/grilled hoagies, so there should be something there to satisfy even the most jaded of palates. On my most recent visit I tried the Hawaiian Pizza which came out hot and bubbling, the ham, mozzarella and pineapple toppings generous and very tasty indeed. It has duly gone on to my mental 'favorites' list for the future. For all my neggy remarks about their location, Mellow Mushroom evidently does something right as the place has never been less than half-full on any of the occasions we have visited. The staff have generally been friendly, fun and attentive and the kitchen-to-table wait has never been anything more than 15 minutes. I just wish the restaurant was located somewhere a bit more vibrant and exciting... if only to give us more than one reason to visit the place and enjoy its tasty treats.

This pizza place comes with a large variety of great beers on tap, and is worth the visit based on that offering alone. Only having been there once (so far) I can't comment on all the pizzas, but the one we had was very good, and they do offer a wide variety of pizza types. I seemed to go there when everyone else decided to go, but didn't mind waiting at the bar for a table. I don't want to give the wrong impression, it is a family friendly place and there were many families with children there when I visited. The staff was attentive, and there was plenty of parking.

I've eaten at this location several times now, so it is long overdue for a review. I like the pizza. It isn't thin crust like I prefer, but it's a solid hand-tossed variety. I have tried several different kinds, but the Red Skin Potato is my favorite. In addition to a good selection of pizzas and other fare, they also have a good craft beer selection. That's always appreciated. The dining room and parking lot are both open and large; however, they are frequently full. This place gets busy! Just last week, we drove down on a Tuesday night only to find a 30 minute wait just for a table. On a Tuesday night? Wow. To make matters worse, the service is painfully slow and can be a bit rude at times. It's not unusual to spend 2-3 hours here trying to get fed all while the server fails to come back for refills, to check on the table, etc. For me, the food isn't that good, and for a relaxed pizza night with the family, that isn't what I look for. Overall, Mellow Mushroom is a good place to go once in a while...if only for the food and drinks. That part has been consistently good. However, the long wait and service hiccups have been consistent as well, which is what keeps me from going more often. Try it out, but not if you don't have a few hours to burn.

This may be a chain, but a great one that I happily frequent. Delicious pizza, a large and diverse craft beer selection and a great wait staff make this one of the best pizza places in Northern Kentucky. I have yet to encounter a pizza or menu item that I haven't liked. I am a huge fan of their hummus and pretzel appetizers and you can't go wrong with the Philosophers pie. The pizza always comes out with a deliciously crisp yet chewy crust and just the right ratio of base to toppings. The pizza menu is diverse and creative, don't be afraid to try one of their house specialty pies, everything is so good! Where the Mushroom truly shines in my opinion, is the craft beer selection. If you are a craft beer lover this place is a must visit. Close to or over 30 taps line the wall with the vast majority dedicated to craft beer. You can always find your favorite breweries, seasonals and often something quite special on tap. The prices are reasonable and the bar manager does a fantastic job at keeping the tap list fresh and fantastic. If you like pizza, beer and a light casual atmosphere make it a point to visit the Mellow Mushroom in Wilder, you will not leave disappointed - or hungry!

I am gluten intolerant and find it hard to find a pizza crust that satisfies the craving. The Veg Out gluten free pizza from Mellow Mushroom was FANTASTIC! Had I not known it was gluten free I would not have known. My boyfriend said he would gladly give up his Mighty Meaty on regular crust to share the Veg Out with me! I also love that all but the Thousand Island salad dressings are gluten free. I prefer the Greek salad, ask for the regular and have it split for two people! The price is a little high but I'm willing to pay for a great, gluten friendly dinner!

Had a great lunch here yesterday. My friend and I split a medium pizza with mushroom, black olive and bacon. This was the best pizza I have had here. Awesome. My wife had a gluten free pizza, she was pleased and I tried it, it was really good. I love having a local pizza place with a gluten free option.

I know it's a chain, but I have to tell you it was just great! The salads were so fresh. If you order bacon on your salad, you get actual real strips of bacon. It's the little things that excite me. The pizza was wonderful. It was cooked perfectly. The sauce to topping ratio, perfect. The flavor, even better. I'm pretty happy I've found a place, outside of the Cincinnati norm, to eat pizza. Yeah, I admit it, NOT a LaRosas fan at ALL. The service was great, and luckily we got there early enough to grab a table quickly. I'm happy, I can't wait to go back!

I've been to Mellow 10-15 times over the past several months and have always had a good experience. I love the beer selection and haven't been let down by the food although the pretzel sticks are my personal favorite. On a side note I absolutely love the decor, very cool place to hang.

As a MM fan from other cities (Asheville, NC & Knoxville, TN), I was so happy to hear one was opening up here. I went twice recently and had very good experiences both visits! The sandwich, salad and pizza choices are extensive and the portions are generous! The jerk chicken sandwich (got it in a wrap) was delicious. The smaller sized Greek salad is still big enough to share if you're having other food. The Hawaiian pizza was also very good, but so far my favorites are the Kosmic Karma (2 types of tomatoes & cheese, along with spinach and a pesto swirl) and the Gourmet White. As others have mentioned, the MM crust is very tasty! Wednesday night is Trivia night starting around 8, I think. Lots of competition in the first round (maybe 10+ tables) the Wed. I was there, but by the second round it was down to about 4. Turned out to be a great night as the wine prices were reasonable ($24 for a bottle of Sauvagion Blanc), the food was excellent, we had an awesome server (Ruth) and my friend Sandra and I placed 2nd in the trivia contest. The only negative I have is that there seems to be an issue with the seating. On my first visit, the host wanted to seat my husband and me at a tiny table in a corner of the bar area. We asked for another table and ended up in a nice booth in a much cozier location. On the second visit, I was first given a high top barely inside the front door. For a busy, cold night, that wasn't going to work. Re-seated to another high-top in the main bar area, even though there were booths open behind me.

Go for the pizza! I know, I know...everyone talks about how great the pizza and beer list is - but honestly I was underwhelmed by the beer list. Maybe I am just too much of a beer snob, but the list didn't live up to the hype for me and what interesting brews they did have were priced higher than I have seen when compared to other restaurants around the Cincy metro. I couldn't even compel myself to try a flight. They even had a flight consisting of domestics - yawn. I was actually so dismayed I ended up just ordering a pop. Luckily, the pizza did impress. The husband and I ordered two separate pies, mine a vegan with roasted red peppers and his with sausage and pepperoni. We both enjoyed these along with their in-house pretzels that were recommended. Our server even made sure to point out that butter was left off the vegan items. While that seems like a no brainer - it is amazing how things can be overlooked. All in all, I'm sure we will go back for the good pizza and service...we'll see about the beer.

Pros: Amazing pizza, from the toppings to the cheese to the crust. Can't wait to try more of their interesting specialty pizzas. Cons: Very crowded at peak times, they have a strange tendency to close up shop early if they are slow, and the wait times can be crazy since you have to wait to be seated then wait 45 minutes for your pizza, but damn, it's worth it. This chain was apparently dreamed up out in an old college town in Georgia, and now has become a successful chain. After eating there a handful of times since I have moved to Kentucky, I can see why. This has to be the best pizza I've ever had. The atmosphere inside is pretty cool, obviously has the stereotypical hippie vibe to go along with their mellow mushroom mascot fellow, but it works. I can somehow imagine this place to be a great place to be if you have the "munchies", but honestly if you just want to eat some great pizza that blows a lot of it's competition out of the water then look no further. The specialty pizzas are where it's at. I would recommend the Philosopher's Pie or the Mellowterranian pizza, you will not be disappointed. I absolutely love this place, but I'm still only going to give it four stars. "But Logan, you just gave it a glowing review! What kind of monster are you!?" I realize this! Look...it's the service. I don't require special treatment, but I have had a few experiences that lead me to believe this is a place they need to focus on putting some more effort into. I have been there twice before the place closed, only to be told that they are no longer making pizza. I'm sorry, but if you have hours listed online as "Open until 12AM" then keep the ovens hot until then. Especially since they are so close to Northern Kentucky University, one would think they would expect at least some traffic from the late night crowd. Not to mention it is kind of out of the way, it's a pain in the ass to drive 20 minutes to grab some food only to be turned away before closing time.

I was so so so so excited to try this - even though it was a second choice for dinner as the place we were going closed down. We saw the sign driving to another restaurant in Kentucky we enjoy and put this on the list to try. After looking it up, we realized they put tofu on pizza - which really really excited us as we love tofu. That and they have 32 beers on tap - including strongbow (yay draft cider! ) and have a good selection. So we ventured down to Wilder prior to picking up someone at the airport and sat down for a (quick) meal. I ordered a Strongbow, which came faster than any drink I have ever ordered. It was amazing. Not even when I am standing at a bar waiting for a drink has it been that fast. I loved them for that. The menu had many things to entice (and we were staring at other people's plates as we looked) but since we had to eat quick, we chose the Funky Q Chicken - a pizza with mozzarella, caramelized onions, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, and bbq chicken. We chose to do the chicken on half and the bbq tofu on the other half. We devoured the bbq tofu half (to say I loved it may not be enough) and ate a lot of the chicken half but took two pieces home which I am considering going to grab out of the fridge right now. The crust was perfect - I am usually a thin crust only person and really am reserved about pizzas with crust - they have to be great. I loved this crust - it was crispy on the outside, garlic/buttery, and soft on the inside. Yum! The ingredients atop were great, and I will be going back soon because I want to try that jerk tofu. I wish we could have tried more and I hope to update this review before I move out of Cincinnati. Their desserts looked AMAZING and I cannot wait to try the key lime pie.

I've been several times. Love the food, the atmosphere...had so so service while sitting at the bar. Sitting at a table, the server was excellent, the bar tenders always seem like they are annoyed. Will go back for sure, but will always get a table which stinks cuz we like to watch the games.

I have only come here for dinner (4 times and always on saturday night) and while the place was busy my wife and I have never waited more than ten minutes for a table and have only had very good to great service. Decor is fun and the food is above average. The bruchetta is my favorite app but the balsamic glaze to my palate is way too sweet so i've started to order the dish without it. the pizza's have interesting flavors my favorite being the redskin potato. I do ask for light oil on it though because i find that it helps protect the texture of their crust which is delicious. over all this is a fun and cheap place to get a good pie.

Pretty good. The atmosphere is a little weird for Wilder, KY. I feel like it would do better in a more college-y town, like the one I went to in Lexington. Still, the food was great and the service was good, so that's nice. (Side note: the caesar salad pizza was surprisingly awesome.)
We came ready for Some MM pizza with a Gift card in hand and were seated Quickly at a Hi top in the bar. Our very friendly Server Ernie explained the Menu and took our order. We ordered half Hawaiian half Mellow Mushroom Specialty Pizza. With a Dinner Salad! After about about a 20 minute wait Ernie stopped by to say our pizza had been burned and the manager would be buying us another pizza. Hey No problem Ernie free is for me! Another few minutes passed and Ernie delivered a Half Mystery and Mellow Mushroom Pizza. Not what we ordered. Poor Ernie Apologized and promised a small Hawaiian while we went ahead and enjoyed the wrong Pizza. Loving you Ernie Two Free Mellow Mushroom Pizza's! Another Few minutes passed and the Small Hawaiian showed up. Delicious as promised. We had no place to be and at our advanced age my wife and I enjoyed the relaxing wait in the pleasant atmosphere of the Mellow Mushroom Bar area. Ernie was upbeat and attentive and kept us Hydrated While we did some fun People watching. We were a little surprised we didn't see a manager but we had a great time and delightful delayed meal. Total Check $7.90. We tipped on what the check should have been. It wasn't Ernie's fault the Pizza was Wrong and burned! we'll be back to try and use our gift card again soon.

Mellow Mushroom has a commendable amount of accommodations for restaurant-goers. From what I'm to understand, it's vegan-friendly. (in Kentucky!) They also offer a great selection of beer on tap. Neither of those things are really interesting to me personally, but it seems to fit the bill for a large amount of people. And especially if you're WITH a large amount of people. And yeah, it's nothing but hipsters that work there. But the service has always been acceptable, and never dropped below what a corporate chain would deem acceptable. (And the same goes both ways) But I've never had a waiter or waitress that couldn't recommend at least ONE personal favorite, and they've yet to bring me a diet coke, when I asked for regular. So I guess by today's standards, that's a good thing. As for the atmosphere, the decor and menu font are about as far as it extends. At the core, it's still a business trying to provide a product in exchange for money, so it doesn't have a very intimate feel. Especially if you're at the bar clamoring for a drink, as it gets unbearably busy on weekends and evenings. (So don't even bother) But once you get your drink, and a slice of their pizza, you'll understand that the food justifies everything else. I mean, that's why you're there right? The food? 'Cause if not you'll hate this place. But if you're hungry, and can point to at least one thing at their surprisingly well put together menu, you'll be fine.

I was pleasantly surprised by this pizza joint... I call it a "joint" because it truly is a good representation of a psychedelic drug kind of place. With drinks like "dirty bong water" and a shroom decor, it has an interesting theme. The pizza was great. I am not a big pizza person... eating pizza more than 3 times a years is a lot for me... and even I would come back here. They have one of the biggest selections of toppings I have seen and even serve customized pizza by the slice for lunch.

Good god. I want to go there right now instead of writing this review. Being Vegan ain't easy in this town, but Mellow Mushroom helps. Maybe I haven't had cheese in so long that I've forgotten what it's like, but I don't know the difference when I'm destroying a large pizza with vegan cheese. The only negative is that it can get insanely busy during peak hours. You'd be wise to get that order in or show up early if you're planning on having dinner there. Also, they keep taking my money. I'm not sure what type of voodoo they practice, but whenever I have money I find that I end up spending it there. You win this round, Mellow Mushroom.

Incomplete. I sat at the bar and felt like I was just an inconvenience. Was there for at least 40 minutes, got a drink right away and asked for a menu (had to ask twice, the 2nd time met with disgust), did not even so much as get a hello, go to hell or anything in between. I was looking forward to trying the pizza but i guess they're not interested in selling any. The bar area was crowded but it wasn't slammed and the guy was acting like the line was 3 deep. I guess he was too busy complaining to his friends to actually do his job. One thing that struck me about the menu is that a plain medium cheese pizza is $12, then if you get any other toppings the cost jumps to nearly $20. Doesnt seem worth it. (Im not usually this harsh but based on the half assed service and how excited i was to try some pizza it just made for an awful experience and not that they really care about one customer, but i probably wont give it a second chance.)

Best Feature: The pizza. Dear jeebus, the pizza. Worst Feature: Weird 1st visit and mediocre service. I first heard of this location thanks two Yelpers, Tom S. and Carla G., who were so enthused about the food that I immediately threw that on my "gotta-go-there-ASAP" list (Thanks, guys!). So my boyfriend and I headed out this past week to see just how amazing this place was. **We had a weird first trip I have shared near the end of the review - word of advice: don't run out late Sunday night to this place without calling first. Otherwise, it's fantastic!! Despite our weird first visit, we were determined to check this place out so recently we ventured back in well within the hours of operation and got the opportunity to try their food. Upon entering, I loved all the different artwork and sculpture going on. It is definitely rather quirky but very inviting and enjoyable. We were seated very quickly and within about 5 minutes our waitress came to take our orders. We decided on the Philosopher's Pie and holy cow - we were not disappointed!! The food itself is AMAZING. The pizza we ordered tasted like a slice of cheesy heaven - it was almost a melt-in-your-mouth experience. It had steak, onion, several kinds of cheese, and comes with olives (although we ordered it sans olives). The dough is, I believe, gluten-free and definitely tastes different than any crust I've ever had before. It's absolutely divine. The selections they have are amazing!! They have calzones, hoagies, salads, and pizzas as well as appetizers/desserts available. The calzones are around $8-11 and you can customize your own if you'd like (basic cheese calzone w/ $.50 per ingredient added). You can also build your own pizza as well. The fact that they have dishes prepared as well as a build-your-own option for entrees is a definite plus. The prices are rather expensive - it's around $20-25 for a large pizza (18" - 8 pieces) and the lowest is about $13.95 for a cheese pizza (not bad!), but this is one place we've been to where we felt the price was almost justifiable given the quality of the food. The service was adequate; I felt our waitress was very inattentive for the first half of our dinner, but by the end she had picked up both in attitude and attentiveness. They also have a beer club which is awesome if you like trying out different beers. You can try up to 100 different kinds of beer! Pretty amazing selection. **Note: Our first visit did not go well. In fact, it really didn't go at all. We ventured out on a freezing cold Sunday night after checking their hours of operation to verify they were, indeed, open until 12:00 a.m. We rushed there and made it by 11:25 p.m. or so and were hoping for at least some carryout. When we approached the door, we found it locked but two patrons on the other side let us in. We were a bit unsure of what was going on, as we were certain we'd made sure that they were open and there were several tables seated inside as well. Upon entering, we were approached by a staff member within about a minute or so and he asked how he could help. When we asked about getting some pizza, we were told they'd actually closed early for the evening and we couldn't get anything except a beer. We left empty-handed and were really unimpressed with that experience. I wish they'd have something to alert a customer before they waste the time and gas to get out there. I'm only docking this one star because of the "meh" service and our disappointing first visit - other than those factors, it is flawless and definitely takes pizza to the next level. We will DEFINITELY be back here for more! It is amazing food and totally worth a visit (or five)!

Not fair! I added Mellow to Yelp, wanted the first review! Aside from that, I really enjoyed the visit! For the lady and myself it was around $40 for the whole meal, drinks and tip included - not too bad for this style of place The pizza is great, I love crust! I did think it was a bit crazy that pepperoni docked $1.25 more on the price of the pizza.... it was like 10 slices of pep... really?? The staff was helpful, and the beer was great! Be sure to snoop through the list, try something you don't know! Be sure to have an hour or more to kill when coming here, takes them 30-40 for the pizza in the oven, so just be aware! Probably addresses the earlier review about the time, open till 12:00a, but need to be in and ordered by at least 11:00p or ya may be out of luck!

Don't be affraid of the name... This place has Great service, Great atmosphere and even better Pizza!!! We had a Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza, the Pepperonis were cut thick and filled with Flavor! The Sausage was equally as good, it tasted like it was home made, not pre-frozen. We also had hummus and Pita bread as a appetizer, some of the best hummus I have had "Outstanding". I didn't have a salad but I was jealous of the person next to who did order one. It was very large and fresh with lots of toppings! Give this place a try, you won't be sorry! A+... I'll be back!

Everyone loves this place...I just didn't get it. I know people love to drink booze with their pizza, but for us folks who enjoy an ice cold Diet coke...I just don't see the pull. The pizza was only ok. I honestly think I like Papa Johns better. And, I know they're just trying to make it special, but I don't like to have the same type of Bacon on my burgers that I have on my pizza...it just doesn't taste right. So, I know that this joint has a following for being the happy burnout pizza joint...but, I just am not a fan. ...also, it's in the middle of freakin' nowhere!

Nice, new place with fine pizza and a massive beer menu. That sums up the positives of Mellow Mushroom in a nut shell. The pizza and beer are very pricey though and considering the family oreinted atmosphere it's a bit hard to swallow for the young bar hopper. This is the place you get a few beers and a pie with your friends, not have a night out. Still besides the price and less than hip atmosphere it's one of the few places to get a good slice of pizza around Northern Kentucky.

Welcome to the Mellow Mushroom! We were on our way to Cleveland for Thanksgiving and stopped for lunch so we did not partake in the plethora of beers they had to offer but we did ask our waitress what her favorite pizza was. "Kosmic Karma" she answered. We perused the menu and decided we would go with a pizza that had mushrooms. "Magical Mystery Tour" was our pick. When our pizza arrived Scott could not find a mushroom! Turns out the waitress brought us her favorite.... We ate an entire 14 inch pizza that we did not order, because it was DELICIOUS!! Make this your new pizza spot, you will not need a to go box. We spent $25, not including tip.

Funky decor, and huge selection of beer (they take it very seriously here, I believe there are over 100 brands and variations), and some delicious pizzas make this a great night out. My friends and I started with some apps (Bruchetta which was average, and Parmesan and Garlic Pretzels -- which were hot, doughy, and very tasty). We followed this with a Philosopher's Pie (a pizza without a red sauce but loaded with olive oil, garlic, cheese, olives, and more.) The crust was very heavy and delicious, and a couple of slices fill you up quick. No matter what you want on your pizza, Mellow Mushroom is sure to have it (Anchovies, Pancetta, Advocados, you can even have Tofu), plus they offer a Gluten Free pizza. Trust me, your hardest decision will be trying to determine what kind of pie to order. The decor of the place is amazing, with live music, an awesome patio (complete with a fountain on fire and space heaters), and nifty little "deadhead" touches around each corner. There is even a space for live music -- which was a really nice addition. The service was friendly and spot on, and the food arrived quickly and hot. The price was inline for what you would expect to pay at a nicer pizza establishment (such as Dewey's). Apps, Pizza, and Beer for four will run you about $15 a person. I guess I will be first to start the debate of Mellow Mushroom Vs Dewey's and give a slight edge to Dewey's since I find their crust a little sweeter and thinner (which I like) -- but decor, menu selection, and service I give to Mellow Mushroom. really, you can't go wrong with either. One thing Mellow Mushroom exceed at is desserts, featuring brownies and homemade cookies topped with Cincinnati's own Greater's Ice Cream -- which were rich, gooey, and delicious. Interesting enough, most Mellow Mushrooms offer Ben and Jerry's (that whole hippy vibe thing they have going fits in well with their decor) but I guess they thought "While in Cincinnati...." and I am glad they did. If there was a complaint, it would be that between the crowd, the live band, and the piped in music, the place can get a little loud -- and it can make it hard to hear your server or even your table mates. But the food, staff, price, and energy of the place certainly make it worth returning! So, throw on your bell bottoms, blast some Jerry Garcia, and enjoy some high times at Mellow Mushroom.

Alex pretty much captures everything I have to say about Mellow Mushroom in his review. They make a really good pizza, have a great drink selection and the atmosphere is not one of your typical pizza parlor. I did find it funny that its basically an acid trip and the restaurant was filled with kids while I was there. While I was there with my gf, we had a medium pepperoni pizza and an order of cheese bread. Both were delicious. Will have to try one of their specialty pies next time. They also serve freshly baked pretzels that I would like to try as well.

The pizza was so greasy that even the cheese and pizza sauce was dripping off this monstrosity. The crust was about as rubbery and as textural as an old gym shoe. After sampling the disgusting entity out of hunger, the dulcet tones of Paul McCartney soothed me during one of the many rushes to the commode that I experienced at this new restaurant. "Listen to What the Man Said" was playing and my rectum was singing a different tune! As a matter of fact, I found that I was not the only one who felt this way as the restroom was constantly busy with those with weary colons. After i painted the toilet seven shades of brown, i realized that the only thing that wasn't mellow was my burning diarrhea! I definitely felt used after this unpleasant trip. One thing i learned about grease covered pizza is that it makes for a natural laxative! This pizza was supposed to be mellow not an arse destroying enema!

Been to quite a few of the Mellow Mushroom locations and I will say Wilder's location is pretty nice with a very decorative setting The taste in food was pretty fantastic, however their portion sizes I found to be quite embarrassing/amusing. We started off with appetizers which were priced normally to slightly higher than average, however when they brought them out I was shocked at the actual serving that was in front of us. The spinach dip for instance, literally only was enough to put on 6 small pieces of bread (cracker sized mind you). It wasn't even enough to spread on the 8 pieces we were served. Their beer selection on tap is amazing! One of the largest selections in the tri-state for a restaurant. Again they struggled with portion size... As they state they are pints, which is fine, but needless to say the glasses looked smaller than a pint and when actually measured they were only 3/4 of a pint. Wouldn't have been much of an issue had they not been $5 a glass. Just leaves you feeling a bit embarrassed when your company you took out to dinner stares at you with faces of confusion wondering if this is it or where the rest of the portion is. As for the pizza, this was and is the gem of dinner. They have great selections and they actually serve you the honest size they advertise. We had the Mighty Meaty & Kosmic Karma, they were absolutely delicious and I can honestly say our party all enjoyed and were satisfied with this part of the meal. Overall we were all pretty displeased with our dinner as the service was below par, and the portion size of everything in the restaurant other than the pizza itself was ridiculous. Bottom line, provide what you advertise, and if you can't, change your advertisement so people know what to expect. Wilder's location is 2 stars lower than the other MM locations I have been to. Sadly displeased with one of my favorite pizza joints.

I normally love Mellow Mushroom in other towns, however the Mellow Mushroom in hometown area is pretty disappointing. I talked 2 friends into dining there the day after Christmas around 4 PM. We waited several minutes at the host stand for anyone to come seat us and then waited for service once seated. The server did not check back once the food was served and it took forever to get our bill. I enjoyed my food, as I always do, but I think my dining companions are probably never going back there again because of the poor service.

So glad Mellow Mushroom came to the Cincinnati area! It can be very difficult to find both good food and good beer. MM fits the bill. It only opened this last Monday and we've already been to lunch there twice. We joined the Beer Club and look forward to reaching the 100 different beer mark there. Favorite pizza so far? The Philosopher's Pie. Enjoyed the mushroom club hoagie too, but the french bread was so overstuffed that I had to eat the top few layers of sprouts and such before I actually take a bite of the sandwich. Probably should try it on wheat bread next time. Friendly staff (especially at the bar) who were always checking on us.

We absolutely LOVE Mellow Mushroom. There are very few pizza options out there for vegans, so it's nice to have them in town now. The pizza is fantastic every time, and we've been going pretty often lately. The place is always jammed packed, but we normally call in a takeout order so that's never been a problem. If you're looking for great pizza, a good atmosphere, and lots of options, then this is your place!

My boyfriend and I decided to eat here one lazy Sunday. We were immediately seated and the waiter promptly took our order. We were enjoying the atmosphere and everything was going smoothly until a table of 16 was seated next to us (half of which were children). 5 minutes later a couple with 2 crying, kicking children were seated directly behind us. The food was delicious but we only ate 1 piece of pizza each before practically running out of the restaurant due to the pure insanity around us. Next time we'll ask to be seated somewhere in a corner away from the madness!!

There is always a line, but the BBQ tofu pizza with the BBQ sauce is worth the wait. The veggie friendly hoagies are also delicious.

I've have had MM 3 times and I am a huge pizza fan. The pizza is not good here, it's sloppy and reminds me of Domino's with hand tossed dough. The first time we went I ordered a specialty pizza that included bacon and the bacon was full of fat and hardly edible. The prices are incredibly high for what you get. If you go I suggest getting a pizza with pepperoni or sausage. Stay away from the specialty pizzas because they are not worth it. They do have a very good beer selection that's about all I can say about this place. If you want to go with friends and have a few beers then MM is fine but if you want good specialty pizza I suggest locating the nearest Dewey's.

This place has delicious pizza!!! Whether you like red, white, or no sauce, you can find a tasty pizza. Dewey's who?!

This place was high on flavor. Had the steak and cheese Hoagy. Also tasted the Mellowterranean Calzone and the Maui Wowie pizza. The wait for our food is the only reason this was not all 5 stars. Our server was sweet and served us well. Unfortunately we were in a hurry and it took close to 45 minutes (and I am being nice) to get our food. Not sure what the problem was cause there were a half dozen kids in the kitchen??? Anyway we went there for the food and it was great! We will be coming back for the wonderful options to choose from. Must eventually try them all!

I was excited when I read about this place - seemed neat, however, I was let down. The diverse menu drew me in however, if you want good unique pizza go to Deweys. Really. Their salads are to die for as well. My issues with Mellow Mushroom: no lunch menu, my friend got a salad that ended up being $12 after adding toppings and I wanted to try the gluten free pizza and was forced to get a medium instead of a small. Also, the gluten free crust cost more than the regular and my server didn't tell me that. To top it off, the crust isn't homemade!!! I guess that is why I was limited to a medium size... tasted like cardboard or old stale bread. My pizza was $22!!!! NO FREAKIN' JOKE!!! Went out for a quick lunch with a friend and was expecting to pay around $10 and paid $22 for a pizza???????? NEVER AGAIN. Our server was slow, we were there over an hour and I was late getting back to work. The atmosphere was clean (but they are new) however the value, service, and food doesn't even rank

Their pizza is adventurous and they have good beer choices. I didn't give a full five stars because it is a little pricey for pizza, in my opinion, and the last pizza I had from here, I did not like. However, this place is FUN! The atmosphere is great... Perfect for a drink after work, a Saturday night, or your typical family outing. It is definitely a good pizza joint that isn't boring by any means and despite my choice last time, their pizza is good.

We had a large group of family eat here and we were served quickly. They had an exceptional beef menu and a very large menu. We had two pies, and we made each half a different specialty pizza. We were able to try four different pizzas this way, and each one was excellent. Will come again when back in the area.

I just went to this place for the first time. The food was distinct and very delicious. The theme of the place and the food was hilarious and fun. And you just have to try their mixed drink, Dirty Bong Water.

I am not only a pizza snob but I hate chain restaurants. "Mellow Mushroom" is the only chain-pizza place that I think its just fantastic. I would eat here even if I was in NY. Its not NY-style pizza but as its own entity its just great. I love the Bayou Bleu and the BBQ Chicken but regular styles are good too. Only thing I disliked was on the "Holy Shiitake" pizza, I think its a great pizza but the aioli on top was kinda gross. Just order the "Holy Shiitake" without Aioli and it'll rule.

My girlfriends and I came in and we each got our own small pizzas. The pizza is pretty freaking awesome. I loved the olive oil and garlic sauce on the Thai Dye pizza, and the crust was perfect. The price tag on my bill was crazy high for one person though. We're talking 20 something dollars for a small pie and one beer. The service was good and even though the pizza comes with a high price tag, this will probably not keep me from coming back.

We stopped by to try out Mellow Mushroom and were very let down. We were asked to wait while they cleaned a table despite more than half of the restaurant being empty. The host didn't just clean the one table, but instead cleaned a whole section before seating us. During this time another host came up and sat the larger party behind us immediately. The server was grumpy and crass as well. With the abundance of great pizza places around the area, we will not be giving MM a second shot.

The pizza and atmosphere are awesome. The place is usually very crowded normally though. This location for some reason has better pizza than the west Chester location and better than the one I visited in Pigeon Forge. Still one of my favourite places but they've become inconsistent in how good they are.

Previously, I gave a good review to Mellow Mushroom's West Chester location ( yelp.com/biz/mellow-mush… ) but me and about half a dozen friends visited the Wilder location over the weekend to much satisfaction. This location is conveniently located right off I-275 at the Wilder exit, right down the road from Town and Country, The Great Escape, Longnecks and all of that. This location is older than the one in West Chester, and it seemed smaller to me. For starters, I got the salted pretzels with beer cheese. They were hot, delicious, and the beer cheese- probably the best I've ever had. My buddy ordered the hummus and pita, amazing as well. We ended up sharing both. This time around, I did get the Maui Wowie and it's probably my favorite pizza there thus far (for only being there twice- I'll have to explore options on future visits!) The bill with appetizers, food and tip? Right around $25, kind of expensive but it was well worth every penny. If you haven't been I definitely recommend that you check it out.

After 50 reviews, I am sure you can tell, people like the place. I am just throwing my 2 cents. I liked it, it is a little on the pricey side and similar to Dewey's Pizza. I would recommend it.

Since my last excursion, I was pleasantly surprised to have not only great (and fast) service, but our food was delicious. I'm not sure if they got new management or wait staff or what but Mellow Mushroom has really turned it around. On my last (happy, life changing in the I-no-longer-hate-this-pizza-place way) visit, my friend, son, and I ordered salad and a pizza, which were all amazing. My son got double cheese (always a classic), and the adults had the Mighty Meaty, which is just so delicious. That crust is just wonderful, whether you get the gluten free or regular. So good. The beer selection is also quite good. Very happy turnaround, will be back...tonight actually...

Based my own long personal history with Mellow Mushroom, the national success of this Atlanta-based chain is astonishing to me. I grew up in Georgia, and I attended college in Atlanta in the mid-to-late-'80s. One year a "new" pizza place, Mellow Mushroom, started delivering on campus. (I only later learned that MM had started over in Midtown Atlanta by some hippies back in 1974, and that this "new" store was only its second or third location.) MM's two delivery guys in the dorms were a taciturn skinhead punk rock guy and a Rastafarian with long dreadlocks. (It's a cliche, but the latter guy always seemed to be in a ganja haze.) These two guys didn't seem to reflect a great business model, but the pizza they brought to our dorm rooms was A-OK, if a bit short of knocking it out of the park. Then a buddy and I decided to check out the MM location on LaVista Road north of campus. A total dump, but an endearing one. While tossing our pie, the pizza baker dropped the dough on the floor. The guy gave us under-agers free beers for our troubles, though. I returned to Atlanta for a job in the '90s and was surprised to see that Mellow Mushroom had expanded to several rather slick locations in the Atlanta area. Still serving a quality pizza. I moved out of Georgia in 1995 and didn't really think about Mellow Mushroom for years after that. It was only about ten years later, while we were living on the Gulf Coast, that I realized that MM had expanded to 25 or 30 states!! This seemed impossible for a little restaurant that began in 1974 and had only expanded to two or three very unpromising, sketchy stores more than a decade after that. Anyway, the Cinci-area Mellow Mushroom is like a gigantic, slick, Disney-fied version of the little pizza joints I remember from Atlanta. The hippie mushroom imagery is now cartoonish, as if the chain is trying to market psilocybin to children, a la Joe Camel. (The scuzzy MM I remember from the '80s wasn't very child-friendly, period.) There is now a huge draft beer list, bigger and better than all but a few in town. There are also worthwhile salads, better than those at any local pizza joint with the possible exception of Dewey's. And the pizza is still very solid, with a sturdy, chewy crust, quality toppings, and better than average cheese. If it falls quite a bit short of the best pizza you've ever had, such as in NYC or some-such, and it probably does, then it doesn't take very much for it to qualify as one of the very best pizzas in the Cinci area. And it does. UPDATE (03/2014): Neither of the last couple of pizzas we've had at MM have been "one of the very best pizzas in the Cinci area": The crust has been quite soggy and spongy, although everything else has been pretty solid. But another one of these soggy pizzas will force a downgrade.

Oh pizza, why must I love you so and you do so many bad things to me? Mellow Mushroom is an example of a chain that works for me. Sure, there are dozens of other ones all over the country that share the name, but each location is made to be different. I really love MM's dedication to interesting pizzas and GOOD beer. Really, get the mug club card, it's worth it. The 'za itself at the MM is pretty great. I love the crust and the specialty pizzas are pretty great. Sure, it's not the most inventive option out there, but if you're looking for a great place to hang out or eat before/after seeing a movie you can't go wrong.

Meh is right. I had been hearing about Mellow Mushroom for a few years now, but had not had the chance to try it. My husband and I had a date night, and we also had a $10 coupon for MM. I cannot have gluten, and after hearing about MM's GF pizza, I was even more curious to try it out. I checked out the GF pizza menu online. They tout it pretty much like it's something great. And while I am soooo grateful to the restaurants that offer this option, I think if you're going to act like it's this great thing, it should be great! After we were seated, the server came to the table after a few minutes with a standard greeting. I let her know I couldn't have gluten. I asked about a few of the appetizers, she had to ask the kitchen. I never expect a server to know every ingredient, but as the night went on, I saw that she knew really nothing about gluten free options. It took us a while to decide what we wanted. We had never been there and I have a gluten allergy, so I have to be careful. Within about ten minutes, she came back five to six times, not offering suggestions or menu information, just to ask if we were ready. I almost feel like she was just trying to get us in and out as quickly as possible. Idk but it was uncomfortable. I was amazed at the ignorance about gluten at a place that touts a GF menu, with a tagline that says, "you are no longer a 2nd class citizen." The server didn't even know what gluten was, I had to tell her. Then, I wanted to try the "maui wowie" style pizza, and I was questioning the jerk chicken that's on it. She asked her manager. The manager came out, and sat down next to me like he was my best friend. Now, I get that it's a "mellow" casual place, but it was a little awkward. Then he said that the jerk chicken sauce had tomato paste & caramel coloring, and so he wasn't sure if it was gf. While a lot of processed stuff does have hidden gluten in it, I don't think he really knew what he was looking for either in the ingredients. And in any instance in which I was wondering about ingredients, they had to check the label....why wouldn't a place with a GF menu have an allergy info sheet like every other restaurant? It was just discouraging because ingesting gluten is a matter of life and at least a week of misery for me. And I'm not even Celiac. I just feel like they were definitely not knowledgeable about the food and ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction for someone. We got the stuffed mushroom as an appetizer. It was ONE mushroom for $8. This is just a little outrageous....two for $8 would still be expensive but more understandable. The cap was about 3 inches in diameter. It was delicious, I will say that, but $8 for one mushroom and some spring mix? Definitely too steep. And I am one who is willing to pay more for good food, but that is not worth it. So, about my gf pizza.....not so great. First of all, since I was unsure about a lot of the ingredients offered, I just got a cheese pizza with roasted red peppers, bacon and a pesto swirl. The gf pizza is a 12 inch pie. The menu said that they were priced like the regular medium sized pizzas, but this was not the case when I got the bill. Overall, I paid $20 for a medium pizza with two toppings and a pesto swirl. And the gf crust is not very good. It's the sticky rice flour type, although it was grainy, so better than some rice flour types I have had. Still not great. And the toppings were scarce for the price of them. So, due to the mediocre service, and just okay food (my husband got a hoagie and said it was "okay" as well) that was very expensive, we won't be back. I can get a gf pizza with delicious crust and tons of toppings that's way better for half the price at dominos or donatos. Not impressed.
Good food, great service and decent beer selection. Been here a few times and would not hesitate to go back again.

Typical great Mellow Mushroom food - fresh ingredients, pizza with a yummy chewy crust. The 'build your own' salad can easily become pricey if you get more than a couple of add-on ingredients. Loud '60's music, chain restaurant ambience (we were there at noon on a week day).

"What are you!!!?" I shouted out the window of my rental car on a recent trip to Ohio. The graphic design and signage would have me believe its some kind of Cirque show. Yet, including the words "pizza baker" makes me think you're some kind of chucky cheese red headed stepchild that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. I didn't care - I had to find out. Hey - it's a pizza place with middle of the road quality and strange interior design. Alright then. Mystery solved. Moving on....

This place rocks! The severs are always great and so is the food. They recommend you split pizzas. From my experience the buffalo chicken pizza and Caesar salad pizza is a great combo! Definitely my favorite pizza joint in NKY.

I had heard the cries of joy. Everyone who spoke of eating at Mellow Mushroom did with passion. They "loved this place." I "had to try it." The pizza was "soooooo good." Who am I to resist endorsements like that. My gal and I went off to Wilder, KY to find this place. Immediately I was a bit doubtful. Mellow Mushroom is located in a business park filled with terrible chain restaurants. This is where this shining beacon of pizza lies? But then, there it was, bright yellow against the other's dull grays and whites. Mellow Mushroom does indeed stand out. There are bright signs, murals of its mushroom mascot painted on the building and half a VW bus built into the side of the wall. Ok, I was interested. Inside is even crazier with giant plastic mushrooms all around and crazy decorations throughout. Of course, this was all topped off by kids running everywhere with bored parents trying barely to contain them. The whole place kind of felt like a family-friendly acid trip. Of course, these themed decorations come with a price ... and that's the price. This is not cheap pizza. It's not cheap anything, actually. Everything a little more overpriced than it probably should be. However, you do pay for quality. The pizza is fresh and delicious. This isn't your NY style overly-sauce bites, but fresh cheese and veggies on top of crust. We got the Photosphere's Pie and it was damn good. (That is another thing. The names of food in this place are awful ... Ok, some are kind of amusing, like a drink named Dirty Bong Water, but others, like the Hippy Dippy, I don't think I could say out loud without sounding like an idiot. I'd have to just awkwardly point and that, "That. I'd like that.") They also have a killer beer selection here, and I mean killer. You can actually see the giant refrigerated section in the back through a glass window where they keep everything on tap. They carry a lot of local brews too, which was a nice touch. The only thing we were warned about is that they only have about half the beers on their menu at any time. That seemed a little strange to me, but OK. Overall, I liked this place, despite its chainy-like flaws. I'm going back and forth between three and four stars, but I'm going to rate higher - if only because Wilder, KY needs more weirdness in it's life.

I've been here a couple of times, both for lunch and dinner. Lunch is by far the winner. Each time I order the Philosopher's Pie. I haven't ventured to anything else because this specialty pizza is delicious: white sauce on soft, golden crust, cheese, feta, steak, Portobello mushrooms, artichokes, and olives. It has been consistently delicious. A large was enough to feed three of us, I'd recommend a medium for two. The difference in my dining experiences has been the service. Lunch: Dined around 12:30pm. Service was prompt and friendly. Our drinks never ran dry, and the food arrived within 15 minutes. All of this when the restaurant was somewhat busy. Dinner: Dined around 5:30pm. There were a few customers when we arrived, more filtered in after we placed our order. The wait for the pizza was a bit too long: closer to 30 minutes. My dining companions were mentioning, "Oh, it smells really good. I wish the pizza would arrive!" At this point, it was equally busy as my lunch experience, so I'm not sure what slowed down the kitchen. The server was friendly but not attentive. For a table of three, she dropped off three plates and two rolls of silverware. Later, she refilled my father's drink, but made no offer to my mother or I, who has equally empty cups. In fact, our drinks weren't refilled the entire night. The next time we saw our server was when she dropped off the check. When the pizza finally arrived, the food runner said, "Alright ladies, here's the Philospher's Pie..." My father was sitting on the aisle, and at 6'3", 275 lbs, and a bright red Paul Teutul mustache, he would make for a pretty hideous woman. While the food is consistently good, I'll be returning for lunch here rather than dinner. I'm not a big fan of the Hippie decor, but aside from the dazed mushroom mascot, the restaurant is clean with industrial furnishings, similar to Dewey's. I'd consider returning for dinner if: 1.) The waitstaff improves upon their attention to detail. 2.) The kitchen turn around time improves for dinner service. If they can handle the same amount of customers at lunchtime, it may be time to switch up the staff for dinner.

First let me say the pizza is excellent. Crust is one of the best I've had - anywhere. Upon entering, we were promptly seated in the bar area. The place was not busy at all. Probably less than twenty customers in the entire restaurant. Maybe it's just me but I think it's a courtesy to ask customers if they mind sitting in the bar area when they have teenagers with them, or minors in general. Bear in mind, I'm not opposed to alcohol or sitting in the bar in general. I just think it's restaurant etiquette. Well after we moved, the manager came to our table and informed us that they burned our pizza. He comped the meal and apologized. OK. That was the right thing to do and I commend him for doing so personally. Our server was professional and friendly. The place in general and the restrooms were clean. I can recommend this place as a cut above the national and one local chain pizza restaurant .

Visited Mellow Mushroom in Wilder after an afternoon at nearby wineries in Northern Kentucky. We had to wait about an hour for table on busy Saturday night. They have a variety of interesting pizzas - our group went with the Jerk Chicken pizza - liked the mixture - Jerk chicken, onions, mushrooms, green peppers and pineapple all grilled together. Topped with pesto mayo, Roma tomatoes, spinach and feta. Only negative is it took about an hour to receive our pizza after ordering, we were so hungry. If you're in the Wilder area stop by and enjoy some good pizza.

I got the house pizza which is similar to a supreme pizza which I loved. They had a lot of other great sounding pizzas that have clever names with mellow mushroom incorporated in the name. They have a good amount of beer on draft that not most places do which was great! I have noticed these popping up more and more so they must be doing something right. I will be returning to try other pizzas and their calzones sounded amazing. A little on the pricey side when other pizza places have been nothing but lowering prices but it is delicious and will for sure fill you up! Worth a try if you like pizza and beer!

I had just had pizza so I opted for two appetizers. (One was free since Kate followed them on twitter.) My first one was the hummus with pita and the second brushetta. I didn't care for the hummus at all. Hummus is always hit or miss with me, but this one was a huge miss. It was dry and bland, kinda weird crumbly texture. I took one bite and that was it. The brushetta on the other hand was awesome! I could eat that everyday. It was topped with tomato, feta, cilantro, and a thick balsamic glaze. The crostinis were good, but it was amazing when I took the top off and used the pita from the hummus as a scoop. Seriously one of the best appetizers I've had in a while. I ate them all! Lauren just got pretzel dippers meal. The pretzels were good and the apple slices are always a win with kids meals. Nothing super exciting, but it did its job. Kate and Ali shared a pizza. I think it was 1/2 cheese, 1/2 pineapple and ham. They really do have awesome cheese. I remember one that had pesto and balsamic and ricotta- it was crazy good. I'm glad this place is so close to my house. The beer selection is large, and the food is good. Worth the trip out to WIlder to eat.

Mellow Mushroom is such a cool place! I love pizza (who doesn't) but I'm not into the "normal" pizza. I want my pizza to wow me, make me say "holy moly I didn't know I could get that on pizza." Sure you can get the "normal" pizzas like cheese, pepperoni but then you can choose from the pizzas that aren't that normal. By far my favorite pizza that you can get from Mellow is Holy Shiitake, of course a place with mushroom in the name has to have a bomb mushroom pizza! It has an incredible white sauce on top that is very hard to explain (you just have to try it). I have also had the Thai Dye pizza. Of course it has tons of Thai flavor but the really yummy part is the curry chicken all over the top! And my third favorite pizza from Mellow is the Maui Wowie. It is an awesome spin on a ham and pineapple pizza, the spin is it has jerk chicken! Oh my its so good! Just don't forget the beer blends they have, I suggest the black and brown. Enjoy!

Soooo yummy! I love the Maui Wowie and the white pizza. The hummus and Greek salad are awesome too. Great place for everyone!

What a groovy pkace ;). My server Lee was polite and very helpful with suggestions. You can substitute like for like, protein for protein, veggie for veggie on their specialty pies. They have a great selection of draft beers. I got a beer flight... $10 and hop-i-licious. My veggie was fantastic and the other half house combo was even better.

This place has the best salad with the enlightened salad! Their other food is yummy too. The wait staff is consistently great, every time that I come in here. I've been in here like 5-6 times already and every time, I've been impressed with the staff's professionalism and courtesy. I can say that I'll DEFINITELY be back here, because of the food and the staff!

The regular pizza was ok but the gluten free pizza was disgusting. Probably the worst I have ever had. Price was extremely high for the quality of food we ordered. $90 for two pizzas, two salads, a bowl of soup and an appetizer plus four drinks. The waiter seemed like he was high and could barely function. Very bizarre experience.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

(5)Heather W.

(5)Weston E.
My waiter must have been magic because after he took my order he disappeared and I never saw him again until it was time for the check...

good food! good service! great beer selection!

(4)Kevin H.
(4)Deborah B.

(4)Lauren M.
(4)Sarah S.
The service was good but the prices are high. Thumbs up for having gluten free crust but they dont tell u it only comes in med or large until u get the bill. They took it off the bill because it didn't arrive until 10 mins after everyone else's food. Wait for the crowd to die down.
(3)Sarah F.
(4)Amanda V.
(5)Stephen G.
(4)Greg O.
(4)Patricia L.
(3)Jon C.

(5)S W.
(5)Jodi F.
(5)T R.
I've been to Mellow 10-15 times over the past several months and have always had a good experience. I love the beer selection and haven't been let down by the food although the pretzel sticks are my personal favorite. On a side note I absolutely love the decor, very cool place to hang.
(4)Cathy R.

Very cool place ! Great food and Beer . Good family atmosphere too

Pretty good. The atmosphere is a little weird for Wilder, KY. I feel like it would do better in a more college-y town, like the one I went to in Lexington. Still, the food was great and the service was good, so that's nice. (Side note: the caesar salad pizza was surprisingly awesome.)

I always thought of Mellow Mushroom as more of a beach-town kind of establishment, since I'd only ever seen them at vacation hamlets, so I was surprised when one popped up seemingly out of nowhere in Wilder. Genuinely pleased it did, though, because their pizza is pretty amazing for what's really, let's be honest here, a corporate chain. Putting stoner cartoon shrooms all over everything and naming menu items after drugs does not a "local establishment" make, unfortunately. However, their pizza is a great combination of chewy and crispy with a damn near perfect crust. The Mighty Meaty is my personal favorite with its selection of six different meat toppings, followed closely by the Magical Mystery, swirled with luscious pesto and sprinkled with feta cheese. Their salads are pretty delicious as well, as far as salads go, topped with big shavings of fresh parmesan. MM's selection of beer on tap is pretty much off the chain--they have a huge selection of local favorites and seasonal delights. My fiancé the beer snob especially enjoys getting his Stone Arrogant Bastard IPA in a majestic, heavy glass goblet. I don't really know what its purpose is, but it definitely looks cool. The main drawback of MM is the atmosphere, the main dining room is extremely hectic and vaguely reminiscent of Chuck E Cheese's for grownup potheads, which would probably be a little overwhelming if you actually were stoned. Service has been all right most of the times we've been--could be better but we've definitely had way worse. For now, Mellow Mushroom is the closest thing we've got to a local beer & pizza spot, so until another one opens, right now it's the next best thing.

Absolutely delicious. I was so excited to hear they put one right off the highway in Wilder because it has always been one of my favorite chains to be sure to stop at whenever I'm in the south.

(5)Mike D.

(4)Paul B.
(4)T. J.
(5)Scott L.

We went to Mellow Mushroom for my wiifes cousins birthday. The Shitake Mushroom sub was far out, man! Very,Very Good!!!! Rock On Mellow Mushoom!
(4)Sean R.
(3)Kimberly P.

(4)Clint S.
(4)Greg K.

Pizza is good, nice different variety. Atmosphere is geared to family So lots of screaming kids. Pizza is good.
(3)Crystal R.
(2)Carla G.
(4)Meg V.
(5)Angela W.
(3)Robin H.
There is always a line, but the BBQ tofu pizza with the BBQ sauce is worth the wait. The veggie friendly hoagies are also delicious.
(4)Billy S.
(1)Heather R.
This place has delicious pizza!!! Whether you like red, white, or no sauce, you can find a tasty pizza. Dewey's who?!
(5)Chuck J.
(4)Amy K.
(1)Jessica V.
(4)Kris S.
We had a large group of family eat here and we were served quickly. They had an exceptional beef menu and a very large menu. We had two pies, and we made each half a different specialty pizza. We were able to try four different pizzas this way, and each one was excellent. Will come again when back in the area.
(3)James P.
I just went to this place for the first time. The food was distinct and very delicious. The theme of the place and the food was hilarious and fun. And you just have to try their mixed drink, Dirty Bong Water.
(5)Mike K.
(5)Sarah A.
The pizza is pretty good. The environment is fun and quirky. They have awesome toppings to choose from.. Just be prepared to spend your whole paycheck.
(4)Dawn B.
(4)Logan C.
(1)Channon S.
The pizza and atmosphere are awesome. The place is usually very crowded normally though. This location for some reason has better pizza than the west Chester location and better than the one I visited in Pigeon Forge. Still one of my favourite places but they've become inconsistent in how good they are.
(3)Rose P.
Pizza crust was good on mighty meat.....place seems a little pricey.
(3)Andrew H.
(4)Tony S.
After 50 reviews, I am sure you can tell, people like the place. I am just throwing my 2 cents. I liked it, it is a little on the pricey side and similar to Dewey's Pizza. I would recommend it.
(4)Rod J.
Excellent pizza and beer selection here!
(4)Adrian C.

We had to stop in to see what all the fuss was. Every time we attempted to visit the place was so packed that we drove off trying to give the newness to wear off. All the staff was super friendly. Our server did a great job. I read the Yelp reviews and FB suggestions from recent visits by friends. My best choice would be the Kosmic Karma. My fiancé chose th Philosophers Pie. Since it would be 30 minute wait to prepare - we ordered the Artichoke dip. The dip and bread arrived within 5 minutes but sort wish they would have taken 5 more minutes to get the bread warm. The dip was ok but nothing great. The Kosmic Karma was pretty heavy on the toppings which was a bit too much for me. The crust was really good. We decided to try each others. Once I removed the olives, mushroom, and meat - The Philosophers pie was really good. So we are left feeling like the food was ok, but wished we hadn't spent $40 plus the tip on a Sunday lunch for something that wasn't great. We will come back and try another type next time - maybe a calzone.
