No trip to Keeneland Race Course is complete without stopping here for donuts, no matter the time of day. Large display cases show off a vast variety of delicious choices. Located in a newer gas station, there is still a bit of old country charm to the vibe-- they sell Candleberry candles, one of my fave brands. Everything here is quality. I truly love the bacon-maple donut, I really think I could eat about a dozen of them if no one would find out and I wouldn't get fat. They are so good, they are practically juicy, they will melt in your mouth and stick to the napkin and your fingers. Plentiful little chunks of bacon are stuck to maple sugar frosting, smeared onto a classic plain donut...the fluffy kind. The best. Free donut with fuel purchase is a plus.

Anytime I'm out between Lexington/Versailles, I'll make sure to stop and get Joe some cinnamon twists. It's the only place that I can find them and he says they're amazing. All of their doughnuts are amazing, really. They're over sized and overstuffed with delicious fillings. The prices are pretty reasonable and the store smells like fresh baked goods whenever you walk in. They also have hand scooped ice cream and tend to offer some unique flavors. So, it's always worth your time to stop in and see what's behind the counter. You'll be glad you did.

Two words: Heck. Yes. I pass Doughdaddy's all the time on my way to work, and it took me almost a year to finally stop in. I went in to grab an assorted dozen for everyone at my work (for $9.99!), and I was not disappointed. They have both yeast and cake doughnuts, and they even had a huge selection at 6:00 at night! They were absolutely delicious- so light, and each of the various toppings and glazes were great! I will definitely be back.

This place gained some serious recognition when the New York Times mentioned it in its article about Kentucky's Doughnut Trail. Having eaten at nearly all of the doughnut shops on the trail, I think this one comes in near the bottom of the list. Don't get me wrong--the doughnuts are good. My parents love them, and I know Doughdaddy's has a loyal fan base. The doughnuts are, however, sub-par relative to local establishments like Spalding's and North Lime. Doughdaddy's strength is its excellent variety. Unfortunately it seems that quality suffers as a result of the focus on variety. But if you're on the Bluegrass Parkway near Lexington, Doughdaddy's is super convenient and worth the pit stop.

Donuts are AMAZING!!!! Devils food cake donuts are my favorite! But get there early to get the good ones! Place gets packed and horrible parking. It's a gas station so you have all that traffic also. But it's a must if you LOVE donuts !!

I stopped here this morning with the boyfriend. We each got a couple different doughnuts, my first was the raspberry jelly filled. It was a little dry and a little more like a glazed bread than doughnut texture. Boyfriend had a blueberry cake doughnut and said it okay. Next we both had Carmel filled long johns. Mine was chewy and not cooked the whole way through. Overall it was a disappointing trip into Versailles and we wish we had just stopped at dunkin.

Visiting Lexington from NYC and I'm a donut snob, admittedly. These are probably some of the best I've ever had. No joke, they brought me out a warm glazed donut and it just melted in my mouth. I would ship these to New York if I could. Go here

Only 3 words. Love this place! Great donuts and great service.

So you wanna donut but need your cash for gas? No worries - DoughDaddy's got you covered! A huge bakery inside a gas station with a clever promise of a free donut with fill up! Not a bad idea! They have a great selection and the donuts were pretty damn good (much better than DD in my humble opinion). I didn't actually buy any gas, but I certainly did get me some glazed ones for the road out the the Bourbon Trail! Get Em!

My boyfriend lives in Lexington and on my way out of town I stop at Doughdaddy's more times than I care to admit. My favorite is the sour cream doughnut because it's cake based. Overall, the service has been great... However, when I stopped in last night, the young guy who waited on us at the doughnut counter wasn't friendly AT ALL, and the customer behind me waiting to pay commented he wasn't very friendly to her either. I've never seen him there before (but I've never stopped at night) and given I've been many times before and the service has been great I don't want to give them 3 stars. I'll just make a point to not stop in the evenings.

Don't let the fact that this doughnut shop is attached to a BP gas station fool you-- it's an independently owned and operated shop that's been a Versailles tradition for ages. The doughnuts are handmade and fried up eight times a day (5, 8, 11, and 2 am AND pm...) which, in the world of doughnuts, makes an enormous difference in terms of tastiness. They also have a huge variety of donuts, long johns, etc, etc. I have to give the Doughdaddy's folks props for going local-- their coffee is from Lexington Tea and Coffee, and they have their own blend too. They sell locally made Valentine's Ice Cream, hand scooped or by the pint, to go. There's an entire aisle of Kentucky proud stuff, jams, jellies, Weisenberger Mills products, etc, and a cold case of Kenny's Cheeses. I'm not a huge doughnut person, but even I could not resist a cup of coffee and a Doughdaddy's doughnut. They're very fresh and not overly heavy or greasy. If you have ANY reason to be in the area, stop by! Also, very random, but they have free wi-fi...

These are the best doughnuts EVER! They taste so fresh. This is exactly what I think a doughnut should taste like. They come out fresh every couple of hours so you don't have to worry about getting a stale doughnut. And they re-heat very well too :) The location is beautiful too, both inside and out. Convenient parking and no steps to get in the front door. Nothing like a fresh hot doughnut and they have great coffee too!!

I was visiting my girlfriend's family in Versailles and wanted to surprise them with a treat. I was about to make a 30+ minute round-trip to Lexington to pick up some North Lime doughnuts (I love them too), but then I saw a really good review of Doughdaddy's, just a quarter-mile away from the house. "Don't let the gas station fool you" is the best advice for this place. We picked up two dozen (24) doughnuts in assorted and awesome flavors. They even have a maple bacon doughnut that can contend against the best I've had elsewhere (i.e. Nords, or High Five's doughnut at Against the Grain in Louisville). The best part was the price. Take whatever you thought you'd pay for two dozen doughnuts and cut that in half. Now subtract five. That's about what you'll pay at Doughdaddy's. Best bang-for-the-buck doughnuts I've had. The take-away point: if you want to score massive points with your significant other's family, do what we did and get them Doughdaddy's.

I'm shocked to see nothing but 4 and 5 star reviews. Maybe I went on an off day? I got a plain glazed and raspberry filled. My husband a maple longjohn. The glazed was so greasy I had to spit it out. It was like it had been soaked in vegetable oil - no exaggeration. The other two donuts were just average. The only thing they have going for them is the variety. I didn't count them, but they probably had 20 different ones. I'd take a free one with a tank of gas, but I won't be stopping just to grab a donut.

just as good as I remember when I was five! we got a dozen assorted, holes, sour cream cheese.. cake doughnut (my personal favorite), bacon doughnut, cinnamon roll (they're huge), and 2 coffees all under $20. Fed 4 adults, 2 kids and was enough left for breakfast tomorrow!

We stop here everytime we go to Lexington. Doughnuts are fresh and tasty. Bathrooms are always clean.
