This is a great place to go and grab a cup of coffee or just meet and talk with friends. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere.

Wow this place is great. I'm amazed with the delicious coffee and relaxing atmosphere. I came in expecting ok coffee but was pleasantly surprised!! I had the cafe Miele. I have to say it was perfect. I only wish it was closer to home. I will be stopping by every-time I come into town.

Great place to get coffee in downtown Richmond! Very cute historic building beautifully remodeled inside with a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly. There's street parking out front.
(5)David G.
Great coffee and even better atmosphere. The upstairs area was beautiful with plenty of natural light.
(5)Dan M.
Awesome decor, and even better coffee! Do yourself a favor and order the Vietnamese latte!

I love what the owners have done to this place. It use to be Irene's dress shop, where I got a few prom dresses back in the day. The atmosphere is relaxed & there are always students studying, which proves it to be adequate in price, but Purdys also excels in quality. Plenty of seating, very clean & they even have live music on Thursday nights. Check out their perka option at the counter of you have a smart phone, you can gain points during your visits and use them toward menu items. When I'm in town visiting family it's the only coffeeshop I visit. They're also the only coffeeshop in Berea or Richmond to offer almond milk and a consistently good coffee or tea. I recommend the chai tea latte with almond milk, if you need more caffeine, make it a dirty chai! (Chai with a shot of espresso) I know they offer vegetarian food options but I haven't tried them yet. The cinnamon muffins are great if you're looking for a pastry!

You won't find anything else like it in Richmond. Purdy's brings home a down-to-Earth, cool-relaxed atmosphere generally found in bigger cities with trendy cafés. To say that Purdy's isn't that would be a lie. I visited on a morning before 8am and had no issues getting exactly what I wanted. Their blends of tea left a great deal to the imagination in a good way! It keeps me coming back to try more and more. But you'll definitely find the morning rush as the downtown commuting crowd gathers for their morning fix. Purdy's is sure to please.

I usually judge a good coffee shop by how many shots go into their 20oz, then I work my way down service, decor, etc... Starbucks and most cheap coffee houses are at 2 shots forcing me to get an extra. The decent and better places will offer 3. Purdy's offers 4! On top of that the decor is current age classic with hipster accents. Offering games and a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Located right on the main street thru town (and on the way to this weeks job), I do believe I've found my goto coffee shop for this week. Oh, and by the way, their coffee tastes awesome. You can say comfortably that the servers are Purdy. (Add rim shot here)

The decor of this place is amazing. Joe said, "this place looks like a set," when we arrived. The lighting and interior design is impeccable. Great coffee is served and there's a pretty awesome food menu. My favorite touch: a tea collection in large glass jars, but they have smaller tea containers made specifically for customers to SMELL each tea!
(5)Hayley S.
This is the best coffeehouse in Richmond. They offer good quality coffee no matter what your taste is. My favorite drink there is called "wedding cake latte". It's not on the menu, but it is made with vanilla and almond syrups. The only thing I dislike about Purdy's is that the sandwich combo servings are so small and they don't use homemade ingredients. If I wanted a sandwich made out of cheap meijer bread and cheese, I could make it myself for way less than the $6 that Purdy's charges.
(4)Samantha O.
Wonder local jewel; great college hangout but still family friendly and welcoming. Excellent coffee and teas.
(5)Nick B.
Purdy's is a great local coffee shop to grab a beverage and snack in downtown Richmond. I often stop here after lunch at Babylon or nearby restaurant. They have a great selection of hot and cold drinks. Definitely a great atmosphere for chatting with a friend or just enjoying a good cup of joe.
(5)Brian M.
Love this place. Very personable. Great atmosphere. And hey, pay it forward. What an absolutely wonderful idea!

What a find. Richmond has gone from no options for good espresso to one that, in my opinion, beats many of the best in the country. My dad lives in Richmond and my wife and I were visiting over Thanksgiving, knowing we'd be away from home made espresso and lots of other choices where we live. When we've come to Richmond in the past we had a choice of McDonalds, then Starbucks and now Dunkin. But we would always prefer a local independent coffee shop. Not sure how we missed this shop up to this point but I'm glad we've finally now stumbled upon Purdy's. We have a Cafe Miele and a Latte and our assessment - well suffice to say we won't be going anywhere else for now on when we visit Richmond. Not only is the espresso excellent, but the atmosphere just make for a complete destination. Warm and inviting interior, decorated with warm tones and exposed brick top off a wonderful experience. Don't miss Purdy's when in/around Richmond.

Nothing like this in Richmond. The community and atmosphere is great! Nothing beats Purdy's!
(5)Paula R.
I eat here often. The food is always good and the service couldn't be any better! I enjoy this place very much! The music and atmosphere is hard to beat. Thank you Purdy's.
(5)David R.
This place has become a weekly ritual for my wife and me. The atmosphere is great. The breakfast bagel is good. The coffee is good. It is a great way to start a weekend.
(5)Ryan A.
Purdy's nailed it! Most coffee shoppes have no idea what good coffee is or how to pour it. Purdy's is not most coffee shoppes! They use a locally roasted bean source, Sunergos Coffee and people who know how to pour a delicious, beautiful cup! They serve delicious locally produced food. I could literally throw a dart at the menu to choose my meal and never be disappointed. Ambiance is awesome. Just Go! It doesn't get much better than this!
(5)Cindy R.
I absolutely love the atmosphere going on at purdy's. They have a wonderful staff and have made the shop the perfect place for students to hang out at and clear their minds after class. I have yet to try a drink I don't like from there!
(5)Chris M.
A little pricey and not if you only have five minutes; however, coffee is great. Worth it if you are in the slo-mo. A nice break to the day. Ambience is relaxing.
(5)Steve W.
My wife and I stopped in for a cup of coffee and a scone - both of which were delicious. Atmosphere is great - nice refurbished building with several comfortable seating options. The barista was very friendly, as well.

At first glance, Purdy's appears to be a great addition to Richmond's downtown, but after a handful of visits, I'm less than impressed. I hope that if they read this they'll take it as constructive criticism, because I really want them to succeed, and greatly believe Richmond needs a place like this. Let's get this straight. The Purdy's product is excellent. They really do seem to care about making an amazing cup of joe, and their specialty drinks are top-notch. The place is decorated with care (and probably by someone who spends way too much time on Pinterest, truth be told, it's got that kind of air about it); visually, it's a nice space. But my experience of Purdy's as a coffee shop leaves something to be desired. Why am I not sold on Purdy's? Despite all the decorations, it doesn't feel like a coffee shop to me. My ideal coffee shop is mellow, chill, and comfortable for spending a couple quiet hours working on homework, reading a favorite book, or intimately chatting with a friend. Whenever I've been to Purdy's, something almost feels... rowdy... about it. It's loud--and it's not the baristas making drinks, which is pleasant white noise. I noted to my companion the other day that Hastings coffee shop and the exit 87 Starbucks felt more conducive to relaxing or being productive than Purdy's, and the former is located in a big-box store, the latter is isolated and has a drive-thru! Purdy's has a lot of hard surfaces that sound bounces off readily; I wonder if they'd benefit from having acoustic paneling. The last couple times I've been to Purdy's, Kara took my order. She didn't make eye contact with me, and her body language suggested as if I was bothering her, you know, by ordering a small coffee (i'm not high maintenance.) Does she loathe her job? Once again, the baristas at Hastings and Starbucks seem cheerier, but I don't want to support them near as much as I want Purdy's to succeed. It's frustrating. I also noticed she began mopping the floor about an hour til close, which I found rude. Working in food service for many years myself, I know how much you wanna leave at the end of the night and finish all your closing duties, but--it was an hour before, and there were still at least 10 guests sitting enjoying their drinks still. In their image and in their product, Purdys has a good thing going. But locally, it's not my go-to place to enjoy the relaxing, hospitable coffee house vibe, which I think is just as important to the industry's revenue stream than image and product. Best of luck.

A pretty place, good coffee and they make all the drinks very pretty, tasty sweets, cakes, cookies, etc. I haven't not try any sandwich yet, I will post it once I get to taste the actual meal. good place to hang out with friends, a tiny date, study, free wifi.

People are very friendly and with in 2 days of stopping by already knew my name... Im not a huge coffee drinker. But its much like a Starbucks.. More of the higher quality coffee. But I will tell you this there smoothies are great.. There starting breakfast very soon so that will be a great place downtown to get a quick bite to eat that Richmond lacks..
